sleemoon:Wow! That's strange. |
jboixxx:Are you sure GTB still allows Dollar transactions on their Naira debit cards? I tried using both my GTB savings and Utility (virtual) cards for a purchase of less than $10 last Friday, but kept getting a declined error message which led me to believe GTB has most likely stopped as well. |

How about putting your phone to airplane mode for like a minute or two once it's a few minutes past 11pm and back on and then turn on the data mode. Try this to see if it helps. |

Blaqq2:Standard Chartered Bank like most other banks have since suspended the use of the Naira debit card for dollar denominated transactions. So, the answer to your question is zero (0). |
So, it seems MTN has now quietly reverted to the old system whereby your bonus from data recharge using *121# (DATA4ME or TopDeal4ME) gets to be depleted first and when that bonus gets exhausted, the main balance gets hit afterwards. Just a few months ago, they started that very unfavourable and unpopular policy of having a 50% depletion of your bonus data first and next a 50% depletion of the main balance after which the remaining 50% of the bonus gets depleted and then it moves over to the main balance. From my last 6k/50GB subscription (split into 25GB main and 25GB bonus) using *121# which expires in 2 days, I had expected the 25GB bonus data to go down to 12.5GB and then my main balance starts to take the hit. But as it is now, it seems I'll be exhausting my bonus balance first before the main balance gets touched. If this is the position, I'd say it's a welcome development from MTN. I wonder what that person who came to disrupt the whole thing was thinking in the first place.

georgee:I guess with time, they'd achieve some significant coverage. I want to believe they want to stick to strictly fibre without having to incorporate radio into the mix. And you know it's not child's play running these fibre cables across. How did the IPTV streaming go on Apollo Group TV? |
olarrtt:FOB is only available in parts of the following cities: Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ilorin and Abuja. |
Brutee:Go ahead with it. It's just a security patch update and nothing major. I updated mine just this evening on the same phone type.
|
YeyeGbami:With FOB, no shaking. |
georgee:Enjoy! |
georgee:You can check out the trial now and do use my referral no 356892 when creating the trial account. If you so decide to opt for a plan and make payment, I get 10 days added to my current subscription. Cheers |
georgee:You're actually correct. A fellow Nairalander brought this to my attention a while ago and that was when I discovered it. I want to believe there's some maintenance going on there as I don't even have access to my account. Give it some time and try it later. When it's good to go, you can as well download the Startup Show app on your Android phone/tablet or streaming device to use. The Apollo Group TV app is simply the Startup show app rebranded in the Apollo name. For the avoidance of any doubt, the attached picture shows what their website looks like so you don't get misdirected somewhere else. There are quite a number of pseudo websites pretending to be Apollo Group TV. Take note of the URL.

Tuvic007:You can reach out to me via the WhatsApp # on my signature as I wouldn't want to run foul of any rules by dropping links here. Please note that I'm not in any way linked to the running of Apollo Group TV. I only subscribed to their IPTV service cos it's the most stable I've used. However, you'd get a 10-day trial to assess the service to make up your mind. |
retiredGamer:If money isn't an issue, I'd recommend Apollo Group TV any day. That's what I use at the moment and it's the best I've used so far in my IPTV sojourn. It's got DSTv channels covered and a lot more live TV channels as well as movies and TV shows. |
aieromon:That's some MADDD speed you got there, but did you notice how much data was consumed just to run the speed test? About 1.49GB of data gone! Some 2 Saturdays ago I went hunting for the 5G signal since I don't live within any coverage area. When I finally got it, I did the speed tests and when I got home, checked my data balance, mennn I screamed at the very little balance that was staring at me.. 5G will be a game changer, but how ready are we for the massive data volume consumption? Ordinary 4G and you see people complaining about the Nigerian Telcos stealing their data. What will now happen when they're 5G compliant? Ọmọ, premium tears loading.

Nteogwuija:For your sanity and peace of mind, please don't touch Tizeti with a 1000m-long pole. |
This is a very decent speed you're getting from your internet provider. You should have no problems especially if you're into IPTV. And yes, true fibre connectivity is worth every penny spent to acquire it. I'm hooked to FibreOne and I can attest to that. tioluwalasee: |
Shehuyinka:It'll be quite interesting to see how NBC wants to disconnect my IPTV especially when it's running over a VPN. Jokers! |
georgee:Anytime. Cheers |
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who uses hoop telecoms. How about giving FOB a call on 01-7001200 as you may not get the feedback you need by sending them a mail? Besides, if hoops telecoms were quite good, I'm sure you'd have come across one or two persons subscribed to their service. You know such news won't stay hidden. georgee: |
I feel your pain bro. Forking out 128k just for decent Internet service and not getting value for money can be quite frustrating especially during these trying times. I went through their website when you quoted it and I must say I wasn't impressed with the whole site. Not detailed at all. Then I saw their address is somewhere on Ijegun Road. Haaaaaaaaaaaa! I knew it was definitely some mushroom outfit doing some small scale radio things. From what I've been able to gather, if it's not fibre, I won't go near it. My younger brother's experience with Tizeti (wifi.com.ng) is still very fresh. Guy did just one month with them and packed up their setup. Have you tried reaching out to FibreOne to know if they're in your area? georgee: |
georgee:Honestly, that's not bad at all. |
georgee:Why not call them to rearrange the setup and see if it'd make a difference? I don't understand why your phone wouldn't connect to WiFi when you're downstairs. It's obvious something is fundamentally wrong. |
YeyeGbami:The thought of dashing Dstv my hard earned Naira just for some expensive plans to accommodate football viewing was the motivating factor for the switch. Whatever the streaming entertainment is, I got it! |
YeyeGbami:Ehnnn! Ntel ke? Please don't mention that useless network. I wonder why people continue to patronise them and remain in such an abusive relationship all in the name of some faux unlimited data plans. I saw the light in April 2016 when I hooked up to FOB and it's been bliss ever since. Once you go truly unlimited, you'd hate data caps and FUP. *Edit* I'm on the 43Mbps plan though since my people at home weren't allowing me enjoy my Live IPTV streaming buffer-free on the FOB base plan. |
