There are good bargains all over the place i.e Jelavic is dirt-cheap at 5m.

jordi alba of valencia is imminent.
Seen him a couple of times. I know he's now Spain's first choice LB
How good is he though, defensively?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EURO 2012 FANTASY LEAGUE - Sign In Here!!! by chamotex(op): 5:02pm On Jun 01, 2012
coogar: completely!
i need about £400m though, that 100m
isn't enough at all. the trick though is
to have 2 average goalies, 3 quality defenders,
5 high scoring midfielders, 1 decent substitute striker
and 2 super duper strikers
Even with that you'd need 200m

afrodoc: chelsea really strengthening their attacing game dis offseason and city making some changes it seems.we hav got to get things right wit our buys o.wt do u guys tink abt d leighton baines rumors
The reason I dont believe it is that, knowing Fergie, he'll probably only get an understudy for Evra and not a total replacement.
And would Baines be prepared to play second fiddle? Defensively, I'm not too sure about Baines. He's better going forward
I think we are stuck with Evra for another season at least sad

StarBoard: For all the hot air David Gill was blowing, it's amazing to think Nick Powell is the subject of the discussion.
Whether rumour or not, someone explain to me why he is even up for debate as regards transfer policy.
Besides, the excuse for grooming is as annoying as the purchases of late.
Nicky Ajose, Danny Drinkwater,Michael Keane,Ravel Morrison and co were supposedly groomed for the future.
Where are they now?The squad that won the youth FA cup?what happened to them?
In fact I do not know what we are doing with the supposed academy when we get these youngsters from elsewhere.
Besides, rumour or not, I hear a deal appears to have been tied up for the player in the region of £4 million even before the playoff final.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2146845/Great-expectations-Fergie-puts-faith-youth-4m-Crewes-Powell.html

Now tell me if there is any sense in promoting players through the ranks when we will ultimately get young players from elsewhere (Bebe, Obertan,Jones).
As per who we should buy, I'm not going through all that again.
We need a left-back, probably a right back, a striker, and two central midfielders to be decent and go far in Europe.
That's five players at the very least.
Now what is wrong with buying a player for the future?
Buying him doesn't guarantee anything - it might work out in some cases, might not work out in others.
So because some players have failed to make it from the academy now mean we should forget to look into the future?
It's not the first time we've done this - where the player comes from is a non factor, its the ability that matters.
We bought the Da silva twins before they were 18, did Fergie buy them to go straight into the first team? No! But they found their way into the team at least (Rafael).

We did it with Macheda too, he showed glimpses but couldn't cut it at OT.

There have been several players that can be 'tagged' as success stories.
Smalling was even bought from Non League football by Fulham before United snapped him up.
Joe Hart was purchased from Shrewsbury Town by Man City - he wasn't bought to go straight into the first team then. He's arguably one of the best now
Starboard, calm down I dont know why your blood dey hot.
Signing an 18 yr old for 4mil is not a bad investment.

So you cant even give me names of the players you want?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 10:47am On May 28, 2012
StarBoard: And Nick Powell is th one we should be signing in a bid to regain our EPL crown.
Fergie.shaking my damn head.
I know we need a striker, but do we have to go this low? What's his track record?
While others are getting reputable strikers, our coach goes to see an unheard of,overrated English player (reminds me of Ashley Young).
Maybe Dave Whelan is right.Fergie is losing it.
Evra?please He's been wasted for like 2 1/2years.
Starboard, calm down. He is 18, he is one for the future.
I'm sure they are looking to groom him.
The rumour suggested he might probably be allowed to stay on loan for a couple of seasons to further his development.
It's all speculation at this moment anyway.

Now tell me who you think United should buy for next season and why
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 1:39am On May 28, 2012
Fergie was at Wembley yesterday to watch Nick Powell.
Rumour has it we are in pole position to sign him.
One for the future, not bad for an 18 yr old.

Evra is totally finished.
Abeg Ferguson find us a new LB too, not an understudy.
Is this our Patrice? shocked

coogar: you want kagawa? what would kagawa add to what we already have?
fergie is just a goat....all we need is a defensive midfielder in the
mould of makelele, javi martinez, essien, de rossi!

m'vila is the closest to that. a beast of a player who would look
into yaya toure's eyes and power-slam him to the floor, rip out his
vocal cords so he won't even have the voice to moan to the referee.

117 tackles and 94 interceptions copped for rennes....
he makes 7.7 accurate long ball per game...he's 21 and he's as fit
as fucck....starting all the 38 league games of the season.

kagawa, my left white buttock.
Why wont I want Kagawa? We need an attacking midfielder and a defensive one.
Kagawa will be a good buy rather than spending 30 odd million on Hazard. Should we keep relying on Scholes and Giggs? Haven't you said on here they should retire?

Or we should keep faith with Fletcher who may never even play again.
We are short of bodies in midfield especially when injury strikes. That is why Rafael and Park both played CM against Blackburn.

And about the DM situation, I've said it numerous times here that we are the only team in the top four (probably even in elite Europe) without a natural DM. We need a player that will just sit there and make us solid.

And also before people start speculating about who to buy , we need to be sure what system/formation Fergie would employ for next season first.
It seems Fergie will stick to his traditional 4-4-2. The man is stubborn.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 3:53pm On May 25, 2012
We should just finalise this Kagawa deal already and focus on the next target.

coogar: how's it the worst way? we finished 89 points as a defending champions
tied on points with city and you are saying we lost it the worst way.
how else do champions surrender? easily like a Arrow and finish 9 points
below like chelsea did last season? give our boys a pat! they did well.
I am talking about this game.
We lost it in the last few minutes. We went from being champions to runner up in the last minute. That is the worst way to lose it.

If City had scored 3 goals in the first 10 minutes, then it wouldn't be that bad . . . but snatching it like that at the death of it is heart-breaking.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 5:32pm On May 13, 2012
Did anyone see Fergie's face when Citeh scored the winner? He was jubilating a few seconds earlier.
I disagree coogar, it is the worst way to lose a championship . . . in the last minute.

If Citeh won it the best way . . . then surely we lost it the worst way.

Can the Euros start already
