The mining of solid minerals including Diamond, Gold, Bitumen and Barite in Adamawa by a Swiss firm is to commence in December, an official has said.

The state Commissioner of Solid Mineral Resources, Shanti Shashi, made this known Saturday in Yola at the 4th Adamawa Community Dialogue organized by an NGO, the Adamawa Community Advancement Initiative, ACAI.

Ms. Shashi said the Swiss firm, BTP Swiss Sovereign Asset, and the Adamawa Mining Company would be involved in the mining of seven minerals comprising diamond, gold, zinc, bitumen, barite, uranium and platinum in the state under a three-year agreement.

She said that the state government, which was committed to tapping its solid mineral resources, had already acquired 12 mineral exploration licenses from the Federal Government.

While noting the numerous potentials of Adamawa in area of solid mineral resources, Ms. Shashi said the state was far ahead of other states in its level of preparation to exploit the resources.

“Adamawa is the most organized state as far as solid minerals is concern. We have gone far in talks with Dangote Group on Guyuk Cement factory,” she said.

She lauded ACAI for organizing stakeholders dialogue with the theme “Adamawa Without Oil Money: Meeting The Challenges of Sustainable Development Through Agriculture and Solid Minerals Resources Development,” which she described as timely and assured the state government commitment to key in.

PoliticsWhat Buhari Told Niger Delta Leaders Today by CeoNewshelm(op): 8:10pm On Nov 01, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari today met with Niger delta leaders.

According to the Presidency, the meeting was convened to seek ways to end the militancy and the sabotage of oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta region. Speaking during the meeting, the President the problems his administration found on the ground were many, as illustrated in collapse of oil prices, inability of 27 of the 36 states of the Federation to pay salaries, absence of savings to fall back and having to deal with an elite who didn’t seem to care. All these, he said, made his government to conclude that: “life as usual is no longer affordable.”

The President said the service chiefs were putting together their own assessment of the militancy situation, saying “when I have these reports, including this one (just presented), we will revisit the situation (in the region) to ensure that we succeed this time.”

He however cautioned the leaders of the Delta that they had more to do than anyone else to bring peace to the region, given the influence they have on militant groups.

He expressed the determination of his administration to stay focused on its key campaign promises of securing the country, fighting corruption and creating jobs through the improvement of the economy.

“We are determined to make life comfortable and affordable to all Nigerians. If anybody has a country to go to, let him go, we will stay here and salvage our country.”

The President who delivered his report card on the war against corruption and the efforts to secure the country repeated his call to the Niger Delta leaders to join the administration in bringing peace to the troubled region.

“Please Your Excellencies, Your Majesties, Distinguished ladies and gentlemen; we all have our individual constituencies. Let us try to pacify our constituencies. Let us first recover our country, secure the country and let us invite people who will invest. Let us create jobs for our people and let us be accountable to our people where we are sitting on treasuries, whether it is local government, state or the center. We should ensure that we rebuild this country. Nobody wants to fail. So, the only way out is, if people understand and believe that we are doing our best at all levels, then we will have some peace. But it they have reason to doubt our performance and sincerity, then we will have problem,” the President added.

Politics3 Pastors Fight Dirty Over 16.5M Realised From Buying Land For Church by CeoNewshelm(op): 11:13am On Oct 29, 2016
Three Pastors of the Living Faith Church also known as Winners Chapel at Isheri Olofin area of Lagos state are engrossed in serious fight over the sharing of N16.5m realized from the purchase of some parcel of land and property by the church in Lagos.

The fight which was said to have started from the church premises has now moved to the Lagos court where the parties are seeking justice.

The three pastors in the matter are Deacon Dolire Oluwaniyi who is also an estate agent on the one hand and two other Pastors, Edwin Iky and Peter O. Odama on the other hand.

The last two acted on behalf of the church over the purchase of the property. In the suit before Magistrate’s court sitting in Ogba, with suit number, MIK/4174/16, Deacon Oluwaniyi stated that the two pastors cheated him after they collected N140m from their General Overseer, Bishop David Oyedapo and paid N130m to the owner of the property.

Apart from that, Deacon Oluwaniyi also stated that as the agent who linked the church to the owner of the property, he was entitled to N6.5 million commission which was also paid by the church but was shared between the two pastors and he was not given a dime.

Following the alleged scam, the claimant dragged the church to the court seeking an order that he should be paid his commission as a registered agent with his company’s name, Bedek properties that facilitated the transaction.

In response, the defendant under the registered trustee of the church stated that the claimant was not appointed as its agent, legal representative nor hold any partnership and did not authorise the claimant to act on behalf of the defendant.

It also stated that the claimant have no locus standi to sue the defendant as regard the property and demanding N6.5m agency commission.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O Osinbajo has adjourned the matter till 23 November, 2016, to deliver rulings on the motions filed by the parties.

Politics20 People Owe Nigeria N1.2t - Rep by CeoNewshelm(op): 7:03am On Oct 29, 2016
The chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Media and Publicity; Abdulrazak Namdas disclosed that 20 Nigerians are owing the federal government N1.2 trillion.

He stated further that recovering the money could help Nigeria to overcome hard times posed by the ongoing recession.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Abdulrazak said: “As we all know we are in a recession. AMCON was established between 2007 and 2009 as a response to global financial crisis. The Federal Government through ministry of finance guaranteed a loan that AMCON should raise 5.67 trillion naira, this was to save some of these failing financial institutions at that time, AMCON cannot recover its 2.473 trillion.

This is a time we need this resources and this debt is piling up and people owing this money are still leaving and kicking and infact they don’t appear to have issues, some of them own private jets. If we can invest that money into the economy, it will assist the economy very well and it will interest you to know that out of this 2.4 trillion only 20 individuals have about 1.2 trillion to cough out.”

Earlier, the house of representative mandated its committee on banking and currency to investigate the failure of bank debtors to pay up their loans to the tune of N2.4 trillion.

CelebritiesHilda Dokubo - I Got Pregnant At 16, Became A Millionaire At 17 by CeoNewshelm(op): 8:32am On Oct 23, 2016
Popular actress, Hilda Dokubo hasn’t been in the public glare for a while now. Even before she served as a Special Adviser on Youth Affairs to former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, she had rarely been seen in movies.

But that does not diminish her status as a widely-loved Nollywood actress. She has featured in several block-buster movies over the years that have won her millions of fans. Of particular fascination is the emotional way she plays her role. She cries easily on camera, and she can be said to be a method-actor, as her portrayal is graphic and distinct.

The role-interpreter was in Lagos recently where she ministered as a Pastor at the Fresh Oil International Church. During her sermon, she revealed some part of her past that may be unknown to many. While speaking, she said, “I was born with a silver spoon, but death turned me poverty-stricken after my father died when I was just nine. I turned away from God at that point, because I felt disappointed that despite how much my father loved and served God, he still died.”

She continued, “After my dad died, my mother completely lost her mind. If she were living in the US, I’m sure she would have been diagnosed as a mental case. You know, in Nigeria, we don’t consider people mad until they have started eating from dustbins. I rebelled against God at that point, and I stopped going to church at the age of nine.

“However, I was a very brilliant girl, and I got admission into the university at the age of 16. I became rascally and did what girls like that do. I slept with a man, and I became pregnant. It wasn’t the Holy-Spirit that impregnated me. My mom was devastated and disappointed in me because of that. I was also angry with her because ‘her God’ killed my father, and we stopped speaking to each other.

One day, a man came to me and said he needed a barge. I didn’t know what it was, and he told me it was used to store oil.

I then recalled that I had once seen a barge in the compound opposite ours. I went to the neighbour and told him I needed the barge. He asked me what I needed it for, but I told him not to worry.

I told them to put the barge in front of my mother’s house. At that point, the man who told me he needed the barge came back, and dropped sacks of money containing N2m with my mom because I was in school at that time.

Two weeks later, he returned with N500,000, and I was dumbfounded. Before then, I had never seen N100,000 together, but there I was as a millionaire at 17, not knowing what to do with the money.

I would have become a prostitute, but I became restless and challenged destiny. Your life cannot change for the better if you don’t challenge destiny. Even God challenged destiny.”

HealthToday Is #nobraday by CeoNewshelm(op): 9:56am On Oct 13, 2016
It's October 13; you and I are going to let our nipples breathe - don't wear a bra today.

October 13 is designated #NoBraDay , a day to ditch your bra and raise awareness about breast cancer. Breast cancer previously believed to be a problem of developed countries is fast becoming a major plague in developing countried. A WHO 2016 report states that almost 50% of breast cancer cases and 58% of deaths occur in less developed countries.

There are several risk factors attached to breast cancer, although for the majority of women presenting with breast cancer it is not possible to identify specific risk factors. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC has identified some major risk factors that predispose women to breast cancer. Some of the risk factors include:

1. Age - The older a woman gets, the greater her chances of developing breast cancer. Most breast cancers are diagnosed after age 50.

2. Genetics - Sometimes cancer is in the gene. Women with family members who have been diagnosed of breast cancer are at a higher risk of having the cancer.

3. Early menstruation - Women who start their periods before age 12 are exposed to hormones longer thereby increases their chances of having breast cancer.

4. Late Menopause - Just like early menstruation, late menopause means a women is exposed to estrogen hormones for a longer period of time thereby increasing her chance of getting cancer.

5. Oral contraceptives - Certain forms of oral contraceptive pills have been found to raise breast cancer risk.

6. Alcohol consumption - A woman’s risk for breast cancer increases with the more alcohol she drinks.

7. Being overweight - Older women who are overweight have a higher risk of getting breast cancer than those at a normal weight.

Are you exposed to any of the risk factors?

Early detection still remains the major key in combating breast cancer that is why you need to take off your bra today and touch breast. If you can't touch it yourself, get a certified doctor to help you touch it. Stay healthy, don't wear a bra today.

Politics‘we Are Not Slaves’ – Imo Workers Reject Okorocha’s 2-day ‘forceful’ Farming by CeoNewshelm(op): 11:38am On Aug 22, 2016
The Nigeria Labour Congress has condemned the Imo State government’s three-day work and two-day farming for workers, as recently introduced by Governor Rochas Okorocha.

NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, gave this indication while fielding questions at the News Agency of Nigeria Forum on Sunday in Abuja.

Accordingly, Wabba said that by the NLC directive, the law had been made ineffective, as workers had ignored it and continued with their work normally.

Wabba said that the policy which implied forcefully sending workers to farm was against the International Labour Organisation Convention and also against the rules and procedures in service.

Wabba said, “First, we have condemned in very strong terms what the Imo State governor tries to do by forcefully sending workers to the farm.

“Don’t forget that the public service rule is very clear about what trade a worker can actually do to add to his normal routine services.

“It provided that on your own volition, you can join farming as part of your normal routine activities, and that is allowed by law.

“But to criminally now go to the state House of Assembly and pass a law overnight without public hearing and without consultation is against the ILO convention; it is against our rules and procedure in service.

According to him, Okorocha’s policy is quite different from what other states are doing.

“What the governor is doing is forced labour; we are not slaves. Even under slavery, you cannot force a worker to work against his volition.

Accordingly, Wabba said that by the NLC directive, the law had been made ineffective, as workers had ignored it and continued with their work normally.
