you lack the true meaning of education. the wholepoint of a degree( which am beginingt to doubt if u have any) is to be a critical thinker you do not confuse reality with figures. life is not about figures. yes stats are samples from reality but if you care to lnpw [/b]every statistics hypothesis is based on assumptions. it is these [b]assumtions that makes every statistician use the figures only as a guide but not as authority. my friend u seriuosly lack critical thinking. you have only gone through education and come out as most people average.

Stop comparing Ghana with Nigeria,it makes no sense at all.Nigerians live better than Ghanians.Nigeria has the highest number of educated people in Africa,they attend the best schools in the world and are found in all most all professions.Nigeria has the 6th largest natural gas reserve in the world and tops 8th in OPEC oil production.Agriculture wise,Nigeria has among the highest arable farms in sub-Saharan Africa.Accra is only comparable to Calabar,which is just a state capital in Nigeria.Nigeria has the highest number of universities in sub=Saharan Africa with world class intellectuals.Nigerians are respected in the world of arts.Nigeria tops Ghana and every other country in sub Saharan Africa in the entertainment scene.Nigerian students are adjudged worldwide as being of superior intellectual standing when compared with their mates in other African countries.

I can only agree that Nigeria has some leadership issues to fix and we are not ignorant of that.Plans are on top gear to push the cabals out of power.

That was a good information. But permit me to add that it is not just the US alone,also in other parts of the world where Nigerians travel for studies.If you don't have your complete tuition fee and living expenses don't dare go,especially in Asia and some parts of Europe and even the Uk of recent.
I am currently passing through similar situation but i know my God will see me through.

In my own case,i traveled with my complete tuition but on getting here I discovered that the school has alot of ''hidden fees'' that nearly drained all my money,both tuition and living expenses,which is contrary to the information contained in their brochure and website.I was made to pay so many other little fees during registration,before you could say jack all my money was gone.I ended up paying only 1/3 of my tuition.Now I am stocked and I am waiting for miracles to to happen to enable me complete the remaining part of the fees.Since it is a masters degree,my time is ticking and the school authority seem not to be taking it lightly with me anymore.I am planning on writing a letter to the president explaining my predicament and asking if my fees could be paid in some time in the future,using my certificate as security.But if miracles happens(which believe will surely happen) then i will give God all the glory.

On paper, Nigeria looks good when the oil money is equitably shared among its 160million souls,or even applied in a manner that can develop the country.But we all know very few Nigerians smell the oil money,huh? I still stand by what I said that more Ghanaians have access to potable water, electricity,motorable roads,health care,security,food etc than Nigerians. How else do you measure how a country or community is doing without refering to access to these basic amenities? Of course if it is about which of these countries has more mansions,limos and throws obscene parties,then I give it naija.But if it is about which of the two countries has a higher standard of living, then of course it is a no-contest,in my opinion.

Your problem is that you seem to be ignorant of basic statistical measures.What is HDI and what does it measure?In your previous post you claimed that Ghana is faring better than Nigeria in all indices of development such as HDI,now you are changing your statement,claiming to have lost confidence in the indices which you once valued.Also, try and get the GINI value for the both countries and then compare the level of equity in income distribution.


The truth is that,Ghana was once a hopeless country,but now there seem to be some improvements over what it used to be and the whole world is happy for them.But that does not mean that Ghana is by any means comparable to Nigeria.I see Nigeria becoming the China and Japan of Africa.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday, said he was ready to pay the supreme price if such would serve the best interest of the Nigerian dream.

Obasanjo stated this in a speech entitled “The Nigerian Dream’’ he delivered at the grand finale of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign in Abuja.
“Our duties, responsibilities and obligations to our country as citizens, and indeed, as leaders must go side by side with our rights and demands. There must be certain values and virtues that must go concomitantly with our dream,” he said.

Quoting the famous philosopher, Thomas Paine, the former president added: “My country is the world. For me, my country I hold dear.” He elaborated on his Nigerian dream, saying: “I see a Nigerian dream of land of unity in diversity, equal opportunity, land of freedom and choices,

“Land of prosperity, fairness, peace and justice, land of love, care and harmony among its people, a land respected internationally and playing its rightful role within the comity of nations. And a land where no one is oppressed, discriminated against, enslaved or disadvantaged.”

Obasanjo recalled with nostalgia his post-secondary school era: “When I left secondary school in the mid-50s, there was only one university in Nigeria. Today, there are 117 universities, a greatly enhanced opportunity that must be matched by accessibility and employment opportunity. “This is an attainable dream and as a political party, we have dreamed and have set about actualising our Nigerian dream.’’

Referring to the PDP constitution, he said the party should be praised for being the only one that had enshrined the federal character, zoning and rotation in its constitution and in practice.
Obasanjo said: “I do not know who will be president of the country after Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. But with PDP policy and practice, I can reasonably guess from where, in terms of section of the country the successor to Jonathan will come from and no internal democracy or competition will be destroyed.

“The recent resort to sentiments and emotions of religion and regionalism is self-serving, unpatriotic and mischievous, to say the least. “It is also preying on dangerous emotive issues that can ignite uncontrollable passion and can destabilise, if not destroy our country. This is being oblivious of the sacrifices others have made in the past for unity, stability and democracy in Nigeria in giving up their lives, shedding their blood, and in going to prison.’’

Obasanjo stated that he personally had been involved in the two scenarios, adding, “`I am ready to do the third if it will serve the best interest of the Nigerian dream.’’
Speaking further, he said the declaration by President Jonathan to be a one-term President was a statement of sacrifice and statesmanship. “There is a press report that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has already taken a unique and unprecedented step of declaring that he would only want to be a one-term President. If so, whether we know it or not, that is a sacrifice and it is statesmanlike.

“Rather than vilify and pull him down, we, as a party, should applaud and commend him and Nigerians should reward and venerate him. He has taken the first good step,’’ the former President said.

“Let us encourage him to take more good steps by voting him in with a landslide victory as the fourth elected President of Nigeria on the basis of our common Nigerian identity and for the purpose of actualising Nigerian dream,’’ Obasanjo said.

Thanks for being civil. Continuing in your line of thought, I hope you remember that Buhari was also only in office for 1 yr and 8 months. GEJ was VP for 3 years and president for 1 year. Are we trying to discount GEJ's 3 years as VP as nothing? Was he just a figure head VP, making little contributions then? I beg to disagree that we need to compare GEJ's 1 year as president with Buhari's unless GEJ is about to tell us that he was a FAILURE as a VP.

Ok, even if we decide to compare the two during the time period that they were both heads of state; Buhari will still beat GEJ hands down. Remember Buhari came in during an oil crisis when the crude oil price was very very low and GEJ has seen record oil prices. Look at their achievements and go figure.

You and I know too well that a VP is a mere spare tyre and may have little or no influence over policy directions.Comparing 1980s and now is a very difficult thing to do.Oil price increase may not be the only parameter.But i don't want to dabble into that because that will lead to some many arguments.

1.The HDI(human development Index) contains most of those factors.You can also search for GINI co efficient for the two countries.It will show you how equitably or otherwise income is distributed b/w the both countries.

2.Yes,i did not include all the reports in the CIA.I only picked important parameters and therefore provided the link for further information.But which ever way you look at it,Nigeria is definitely better than Ghana.
