All of you should just go and shit down.what is important is what you make out of the university not how stressful the university is.No employer of labour will ask you how stressful your school is before giving you a job. Stressful in what sense if i may ask?Every university is unique in its own way and students experience study related difficulties based on the type of professors they meet and the availability of learning materials. If OAU is stressful then what happens to some universities where there are not even seats or lecture halls? All Nigerian universities use the same curriculum as approved by NUC.So,the only difference may be in the teaching methodology, availability of study materials and the quality of the faculty. So,if you graduate from OAU,UI or Unilorin and think you are better than the other guy who graduates from a less prestigious university then you are dull and poorly informed.Everybody has the ability to perform irrespective of the institution he/she attends. What the institution does is to excite and guild you to learn. And here comes the real difference, some excite and guild more than others.Does a university really needs to be stressful if i may ask? Learning should be exciting and interesting and that is where our universities go wrong. Our students are made to think that learning is supposed to be stressful and boring.Everybody believes learning should be stressful because our poorly trained lecturers made it to be so. |
Yea, most business schools use work experience in lure of academic qualifications, especially for the MBA. If you have above five yrs of work experience, there are so many schools that will accept you for their MBA programs without you having a degree.Just google any business and check it out. |
Buhari should go to hell SO HE IS COMING BACK TO TAKE WHAT HE FORGOT ABI, NOWAY MAN |
This woman needs to be examined once again. Nigerian Professors sef |
No doubt, it was a mistake by Buhari. but other Yoruba people were there to advance the course of lagos. e.g the governor, Gbolahan Mudashiru , Buhari's deputy Idiagbon.Buhari was a despot and wouldn't have listen to anyone |
President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday took the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), General Muhammadu Buhari to task over the latter’s reason for cancelling the Lagos Metro Line project 27 years ago when he was Head of State. President Jonathan asked Buhari to “come clean” on the real reasons for cancelling the project as Nigeria forfeited a whopping $60 million, which was part of the loan that had been paid by the Alhaji Lateef Jakande administration before Buhari toppled the civilian government in December 1983. Jonathan, who spoke through the Media and Publicity Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in a statement issued yesterday, said Buhari was economical with the truth about the cancellation of the contract and only gave “a specious political excuse” for dumping the project. The CPC candidate had while speaking to his political associates in Lagos on Wednesday said the project was cancelled because his government did not want to take more loans nor devalue the naira. His explanation was, however, a repudiation of that earlier offered by his spokesperson, Mr Yinka Odumakin, who said Buhari knew nothing about the cancellation and that it was the military governor of the state at the time, the late Gbolahan Mudashiru, who unilaterally cancelled the contract. “Sadly though, Buhari is all too economical with the facts. His spokesman, Mr Yinka Odumakin (said) a few weeks ago that Buhari knew nothing about the cancellation and that it was the late Gbolahan Mudashiru who unilaterally cancelled the contract. But, Buhari has categorically repudiated Mr. Odumakin’s poorly concocted lies. “But was Gen. Buhari himself telling the whole truth? The facts seem to point at a culture of lying at the CPC. Why would Odumakin lie against the dead? Was Buhari unaware of the huge penalty clause in the contract? So wherein stands his fib about avoiding loans? “We are appalled by this singular act that has compounded the traffic problems of Lagos, the seat of Nigeria’s economy. Gen Buhari needs to rehash a better tale.” The PCC added that Buhari was just trying to score cheap political points and was being clever-by-half when he said the project was terminated because of financing issues. It also accused the CPC candidate of contempt for the people of Lagos, wondering why he just found his voice to speak on the issue almost 30 years after the contract was terminated. “Firstly, the project, which was initiated by the administration of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, was going on smoothly and on schedule before the coup-d’état by General Buhari. The project would no doubt have been completed on time if not for General Buhari’s coup and the transportation nightmare Lagosians face today would not have existed. “The visionary Jakande administration had concluded all the plans to finance the project, putting everything in place for its successful execution. The government had secured a $450 million loan at six per cent fixed interest rate for 25 years. At the time the project was cancelled the government had paid part of the loan and therefore had no worry about financing the project. “What Buhari failed to tell his Lagos audience was that with the short-sighted termination of the project, Nigeria forfeited a whopping $60 million, part of the loan that had been paid by the previous government. Buhari took that decision arbitrarily in spite of being warned of the consequences,” the statement added. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/apr/08/national-08-04-2011-003.htm |
I still wonder why some people keep supporting this dead man called Buhari. When the entire world is canvassing for a new generation of leaders with digital minds, some people are here dragging us back to the 80s. As former president Julius Kambarage Nyerere of Tanzania would put it,''as others plan to reach the moon we plan to reach our village.''Buhari is not fit to be Nigerian president no matter the yardstick you use in measuring it. Nigerians should vehemently resist any of these military-civilian politicians who have lost their sense of usefulness. Why would someone cancel a laudable project like this if i may ask? He seems not to know the underlying benefits anyways. Anybody supporting Buhari does not mean well for the Nigerian youths. The money Buhari spends on election campaigns could have been used to set up industries to employ our unemployed youths. At his level i least expected him to start dragging political positions with the likes of Ribadu etc. It's only in a country where the elites see political positions as the only means of survival that the likes of Buhari would still want to cling to power. |
There are a few good schools in Malaysia, especially those affiliated to universities in Europe, Us and Australia. University of Malaya is also one of the best universities in the world and ranks very high more than most uk universities.Tuition fee and cost of living is also low compare to other education destinations. However, a few of the local universities do not have programs in English,so you have to be careful while choosing a school.Note also that you cannot work why studying, the Malaysian govt does not support study-work arrangement,so you have to come with your bag loaded with cash. Inform me of your program of choice and i will help make research on institutions that offer such programs and the associated cost. Also, you have to state your budget for the study, are you going for undergraduate or postgraduate? |
I think Buhari supporters overdo the "tears" thing. Its about politics and direction, not near religious love. You just spoke my mind, very intelligent of you. |

@Kobojunkie why don't go and have some rest? Are you not tired of supporting a failure? BB will never rule Nigeria again. |
I won't vote for him because he seems not to know the problems confronting Nigeria. He is only coming to payback his political enemies. |
Pls don't gamble with your hard earned money.Does it worth having a one year HND with 800k?I don't think it worth it.That money is enough to get Bsc,Msc and even Phd in any Nigerian university. With your over five yrs work experience, most schools may even consider you for an MBA. Pls think twice b4 you loose ur money |
@kabna Yes,i take figures with a pinch of salt, but someone made me to resort to figures as an evidence of development. That apart, are you Ghanian or are you just been sympathetic?lol |
Kai naija piple and their sense of delusion! You guys can badmouth Ghana all you can, something Nigerians are particularly good at. But I see boku, boku Nigerians on the streets of Accra every day, and more are coming every single hour. And by the way, how do you measure one country being better than another? Is it by looking at which of them has more mansions even where there is no electricity to power lifts, limousines when there are no good roads to drive them on, private jets etc. I guess most of you guys don’t realise that more people in Ghana have access to electricity, good roads, health care, potable water, food, education and security than people in Nigeria? Frankly, we can debate which is better between Ghana and Nigeria, but for me, I know if Ghana is ahead of Nigeria in all the indices i mentioned, then what is there to compare? Of course, unless you want to tell me one percent of the population being stupendously rich is a good measure of the quality of life of the generality of the people.@kabna firstly,i did not start the issue of posting statistics, the post above made mention of statistics from UNDP.So,in order to corroborate my assertions with figures as he wanted i posted those stat.Every country has the potential to grow and out-compete others, especially in this globalised world. For instance,Singapore became a first world country without having any natural resource.I am not therefore saying that Ghana has no potential for development, very far from that. But the case of Nigeria and Ghana is like comparing S.korea and China. Both are on the threshold of advancement, but China has more potentials than S.Korea, at least for now. @kabna you are now sounding more educated and enlightened than before lol |
I find that quite condescending and untrue. Lips sealed There is no such thing as giant of Africa.Neither SA or Nigeria can project their power outside SADC and Ecowas respectively Yea,you are under no obligation to believe, and i do not expect you either. Also, there is no clear evidence to support that,it's only based on the opinion of some professors whom i and others happen to have interacted with. I have already stated my background asI can fathom you are still under the congenital influence of ancient philosophical hegemony.I wonder what you are still doing in a western country if you do not have confidence in their judgement. You still wallow in self delusion, always thinking that the westerners are responsible for African underdevelopment without thinking-out alternative developmental paradigms that will facilitate a speedy development of Africa.Sound judgement is not intrinsically related to ones educational attainment,so your being a biomedical scientist got nothing to do with having a critical thinking mind. Also, when it comes to educational attainment i do not think you are closer to me,i say this with all sense of humility.a philosopher and a biomedical scientist. now if you noticed my contributions to this debate, i have not yet stated my stance on the subject matter rather i picked out a quote from your post as deliberately biased. now based on that, i have noticed am unable to communicate with you due to your twisted sense of self affirmation. you are very content with self worth based on GDP, GDP per capita hdi etc. i will never make an assertion that Ghana is better than Nigeria nor will i assert that Nigeria is better than Ghana. but i can understand why some people might stand by the former. having interracted with people who have lived in both countries, and examined the facts on the ground, there is little to choose between the two for me but nevertheless Ghana will edge Nigeria. you can dispute this by quoting the western styled indices's but, i strongly will use other indicies based on sound logical realistic facts. You keep talking about ''facts on ground'' without making effort to mention these facts. So,why are they facts if you cannot mention or measure them, either quantitatively or qualitatively? I lived in Ghana for about one year, so know what I am talking about. i will never make an assertion that Ghana is better than Nigeria nor will i assert that Nigeria is better than Ghana. but i can understand why some people might stand by the former. having interracted with people who have lived in both countries, and examined the facts on the ground, there is little to choose between the two for meWell, i like this part of your argument. |
I am not oblivious of the fact that some Nigerians lack the basic things of life, but not to the extent of comparing Nigeria with Ghana.I recognise the sufferings of my people, and it is my utmost desire to witness an improvement in their well-being.What class do you belong if i may ask?Because you work as a waiter in Mc Donald in the uk and you feel you are better than the next person.Class my foot. |
My expressions are very consistent with my thoughts. for you, you lack the capacity to reason laterally. for you everything has to be black or white. That is why you will claim superiority with statistics neglecting the deep suffering of your own people. comparing figures which are largely inconclusive to the subject matter. and boy dare not compare your bush self to moi. we are not in the same class. sorry mate. you are as i stated earlier at best half educated and at worst ignorantly arrogant.I am not oblivious of the fact that some Nigerians lack the basic things of life, but not to the extent of comparing Nigeria with Ghana.I recognise the sufferings of my people, and it is my utmost desire to witness an improvement in their well-being.What do you belong if i may ask?Because you work as a waiter in Mc Donald in the uk and you feel you are better than the next person.Class my foot. |
have you ever wondered that this is a social forum and for that matter writing here is no academic exercise thereore one can use any form of writing as long as your readers can comprehend what you are writing. I must say you are very silly to think not answering yes even to what makes sense means you are intelligent. on the contrary it reveals your ignorant arrogant nature. niaralanders and for that matter nigerians intelligent than all sub saharan africans? on which planet.hahaha, let me tell you, because this is a social forum does not mean you have to continuously make grammatical blunders. For your information,I and most readers here find it very difficult reading meanings into your post. You are even unable to convince me on how Ghana is better than Nigeria, both in fact and fiction. So,no need wasting my time with an intellectual deficient slowpoke like you. |
this topic has been discussed extensively here.check the link below and others. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-280487.0.html |
[li]if she comes back after doing her masters are you saying she wont get a job cos you are repeating the same thing, how does doing nysc in between your undergraduate and postgraduate hinder your career this is one funny thing people do why apply for entry level for position with a masters degree? or why waste time doing nysc with a masters degree- after masters straight to work not otukpo village doing nysc[/li] [li][/li]
You seem not to understand.Masters degree will not do much wonders without work experience,i agree @op if you think coming to Nigeria for nysc and then returning to the US for ur masters is the logical thing to do then so be it.To me,I think it is wise you start your career as soon as you complete your nysc, welther with masters degree or undergrad than troubling yourself with another schooling after the nysc stress.I see no point coming back for nysc and then returning for masters and after that you come back again for job. |
@vienna86 If you plan to work in Nigeria,I will advise once again that you do your MASTERS first and then return for your NYSC.That is what many people in your shoes do.I met many of them during my own time. |
