wow! This is interesting to know...

But... What are they doing to promote their culture. What effort are they making to sell their tribe & culture to the world.

One thing i have discovered is that it is not enough to claim to belong to this ZOO called Nigeria... It is good we tell our own stories. It is good we tell people where we come from. It is good we tell people how our people behave.

This is the only flavour that can keep us from batching each other. Though this ZOO is becoming too boring for people like me... I want to be called a BIAFRAN but for now that we all are still living inside this zoo. Let these celebrities from minority groups or tribes... Do more songs & make more movies in their language & culture.

This thread is not pulling trafic because it is not condemning any tribe or culture or batching GEJ.

Where are the JUKUNS in Nairaland... Come and talk about your tribe & culture... Do not be ashamed.

So what, if you don't have any debt. It simple means you did not do anything outstanding. The fact is outstanding infrastructure can only be covered by taking loans. He was just a plain plain governor abeg
you have lied sir. Someone can leave outstanding infrastructure without taking a single lone. If you minimise waste spending & useless partying & money sharing, you can do something meaningful without taking loan.

Take Anambra for example. Mr Peter Obi was Anambra governor for 8years without taking a single loan. He left Anambra state debt free with lots of saving for the new government to kick start with.

All the 177 communities in Anambra state are connected with good roads.

All the public secondary schools have at least 2 news structures. Some schools like QRC onitsha, CKC etc are looking like a mini university campuses.

He started 3 big utra morden shoping malls (nnewi, awka & onitsha) which Obiano is about completing.

He focused so much on foundation laying which has helped this present government of Gov Obiano to riding high.

What i am saying is that any government that mean well for his people will give them the basic things first. Lay good foundation before going into sending men to moon.

Life is all about choice & planning. Many governors inflate price of things & take loan to meet up with their useless life style.

Loan is important & it helps but it is not a must... Planning well can keep you debt free...

He deserves that award. Buhari should give him a very good appointment. We need people like Shema regardless of their political party. No wonder he didn't campaign much for GEJ because he knows what is right. He only cares about the well being of his people.
how can he campaign for GEJ when Buhari is from that state? U dont know how notherners think. Congrats to him... He has joined the like of Mr Peter Obi in leaving a state debt free after 8years.

Though until we hear from his successor... Lets still keep our fingers crossed.

Jukun are an ethno-linguistic group or ethnic nation in West Africa. The Jukun are traditionally located in Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Adamawa, and Gombe States in Nigeria and parts of northwestern Cameroon. They are descendants of the people of the Kwararafa kingdom. Most of the tribes in the north central of Nigeria trace their origin to the Jukun people and are related in one way or the other to the Jukuns. If not for the coming of both Christianity and Islam the Jukun people were traditionalists. Most of the tribes, Alago, Agatu, Rendere, Gumai in Shendam, and others left Kwararafa when it disintegrated as a result of a power tussle. The Jukuns are divided into two major groups; the Jukun Wanu and Jukun Wapa. The Jukun Wanu are fishermen residing along the banks of the river Benue and Niger where they run through Taraba state, Benue state and Nasarawa state.[citation needed] The Wukari Federation, headed by the Aku Uka of Wukari, is now the main center of the Jukun people.[2]

History
Kwararafa
The Jukun-speaking peoples trace their ancestry to the rulers of the kingdom of Kwararafa, a state which existed in Western Africa from the 14th through to the 18th centuries.

Modern history[edit]
As a result of the Fulani conquests at the beginning of the 19th century, the Jukun-speaking peoples became politically divided into various regional factions.[1] By the 1920s, the main body of the Jukun population, known as the Wapâ, resided in and around Wukari, where they were governed by the local king and his administration.[1] Other Jukun-speaking peoples living in the Benue basin, such as those of Abinsi, Awei District, Donga and Takum, remained politically separate from the Wukari government, whilst the Jukun-speakers living in Adamawa Province recognised the governorship of the Fulani Emir of Muri.[1]

In the post-colonial period, Nigeria has suffered violence which is the result of multiple ethnic tensions between the different communities living in the country. Ethnic tension exists between the Jukun and the neighbouring Tiv community.

Socio-political organisation
Monarchy[edit]
Traditionally, Jukun society was governed by a monarchy.

Studies of the Jukun[edit]
In 1931, the academic publishing company Kegan Paul, Trubner & Co. published A Sudanese Kingdom: An Ethnographic Study of the Jukun-speaking Peoples of Nigeria, a book which had been written by the Briton C.K. Meek, the Anthropological Officer stationed with the Administrative Service in Nigeria.

source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jukun_people_(West_Africa)

Jukun, a people living on the upper Benue River in Nigeria, commonly believed to be descendants of the people of Kororofa, one of the most powerful Sudanic kingdoms during the late European Middle Ages. The ruins of a great settlement to the northeast of the Jukun’s present location are thought to be those of the capital of that kingdom, but the claim has not been thoroughly investigated by archaeologists.

The population speak a language of the Benue-Congo branch of the Niger-Congo family. The people comprise a congeries of many smaller groups, each organized on a different basis, although polygynous extended families seem to be the dominant unit.

The Jukun traditionally possessed a complex system of offices, which had both a political and a religious aspect; the priesthood practiced an involved form of religion marked by diurnal and annual rounds of ritual and sacrifice. The king, called Aka Uku, was—until he became a member of northern Nigeria’s house of chiefs in 1947—a typical example of a semidivine priest-king.

no sir! We have an organised body. Just that Ngige is working very had to remain relevant in scheme of things that happen in Igboland & also in APC.
Having lost Anambra guber election to Obiano after all the noise & how he made APC chieftains to believe he is the “best man“ for the job & that every human in Anambra loves him.
He also failed woefully during the senate elections. He is trying to keep playing on the intelligence of APC big wigs.
Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is still one & 100s of Ngige cant change that.
Am so very sure that Baba Buhari & Jagaban know verywell that all Ngige & Rochas are doing is to make sure that they are not asked to refund the mobilisation fund given to them to use during the election.

The feud between Awo and Zik arrested the development of this country. Sad. Just sad. Every bad blood between Igbos and Yorubas could arguably be traced to these men.
lolzzzz... Keep Zik out of this story here.

If ZIK has been an Igbo the way he has been a Nigerian, BIAFRA might have been a success.

Our fathers were fighting for freedom but Zik was busy preaching ONE NIGERIA.

Zik has remained the ONLY Nigerians who never cared about HIS own people but about the whole Nigeria.

And he paid dearly for it. He died without becoming anybody in Nigeria. Though he is highly imortalised by the government of this ZOO. The truth is that aprt from street names and other things, ZIK means nothing to the avarage IGBO man. But Chukwuemeka Odumegwu is GREAT HERO... WELL RESPECTED EVEN AFTER HIS DEATH.

soon you will die the way he died. Ndi Igbo do not need to be given food or money, what we NEED is FREEDOM.

We are tiered of this ZOO. BIAFRA WANTS FREEDOM & not food.

Zonacom:
I've read Achebe's memoir and some other account of the civil war from different authors. One thing i can deduce is that the major players in the war all made several mistakes. If Awolowo claims that he stopped the passage of food to biafran civilians because of its hijack by soldiers, what then will he say about the Red cross plane that was shot down en route biafra?
humn... Good point you made here...

If actually Awo is the one that said all these things then i have to join those that claimed he died of suicide.

Why give the people you re killing food? Why did the government of this ZOO at that time sell Bakassi to Ahmadu Ahidjo of Cameroun? Is it not to stop the french government & ivory coast from sending aids to the land of Biafra.

I grew up in Cameroun, i read my civil account in cameroun & i heard things from camerounians what you will never hear in Nigeria about the civil war. If you cross over to cameroun, you will hear the attrocities committed by the government of this ZOO and how hausa solidarity made ahidjo to steal aids that were meant for the Biafrans.

What i know is that Gowon is alive & have been working hard trying to attone for his crimes against innocent Biafrans. But until he comes to the land of BIAFRA & plead for forgiveness, he might never find the peace he has been searching for through organising prayer conferences here & there.

In this interview, Awo claimed that only 3 of them knew about currency change. This is sounding funny. So the money was not minted by a minting company?

He tlked about a committee or panel set up under his ministry without him making any contribution nor appointing any of its member.... Another funny lie. How can anything happen in a ministry without the federal commissioner being a part?

It is truely obvious that this man Killed himself, only GOD KNOWS why...

As sensible as this writeup is, this is the part I don't agree with......... Majority of them are beneficiaries of free education so why deny the present generation what they themselves benefit from. They should focus on all other areas to do their cut saving measures.
well he said before Awo started the free education scheme he had everything worked out, but these governors do not work out things. They just embark on an unplanned journey.

Now consider this: what is the benefit of free education when there is no teacher to teach? If Osun teachers for examples stay home cos of unpaid salary, how will that benefit the pupils? I think the main thing is for these governors to develop means of increasing their IGR first, before embacking on feeding their citizens.

MrOlai:
1. Fornication/Adultery is a grievous sin in the sight of God.

2. Sex unites bodies and souls of the two persons involved together, physically and spiritually.
This is why God Almighty prescribes it only for the married couples.

3. Latest Scientific Research on Telegony.
According to the new research, if a woman has sex with any man, the woman would retain some genetic traits from the man in her body and these would be transferred to her babies!

4. The presence of genetic traits of any man in a woman's body, through sex, who is never her husband is a spiritual curse and this curse could be transferred to her children.

5. Guilt and Regret.
Those who go into fornication/adultery eventually regret.

So, my people, stay off boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. It's actually a euphemism for fornication/adultery. Face your studies, pray and work hard. Then, plan and wait for your time to do the right thing - marriage. With this, you'll be highly blessed and you'll have no cause to regret on this.
Many people preach or write about their struggles...
eg... when a man talks more about how bad stealing is... it means he has issues with stealing... i mean he is a thief or struggling with "thieving."
What i am saying is that, probably you have issues with sex... I mean you struggling with controlling your sexual urge... God help.. though

keeping a girl/boy friend does not translate into sex... Experience told me this... I kept many female friends for years without any form or act of sex... you better have a rethink...
