Effa:
I guess all those saying that the video was not good are people that never liked tuface and Kennis, well against all odds they came out with a nice video

I like Tuface but I am not a fan of Kennis Music, The videos they direct to me is you know what they say: another man's food is another's poison. Like I said the song is ok but definitely not on my favorite list which has nothing to do with the T-shirt. The reason why some of us are complaining about the video clip is because the exagerating of Ghana promotion. There is such thing as overdoing something and there is a way you will do something subtle it looks all natural and not obvious as a marketing strategy to increase sales in a particular country.

eleshin link=topic=67617.msg1328288#msg1328288 date=1185456468:
we all have right to our opinion but to me when 2face did a show in chicago and wore a senegalese shirt and p'ple started to criticise him all he said through his rep. then was that he represent the whole of africa not nigeria alone
Well, he was doing that in a live performance that is different then having it captured on a videoclip undecided Ofcourse, I know he represents Nigeria but I think with stunts like this which are sensitive matters to many Nigerians is not very wise marketing strategy for his image. One more thing, Akon represents the entire Africa as well for example "Mama Africa" ( I love that song) but you will not see him in his video wearing an another country t-shirt apart from Senegal. Well, I hope that the videoclip will increase in much sales in Ghana! wink
HealthRe: Pfizer Faulted Over Drug Trials In Nigeria by chichimma(f): 12:28am On Jul 27, 2007
I hope it does not dies down but seriously be proceeded by the Nigerian government without a pardon and continue to have international attention and coverage. It is time that our government shows that Nigerian people first before others! Foreign people/ organizations cannot just try anything in that country and get away with it! angry "Enough is a Enough" hope the government feels the same way!
Music/RadioRe: 2Face Idibia's New Video by chichimma(f): 11:04pm On Jul 25, 2007
It is one thing wearing a t-shirt of a country in your videoclip then trying to over promote that! How many people remembered that Faze wore a t-shirt of Jamaica in one of his videoclips he shot in Nigeria?  Did the camera focuse solely on that t-shirt and showing billboards and signs of Jamaica? The answer is no!

Honestly, I don't have a problem with an artist wearing a t-shirt of another man's country however there is a way you do it that it becomes irritating! The first time I became irritated  was with Tuface he overdid things with this song, it is too obvious and too cheap! I think on stage it would be less akward if he wore the Ghana t-shirt at a live performance in Ghana but in a videoclip whereby it is clear that they wanted those shots and Ghana in the main attention of the song. If you ask me if I still remember what the song is about I would say that it is about "If loving Ghana is a crime I want to be haunted" something like that!
Music/RadioRe: 2Face Idibia's New Video by chichimma(f): 5:56pm On Jul 25, 2007
Thank you denex, well said!

There is something like keeping your image one of the reasons why I like 2face so much is for his style and sound but if he keeps on changing his style he is just a flop artist with no backbone and true identity of what he represents. I know Kennis music will be thinking: lets go for the big money and 'Tuface wear that Ghana T-shirt with a smile on your face as if you have just gotten Ghana passport'! I guess he will win many hearts of the Ghana people while others will be saying look at this Nigerian fool with our t-shirt. Trust me some Ghanians will say that and laugh out loud!

The funny thing is someone said is a good marketing strategy! I don't think so! Kennis music should think well before they bring out a new video clip! why couldn't they keep it simple with just the signboards of Ghana and maybe even a flag! But the t-shirt is strange, I have not seen any other artist do it and if they do they are representing their country or is a football player(country) t-shirt. It is definitely some points down for Tuface undecided

I must agree with FLT123 on his points on Nigeria. As well as Angelheart's point that charity does begins at home!

Yeah the image of Nigeria worldwide is negative as well as the identity of the country. What can we do about it?
There are many things for instance to start with shaping up our identity rather than to think what the world think about us.
GO Forward Nigeria!!!!!! wink
TravelRe: Life In Nigeria. Enjoy The Pics by chichimma(f): 3:44pm On Jul 24, 2007
Most of you have said already what I have in my mind for example Angelheart !

I am tired of the Nigerians painting Nigeria black!
The way too move forward is not with pessimistic views and lamentations but with positive thinking and views!
About two years ago I choose Nigeria to do my internship prior I left the negative feedback I received from my fellow Nigerians was shocking shocked
Why am I going to do my placement in that God forsakken country? Am I crazy? Why not take a proper training in US or UK? what does Nigeria has to offer then corruption? You will come back without any achievement and empty? The list goes on and on! However that did not stop me I went and stayed approximately 8- 9 months ! I loved it and learned a lot about the company and the business environment. I felt blessed and enjoyed the things we so much miss when we are in Europe such as the family feeling, compassion, good food, fun, laughter, spirtiualism upliftment, music, beach, entertainment and so much more!

If you take the positive things that you encounter in Nigeria there is no way the negative things will overshadow. Let's show the brighter side of things in that country because there are so many of it! Last year my sister made so many pictures of the East and Lagos, I will check if I can get my hands on them and post it, you will love it!
Music/RadioRe: 2Face Idibia's New Video by chichimma(f): 2:47pm On Jul 24, 2007
The song is ok not close to my favorites of Tuface.  The videoclip is good and I love the location however  the promoting of Ghana in this videoclip is three much! I think they overdid that part. They could have kept things simple without Tuface wearing  a Ghana t-shirt. It is not necessary in the world of entertainment to over do things and loose your identity!  Yeah Tuface has always been promoting Naija in many ways in his other songs however now he is loosing consistency of his image. He is portraying now another image with this song. It looks like he will do anything to get some international recognition, which is a bit of a turn off! Does it mean that whenever he shoots in another country he will wear their T-shirt! Mmmmh, I think it would be less of a point if he wore a Nigerian T-shirt in one of these shots or just left out the Ghana T-shirt!

Do not get me wrong, Tuface should spread his wings and fly because he has talent but the way he is trying to reach his goals is not appealing to me. Represent yourself and stay true as an artist. That is why I like Akon in his songs "Mama Africa", Ghetto, etc, he always represents Senegal to the core! Anyway, I think his directors and record label "Kennis Music"are out of date when it comes to directing videoclips otherwise they would have  not be so obvious with the message and clip that it is shot in Ghana.

TravelRe: Dutch Police Raid West African Migrants' Club by chichimma(f): 6:48pm On Jun 24, 2007
@VOR

My lamentations on this issue are mainly because:

1) There is a law in the Netherlands that the hunt on people without paper is not allowed talkless about in a social environment
2) If they were looking for 419 scammers why arrest 111 people just because they have no paper. Who says that people with papers are not involved in the scams.
3) Intelligence my foot only two people they link with 419 out of 111 people. The investigation is poor they just want to use 419 as a cover up to arrest people without papers.

Yeah, most of our people like to show off and shout aloud where they get there money from to me it is not smart . However, it would be wise of the undercovers and police force to target those people directly. Most of the people that visited the venue on that day are not even regulars, they came particularly for the Osuafia show.
TravelRe: Dutch Police Raid West African Migrants' Club by chichimma(f): 10:15pm On Jun 23, 2007
There was a gathering , although I was late for the meeting they had with the representative of that part of the town.
She condemned the raid and called it a razzia and want to know why this thing happened in this part of Amsterdam.
It was exclusive on the news her statements about what our people and the representative had to say about this:

http://web.at5.nl/wp-content/plugins/embedthevideo/popup.php?url=mms://media.at5.nl/items/070622_demo_internet.wmv&height=288&width=360

Only the first part is in English the rest in Dutch, sorry peeps but what she is saying is that she condemns the police raid. Enough is enough, we are going to demonstate again and say that we have human rights whether we have papers or not! As long as we did not commit any crime and abide by the rules of the law you cant arrest me because of my skin colour or background. We went round with a petition against the raid, many people signed.  Meetings and plans are in the making, ( international) black human right organizations are involved now. This a serious matter and should not be taken lightly by our people if we love ourselves. To be continued,

@Mohadana

This has nothing to do with Igbos, many people were arrested just because they were black and did not have their documents. Not only Africans but also South- Americans, people were humilated and disgraced. Predominantly women were arrested. I don't know why you are making it a tribe thing. I am getting tired of peeps like you. The only thing you do is to point fingers which does not solve the issue. The police did not look at who is Igbo or not they wanted to kill two birds with one stone. Arrest Africans, in particular Nigerians with no paper and connect most with the 419 scams. Of the 111 people they arrested , only two persons had something to do with 419. Please, do not be ignorant to post this article and say it is a Igbo thing. Nigeria has a big problem and you can't make the Igbos the scapegoats, I can bet you that there are many articles of different states where bad, nasty and inhuman things are happening.  That is not the point, the issue here is the Dutch police raid in Amsterdam.

TravelRe: Dutch Police Raid West African Migrants' Club by chichimma(f): 2:03pm On Jun 20, 2007
This was a very inhuman and racial act of the Dutch police. It has also been condemned by Dutch parlement parties as Groenlinks and D66. In a so called civilized country one can't go to a social event  and arrest  people just on suspicision or assumptions.  Just because they know that half of the vistors do not have papers it does not automatically means that they are into 419. They even arrested 'Osuofia' and later let him go. Those of us here are quite aware that police are controlling people with no papers often in areas but for them to come and do it at social events is extreme and contraversial.

It baffles me how these people think that we are stupid. This had nothing to do with 419 but with arresting people without papers, arresting Africans, in particular Nigerians. They wanted to arrest as much as possible. Kill to birds with one stone,  let me tell you people something they have been monitoring Grand Cafe for a long time if not almost two years . This is the only place in Amsterdam where many West- Africans, South Americans come together and party,  A place they play makossa, Nigerian and Ghananian music besides the mainstream sounds.  A place that makes a lot of money in the weekends. Yeah, some of our people that go to Grand Cafe come to boast, show off and spend lots of money on the girls. They talk loud how they made this kind of money and dupe this kind of person in a public place not knowing that a lot of undercovers and snitches are there monitoring, checking, controlling and reporting. However that is not why the Dutch police should arrest 111 people. Just because they have a suspicion of one or two people. By the way , who says that people with papers or Dutch nationalities are not into 419huh? They use 419 to cover up search of illegals (I hate that word) because for the last few months this has been on the media constantly and the police think they can justify their acts by pushing it on 419.

We know better,  I hope we do! The police commissionar has to justify this week the raid of last week to the Dutch parties.  I hope something good comes out of the meeting such as releasing the 111 detainees. Otherwise I think that we Africans, (blacks) people living in the Netherlands should protest heavily about this inhuman and racial act. It is a pity that we don't have such organizations here ,  that will stand up for the Nigerians and Africans in this part of the world. Officially, Grand Cafe is over and if I was one of the organizers or managers I would bring the police to court. It is a big disgrace and offence that the so called abiding law officers implemented on that day.

A good speech from a great role model to us Africans.
I am happy when I hear wise Nigerians speak ( especially, a woman) and look at the positive side of the continent.
We know all about the negative associations that encounters Africa now is time to focus on the positive elements.
I wish more leaders are like that in Nigeria.

Prepare the continent to be delivered from all the evil and negative associations.

I have a book from Agatha Christie "The Secret Adversary", after I read three pages I could not continue it was too boring for me, it puts me to sleep.

I still have it in my book collection. I will try to finish it to give it a proper judgement. As for now I am enjoying "Pop goes the weasel" by James Patterson. A follow up of "Cat and mouse". It is thrilling and catching! Non- fiction lovers should read those novels.
FamilyRe: Life At 30 When You're Not Married by chichimma(f): 12:43am On May 25, 2007
Life at 30 can be sweet when your still single as well as a sour.
It all depends all yourself what you want in a relationship and whether you are willing to settle for less or for good things.
Two of my sisters are above thirty years and they are ok ofcourse they get pressure from our environment, especially my mom wants to have grandchildren. I don't blame her all moms do want that. As for my sisters they should not settle for less and end up in a complicating situation like divorce just for the sake of the status being married. They are both career women, quite doing well. I do think that they are thinking of marriage and kids but just haven't found the 'right' man that will be supportive with their careers among others.

As Nite- Angel said it is not a Nigerian thing but all over the world. However, I think Africans in general put a lot of emphasizes on this matter, especially North Africans, I think the girls have it worse than Nigerians. I say this because I know many that are not married and are in their mid twenties and are going to hell of a time by their environment and seen like they are rebellious towards their culture and so on. Peer and environment pressure will remain don't let that put you down.

My advice to the 30 year single women is to excell in life and enjoy life to the fullest because there are many women that couldn't reach this age. Don't be too demanding in a man but don't settle for less either wink.

Thank you for those wise words! cheesy

I want to make something straight we did not have an affair it was a six-year relationship which had its ups and downs. We were even engaged to get marriage his people went to my people (the first knock). However extreme situations that encountered didn't allow it to go for the second knock. We were serious that is why it is almost impossible not to continue a friendship since we are not a couple anymore. As you said God knows the future. We can plan and carry out as humans but our destiny and fate lies in God hands.

Pop goes the Weasel------ James Patterson
RomanceRe: Can It Work After A Four Years Break? by chichimma(op): 1:00am On May 18, 2007
Hi all,

I am back from the trip to my ex. I spend about five days with which three days were intensive talking about the ultimatum he gave me. It was very hard to come to a conclusion however as I mentioned in my previous post that I came to a decision. I was still doubting a lot whether I made the right one.

On the third day of my visit I told him that I don't want to continue with him simply because I am not in love anymore and that I have changed and felt that we have grown apart. His response was that he can't be friends with me anymore. At that time he recieved a call and had to leave for a while. We both were thinking about what was discussed. I felt bad because I always saw him as my best friend even when we were in a relationship however if he couldn't live with the thought of being just friends I could accept it.

When he came back we spoke again and he was practically asking for another trial. He felt I owed it to him after everything we went through. I told him that there is no way I can continue this relationship with no real feelings of love in the sense that you need to love someone. I know myself and I know that I am not able to give it a 100 percent of my devotion. He accepted and agreed in being friends however he is not going to stop trying to get me back even if I meet someone else for marriage.

I believe I made the right decision after so many years. There is thing about love . You need it in every relationship it is one of the driving forces that keeps it going. At one point in the relationship the 'in love' converts into 'love' nothing wrong with that but you need the 'in love' ( at least I do) to create the foundation of relationship.

Since the 'in love' was years ago and so many things happened along the line. I feel that I cant give myself again.

What do you think about my decision and point of views?
