They said Monday. I'm waiting to update y'all. Jumia though? Hmmm... Do you work for or with Jumia?
flourishing247:
I use Jumia. I've never really liked Waka now. Buying from airline website is usually expensive. I hope they refund you asap
Travel / Re: Horrible Experience With Wakanow! Avoid!!! by ccurrie: 9:39pm On Jun 15, 2019
Me too o. I'll stick to direct from the airline.
thesicilian:

I have heard several negative reviews about them also, don't think I'll ever find myself employing their services. I prefer dealing directly with the original airline websites.
Travel / Re: Horrible Experience With Wakanow! Avoid!!! by ccurrie: 9:38pm On Jun 15, 2019
Lol. Not necessarily smarter. The reviews are mixed. Some people swore by them (probably staff) so i thought..be cautious. After all the caution see me!
thesicilian:

Lol. The black man always thinks himself smarter than the one before him.

Tell me about it! The way this life is set up though. People will read this post, your comment and other posts spewing this truth and still try their luck. I should've learnt from the experience of others but I didn't. Look at me now (in Chris Brown's voice)
halfcurrent:
Wakanow has zero customer support. Either buy your ticket directly from the airline website or use Expedia or Travelstart. Forget Wakanow. They services are horrible. They are only interested in collecting your money. I have had terrible experience with them and vowed never to even browse their website
Travel / Re: Horrible Experience With Wakanow! Avoid!!! by ccurrie: 8:21pm On Jun 15, 2019
I know right! Not completely nonexistent though. Mtn and etisalat have had a few (low-level ones) and had to cough out some millions. A very senior colleague was even on etisalat's team.
thesicilian:
There are no class actions in Nigeria. Everyone either wants to "leave everything to God" or mind their business, not knowing they're shortchanging themselves in the process.
Travel / Horrible Experience With Wakanow! Avoid!!! by ccurrie: 7:29pm On Jun 15, 2019
So after reading mixed reviews about Wakanow.com, I decided to do my DD (that's what I thought I did) before buying a ticket from them..

As BA now does hand luggage only, I wanted to be 100percent sure before payment. After 2 Wakanow Abuja staff confirmed to me that my booking was for the 2pieces of 23kg baggage allowance ticket, I was still reluctant even though from research I knew the hand baggage only ticket would be about 200k (and this was 360sth). So I called Lagos and was reassured.

I have my conversations with G... of Wakanow Gana Street Maitama. The allowance was further confirmed by C.... of Wakanow Gana Street, Maitama and K..... of Wakanow Lagos. Infact G..... who wanted the sales points for the booking and who was the first person i called was getting offended that I couldn't count on her word and it was definitely 2x23kg and she was looking at it on the system.

Anyway, after the assurances from wakanow, i transferred 360555 to them and got a 0 allowance ticket to and fro.

I called back and the ladies claimed they did not understand what happened and they will sort it out. Eventually they got back to say it couldn't be remedied and started suggesting alternative dates. I said I wanted an immediate refund...it took me 3mins to transfer...why are they wasting my time and providing no reasonable feedback.

I have been requesting a refund so i can buy another ticket before the fare increases. They mentioned it will be done and they are working on it. I work weekends when I have to, why can't I be refunded within 24hours? Particularly when the circumstances are due to your negligence and (fraudulent) misrepresentation. They have now switched off their phones.

This is how we have class actions.

shocked

ifyalways:

MadamTee, it's ridiculous cos besides who I quoted I also noticed that phrase is like an anthem here. Lol

No, I'm not lazy. I actually read pages and pages of this thread which most were frankly filled with kumbaya and banters.

Back to the koko, trust me, this thread would have been much helpful if the first page is tagged with a simple guide like :

Get a hospital/doctor of your choice.
Fill your ds 160 form.
Pay your visa fee.
Get ready for interview. Have all your docs ready eg correspondence with doctor, payment reciept, accomodation yada yada
Go for interview. . .

Now, with that in place, everyone would understand when one is referred to reading through the thread for specific queries like personal recommendation, hospital experiences etc.

Just saying o.

As per humble yourself part of your post. Hahahaha. Internet sha. cheesy

babe, I wanted to reply and saw your posts on the health thread...the mucus stuff didnt come off today and u r still moving around. i dont know how safe that is. u also mentioned flustered movement and change in movement. pls go to the hospital. bare ur heart to ur doctor who will confirm the baby is doing great and tell u how safe whatever ideas u are entertaining are. u are past 35...think of how u wished to be 28 some months back when the journey seemed slow. God has brought you this far. Pls don't take any risks. God will perfect all He has started in Jesus name. Amen.
Apple19:
@all, thanks for this advice. My options are

1- Will just book my hotel in Houston, call doctor to schedule appointment, and then declare Houston as my final destination. but then I can tell them I'll be staying to do some shopping in Dallas before my appointments.
2. Get a scanned correspondence from Dallas and present it at the POE and pray they won't raise an eyebrow.
CUZ.....

I went for ante-natal this morning to complain about the mucoid discharge stuff and hardened stomach (but no PAIN, and the thick mucoid stuff is not stained AT ALL!!) So the Doctor checked me and said am 2cm dilated shocked in a nutshell, that my enemy is having preterm labour.!! cry hence, sent me to the labour ward for admission straight.
Getting to the labour ward, I rejected the admission and left. Hubby and I entered commission don't just know what to do. cry
Now since that VE, I've been having some funny stomach ache, and going to toilet like every 10minutes.

Pls mamas, what is my faith?? I know say na the Devil for my village dey work, but I've sent the host of heaven to stop every contractions and premature labour. My ticket is scheduled for next Tuesday, hubby wants to reschedule it to this Friday. But I hope I'll be safe in the flight...pls help O.

On another note, Hubby's visa was approved today, but not in a good mood to type Visa Interview now. PLEASE I NEED HELP O.

teefex:

Pls I have a question about moneygram, I have asked before but nobody replied me. If I do moneygram and send all my money abroad, what proof will I have at POE that I have money with someone abroad or d money is mine. Pls is really urgent travelling 3rd week of January. Thanks
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by ccurrie: 1:44pm On Jan 07, 2016
Thanks a million.

vcole:
US local flights charge $25 for your first checked in bag, $35 for the 2nd checked in bag and $100 for any additional checked in bag. Also if you fly local, remember that on your retutn leg, you would have to pick up your bags and then commute to the international wing and re-check them in for your international leg since your tickets are seperate.
This can be quite tasking with a baby and all. So, i really won't advise that.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by ccurrie: 11:49am On Jan 07, 2016
Thank you vcole. Final destination is Houston. I sent a letter of intent cuz I've had a visa and they have replied. Ticket fares are about the same...but for JFK, no airline is going from there to Houston so I wl have to find a domestic flight.

with this info, any further help? Please...I can't buy my ticket with all this uncertainty and I have 2 weeks . thanks.

vcole:
It all depends on the following.
1. Did you declare birth purposes at visa interview or did you send a letter of intent?
2. Where is your final destination?
3. Ticket fares.

Generally people say JFK POE is easier but other folks have had proper scrutiny there as well with secondary inspection and delays.
Houston POE is said to be tough, Atl also somewhere in the middle of these 2. However ppl have passed through without so much hassle, others have had hassle, others have been turned back.

Bottom line, if you have all your necessary documentation, go for the shortest duration. 12 hr flight 9ja to houston or atl. Unless you wanna fly arik, 12 hr flight to jfk. (Lol!)
You may have to go for secondary inspection but as long as you have all the right documentation and enough funds, you'll eventually gt through.

I'm in abuja. just called they don't have anything through JFK.

Bisoye82:

AirFrance do not insist on fit to fly.I just checked their website.ask your agent to use AF and route your itinerary through JFK as POE(it's possible ie Lagos -Paris-Jfk-etc),but it's one checked bag @10kg for infant.
Have not use United before but read here that infant is 2 checked bags at 23kg each.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by ccurrie: 1:04pm On Jan 06, 2016
hahahahahaha. haba naaw. u sef. 1k naira. lol. well by d agent's quote ts more expensive than both lufthansas, but at their office ts 1k cheaper than both lufthansas. so right now ts about d same price. so I can't choose based on that. I want to consider every other thing..
LadyGuinivere:

I also modified! Did u say 'just 1k cheaper'? 1k usd or ngn biko?!
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by ccurrie: 12:51pm On Jan 06, 2016
hahaha. me too o!I just modified my post.. ts just 1k cheaper so I'm more about the flights...leg space, airport comfort during layovers and all....plus the air france confusion about weeks. I only do emirates n BA, so I've never been on any of these. Thanks dear!

LadyGuinivere:

U yourself will have to weigh. Me for egs I like ...scratch that . I love cheaper things so I'll likely weigh toward that.

Hello everyone! smiley so I just got flight quotes from my agent. Lufthansa/United through JFK and ATL, AirFrance/ Delta through ATL ....d 2nd option is 1k cheaper than the Lufthansa through ATL.
1. I'm not sure which of the 2 POEs to use.
2. Air France seems to stress about fit to fly and all. someone told me ts even 28 weeks minimum so I'm confused.

what to do please? in your opinion.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by ccurrie: 7:05pm On Jan 05, 2016
hmm.. now I understand. Thanks a million.
bigfido:

hi,
this is a classic case of what i was trying to explain to you. some come off cheaper at first, but when you research further, you start to hear funny stories. i am not slighted about your response even thou i perceived it as quite defensive. I understand the burden involved too. just try to research well before making your decision about the hospital to use. Even thou i have been here for sometime and i have gathered much info, i still come back to look for something new so as not to be caught off guard. I pray for strength for you. pele. have a lovely day ahead. this website can also be a guide for you as it has a lot of hospitals and there average prices therein. http://hcahealthcare.com/pricing-financing/

good luck ma

I may have misjudged your tone. My apologies. Hope it's fine.
bigfido:

There are cheaper ones but each of the hospitals has peculiar issues that has been discussed in the previous threads. I can tell you Houston Northwest is cheaper but when you get slammed with a paediatrician bill that is ridiculous, have I done you any good? As it is as well, I can't list the peculiarities of each hospital to you. Your research therefore goes beyond name of hospitals. When you strive to thoroughly "glance through" you will find more useful information. That's my two cents. Happy hunting

Not sure bentaub bills are straight forward. My good friend had a terrible experience with them late 2013.
Do make sure you confirm their rates and agree with them first. To avoid stories that touch.

Shocking that the objective persons I told to help check if I had a response found the comment I responded to rude, but you don't. I found it rude myself so that may have affected my response. No hormones...that's what I would say to that pregnant or not... I only directed the person's attention to the fact that what the person said I should not expect him/her to do for me was what I already said I did not expect anyone to bother with as I understand everyone is busy. My sincere apologies to the person if he/she felt slighted. and many thanks for letting me know. I'm grateful.

vcole:
Hey, I know hormones and stress may be kicking in but I think you should chill out though seeing as you don't wanna ward off other helpful folks. Your comments on Bigfido's posts are coming off as "rude-ish"
My 2 cents though. No offence.
