realone12: from my observation, you are a swing trader.. do you think your method suits prop account? It doesn't. And if you've also observed,i have stated after info.first's contests that I'll be flexible and trade like a day trader when trading prop accounts and I think I'm making good progress in that regard. |

Kaybee7000: Charlie congrats but my question is with this swinging ,e dey take u weeks or even months before ur trades hit TP or u close manually sometimes? Most times, i close manually. What determines it is market structure and not any rigid set TP. Example; when i was swinging jpy shorts sometime last month, i closed because market structure changed but i wasn't confident enough to go long. |

kozmicity:

$100?!? Chief, your risk management is on point... Biko, share psychological tips for me. And how long did it take you to build this account? First off, it's demo not live as i want my first live account to be prop account. I started late last year to try out FTMO demo trials and I decided to equally run a demo account of less figure to be sure passing all the prop trials was not "by luck" even though I failed some(I've done over 10 of them and I have my statistics to check my performance). My aim was to build confidence so that when the opportunity presented itself like mr.infofirst has been doing for us, i can grab it. I'm aiming to make a career out of the financial markets and I'm taking it one barrier after another. It was strategy July last year, this year it is confidence( I'm still a work in progress, though). I hope tomorrow,it will be scaling of accounts The year never end, my birthday wish na only prop account and hopefully,i may even get it sooner than expected The account is barely five months old.It will only cost me time and i have lots of it |

God know say, this confidence get the appropriate place e suppose dey enter I'm closing the week yet positive. Hopefully, this confidence go fetch me one prop account too. I've been able to grow $100 into this and I'm quite impressed with myself. Happy weekend!

richgen: It's part of the process bro.
Today I entered usoil buy and ran out with just 24pips profits.
I could see you entered your oil sell earlier than the sell reversal began today.
We keep on looking out for the liquidity the market wants to seek per time and we follow it right there.
Gold seems to be going down to the old low sellside liquidity at 1786.56 like I opined yesterday. Looking for premium opportunity to short tomorrow but I'll be cautious of the news at 1:30pm and FOMC at 7:30pm tomorrow. Not a trade call just my opinion. I don't always have the luxury of looking at my chart, so sometimes it's "set and forget"Whether looking or not, we are still taking risk. Cheers. |

richgen: @charly20
Can you see what gold has done today?
The logic is simple. It took out the buyside liquidity resting above the last week high and at the same time hitting the sell orderblock on the daily and dropped massively into the FVG and closing it completely on the daily.
I hope you were not used as liquidity along with the buyers today.
The weekly is a sell orderflow as the daily too.
And I see it going down to1799.08 on the daily to take out the sellside liquidity there.
Just my opinion though. I stayed away.... once bitten... |

richgen: Sorry for your gold loss.
I saw that the CPI at 1:30pm was being's used to drive gold down to take out liquidity and it lured so many in but then I was waiting for 2:30pm NY open liquidity and I saw the price was going nowhere but up after taking out the sellside liquidity. And it did after 2:30pm NY open.
I didn't take the gold buy because I was already waiting to enter oil sell which I did and caught some decent profits.
In my trades, I take advantage of both NY open session of 2:30pm and 3:30pm (both Nigeria time) every trading day. Sometimes trade may leave me behind waiting for the liquidity run at this times but I don't mind because no matter what I won't chase price.
I know price may offer an entry either as a premium or discount as the case maybe and if it doesn't come, I don't care. I'll wait for another day.
@charly20 kindly study these times and you'll see what I'm talking about clearly even though I know you're a swing trader.
Learn from your wounds today as I always learn from mine. It's the weekend,I'll shake it off quickly. I'm only a bit pained because it's an evaluation account that got affected but no wahala. The smaller account i took the same trades, profits from Au and EA absorbed the loss well. I'm alright. I'll study those times (2:30 and 3:30). |

Follow the map, look at the time period. I will trade till i can't trade no more. Let the week favour us all! I'm still following this map. When oil begins to tank,it may go on for weeeeks. $73 won't be a surprise. |

kozmicity: Omo... You learnt it early. I was stuck thinking that if the trade goes against me, I must've done something wrong. It was until April here that I watched 4 hours if Mark Douglas videos on trading psychology that I finally understood. That April I turned $40 to $200 folliall I learnt from him. May I did it again but I abandoned the account at 150 after just two weeks. I felt I was gambling.
I went back to the videos and there was something that caught me there he said "If you don't believe you're worth the money you're making in trading, you'll probably never make money." He also said something along the lines of you've been trading for 4 years now and you think you don't have enough knowledge? That's 4 years is enough to get a degree in school and if it was school would we feel like we weren't worth our salt?? He then said is all about mindset... If you don't feel good enough, you'll never be good enough .
That stuck with me My aim wasn't to even make profit yet but to outrightly blow the account but not with nonchalance. I tried different strategies, traded limited pairs( something i won't advice a swing trader ), watched videos and what not. What blew the account was the pairs i have now come to love and understand--- Gold, oil and Nasdaq . Ic.market's minimum lot size for those assets were between 0.5 and 1 (imagine that for $200 ) I ran the account up to $800 and was feeling fly (with dangerous lot sizes, how foolish! ). Before the next day, the account balance was $57. Naim my body cool down. In those six months, I felt the excitement from seeing plenty profit to the frustrations from losses and limited pairs to the humility of managing account small small. I'm still progressing anyway but small small, we go dey alright. |

kozmicity: Nah I think I've gotten smart enough to stay out of the market when I'm unsure. Market psychology na the real deal
Two months ago, I might've said fvck it, it's demo I have maintained this thought since I first arrived here. 15th of July will make it one year since I opened the first $200 demo account to see how fast I'd blow it. January, I blew the account but i carried the lessons with me and incorporated them into a new $100 demo account in late February Abi march sef and the $100 account is currently $500 and another $200 demo account is $300+ What is all this epistle? Put in emotions into a demo account and you'll see how fast you'll learn. WAGMI |
