texazzpete:
Corruption in Nigeria resides not only in the Elite, but in nearly all strata of the Nigerian society. Corruption has become a way of life, a means to an end and the holy grail of personal satisfaction.
There is little difference between the Minister stealing millions, the Principal siphoning school funds, the enterpreneur who does not pay salaries for months and the market women who use the bottom of the tin cup to measure rice.
Take nairaland as an example. Any topic on taxes and 419 shows that a huge chunk of our youth are in favour of tax evasion and offer tacit support for Yahoo yahoo. yet we still hide under the self-righteous belief that 'corruption of politicians is killing the country'
There's a reason songs glorifying corruption and ill-gotten wealth like 'Yahoozee' and 'Maga don pay' are chart toppers in Nigeria. And it's not because of politicians. It's the ordinary youths out there that are grooving to these insidious lyrics.
Even if we kill all the politicians alive today, the youth of today are far more greedy that their precursors.
Yes you are right But there is something you don't get clear, If Nigeria government is good then the citizens wont be forced to the corruptive or improper acts. MInd you there is corruption everywhere but their is also limitations to it.

But the case of Nigeria's corruption is due to the bad governance, I am sure you understand that if people have 70-80 percent of the basic things the need in life, they wont be any reason for then to mis-act partake in any improper things. All is was the cus of the money not flowing around Nigeria and Nigeria which means the money goes to some selected people (government officials and politicians and their family), So how do you want others to survive when they don't have and no hope of having ?

GOVERNMENT IS THE CAUSE !!!

lucabrasi:
ill resist the temptation of just going on and on,simply because the most important thing from what i have seen of Nigerian is stimulating the generality, i think we have the fight in us to face any leadership to a stand still, i reckon repeated betrayals of the people even after they have gone through a lot has reduced most nigerians to sceptics, quick example, look at the number of nigerians who died during the 1993 riots for abiola?when abiola came back from exile and he was told, his remark was that"he didn't send anyone to go on the streets to riot"
what foundation or compensation has kola abiola set up or foundation to help the victims, imagine families who have lost their bread winners since 93 without any compensation now being told again to fight, they ll feel reluctant
so i really think stimulating the people, voter education, educating them on the realities of what is going on is the key, another thing i have noticed is that we Nigerians love unnecessary duplication of agencies, do a quick count of anti corruption, human rights e.t.c agencies/organisations in nigeria and you ll be suprised why things have not changed yet.
everyoner wants to be called a president general secretary of an agency,
there are different reasons why nigerians do this
1.some do it in the hope that they can attract grants either from the government or foreigns grants
2.some mean well but because of our egoistic nature will not work under an established organisation, preferring the title president ,gen secretary e.t.c hence the reason why you ll find some agencies don't have more than 10 members
3.they are pure money making agencies for some technocrats or politicians and are used solely for money laundry re is a popular agency run by a very influential nig w is being used for money laundry by ministers and other govt functionaries, quite popular too can't mention names for obvious reasons,
You are right but were are suggesting a different form or way out, first not from any government influences or partnership due to there connection to the same corrupted victims.

We are talking on is making a new generated form of organisation/party/society/group or what so ever backing up with a foriegn agencies or organisation or even commission for it to be strong and stable. This 2 combination will be an open access to the public and always make whatever they do on public and majority demand or request or even opinion.

Thank you "Negro_Ntns", I have always seen your points from your words to develop Nigeria. We are clear and we all know the main thing, "NIGERIA IS CORRUPT DUE TO BAD POLITICIANS IN GOVERNMENT"

So I guess the main thing now is, we want a change ? YES

How and when , I have said my opinion (creating a foundation/group/society/organisation/commission with foriegn supports).

so I want people and others to contribute on how to make this movement possible. (movement to make Nigeria better).

which Nigerian youth? Is it the ones i see that sell their fathers land in the village to 3 different people and run away to squander the money in Lagos leaving their wife and children to fend for themselves. How about those that organized million women matches for abacha? What was his name again?
Yes you are right , so do u mean nothing should be done to this bad and poor governance we have in Nigeria from our politicians in government .

Something still have to be done, NOTE that those women you mentionshed where selected by their parties not like a new generated untiy group or organisation,

Note that it worked in THIALAND and presently its what the Youths in GREECE are doing if you watch the CNN
PoliticsRe: Lets Have A Youth Forum To Revive Nigeria: by Charlesmud(m): 1:23pm On Dec 09, 2008
I support this but I must say First :

We need to create an organisation/party/commission/group/society alongside with foriegn support.

Only then can a protest come up that will be strong enough to be heard and to be able to demand or request for some corrections to be made in Nigeria's government and politicians.
PoliticsRe: Suggest brilliant ideas/program that will improve Nigeria economic situation by Charlesmud(m): 1:17pm On Dec 09, 2008
Can someone tell me what exactly are we waiting for ?

We have to unity to create an organisation/commission/party/group with foriegn support that will create a program which will help in Nigeria's development.

The betterness of Nigeria comes from us not this our bastard past and present government or politicians.

Yes yorubas dont discriminate , and few Ibos also dont but not much .

No doubt AWO partied to the crap Nigeria is in presently, He was also a member with ONI OF IFE back in the days who all both created space and gap with the Ibos and others just to give Yorubas more chance and oppurtunity in power which has now created a huge mess in the country ,

I dont think they did a good thing cus the future matters which they have coursed problems now for the new generation.

I don't just know why, Nigerian things are always different right from the top (government) to down (civilians) have both unpleasant things in-common after all I guess its what they called ***** of the same blood.

Anyway people should know this doesnt make sense cus its all same topic and the fact that they don't even find a reasonable reason for it than to bring issue that encourage the did of their so called RIBADU,

WHY IS RIBADU STILL WAITING IN NIGERIA ?

WHY don't WE SEE RIBADU'S FACE AT THE AIRPORT ?

WHAT PASSPORT DID RIBADU USE TO FLY OUT OF NIGERIA ?

IT SEEMS SOMEONE IS MISSING AND THE NAME SHOULD BE RIBADU ?

All same black black black shits, is their no Moderator that can ban this shits huhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuh

in other words, one has to be looking for attention if he or she has different view from you. i totally disagree. i view this forum as a way for everyone of us to have our opinion on any subject displayed, shared and positively evaluated by one another. it's a freedom of speech after all.
i also disagree with you when you mentioned that selective anti corruption is better than no war at all. this view is backward. 1st, what is on the ground against ribadu is very much bigger than just being selective during his days. there are many other serious, 2nd, may be this is the right time for you to dig more into this issues, instead of just sticking to one issue that's less serious. and last, majority are now moving toward promoting anti ribadu, and i honestly do not blame them. ribadu has brought himself down.
What is so unique or new about it to make it serious ? He stole money and ran away just like his criminal brothers did (OBJ, IBB and E.T.C), We know all this stuff so atleast all can go under one topic after all there are many criminals in government so maybe you should go dig more and put it as topic instead of using the same person in various topics.

And more importantly, maybe it will be good for you to bring up idea on how Nigeria can be resolve (better) than talking about how they (politicians) stole the money and where they went after cus we all know it happens.
PoliticsRe: Huge Capital Flight Hits Nigerian Economy by Charlesmud(m): 3:36pm On Dec 08, 2008
But you should all know by now that Nigeria and some west African countries like Ghana are starting up a single currency called ECO by next year ( december 2009 ) to be able to stabilies the economy. The currency should be a bit higher than Euro but they are not sure yet due to some poor countries like Liberia and Sierria Leone, But for sure it will be higher than US Dollars.

So which the Support of Soludo, it should come true by next year b4 Soludo go start is new appointment in the world bank.

You have injected race into what has all along been an intellectual discussion and I will not be part of it. I really don't know where I stated that I don't like or hate Americans and Europeans, but please speak for yourself and leave me out of your race based assumptions and assertions.
The assertions I made are verifiable facts that you can look up.
You are free to live in a servant master mind set. You are free to believe that English language should be adored, but for your information I speak and write other languages. But try telling the Chinese that English is the best thing since sliced bread and see what they say.

fyi: In the US, the fastest growing language is not English. It is Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and English a distant third.
Considering that you have deviated from the original topic and delved into race baiting, I would rather not discuss your "points", but speak for youself about not liking Americans or Europeans.

OK am sorry if I mis-understood, But I clearly remember you saying they are the crash to the Economic problem but u didnt view from the point of the 80% good things they did in the world But you are blaming them for just this present situation. Why didnt Nigeria make any contribution in the economic growth or find a better solution for the world? (person wey never even chop beleful)

As am saying again am sorry if you mis-understood me and their is nothing like part of my race whatever, I am 100% black and will always represent Naija 4 life, I am just trying to make my point clear and the reasons for it which is so obviouse in many ways. What ever those countries you mentioned speaks they use ENGLISH as their second language (not yoruba or igbo) for public view and all documents always have a copy of English translation YES OR NO ?

I gbadun your words and I like the fact you stood strong to your believe, thats good and keep it up, I hope all comes good for Nigeria. You can check all my previous posts and you will understand me better that I wish and want a better way out for Nigeria's current situation. No vex for me ooo, I dey ur side  wink, So lets talk on the main issue and the solution for Nigeria.

RevMallam:
This is not true and probably misleading. Investors are moving money out of Nigeria to meet cash calls back home in their respective countries. Simply put, they should not have invested these monies in Nigeria or any other place in the first place because they realy never had the money to invest in the first place. They were simply driven by the astronomical returns of the Nigerian markets and borrowed the monies they invested. The monies in question were backed by inflated equities that have sudenly deflated and their lenders now want their money back to shore up their crumbling balance sheets.
Fact: Europe has had a negative growth for the past several years with increasing social  services  needed to sustain an aging population and no rational investor will be moving money to such an environment.
OK that is from your point of view thinking Nigeria is growing but am sure you didnt check the Global market 2007/2008 and also didnt see the way Nigeria is making so much exports with no sign of development or improvement in Nigeria's economy. Nigeria now wants to join a union (WAMZ) to start up with the same currency (ECO) zone by december 2009 all due to be able to stabilies the economy (This single currency idea has already being done in Europe since 1995,  I think).
Europe has being the most successful and stable region and continent in the world, U also know everybody follows their idea, they don't fight for fast growth like America or China but mentain a constant way of development (brilliant system). As you also see everybody uses Europe forms of idea which is the best so far since 15th century.

RevMallam:
Ok, I don't understand what you mean, but I try to write in simple English devoid of economic jargons and I assumed everyone understood my mode of writing. But I clearly don't understand what you mean.
You said both the European and America have being the crash of the present economical problem, But why don't you talk from the wonderful things and inventions they have done through-out the world. They have created economy, created things that makes the world now, they made you know english and u can see its very easy for everybody to communicate easily and good. So far they have done us more good than harm so you should appreciate that and stop saying the little errors they cursed (since 1960 what has Nigerian leaders done for u ?), If not the European,  would we know what crude oil is or whats its for? after all we have being in Africa (Nigeria) since 10th century or even more

RevMallam:
Ahhh, this assertion is a racist myth perpetuated by  racist Western media,  bbc, cnn, etc.
Fact is, Africa has done ok, but should have done better, Nigeria being a good example. But even at that, do a regression analysis using the time of independence as a starting point.
You will be amazed at what the trend lines will look like. You will be amazed that things are not as bad as we make it out to be, but should be better.
The bigest problem facing Africa is bad leadership and sustained Negative media.

Personally, I am of the opinion, that Nigeria produces someof brightest minds out there, but we have not figured out a way to employ them, but hope is not lost. Perhaps the current crisis may be the awakening.
Revmallam
My friend, This is not racist at all cus in-fact I am a pure and full member of fight against racism here in Europe and I don't take bulshits from any white bastards. I just want you to understand somethings and not mix them up due to your dislikes or hatred to the Europeans and Americans cus they have done us more good than harm which is so clear, Yes they say bulshits on the media ok, why can't Africa create or form something or is anybody stopping them? Even AIT in Nigeria is not doing anything positive in Nigeria let alone in Africa, Its a free world. U can tell Nigeria can't survive alone without them but they survive and created things without Africa or can't you SEEEEEEEEEEEEEE? Why can't Africa create or atleast Nigeria to do something, so far you can see how our politicians are messing-up in the government. (that shows what ?)    hahaha

Their is nothing special to expect than for Africans to be better and that wont be our generation, Yes Nigerians are extra-ordinarily good and I know and admit that. So why are Nigerians not promoting their own cus it is even the same white white you hate that his helping them grow and making their talent known.

I love Nigeria and am in support 100% but we should also say and admit the truth that we have gain from this so called white people and they have helped us in so many ways (If not them how will Nigeria be rich with the oil), I am proud and always will be a Nigerian. (Black)

So what have Nigeria divert to since 1960 except oil? ohh sorry i see say u don get mobile phone with one MTN line, Bulshits and poverty

Ose o jare "PapaBrowne", Make them keep up the old story and still dey wait for one miracle wey no go ever happen. Nigeria will come to be the worst country in the world if Nigerians don't act. Investors are already moving out of Nigeria to Europe where there is sensible way of development and stability in growth.

Mr "RevMallam" and Mrs "Pennywise"  I can see both of you are wise and smart, But u didnt tell the rest of the class how you could be able to talk to us easily, fast and direct, U didnt tell us how come you where able to write English for all of us to understand what you are saying, U didnt tell us how come Soludo knows about economy and management.   Since you said Europe and America crashed the world (if not them I don't know what African leaders would have done to this world when after 100.000 years they are still sleeping under tree and Europeans came to Africa to start the development, in just 50,000 years see where we are )

If we were not colonised maybe we would still be eaten uncooked vegetablle and living in a mud house which will distroy our race, Yes the Europeans crashed the world somehow, But if Africans are sensible to be able to create or think for a solution then it would have being good to resolve it all together with contributions of ideas instead of relying on them to solve it and we to use it ( NA them DEY STEAL OUR MONEY FOR NIGERIA ABI OUR SAME BLACK GOVERNMENT LEADERS  ?)

We all better understand the main issue, instead of trying to decieve ourselfs or saying the same issue which we all know already. ( Bad politicians in power ) SIMPLE !!!
