Typically, it is quite difficult for me to fast outside of the month of Ramadan, I love my coffee WAY too much (it's now decaffeinated, though). But, there are a few days during which I am happy to do so. Two of those days are here.

They are the ninth and tenth day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar. The tenth day, Ashura (which is tomorrow), is a very special day, especially for Shi'i Muslims, as they commemorate the assassination of Imam Hussein, the son of Imam Ali and grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). That event is a very sad one for me, also, as I am very much in love with the family of the Prophet (pbuh).

Yet, it is also a special time because of the event which it commemorates: the Exodus of the Children of Israel out of Egypt. During the time of the Prophet (pbuh), he encouraged us to fast the 9th and 10th day of Muharram to mark the victory of the people of God over the cruelty of Pharoah. Thus, I am fasting to mark that event, and that is why our beloved Aziz went on vacation (honoring me and Willow with guest posting for a while). 

The fact that Muslims fast for the Exodus may come as a surprise to many, but it should not. We are wholly part of the Judeo-Christian tradition, and we honor and adore all of the Hebrew Prophets (pbut). Yet, this year's Ashura is an especially painful one, because of the carnage of Gaza.

As Muslims the world over fast for Moses, why can't the peoples of the Holy Land come to grips that we are more alike than we are different, that we have lived together in peace and can do so again, that our blood is equal and should not be spilled on the holy soil of the Holy Land?

As I fast, I send this prayer to the Lord: that He makes the killing stop and that both sides can once and for all enjoy peace, security, and prosperity. Amen.

a tricky and interesting question. I don’t remember seeing an exact verse about marrying a non-virgin or virgin. The only virgins that I know in the bible are Adam and Eve (God created them first).  If you read the bible men were marrying widows like crazy and it was ok with God.  Yet on the other hand, the bible talks about fornication - which is sex before marriage.

This is how I see it and I stand to be corrected. In Gods eyes, its wrong to marry a non-virgin who is not a christian.  But if the non-virgin is a born-again Christian then its fine.   Marrying a virgin is a personal choice for men and women (makes you feel special) Just my 75¢.  

All i know i don't want a man who has been around the world and back.  next ting you know he's falling asleep after one shot.

I've played this question in my head over and over again and I can't come up with specific answer.  I’ve been wined, dined, tantalized but I can't recall myself thinking out loud or telling a friend that a guy has to do this or that for me to be appreciated.  The fact that I dated/dating you shows that I accepted you as a "package".  When I say package, I mean during courtship I should be able to tell the type of person you are. . . .that is, take me out for lunch, dinner, movies, cook for me etc.  Don't get me wrong, b/c some men change after courtship.

israel's demands are reasonable. a truce (i don't think gazans have a translation for the word; they keep breaking it) should enforce compliance on the gazan side, including the destruction of all weapons smuggling tunnels, and the presence of UN monitors. all's fair in love and war baby, and israel has had a long, rich history of waging battles. i dare say, if war was a sport, israel pulled it off with finesse. the timing, tactics and strategy are very well done, and made possible because hamas threw the first blow.

israel even warned palestinians that hamas was using them as human shields, hence the civilian casualties (which i dare say, and as people here have argued are very low for a war). if it hurts you so much, ask hamas members to 'stand well well when person wan chook you knife' to quote the words of 2shots (odeshi ). they should stop being chickens, act in the interests of their people, and stop firing from civilian settlements. i'm sure israel will give them a few days to reconstruct their military barracks while demolishing other hamas strongholds

If i am correct then the land  (after 1947) doesn’t belong to Israel. It was acquired through illegal means and no country has ever recognized Israeli sovereignty or ownership of the Gaza strip. Funny, when saddam refused to abide by UN resolutions they "chew" him up like hot bread and butter. To this day Israel refuses to abide by the UN resolutions and what the UN did/doing?  Nothing.  why? I am proud to say that I am a born again virgin. I am seeing someone and I am going to be honest here - It's hard to resist temptation. I don’t know how long I am going to last b/c I am tired of pulling out my hair and taking cold showers. Just the other day when I was kissing him I bit his lips real hard and I almost scratched his eyes out - just to hold back my sexual feelings.
