no need to declare BH a secessionist group kos they're fighting for their rights.yoga jona should quickly declare an end to the war on them and recognize their right over the far northern states. after that, seal the border and execute anyone that crosses south |
ogonis should rule.. Ijos have ruled rivers so the ogonis should've their turn |
and then the Chinese would say HAO!! |
Jonathan should simply sign a non aggression pact with BH where both parties would recognize each other.this would also imply seeing areas controlled by BH as boko haramia/haramstan,where the Islamic law they so much love would be practiced. God bless the rising sun |

Only a vast Igbo Empire which had vast wealth could have yielded the artworks recovered from Igbo Ukwu. These artworks are today housed at British Museum in London. I hereby call on the Government of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Britain to immediately return the Igbo Ukwu artifacts back to Nigeria. As stated earlier Igbo Kings ruled Yoruba land from the capital ife Ife. The Igbo Kings had the title Ogene. The first Ogene was installed about 600AD while the 98th Ogene was ruling at Ife about 1100AD. Igbo Army stationed at Ife helped to sustain Igbo rule in Yoruba land. The Igbo army ruthlessly put down any uprising or challenge to Igbo rule. This Igbo Army was made up of battle tested warriors. Their battle field tactics, their doggedness and their hard fighting spirit is still remembered in legends up till today. Moremi is Yoruba girl of outstanding and exceptional beauty. Her shape, the look of her eyes and the way she shook her hips while walking were all seductively and salaciously tantalizing. It is to the credit of Moremi that her exceptional beauty is still remembered today hundreds of years after her death. A thing of beauty is a thing of joy forever. As was the custom, once an exceptionally beautiful woman was identified, Igbo soldiers would take the beauty to the Ogene - the Igbo King. Moremi was taken by Igbo soldiers to the 98th Ogene of Ife the Igbo King to be one of his wives About 1100AD, the Igbo King in Benin otherwise called Ogiso identified Oduduwa - an Edo man as a trouble maker and expelled him from Benin. Flushed out of Benin, Oduduwa headed to Ife gathering supporters as he moved. Arriving Ife, Oduduwa's group attacked the Igbo Kingdom in Ife headed by the 98th Ogene - the Igbo king. The initial attack by Oduduwa's group was repelled by the Igbo Army. As fighting continued, many Yoruba in Ife joined Oduduwa's group. Even Moremi the wife of the Igbo King - the 98th Ogene defected and joined the Oduduwa led rebellion against the Igbo Kingdom in Ife. Eventually the Igbo was defeated in Ife and Oduduwa became the ruler of Ife. Oduduwa's rule in Ife lasted less than ten years. The Yoruba were not ready to be ruled by an Edo man - Oduduwa. With the support of theY oruba - the Ooni a full blooded Yoruba man who is not a child of Oduduwa carried out a coup that outsted Oduduwa from power.· Ooni is a Yoruba expression which means "it is not your own". After the Ooni's coup, the people in Ife agreed that since the rightful owners of the throne namely the Ogene and Oduduwa both traveled to unknown place, the Ooni should in the interim be ruling in Ife. The people in Ife' however warned the Ooni to always remember that Ooni -it is not your own" .. With Oduduwa's Military Victory in Ife, Oduduwa's forces headed by Oranmiyan attacked Benin. After some fighting, the Igbo King in Benin otherwise called Ogiso (Sky) King was overthrown. Oranmiyan became the ruler of Benin. The Edo people were not ready to be ruled by a Yoruba man. Eweka with the support of Edo people carried out a coup which ousted Oranmiyan from power in Benin. Oranmiyan was lucky to escape alive from Benin. Eweka following his successful coup against Oranmiyan became Oba of Benin starting a new dynasty that exists till date. Over time Igbo lost control of Congo, Uganda, Gabon, Central African Republic, Cameroon and other places and Igbo political control became restricted to Igbo land. The collapse of the Igbo Empire created problems for Igbos. The sociopolitical environment became hostile to Igbo interests. While many Igbo choose to remain in the far flung areas of the empire, others choose to return to Igbo land. Egu and Nkalu lead a group of Igbo returnees from Congo who settled around Afikpo in Ebonyi State about 1180AD. From the Ife-Benin axis the Onitsha returnees settled in present day Onitsha town on land belonging to Obosi about 1200AD. This event led to frequent clashes and. disputes over land between Onitsha and Obosi, resulting in the "Adi amama Onitsha gwara Obosi" proverb Saga. BY: HRH. EZE MICHAEL A. The Igbo Army which was maintaining security in the empire was highly professional, efficient and effective military fighting machine. This army used iron, bronze and copper swords, and other war instruments to fight. The Igbo army possessed horses mounted with soldiers which assisted the Army to fight over vast areas. Igbo society was militarized and everyman was trained as a soldier. Traditional wrestling and fighting techniques were practiced. Valour in war fare was rewarded while cowardice and laziness was severely punished. Boats and ships assisted the Igbo to conduct trade and warfare over the sea and rivers. The great King or Eze ruling at the capital city Igbo (renamed Igbo Ukwu in 1930) derived income from a number of sources. An income tax of ten percent was levied. This tax was paid for in agricultural produce, livestock and other economic goods. There was forced labour required for public works such as the construction of roads. The Eze also derived income from customs duties charged on trade. Within the empire minerals such as copper and gold mined in the Congo was given to the Eze. Igbo also had control of tin produced in Jos, Iron in Nsukka and lead in Abakaliki. These numerous sources of income from the vast empire made the great King or Eze very powerful and rich. The great king and Igbo engaged in intercontinental and intra continental trade. The Eze or king with the vast wealth at his disposal encouraged the growth of arts, craft and industry. Cloth making and fabrication of different items using copper, iron, lead, tin and other metals flourished. Other industries include wine and gin production and soap making. To understand better Igbo Empire and Igbo civilization, it is necessary to review archeological excavation at Igbo (renamed Igbo Ukwu in 1930) and the numerous artifacts recovered from the excavated site in 1939. Isaiah Anozie was digging a toilet when many ancient artifacts were uncovered~ In 1959, Professor Thurstan Shaw - a professor of Archeology at the University ofIbadan excavated the sites. The compound of Isaiah Anozie was found to be a store house of royal regalia dating 800AD. The compound of Jonah Anozie was an ancient refuse disposal pit dating 800AD while the compound of Richard Anozie was a royal burial chamber dated 800AD. The following items were recovered from the excavated sites - The famous Igbo Ukwu bronze roped pot, bronze altar stand, bronze swords, ornaments, two ornate scabbards, bells, chains, necklaces, Pendants, anklets, staff heads, altar and wristlets. Others include copper pectoral plate, a copper fan holder,. a copper crown, copper anklets, wristlets and beaded amlets, copper pointed rods, and 150,000 glass beads. There were many bronze pots and iron blades. These items are all carbon dated to 800AD. The corpse of the great king was also found as well as five servants buried with the king. These items were made by very skilled artisans using the lost wax method of casting. They worked on metals including copper, tin, lead and iron through hammering, bending, twisting and incising. The copper and bronze works at Igbo Ukwu predate the bronze works of Ife, Benin and other parts of west and Central Africa by hundreds of years. |
By 1900 BC Igbo had settled in their present location. Two thousand five hundred years later by 600AD Igbo had built a vast empire that comprised present day Nigeria including Yoruba Land and Benin, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo, Central Africa Republic, Gabon and Uganda. This vast Igbo Empire had its capital at Igbo (renamed Igbo Ukwu in 1930) in present day Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. The Igbo Empire was ruled by a great Eze or great king whose palace was at Igbo (Igbo Ukwu). The Eze exercised religious, military, executive, judicial and administrative powers over this vast empire. The Eze had a vast Igbo Army stationed all over the empire to assist in maintaining peace. Within Nigeria, the Igbo Army was stationed at Ife, Benin and many other places. The Igbo army was also stationed in present day Congo, Uganda, Gabon and Cameroon. The Army was amphibious and could fight on land, rivers and sea. There were Igbo kings, rulers and administrators in all parts of the empire who were responsible to the great king at Igbo ( Igbo Ukwu) Specifically Igbo kings ruled Edo land with capital at present day Benin. These Igbo kings were called Ogiso by the Edo people. Their Kingship in Benin was exogenous rather than indigenous. This Kingship did not emanate from within the Edo society. The Kings were Igbo rather than Edo. To the Edo people these Kings literally fell down from the sky and started ruling. The Edo called them Ogiso Kings or Kings from the sky. By 600AD Igbo Kings otherwise called Ogiso were ruling in Benin. Igbo was also ruling Yoruba land from the Yoruba capital city ile Ife. Ile means looking at.lfe means things.ile Ife means looking at things. The first Igbo King to rule Yoruba land was installed about 600AD at Ife and had the title Ogene. Ogene means spokesman or talking musical instrument. The Igbo kings called Ogene ruled in Ife for about 500 years from 600AD to 1100AD when the 98th Ogene faced the Oduduwa led assaulted on Ife. |
