It's a TCN(Transmission Company of Nigeria) issue so i heard. PHED buys electricity from suppliers, Generation Companies(AFAM). The TCN guys help transpor the electricity. The issue i got to understand is that they said some aboki guys in collaboration with some Rivers sate youths frm the community vandalized five of those big TCN towers,the one in the second picture, that carry High Voltage from the Gencos. So PHED is not at fault here. They cannot give you electricity because the people that supply them are having issues.They scattered the whole thing. When the TCN guys came to replace the vandalized towers, it was alleged that the community guys kidnapped one of them or so. But they are done now. When you hv not used your car for some time, you need to warm it well and there is a probability some parts might develop some issues. Same with electricity, when there hvnt been light for a long time, you need to warm the transformers by give short periods of supply intermittently before finally energizing them. They flashed a couple of times. They said they are patroling their lines to endure there is no fault and by monday they will restore

Customs have the right to impound regardless of where the vehicles are EVEN AFTER CROSSING THE BORDERS...The question we should be asking is how did the vehicles pass through the borders in the first instance if we have an effective custom service?

In most cases, it is the same custom service that allows smugglers to pass through the borders and then turn around to seize same items after collecting huge bribe to allow them pass...

This is why smugglers kill customs anyhow.

Oga if u have been to the border area of Kwara state, den u won't be saying this things u just said. I am not going to ask you to compare others states like Ogun, Lagos, Katsina, Sokoto..... There re places whereby by smugglers we drive into Nigeria wit a toks, till he gets to Ilorin, he will beat all security check points on the road.
U guys really don't know Wat these customs officers go through in the bush. U think its just fun to go work in the border area whereby dey won't give u money for logistics but u hv to obey orders and report to ur duty post?. Not even considering the hazards to encounter wen carrying out your duty.
Customs is the least paid paramilitary job in Nigeria [make ur findings], and u expect officers to use this same salary to take care of themselves in d bush as well as their family [this is why dey compromise sometimes]. I hv seen an officer who told me dat to get to his duty post from his house, he spends nothing less than 15k just to leave Abuja and travels to his place of assignment. The journey na 2 days. Not to even mention d enduring hours on bike through d bush [3hours on bike].

My point here is dat, d whole system has been like dat right from time. We have a lot of porous border. That's why most of dis smuggling activities is difficult to contain. As the saying goes "e get who dem go put sugar for him mouth wey go spit am out"?.

The guy survived after the attack but died 48hrs later. He's a colleague of. He was just hustling to make end meets. He was to be transferred to Abuja national hospital [as referred] for treatment but passed on his way. He met armed robbers on his way at Lokoja but his cloth gave him away. He was attacked bcoz he was putting on a paramilitary attire.

There's a 28days shut down of all Nigeria borders. It's a very strict operations from the NSA. All activities including movement of goods and persons to and fro ,has been put to stop. Reasons re for purely security measures most especially to curb smuggling of arms and ammunition. Presently, I am at a border point. Baruten local govt, Kwara state. Total shutdown here.

If Customs decides to carry the government fiscal policies, most Nigerians can't afford some items in the country. If Customs decide to collect proper duty on every item, things will be very difficult for the low income earners and the poor. That's why they depend on compromise duty and as well collect. Even in NNPC, they do compromise business there as well

I am still wondering while the APC supporters aren't saying anything. Unlike how they use to bombard a thread with their undying love for PMB. It's very obvious that they running away because they know the truth is bitter and painful

Nigerian Customs Services (NCS) has threatened to sack overweight officials.

Its Comptroller-General, Col. Hameed Ali (retd) gave the warning during the Nigerian Customs Command and Staff College graduation ceremony for its junior course in Abuja yesterday.

He advised some overweight officers of the service to get back in shape or risk losing their jobs.



Ali said: “We are going to put in place a weight level. If you go beyond a certain weight level, you will be put on probation.

“If you cannot cope, we will probably get you out. Obesity should not be part of us; that is why we are called paramilitary.”

The customs boss also urged officers who are yet to key into the reformation going on in the service to do so immediately.

“Today, we have been able to place customs on a high pedestal. People respect customs, not because of anything, but because we are beginning to change the way we do business.

“We are not asking for bribe anymore, although it’s still going on, but not in many places. Also, we are not living flamboyantly,” he said.

A total of 40 junior officers graduated with nine being female.
