debosky: ^^ Who are the bargain basement players that Arsene is going to buy or do you already know what will happen in the future? cheesy

Y'all should chill with the Nostradamus imitations - put out your prediction and then sit back for it to be fulfilled before getting all triumphalist.
I heard Monsieur has signed Ginter and Marica...is it true? cheesy

You guys should forget any marquee signing at this stage...just be content with whatever you get.
It's gonna be a long season.

WTF are you talking about?...UK guys want total domination blah blah blah?...
Isn't this what I said days ago:

chamotex: If someone in 9ja can volunteer to collect stakes for 9ja residents cos of PayPal restrictions.
Didn't I raise the issue of logistics and pay pal restrictions in my opening posts? So how did you think you were going to place a bet before? In your mind?
Most people here just keep talking without volunteering or putting any solution on the table.
The people who don't have to but are making suggestions are the ones getting attacked.
Like I said before, I wanted to fulfil the wishes of some who wanted to spice things up with a little bet and I felt I should help spread the word as the moderator.
Make you guys do your ish, I'm out. I was only trying to help.

I actually know Dare2think...so trust isn't an issue here.

If you can't trust whoever is the admin, why bother to place a bet then since only a few know each other personally...why not go to paddy power or bet365 to place a bet.
Like I said I don't have to be the admin...I'm happy to put my own stake and save myself the stress... only trying to fulfil the wish of members who wanted to spice things up with a little bet.

I think it's better to create a separate league just to make things easier and straight forward.
It won't be associated with the Nairaland name because of oga Seun...we'll have a separate name for the league.

So far we have the following people on board at £50 each:

Dare2think
Chamotex
Ritchboy
A-40
Vieira
Chrisbenogor

elampiro: I am not obessed with Rooney, instead this thread is obsessed with hate for Rooney.

Imagine people making such statement as Rooney is the one preventing Kagawa from shining, etc. It so good Rooney is not even in the preseason and everyone is exposed.
Who are the Rooney haters?
If you've been on this thread for time, you would know that every player gets criticised at some point...even the legends Giggs and Scholes were not exempt.
Just be fair and objective about it.

dare2think: Chamo, we have come up with suggestions, it is up for you to let us know which format is convenient for you.

I say, set £50 target and set atleast 15 participants target too. If that is not met, we cancel.

Money paid into a paypal acct. Oveseas folks can use it too. Folks in Nigeria can send money to someone trusted.

I start by saying my £50 is ready. just gimme ur paypal.
Serious guy...lets get at least 5 people on board then we start sending money.
My £50 is ready too...but is £50 okay for everyone else?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Nairaland Fantasy Premier League 2013/2014 by chamotex(op): 9:24am On Jul 27, 2013
Pharoh: @chamo. . . thanks for the code and i will check out the betting thread later.

I think making the cup competitions maximum of 20 members is best in my opinion as there will be fixed home and away matches for every team just like the premier league is made up of 20 teams. I think it should be reduced to 20 and i don't mind having the axe if this is going to happen.

Twenty team is best for fierce competition with five teams relegating at the end of each season and we can make it like this as it is not too late to fix things . . you have to put your feet down and force the cup compositions.

Champions league - 20
Fa Cup - 20
Carling Cup - 20

Just a suggestion anyway as we can go ahead with the present format.
You do have a point but I think some sort of protocol/set of rules need to be introduced first to let all participants know.
We already have over 20 managers in the FA cup now and axing some managers won't go down too well and I don't think anyone would volunteer to get the axe.

What can be done however is to use this protocol for the start of next season at least every one gets a heads up knowing they need to be in the top 20 for next year.

We should throw it open to let people vote
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Fantasy Premier League Betting? by chamotex(op): 9:15am On Jul 27, 2013
Ibime: You are tried and tested with £100

Dem no dey give student £3k to hold. He go convert am into student loan. We've all been students, and students aint credit worthy.

Either find a more credit worthy treasurer or lose participants.
Who be student? cheesy
You are trying too hard o...I'm starting to suspect you.
You have a track record of mismanagement of funds.
E be like say Ibime wan use our money clear his debt, bailiffs no wan let you rest. grin

Guys, let me know what you all decide when you are ready.
No time for long deliberation.

So elampiro is obsessed with Rooney...no wonder.
I thought as much.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Fantasy Premier League Betting? by chamotex(op): 4:52am On Jul 27, 2013
Ibime: This would limit the game to those who can afford/want to bet.

My suggestion is that a group of players by mutual agreement each put £100 into a pot, then the top 3 (from those group of players) split the prize money by ratio 60:30:10.

This way we still have a league open to all and sundry, but also stakeholders within that league have an extra caveat.

I suggest myself or Dayokanu to hold the money, as the total sum (estimated £2k - £3k) may be too tempting for Chamotex. cheesy
See this Borokiri boy wan use PDP format for here. You wan hold wetin? grin
I'm tested and trusted bro...ask dayokanu about my track record.

Just drop your stake...no long thing
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Fantasy Premier League Betting? by chamotex(op): 4:47am On Jul 27, 2013
We can't use the main league...this is strictly for managers who wants to bet.
Not everyone in the main league is interested.
A league will be created and code sent to participants via email. Probably between 10-20 people max
It's as simple as that.

Let the main league be on its own.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 4:00pm On Jul 26, 2013
coogar: i would still trust RVP in the box before rooney. when RVP misses, more often than not, it's because the goalie made a brilliant save. rooney just blasts the ball, he rarely places the ball away from the goalie's reach.
I don't mind criticism of players but lets be fair and objective with it.
He missed two chances today and elampiro wants to crucify him...whereas there are other players who were culpable of the same.

I don't even care if a striker misses too many chances...as long as he gets a decent tally at he end, that's what matters.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 3:37pm On Jul 26, 2013
elampiro: Did Rooney not see him through in Madrid which he squandered? He himself referred to that incident recently in an interview. Today again Kagawa passed to him but he couldn't chip properly. He shouldn't be wasting so many chances.
Oh I thought you meant he saw him through the match. My bad.
But still I don't get your point...Rooney set him up for a chance ...so what! Persie sees players through too, the same way he did for Kagawa today who also missed a sitter.
So I don't really get what this seeing through is all about.
Rooney has missed so many chances as well...you have to be in with a chance to miss.
Last season Suarez probably missed the most chances in the league and was still at the top of the charts.
I remember the 2010 season where Rooney was the top scorer...he missed loads of chances too...it comes with the territory.

coogar: fergie and gill should have stayed till 31st of july. moyes has become basket mouth. fergie would never openly tell the media about his transfer targets.

i'm not even sure woodward can point to africa on a map - he's clueless. they said he left the team at preseason to be in a better position to haggle transfer - why did he travel to asia in the first place?
I thought Woodward went to finalise the Fabregas deal but it seems he went on a shagging spree in Salford.
Moyes is not only becoming basket mouth...Manchester United is fast becoming Mr Bean with our transfer dealings.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 3:16pm On Jul 26, 2013
elampiro: I can be more forgiving of Welbeck because we know him already and he is still developing. If you consider his work rate too, you will still give him kudos after 90 minutes. But RVP is just to wait while the ball is delivered, then he makes a short run and squander them. Even if it is preseason, it is too much for such clear chances.

Last season he did that in Madrid after Rooney saw him through. In couple of times, particularly in the FA cup against Chelsea he was blasting wide. I am not saying Rooney doesn't miss, but Rooney doesn't miss as much on a one vs one with the goalkeeper. Rooney also have to run all the way from the middle into position after involving in the build up.

We might say they are only preseason, but this is RVP's third. I have been watching progress of individual players in the team. In the last game we blamed the little boys, but that Lingard keeps taking his chances which are not even as clear.
Wait while the ball is delivered?
What else is he supposed to do? Can he deliver and then teleport into the box to get on the end of the delivery?
Only a few players made more assists than RVP last season so your claim doesn't hold water.
If you are talking about Chicha then I can agree...but at the end of the day that's the type of striker he is.
Can I explained earlier, some CM's are defensive while some are attacking...every one has a role to play.
These days one striker spearheads and the other play a withdrawn role.

Rooney saw him through? This is laughable and I try as much as possible not to get into long debates on the thread these days.

Yea it is his third game but how many minutes as he played altogether.
We are all watching the progress of every player and so far you can't really pick out any major outstanding players because the team as a whole is yet to peak.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 2:48pm On Jul 26, 2013
With the way things are panning out...I think we will end up with second choice signings which is a shame.
I honestly think David Gill should have stayed one more season to help ease the transition of having a new manager at the club in regards to transfers.
This Woodward guy doesn't seem to be ruthless enough for me.
Having a new manager and a new Chief Executive at the same time is not ideal for the club.
