Christianity EtcCAN Postpones Protest Till Further Notice by chikachuks1(op): 11:03pm On Jul 10, 2018
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has postponed until further notice its planned public protest slated for July 11, 2018.

It said it postponed the march due to some circumstances beyond its control.

CAN President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, made the announcement in a statement signed by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji , his Special Assistant, Media and Communication.

However, Ayokunle said the three-day prayer and fasting would hold as scheduled from July 9 to 11, 2018 in all churches and state chapters of CAN.

He disclosed that the church and denominational leaders would come to the National Christian Centre together with the National Executive Committee (NEC), of CAN on the July 11 at 10am to pray to God for the nation.

It would be recalled the leadership of CAN had declared July 9 to 11 as National Day of prayers and fasting programme against the killings across the country.

The association also called on all Nigerians, both within and outside the country to take part in the programme.

The association said the decision was hinged on the wilful and persistent killings of fellow citizens in general and Christians in particular, mostly in Plateau and Benue states where mass burial has become the norm.

” CAN is worried, disturbed and disappointed that despite all the clarion calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to re-organise his security team by replacing all the security chiefs, he has consistently not responded to such calls,” the association said

Education10 Commandments For Every Success Oriented Student by chikachuks1(op): 3:38am On Jul 05, 2018
Success is the focus of every student, yet it is achieved by few. This is inline with out commitment to help young people to become successful in their spheres of endeavor. Success has a given pathway and only those who tow that path end up as successful students. I have brought out these 10 commandments for every successful student in the making. Although, success is not limited to these commandments but I can guarantee the possibility and work-ability of these commandments. Remember that commandments are meant to be obeyed, therefore as you read, strive to obey them.

1) Thou shall not forget the Lord your God: He is the giver of true success. God remains the fountain of all knowledge, wisdom and understanding. If you must become a successful student and end your studies well, then you must not forget God. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him. Therefore the first place of reverence must be given to Him. Reverence and fear Him.

2) Thou shall avoid unnecessary distractions: Be single minded. Focus on your goal. There are many students who started well but gave heed to distractions and ended badly. Distractions will take you away from your pathway. Remember that you are in school to study, therefore, full attention should be given to your studies which is the singular reason for which you are in school. Be focused.

3) Thou shall shun unprofitable friends: Bad company corrupt good morals. Unprofitable friends will not help you. A popular adage says, “Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are”. If we actually want to know you, your friends will speak volume on that matter. If you are to take a survey of all the young boys and girls leading bad lives in the society, you will find out that many of them act under the influence of friends. As much as good friends will make you, bad ones will break and mar you. Good friends are your pillars while bad friends are your caterpillars. Good friends will build you while bad ones will demolish you. Be wise

4) Thou shall not yield to examination malpractice: Unfortunately, examination malpractice has become something inevitable in the lives of Nigerian students. Examination malpractice has made Nigerian education system to become one of the worst in the world. What will you teach your children tomorrow if you involved in examination malpractice today. Many people now say that Nigerian graduates are unemployable. It is simply because of malpractice. Do not deceive yourself, any result gotten through examination malpractice is a fake result and cannot be defended. It is very unfortunate that most people who claim to be spiritual are never spiritual in examination hall. Examination malpractice is evil. Shun it.

5) Remember to read your book every day: Reading people are always knowing people says the popular preacher – John Wesley. If you must be a successful student, you must pay more attention to your books than even you food and clothes. Read until hard becomes easy. Read until difficult becomes simple. No course or subject is ever difficult to someone who will pay attention to studying.
https://infoducation.com.ng/successful-student/
6) Have an actionable action plan or time table: Action plan and timetable helps a great deal in rationing our time properly. Sometimes, you might feel that 24 hours is too small for you, maybe because you did not achieve much that day. In order to solve the problem of wasting time, you must have an action plan. Everybody has more than one activities to execute daily, sometimes, we wake up with fear because of the numerous workload that will have ahead of us that day. Therefore, if you must maximize your time, get yourself an actionable easy-to-follow timetable.

7) Love all your course and lecturers: Till date, I am not good in chemistry and I don’t ever pray to jam chemistry in life again. What was the problem? From SS1, I hated my chemistry teacher and because of that I was always at the back sit making noise whenever we go for the class. It was like play and it affected me negatively. The 3 years I spent in senior secondary school and my year one in the university, I passed chemistry on twice. Therefore, if you must pass, never hate any subject or lecturer (teacher). Pay attention to all subjects and become friend with all your teachers.

cool Take your note, assignments, classes and tests very seriously: Be serious with copying notes, doing assignments, attending classes and take our test very seriously. Never neglect any of these that I listed. The seemingly little one has the ability of making you repeat a class or have a carry over.

9) Build your study network: Have your team. Reading teams will help you a great deal. For example, if you have a reading team of 4 people and you are to face mathematics, you might not be able to understand all the topics for that term or semester. With your reading team, if you have 12 topics for that term or semester, you could share the topic into 4 so that everyone will go and read and then come and teach. It helped us when we were preparing for our WAEC. In my team, we were 3 and we paid attention to the 5 most difficult subjects we had (Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics). How did this strategy he me in particular? I taught mathematics and physics. Whenever I want to read, I read as a teacher, not just to know it but to know it to the extent that I will be able to teach it. Then for the ones that I don’t know like chemistry, it was easier to understand it when my mate taught it than when a teacher does because the teacher has a limited time and want to cover a lot in this little time, but we had all the time to ourselves.

10) Make sure you see no course as difficult: Surmount every mountain and cross every river. If there appears to be any difficult course or subject to you, it does not actually mean that the course is difficult. It’s just a way of saying that you need to pay more attention to it. Bear it in mind that any course or subject that appears difficult was invented by a human being like you. The same course is passed by human beings like you. All you need is to give it time and before long, the difficulty will be nowhere to be found.

Having said all these, it is important to state that these are practical, tested and trusted steps that has proven reliable and true over time. I am a graduate and therefore, I think I am more experienced than some set of people. Therefore, I also see it as a privilege of advising the young ones. Try these steps and see the outcome, if you will not end as a successful student.

Career19 Actionable Tips To Become A Successful Youth by chikachuks1(op): 3:43am On Jun 29, 2018
The goal of everyone in life is to be successful. We have compiled 19 actionable tips to become a successful youth. Seeing that this 21st century provides a large platform which can accommodate young people who are success oriented, therefore, this article will go a long way in helping you achieve your desired success. Truth be spoken, to be a successful youth is not bread and butter. It involves series of steps and activities. After reading this article, i will guarantee that you are the next on the list of successful youth.

1) Do not forget your God:
It is very paramount and important to know that God should be the number one in our daily life. Therefore, if you must succeed, you must not forget God. God is critical to our existence, therefore we must not run faster than Him.

2) Plan your life: The popular saying is that he who fails to plan, plans to fail. In life, if success must be achieved, then life must be planned. Planning help you take calculated steps. A life that is well planned cannot be distracted. Therefore, make sure you plan your life thoroughly.

3) Be focused: You must stay focused to prove that you are a tough minded and success oriented youth. After planning your life, the next thing is to stay focused to your plan. Pursue your goals with singleness of mind.

4) Work hard: Hard work on the path to success cannot be replaced by any other thing. If you plan your life without working hard, nothing will be achieved at the end. So work hard now to enjoy tomorrow.

5) Believe that nothing is impossible: There are lots of impossible things to people, but live your life as though nothing is impossible. Live your life with the “I can do” spirit. Those things that we claim they are impossible, it is still someone like us that will do them. Therefore put effort and never believe that anything is impossible for you. Mountains can still be surmounted and rivers can still be crossed.

6) Never give up: Do you think you have tried hard and you now want to give up. Try again until you have tried again and when you have tried again then try again. The last thing you do before you give up is to try again. In that case, keep trying again and in no distant time, success will come calling.

7) Read books: Reading people are always knowing people. If you ever see a man who is intelligent, check him well he is a man that reads. Therefore, on the pathway to success, many ideas are hidden in books and it takes only a reader to unravel them. Read books but make sure you do not read anyhow books. Read success oriented books like books by Robert Kiyosaki, John Mason, Ben Carson etc.

cool Do not misuse the internet: The internet poses the highest distraction to success oriented youths. Most young people spend excess time on social media doing nothing reasonable. Think about it, what do you achieve from all those long stay on Facebook, whatsapp, instagram and others? Chatting with friends and reading timeline posts only. Too bad. If you must succeed, then make sure you make good use of the internet, else the internet will mar you.

9) Be a problem solver and solution provider: One way of been completely outstanding is by solving problems. The most relevant people in the society are those who solve problems. Remember, problem solving or providing solutions can take you to a height you never expect.

10) Be open minded: Been open minded is one important thing needed on your track to success. Be always ready to learn. Be teachable. Be positively inquisitive. But yet, mind what you allow into your heart so that you will know what controls you. You have a lot to learn and there are lots of people to teach you. Learn from your seniors. Learn from your mates. Never forget to learn from your juniors as well.

11) Congregate with successful people: To succeed, you must work with successful people. Success is transferable. If you are in the company of 19 successful people, then you will soon be the 20th person.

12) Be a standard and an example to others:
Be different from others of your age bracket. Been positively different will make you outstanding. You must make sure that you are not swallowed up by the crowd. If you can be positively different, you will become an example. You will hear younger ones saying they want to be like you when they grow up.

13) Do not be limited by anything including money: There are lots of limiting factors which have made a lot of young guys to give up. But for you, refuse to be limited by anything and by anybody – not even money. Do not be among those that will keep excusing themselves because of lack of money. Don’t expect any body to dash you money, work for the money.

14) Pray always: In all your endeavors, you must pray always else, you might not achieve anything.

15) Believe in yourself:
I want to tell you that you can do it. Believe in yourself. Believe you can do it and nothing will be impossible for you. If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody will ever believe in you. Therefore, the first thing to do in building people’s confidence in you is to first of all believe in yourself.

16) Watch reasonable movies: Reasonable movie go a long way in shaping and reshaping your life. Do not just pay attention to some useless and porn movies. If you must watch, then watch those ones that has something positive to teach you.

17) Spend wisely: Young people are known for wasteful spending. But if you must succeed, then you case must be different. Spend wisely and make sure you save a lot. Remember, you are not a big man by how much you spend, rather by how much you have. A man who does not have a car but has three million naira is richer than a man who has a car of five million naira and then has cash of fifty thousand naira. Therefore, ensure you spend wisely and prudently.

18) Be proactive: Be proactive and not reactive. Be proactive, don’t be procrastinating. The path to success cannot contain everybody, but it can contain every proactive person in it. Look forward. In fact, do not let the day dawn before you plan yourself. It is better you treat yourself today before the sickness comes tomorrow.

19) Do little things:
You must learn to do little things, bearing in mind that little drops of water makes a mighty ocean. It might be little and humiliating, yet do it and collect the money. Don’t be shy. If you are shy of your girlfriend, she will still come to beg you for money and it could be your proceeds from the little thing that you will use to help her out

This are the little tips we have for you. As you journey on the pathway to becoming a successful youth, ensure that you leave no stone unturned. Be thorough and dogged. Safe journey to your destination of been a successful youth

Christianity EtcWhy I Collected ₦260 Million – Bishop Of Lagos Diocese Speaks Out by chikachuks1(op): 10:54am On Jun 26, 2018
The Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Adebola Ademowo, pushed back vehemently on claims that he misappropriated ₦260 million belonging to the church.

The letter, dated March 1 and addressed to Nicholas Okoh, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, was a response to accusations of financial impropriety and election malpractice levelled by some members of the church against Mr Ademowo.

While presenting his achievements in the church in his almost two decades as bishop to the Primate, Mr Ademowo detailed the origin of the recent controversy which has embarrassed the church and exposed its leaders to ridicule.

Ten members, who identified themselves as prominent financial members and elders in the church, had accused Mr Ademowo of causing division and hatred among members, receipt of funds from the Diocesan Board for his personal use, and the placing of his family members in strategic positions.

The aggrieved members also accused the bishop of manipulating the electoral process that led to the emergence of Humphrey Olumakaiye as his successor.

In his letter to the Primate, Mr Ademowo maintained that his 18 years as bishop of the Lagos Diocese has put the church on a strong financial footing more than ever before.

“It was alleged that my period in the Diocese of Lagos was a disaster,” Mr Ademowo began.

“I came to the Diocese and met the sum of ₦1.5 million only on the account with a salary bill of over ₦3 million per month for the clergy excluding other workers.

“I have by the grace of God, within the period of my Episcopacy been able to place the Diocese on strong financial footing.

“We have 32 flats buildings in Lekki Phase 1, generating over ₦50 million for the Diocese annually.

“We have a flat in Ikoyi generating over ₦10 million for the Diocese annually. We also have an hostel for the Diocese of Lagos built at Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, generating over ₦20 million annually.”

Mr Ademowo said the foundation for the allegations against him was laud at the Vestry meeting of the Cathedral on February 25, 2018.

“At the said Vestry meeting, a vast majority of the Cathedral members made it known that their silence is only on account of their desire for peace and pursuit of same and not because they were in agreement with the fallacious and provocative allegations.”

Mr Ademowo said contrary to the allegation that he had promoted hate and division, the clergy of the Lagos Diocese are more united than they had ever been.

“When I came they rarely related with one another,” the bishop said.

“But by the grace of God, we have a policy now which promote the motto of ‘for one is for all.’ My clergy are a living witness to my ministry in promoting unity and harmony among them.”

In addition to ensuring that the monthly stipends for the clergy never exceeds the 22nd of every month, Mr Ademowo said he also initiated interest-free loans to enable them buy lands and develop their personal buildings in preparation for their retirement.

The bishop also dismissed claims that he approved the publication of photographs of himself and Mr Olumakaiye, his successor, in the church’s calendar ahead of the election. He said it was practice of the women in the Diocese to reflect, in their annual Almanac, bishops and priests as well as the laity who performed major roles in the church.

On the allegation that he collected ₦200 million to build his retirement house, Mr Ademowo said it is an “established fact” that houses are built for retiring bishops and vehicles purchased for them by their dioceses.

He said he had already begun plans for the building of his retirement house before it came to the knowledge of the Diocesan Board who then decided to support him with ₦200 million.

“I will like to bring to your notice that the Diocese of Lagos West built a house for The Rt. Revd Dr. Peter Adebiyi at a cost of over ₦200 million in 2013, the Diocese of Lagos Mainland built and furnished a house for The Most Revd Prof Adebayo Dada Akinde on retirement for over ₦250 million for his services to the Diocese of Lagos Mainland for about ten years in the year 2016.

“I would have spent over 18 years as the Bishop of Lagos on retirement.”

Christianity EtcDelegates Of Anglican Conference: ‘we Must Defend The Gospel Against Threats by chikachuks1(op): 3:55pm On Jun 25, 2018
Delegates for the just concluded Anglican conference from around the world, known as the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON), have released an open letter committing to “defend the gospel against threats from without and within,” and calling upon others to do so as well.

The letter notes that in these modern times, there are not only those who actively reject Christ and push ungodly agendas, but those who profess the name of Christ while holding to unorthodox and dangerous doctrines.

“External attacks include superstitious practices of sacrifices and libations that deny the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice. Some religions deny the unique person and work of Christ on the cross, and others are innately syncretistic,” it outlines.
http://www.christianityupdate.com/blog/delegates-anglican-conference-must-defend-gospel-threats-without-within/

“Secularism seeks to exclude God from all public discourse and to dismantle the Christian heritage of many nations. This has been most obvious in the redefinition of what it means to be human, especially in the areas of gender, sexuality and marriage,” the open letter states.

It also cites the ongoing devaluation of the human race through abortion advocacy and euthanasia, which it characterizes as “an assault upon human life uniquely created in the image of God.”

“Militant forms of religion and secularism are hostile to the preaching of Christ and persecute his people,” the delegates note.

The letter additionally points to the problem of prosperity preaching infiltrating the churches, as well as theological revisionism.

“Internally, the ‘prosperity gospel’ and theological revisionism both seek in different ways to recast God’s gospel to accommodate the surrounding culture, resulting in a seductive syncretism that denies the uniqueness of Christ, the seriousness of sin, the need for repentance and the final authority of the Bible,” it laments.

The delegates at the Anglican conference mourn that many pastors do not sound an alarm against threats to the gospel, whether they be from without or within.

“Tragically, there has been a failure of leadership in our churches to address these threats to the gospel of God,” the letter states. “We repent of our failure to take seriously the words of the apostle Paul: ‘Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number, men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them’ (Acts 20:28-30).”

They also lament that American Episcopalians and some Anglicans have turned their backs on a 1998 resolution affirming Christ’s teachings in Matthew 19 that God created marriage to be between a man and a woman. Adding to the downgrade is the lack of discipline by the Instruments of Communion, which includes the archbishop of Canterbury, in light of such developments.

“During the past twenty years, the Instruments of Communion have not only failed to uphold godly discipline but their representatives have refused to recognize our concerns and have chosen instead to demean GAFCON as a one-issue pressure group and accuse it of promoting schism, where in fact the schismatics are those who have departed from the teaching of the Bible and the historic doctrine of the Church,” the delegates contend.
http://www.christianityupdate.com/blog/delegates-anglican-conference-must-defend-gospel-threats-without-within/
“Slogans such as ‘walking together’ and ‘good disagreement’ are dangerously deceptive in seeking to persuade people to accommodate false teaching in the Communion,” they opine.

The delegates at the Anglican conference also outline that while they grieve, they have not lost hope in potential reforms.

The group says that they have committed afresh to proclaiming the gospel to the nations, and have repented of the times that they have failed to take Christ outside of the walls of the church.

“We repent for the times and seasons when we have only preached to ourselves and not embraced the difficult task of reaching beyond our own cultural groups in obedience to God’s call to be a light to the nations (Acts 13:47). In faith and obedience, we joyfully recommit ourselves to the faithful proclamation of the gospel,” the letter reads, pointing to strategies that were discussed at the conference, which include;
1) Church planting efforts
2) Global missions partnerships
3) An intercessor’s fellowship.
4) Being a voice for the voiceless
5) Advocating for the oppressed
6) Protecting women and children
7) Caring for the poor
cool Reaching out to those persecuted for the name of Christ.

“To proclaim the gospel, we must first defend the gospel against threats from without and within,” the delegates reiterate. “ We dedicate ourselves afresh to proclaiming Christ faithfully to the nations, working together to guard the gospel entrusted to us by our Lord and his apostles.”

This year’s GAFCON conference was held in Jerusalem and more than 1,900 representatives were stated to be in attendance.
