In its continued efforts at reinforcing a culture of self-reliance, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully reactivated 2 Mugin Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for the training of UAV student operators at its 401 Flying Training School (FTS) Kaduna. The repairs on the UAVs were carried out by the Air Force Research and Development Centre (AFRDC).

The 2 Mugin trainer UAVs became unserviceable about 7 months ago due to inadequate spares and components thereby putting a temporary stop to the ab-initio training of UAV student operators. With the successful reactivation and modification of the Mugin UAVs, the ab-initio training of UAV student operators has resumed in earnest.

Speaking yesterday at the flagging off ceremony for the resumption of UAV flying training in Kaduna, the Chief of Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Sambo Usman, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that the reactivation of the trainer UAVs would ensure uninterrupted UAV flying training by the NAF. According to him, the NAF had in the past sought for training slots abroad for the training of its UAV operators without any success thus compelling it to look inwards.

The AFRDC was then tasked to select and train UAV operators for the NAF. Since the commencement of the in-house UAV flying training, 9 officers have been trained and subsequently deployed for operational duties. The officers have since then been contributing immensely to the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North East, conducting both combat and non-combat Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

In a related development, a DO-228 light transport aircraft, NAF 027, which underwent in-country Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM), was also handed over to the NAF today. The reactivation was carried out by Messrs DANA Limited in collaboration with NAF technicians. The local reactivation of both the Mugin UAVs and the DO-228 aircraft resulted in huge cost savings aside from the added value of further building the technical capacity of NAF personnel.

Some protesting members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic , Moshood Abiola Polytechnic , Abeokuta chapter, had to go diabolical in order to agitate against the alleged directive by the Technical Committee set up by the Ogun State government to upgrade the institution to a university status.

They had alleged that the committee which is saddled with the task of overseeing the transition of MAPOLY to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology , headed by Prof . Peter Okebukola , had issued a directive ordering the sack of over 250 lecturers in the institution to turn in their resignation letters and reapply .

Some fetish items were seen at the entrance gate to the school which was shut down by protesting lecturers.

The Nigerian Army yesterday inaugurated locally fabricated Infantry Patrol Vehicles (IPV) that would enhance troops operations across the country. The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, inaugurated the vehicles and also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a new army cantonment known as Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment at Giri, on Airport, Abuja.

The Chief of Army of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai explained that the vehicles were locally designed and fabricated by personnel of the Nigerian Army after extension research.

Buratai said that the platform would further serve as force motivation, as efforts were being stepped up to clear remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in the Northeast, noting that the vehicles had already been deployed to the region.

According to him, the vehicles are one of the platforms used for firepower demonstration during the 2017 Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship (NASAC) earlier held at the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

A young man has sparked outrage online after sharing loved-up photos with his much younger bae who is reportedly a High school student. Photos of the "couple" have been trending on social media platforms (both on Facebook and Twitter) - with many online users labeling the man a pedophile and also calling for his arrest.

A Nigerian Youth activist, Sir-Jalal Falal has been left in a confused and shocked state after spotting a mentally unstable woman who is reportedly pregnant on the road. The young man revealed that he had to pack his car by the roadside to confirm what he was seeing. Read what he shared below;

A Nigerian man has come under fire from aggrieved online users after sharing photos for his sacrifice (s) which he says he values so much. The man who claims to be a hardcore traditionalist - shared photos of himself with his traditional materials as he wrote; I do all My Sacrifice no white man do it for me on the cross so stop deceiving yourself I valued This things here than Jesus...

Local divers rescued a resident of Suleja who was caught in flooding today near FCT, Abuja...According to reports, at least ten residents of Suleja, Niger State are missing and feared dead due to the heavy downpour and flood that started in the early hours of Sunday.

The heavy rainfall lasted till about 9:30 a.m on Sunday morning.

There was hardly any community in Suleja that was not affected by the adverse effects of the rain.

Some buildgings collapsed during the heavy downpour, resulting in the death of some residents while many sustained different degree of injuries.

Some residents who tried to leave their submerged homes for safety were swept away by the flood.

Cars and vehicles parked on the water ways were also not spared as they were moved from their original positions.

The police in Calabar, Cross River state has arrested suspected armed robbers that stormed the residence of the Surveyor General of Cross River State. The alleged armed robbers were arrested following a tracking device monitored from the phone belonging to the surveyor general.

One of the robber is from Ekori, in Yakurr LGA, while the other is from Ikom in Ikom LGA. A girl from Akwa Ibom was also arrested.

A Nigerian musician who was involved in an accident that crushed his legs, had to make an appeal on Facebook live video to be taken to the hospital. The man who was hit by a car - was left by the roadside with his injury - begging to be taken to the hospital as passersby by gathered around.

In the video footage posted online, the man can be heard saying that they've scattered his leg and he should be taken to the hospital. The people who were present there can be heard discussing in their language as the man pleads for his life.

According to multiple online reports, some say this happened in one of the Asian countries.

A Taxi driver could not control his emotions after his car was bashed by a woman in Lagos. The accident happened few days ago on Akin Adesola street, Victoria Island, Lagos. A female Slot executive was driving from the opposite lane, she missed the traffic light (maybe ignored it) as it turned red. The Baba, taxi driver, was driving through the green light, believing it was his right of way. Unfortunately, one second can change everything as his car was hit in the process.

The old man broke down in tears reportedly asking why that had to happen to him. Sympathizers who gathered to see what happen felt for the heartbroken taxi driver.

The Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, July 5, 2017 arraigned the duo of Oseyomiwobor Marvelous and Idede Stanley Oghenetejiri before Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, Oyo State sitting in Ibadan on a Four-count charge bordering on Conspiracy, forgery and obtaining money under false pretense.

The fraudulent activities of the defendants got exposed following a petition received by the Commission alleging that the defendants and others (still at large) are members of a syndicate who operate a website (www.airpeacebooking.com) to defraud unsuspecting air travelers who preferred to make booking online.

The case is adjourned to October 19, 2017 for trial.

A man who recently got married to female twins dedicated their children from both siblings to God on Sunday, June 25th, in Akwa Ibom . The dedication service took place at the Christian Evangelistic Church, Ikpe Akpa Ewe in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

According to a Facebook user, “FearGod Akpakpan” who posted in a Facebook group.

Those who commented accused the church of promoting polygamy, the poster replied by saying ” take note it was child dedication not marriage”.
