Its obvious that the op is a staff of DSTV, hence the hate he feels for Startimes. Nigeria is an open market and Startimes has as much airing rights as Multichoice. Personally I'll choose Chinese products/services to those of South Africans, especially now that they have turned their backs on fellow Blacks residing in their country.

Startimes, given time and an enabling environment will do far better than Multichoice.
I'm not a staff of DSTV and won't even want to be. Too far from my field. I respect your opinion anyways. We all have our noses.

It's been confirmed by the police that the abduction was staged. She's also not Nigerian. She's fully Ghanaian. That was not her birth name. She was expelled from her secondary school for some misconduct and her old schoolmates claim she was an attention-seeker. Maybe she planned to get national attention and she got it.
If it's really true that it was staged, then she has mocked all true rape victims.

People are fed up with DSTV, their rates are high. People are also fed up with Sky in Europe, their entertainment and sports packages are expensive.

Someone said earlier that cable TV is a luxury and people insulted him. Nigerians want luxury but it doesn't come cheap. If you can't afford it, don't subscribe. It's no coincidence that no other cable TV service has not been able to serve premium sports (all sports) like DSTV at cheaper rates.

DSTV is still the biggest developer of Nigerian content in the world from Nigerian music to movies and the the Nigerian basketball and football leagues. Supersport forced the NPFL to raise standards like ensuring all stadia were television friendly. They poured $32 million (almost N7 billion) into a league people don't even watch because they want to grow it to a level that will be profitable just like the music and movies have been.

Now to StarTimes. Many people erroneously think it's a Nigerian company. StarTimes is a CHINESE company with operations in many sub-Saharan African countries like Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and soon will be in Ghana.
They partnered with NTA just like they have done with some other state broadcasters in Africa since everybody is migrating from analogue broadcasting to digital. This partnership makes the migration easier for those national broadcasters. We need to know and remember this always.

StarTimes serve cheap content and so can afford to have very low subscription fees. They don't have original Nigerian programmes like what we see on Africa Magic (Africa's most popular channel group), they haven't poured money into Nigerian sports and music. They also use the relatively cheaper DVB-T and now DVB-T2 technology as compared to DSTV's digital satellite technology.

DSTV will live on but let's just imagine they die off. StarTimes then achieves a monopoly (if we assume MultiChoice's GoTV also dies with DSTV), do we sincerely believe they'll develop original content as good as DSTV's and still charge peanuts? Definitely not!

Do we think DSTV disregards Nigerians? StarTimes can be worse. They are already flouting government directives in some other African countries. They kept importing DVB-T receivers into a certain African country even though all the digital terrestrial services had been directed to import DVB-T2 receivers. They haven't even gained a proper foothold in Ghana and some people are already alleging their contract with the government is fraudulent.

I'm neither linked to DSTV nor StarTimes. I don't even have anyone, I use FTA. I just see that many people are so misinformed and we deserve to know better.

DON'T SPREAD ADA'S NUDE PICTURES - MINISTRY

The Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry is
asking the general public, especially the media to stop
sharing vile and disturbing nude pictures of a radio
presenter who was abducted and gang raped by unknown
assailants.
Adaeze Onyinyechie Ayoka, popularly called Ms Ada, was
reported missing since last week only for nude pictures to
emerge yesterday depicting her being subjected to an
inhumane and despicable ordeal by her abductors.
The YFm reporter has been admitted at the GHAPOHA
Hospital in Takoradi, the Western Region capital, after she
was discovered on Tuesday.
“The Ministry finds it sad, that perpetrators of this heinous
crime did not only assault the victim, but also shared
photos of the act on social media,” Abraham Asare
Communications Advisor to the Social Protection Ministry
said in a statement hours after the lady was found.
Her nude images have gone viral on various social media
networks but the ministry pleaded further sharing should be
ceased.
“We also plead with media houses and the general public to
respect the privacy of the victim and stop publishing and
sharing photos of her ordeal.”
The Ministry further condemned "this reprehensible act in no
uncertain terms and trust that the police will be able to find
the perpetrators of this crime and bring them to book”.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection
promised to follow the case closely to “ensure that justice is
done”.

YFM PRESENTER HAS BEEN ABDUCTED FIVE TIMES.

The police in Takoradi have revealed that this is the fifth
time a lady presenter of YFM, who was said to have been
abducted and sexually assaulted by unknown persons, has
gone missing.
According to the police, they have recorded a total of five
incidents in the last two years and that the last incident
before this latest one was reported in February, 2015.
Police sources at Takoradi told Graphiconline’s Western
Regional Correspondent, Moses Dotsey Aklorbortu that
before she went missing last week, police intelligence picked
information she was going to go missing.
Named by her employers as Ada, the presenter of the
Takoradi-based YFM, was said to have been abducted last
week and sexually assaulted by unknown individuals. She
was found Tuesday morning and was currently receiving
treatment at the GHAPOHA Hospital in Takoradi.
She had been missing for about five days and her employers
- Global Media Alliance – owners of YFM put out her name
and asked the public to help find her.
Her abductors reportedly sexually assaulted her and took
pictures of the act, which they posted on Facebook. Some of
the pictures have also been circulating on Whatsapp.
Graphiconline’s Moses Dotsey Aklorbortu visited her at the
hospital and reported doctors as saying she was responding
to treatment. She was asleep at the time of the visit.
Doctors reported that apart from a bloodied left eye, no
other physical bruises were immediately noticeable on her.
She looked restless and could not talk.
Her dreadlocked hair had been trimmed.
The Doctors told our correspondent that she was brought to
the hospital at about 1:30am Tuesday by two young men
and a lady.
They said those who brought her to the hospital explained
that she came to the house [her house] in Takoradi at about
12:30am looking restless and requested for food since she
was hungry, but she threw the food to the ground after it
was offered to her.
They then rushed her to the hospital at Kwesimintsim from
where she was referred to the GHAPHOA Hospital. She was
sedated after admission.
The doctors told our correspondent that she looked
traumatized and would not say a word to anybody but
asked constantly about her baby and wanted to know if her
baby had eaten.
Later when some of her church members visited and the
doctors asked about the whereabouts of her baby, they
claimed she had no baby.
The Takoradi District Police Command has initiated
investigations into the latest incident.
District Police Commander DSP, Husseini Awinada told
Graphiconline's correspondent that they have not been able
to get any statement from the victim as of now as she was
still speechless.
He recalled that this is the fifth time within the last two
years that the same victim had been reported kidnapped.
He said in all those instances, the victim was unable to help
the police to unravel the case.
No arrests have been made as of now contrary to reports on
social media that one Rahman Nunoo, a boyfriend of the
lady had been implicated and arrested by the police.
Our correspondent however spotted Rahman Nunoo and
gathered that he had been instrumental in providing
information to the police in the incident.

"ADA'S RAPISTS HAVE DARK MINDS" - OMANE BOAMAH

Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has
said only persons with dark minds can perpetuate an act of
abducting and raping victims as barbarically meted out to a
popular Takoradi-based presenter.
Adaeze Onyinyechie Ayoka, known as Ms Ada of YFm, went
missing for about a week but was discovered Tuesday, a
day after nude pictures depicting acts of rape she suffered
in the hands of her captors went viral on social media.
Ada is currently undergoing counselling and examination at
GHAPOHA Hospital in Takoradi, but the Minister told Joy
News he was saddened by the news and reiterated calls on
people to stop sharing the nude images.
Dr. Omane Boamh who is a medical doctor by profession
said, “Such an ordeal could have only be contemplated by
diseased and dark minds; we will continue to urge the
security agencies to do all that they can do so that they will
bring the culprit to book…I am confident the security
agencies will do just that.”
Government will do everything possible to protect the dignity
of Ada as a lady, he assured.
Executive Director of Media Foundation for West Africa,
Sulemana Braimah, indicated that his outfit was unhappy
about how the media reported the alleged rape incident.
In his opinion, the media should have been sensitive and
more professional in the way the news was reported.
“In the morning when I heard the story and decided to check
online, I realised that almost all the online portals that had
reported this story, about kidnap and rape, had the lady’s
name disclosed, where she works has been disclosed, her
alias has been disclosed and all other things, and on some
websites it includes the photos of the alleged rape incident,”
he said.
He criticised the media for not holding on to its ethical
principles of not disclosing the identities of victims in such
cases.
“Other principles of our own GJA (Ghana Journalists
Association) code requires that we give respect to privacy
and dignity of persons, particularly when they are in grief or
distress,” he reminded journalists, emphasising, “I think the
media have failed in doing their work well in this particular
issue.”
Meanwhile, the Media Foundation for West Africa has since
issued a statement to register their disapproval of the media
reportage.

Any woman who has marriage as a "dream" is a non-achiever. That's the smallest of dreams. I feel sad seeing ladies with huge potential settle for just marriage and a job that will give them time for their homes.
As for childbearing, a woman doesn't need a husband as much as a man needs a wife.
Please let's take some of the unnecessary pressure of the shoulders of our women so they can fly as high as possible.
