Education / Having A Good Reading Timetable by chikachuks1(m): 3:57am On Sep 09, 2018
Your success in life depends on your ability to plan both effectively and efficiently. The importance of a good and actionable reading timetable for student cannot be overemphasized. I doubt if it will be necessary to define what a timetable is because from primary school, you have been using it. But for this article, attention will be paid to reading timetable.

A reading timetable is an organized plan or calendar that aids you organize the courses you offer and how to read each of them. This tool is an inevitable tool necessary for every student. As we hope and work towards a better education system whereby students will go back to thorough studying of their books without dependence on examination malpractice.
Importance of a Good Reading Timetable

The next thing to consider is the importance of a good reading timetable. Why must you have a reading timetable? This question will be answered in these few points below.

1) Reading is critical to your success: Someone said, “reading people are always knowing people”. Examination malpractice is on its increase because reading is gradually going into extinction. Your reading timetable will help you a lot, seeing that reading is very critical and instrumental to your success.

2) It helps you organize your day: A good and organized reading timetable will help you plan your day in general. For example, if you reading time is between 2pm-6pm daily, it then means that you will not schedule any other activity within this time. Reading timetable will help you to achieve this.

3) It helps you not to read at random: The problem many students have is that the read without a plan. For example, if your most favorite course is mathematics, chances are that you might want to read mathematics everyday as if it is the only course you are offering. If you have an organized reading timetable, it will help you maximize your time and study every course weekly.

4) It makes you more focused: A good reading timetable will make you more focused that normal. For example, a man who has a target in running will be more focused than someone who is just running.

5) Difficult courses are made simple: If you have your reading timetable and you plan to read those difficult courses twice a week, you will find out that they will become simple with time.

6) It helps you to maximize your time: If you want to learn how to maximize your time wisely, then a reading timetable serves as an important tool. If for example, you want to read for 2 hours today, the timetable will help you maximize your time, seeing that you have only 2 hours to surmount a great mountain.

7) You stand the chance to cover your course outline: A reading timetable will aid you to cover your course outline before the semester ends. This is because you might be reading a course more than once in a week. This tool helped me in my undergraduate years to cover some courses twice within a semester. If you try it, you will find out that it works just fine.

cool You will read ahead of your lecturer: With this tool, you stand the chance to read ahead of your lecturer. Many lecturers do not attend lectures weekly, but you will surely read each course every week.
Conclusion

We have only stated few of the points here for your consumption. If you must be a successful student, then you must study to show yourself approved. The aim is not just to graduate with a good grade, but to be very knowledgeable. This is because many people go about with nice results, yet they cannot defend it. If you want to succeed in your academics, then you must study. If you must read well, then you needs a very good and well planned reading timetable.

The age of retirement from civil service is 70years. Therefore I recommend that we do not vote in anyone who is above 70 or who will be more than 70years after his administration.
It is time for us to use our head and act wise. My fellow youths, I plead that we do not sell off our right because of little money that will serve nothing. These men we are campaigning for don't care about us a bit. Once they win, they shut the door till next election. Never support any man whom his children has been sent abroad within this period. If they are really serious, let their family members be at the fore front.
Also anyone who pays money to buy votes has nothing to offer.
BE WISE.

Education / An Advice To All Freshmen by chikachuks1(m): 3:52am On Sep 07, 2018
We want to start by congratulating all freshmen who has gained provisional admission into the higher institution (University, Polytechnic or college of education). Some of you gained admission immediately after your secondary school. I must congratulate you specially for this because there was not delay on your pathway. Yet some of you guys wrote JAMB or WAEC severally before this one favoured you. I must also without fail congratulate you for your new gotten admission. It was not easy waiting at home and seeing your mates in the higher institution.

But then, in the celebration mood, we want to use this medium to provide an advice to you all. Many institutions have already released their merit list and some are yet to. So if you have not gotten admission yet, hopefully, before the end of the year yours will be out. Therefore, this advice is like a fuel and engine oil needed for you run the race of the higher institution. Pay rapt attention and read with full interest.

Many freshmen have lost their path because of over excitement and as such end very badly at the end of their study period. These few piece of advice is provided free of charge.

1) Focus on your studies: You are the school to study and acquire knowledge. Bearing this in mind, you should pay full and rapt attention to your studies. Your parents will invest heavily into your life within these short period. Therefore, you must ensure that you do not waste their resources. Be careful so that over excitement does not sway you out of your focus. Study well, for it is only in studying that your knowledge will be fully enhanced.

2) Celebration comes at the end, at the beginning: Unfortunately, many of us get it totally wrong by celebrating at the beginning. The road before you is too long to start your celebration now. If actually there is time to celebrate, then it should be at the end of your study year (at graduation). So therefore my amiable freshmen, be very careful so that your premature celebration will not lead to failure at the end.

3) Develop yourself within this short time: In one of my previous articles, I stated few reasons why most Nigerian graduates are unemployablehttps://infoducation.com/why-nigerian-graduates-are-unemployable/. I guess you might have also heard that Nigerian graduates are unemployable. Therefore, pay attention to enhancing your efficiency. Spend time to developing yourself. The duration in the higher institution is 6 years on the maximum. It is what you learn within these years that will determine if you will be employable or not. therefore, spend time and resources to develop yourself.

4) Develop a business idea: It is very interesting to know that we have many student entrepreneurs in our various campuses. One of the best things you can do in the campus is to develop and run your own business. We have compiled list of businesses that can run well in the campus https://infoducation.com/campus-business/. Go through them and see which of them you can venture into. To run a successful business on campus, follow our guide https://infoducation.com/your-campus-business/.

Many student do not need any job at the point of graduate because of the successful business they established while in campus. Work hard to owning your own business and you will be happy you did. Also your dependency on your parents and sponsors will be fully reduced. As freshmen, if there is any convenient time to start up your business, then it is now. If you are IT inclined, then consider blogging as a great opportunity for you https://infoducation.com/why-you-should-own-a-blog-as-a-student/.

5) Never forget God: God above everything. We owe it all to God. Freshmen, do not forget God. If you can forget everything and anything, it must not be God. He saw you through during your primary and secondary school. Also, if He had not provided for you parents, you will definitely not have come this far. Therefore, do not forget God. This is the first tip to becoming successful. Sadly, the campus is full of young guys who con longer see God as anything. Within these few years of your stay in the campus, ensure that you do not run away from God. He will keep you.

6) Mind your association: Dear freshmen, friends will make or mar you. Many freshmen want to belong, so as to gain recognition. As such, many things are lost along the line. If you must make it to the end of the journey, then be careful of the people you keep as friends. Some can help build you up, while others can destroy you beyond recovery. Make friends with those that will help shape your life for the better. You will find every kind of person on the campus, therefore, be careful with your association.

7) Shun cultism: Cultists are the most miserable people on campus. They may appear as big boy and girls, yet they are always unsecured. Once they hear the siren of the police, they get on their heel. Freshmen, you might be pressurized to join them, but do ensure that you do not accept their invitation for your own good. You might see them spending money anyhow, do not be envious of them because most times, those are stolen money.

Most times, these cults have an entrance but no exit. You can enter, but you never come out. Sadly, in many campuses at the point of graduation, those cultists are shot dead. Therefore, there is nothing admirable about the lifestyle of those cultists.

cool Plan to make dad and mum happy: The end of your studies should be that you take home a good certificate to your parents within the given study duration. Many people freshmen, after celebrating at the beginning, end up having many carryovers and in turn leads to extra years in the campus. Mind you, we have few articles on what to learn from carryovers, causes of carryovers and how to cope with carryovers. Therefore, be careful not to spend more time than supposed in the campus.

Do not just plan to graduate at the end, but plan to make your parents happy. Go back home with a nice result and by so doing, they will appreciate you full. If you want to have a good CGPA at the end of your study, then your time to work hard starts now.

9) Apply for scholarships: If the financial strength of your sponsor is not so strong, then scholarship will be the best option for you. Apply for as many scholarships as possible. There are many good things about scholarships but the one point I want to present here is that it will help you avoid unnecessary distractions on how to raise money.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion therefore, dear freshmen, let me state that there is no big deal in been an undergraduate. Many of the bike men, street trader and taxi drivers are all graduates. Therefore, you have no reason to think that you are the most important person in the world. Humble yourself and study with keen attention so as to help yourself at the end. Many people gained admission but never graduated.

Therefore, gaining admission is a privilege and not your right.
All of us at infoducation, happily celebrate with all freshmen on their newly gained admission and we wish you all the best in your study years. GOODLUCK!!!

Education / An Advice To Fresh Graduate by chikachuks1(m): 2:44am On Sep 07, 2018
In the heat of the celebration, many fresh graduate are everywhere celebrating the fact that they just wrote their last paper. We at infoducation strongly congratulate you for that. Indeed, it has not been easy. Many people dropped out of school. Some others died and others suffered many misfortunes. So writing your final paper is UNCOMMON and we must celebrate with you.

In line with our goal at infoducation, we want to provide this little advice to every fresh graduate, perhaps it might be beneficial and fruitful to some. Let me state these few points clearly. Do not misinterpret them, but let them shape your mind set for the better.

1) You are not the first graduate and you will not be the last: Bear it in mind that you are not the first person to graduate and you will surely not be the last. If this mindset is in you, your celebration will be in moderation. You see some guys going to the beer parlour, hotels and other places to celebrate. They do this, thinking that they are the first or last graduate. Have this always at the back of your mind as a fresh graduate that you are and it will help you big time.

2) Many graduates end up unemployed: I have earlier published an article on why Nigerian graduates are unemployable. Read it and see if you fall within the unemployable ones. I doubt if there is anything worth celebrating, if at the end you remain unemployed. The school system will graduate you into the labour market and it is at that time your labour starts. Therefore, when you write your final paper, do not be over joyed.

3) Many people come back for extra year after all the celebration: We have seen lots of people who go back for extra semester or extra year at the point of graduation. Probably, somebody reading this article might be in that category. Therefore, do not celebrate because others are celebrating. Returning back to come and study after all the water pouring and writing on the white shirts does not make any sense. Mind the way you about with your celebration.

4) At the point of graduation, your confusion starts: Happy end of university, happy beginning of your confusion. You find out that at the point of graduation, many fresh graduates becomes as confused as they have never been before. Many of them do not know what next to do and where next to go to. Therefore, look beyond the point of graduation and see what the future holds for you.

5) Life does not end here, you just concluded a stage: Dear fresh graduate, life does not end after your last paper. Life is like a book that has many chapters. At this point of graduation, you have not concluded the entire book. You just finished another chapter. So be careful of your celebrations.

Having stated these few points above, let me proceed to present the few advice I have to all fresh graduates across all the higher institutions.

1) Learn to do little thing: I might not spend much time on explaining the concept of learning to do little things because I have written a more detailed article on it. To read the article, the link https://infoducation.com/an-advice-for-every-student-learn-to-do-little-things/.

2) Develop yourself: At the point of graduation, you must develop yourself in order to remain relevant. Most institutions will only leave with you with theoretical knowledge. Theories will never make you relevant in anything. Therefore spend the first few months after graduation to develop yourself. Learn practical skills. There might be no good jobs at the end, yet money must be made. Perhaps there is no job after graduation, you will not fold your hands and sit at home. Therefore, you need an alternative.

3) Work towards becoming independent: In my own discretion, I assume that graduating from the university also means graduating from the lifestyle of dependency. As a fresh graduate, you are a full fledged man and woman. Therefore, work hard to be independent. You will not continue to be a liability for life.

4) Work while waiting for NYSC and also work during NYSC: Work while waiting. Learn while waiting. No matter how short the period might be, do not waste it. Much things can be learnt in a short period of time.

Conclusion
As a way of concluding this little piece, let me once again congratulate every fresh graduate. I have not written this article to discourage you. Rather, I intend to help rebrand your mindset. There is much ground to be gained if you can work hard. Life does not end at this stage, therefore keep on pushing on.

Education / Lessons To Learn From Carryover by chikachuks1(m): 12:34am On Sep 03, 2018
As the popular saying goes “every disappointment is a blessing”, but I want to state that in every disappointment, there is a lesson to be learnt. Most times, fortunate things come out of unfortunate occurrences. Infoducation has compiled two powerful articles on carryover. We have tried to explain to students that most times, carryovers do not mean that they are not intelligent. We have also stated some important remedies on carryovers to encourage students stand up after a great fall.

Therefore, in this article, the focus is to point out some important lessons that you can learn from carryover. To start with, have you ever had any carryover? Do you have any friend who have had one or more carryovers? How was your reaction when you saw your result? Did you feel happy rewriting that course later? There are important lessons to learn from carryover and so, read them below.

Humility: In the university, I doubt if there is anything more humiliating than having a carryover. When you associate with your fellow level mates, you feel happy. You feel like a big boy. But how do you feel associating with those who are supposed to be your juniors. It is true that there is nothing like seniority in the higher institution, yet you must learn humility through carryover. Imagine attending lectures in the same hall with your junior. Some of them might be more intelligent than you and as such, you need to condescend low for them to tutor you. Imagine sitting in the same examination hall with them.
https://infoducation.com/lessons-to-learn-from-carryover/
If you have carry over in your university and you never learnt humility, then you are to be pitied. You must fully understand that higher institution is not by age, so therefore, you must put your age aside, else you will have serious problem. If you fully undergo the stress in having a carryover, then you must learn humility. This humility will help you on the long run. You will be able to freely associate with people who are seemingly lower than you in status, age and all round. Courtesy of what you learnt from your carryover.

Do not celebrate yet: Another lesson you can learn from carryover is that you should not celebrate yet. Unfortunately, many people celebrate after doing something, without even seeing the result. Celebration should come when you have seen the result and not when you have done something. Imagine writing an examination and terming it the simplest exam you have written, just for the result to come out and you see that you had a carryover. Generally, this is not a problem that face only students.

You see someone who made an investment and begins to celebrate that few years from when he made the investment, he will earn so and so profit. He celebrates, forgetting that the only thing constant in life is change. What if the economy crumbles before the set time to reap the profit? What if he gets duped along the line? What do you think will become of him. In like manner, carryover will teach you never to be so confident in anything until you have seen the result. Do not be confident in the unknown.

Hardwork: The third lesson you can learn from carryover is that you ought to work hard. If actually you failed, it then means that you never worked as hard as you were supposed to. If you think you worked hard and you still failed, you will work harder. Failure simply provide fresh opportunity to work harder. Either by putting in more effort or by trying another strategy. It calls for thorough reading, both day and night. We have provided a guideline on how to comfortably read at night just to ensure that you become a reading student.

It will teach you not to give up in future: If you had a carryover and you never dropped out of school, it means you are not to give up at the sight of failure. This point will help you in the future as you try to venture into several businesses. You will fail in many. Sadly, you might fail in all, but that is not a reason to give up. If you have interacted with people, you will hear many of them saying that they have tried a lot of things and nothing worked out for them. Their problem is not that nothing worked out for them. Their major problem is that they lacked consistency. Once failure came, they ran away. Success can never come by running away from failure. Success only comes by facing you failures.

It will teach you not to have carryover again: Carryover is not a game of fun. Another important lesson to learn from carryover is not to have carryover again. For example, there are some carryovers that once you want to rewrite them, you will have to drop one or two other courses to be able to accommodate them. So also is it in life. There are certain things that must be achieved at a given time in life and we must not fail to achieve them. Failure to achieve them now might result in we not achieving them again. Or we might achieve them, but with a hell load of inconveniences. So we ought to work hard. Work so hard and make sure that not other carryover is accumulated by you.

CONCLUSION
Let me state that a failure is not someone who failed in something. A failure is either someone who has decided to fail, or someone you refused to try immediately after they failed. If you do your survey thoroughly, you will find out that more than 50% of every student has had at least one carryover. This means that carryovers are kind of inevitable in the higher institution. Therefore, make sure you read my article on how to cope with carryovers and ensure that you fully learn these few lessons from the carry over you had. All of us at Infoducation are seriously waiting to see you at the top. Make sure you do not keep us waiting in vane.

Education / How To Overcome Difficult Lecturers by chikachuks1(m): 9:54pm On Aug 27, 2018
Many lecturers unnecessarily seem to be difficult, tough and impossible. Sometimes, you are forced to wonder how the wife and children of such lecturers cope with them. In the next few lines, I want to show you some simple steps on how to overcome these difficult lecturers. Mathematics has taught that every problem has a solution. Many students’ efforts are constantly been frustrated as a result of these kind of lecturers.

I have outlined some simple but real steps on how to overcome complex and difficult lecturers. If you apply these tips, very soon all your lecturers will start smiling with you and your result will also be smiling. Severally, I have met students who complain about a particular lecturer. In fact, in some cases, once they hear that the result for the previous semester is out, all they are interested in is to know their grade in that lecturers’ course. There are some lecturers who are really difficult, but there are some who are not. It is just that some of them pretend to be difficult lecturers, but if you go close to them, they are not. These are the few point for your consumption.

Attend all lecture and seat in the front: The very first step to overcome difficult lecturers is to always attend their classes. Not just attending their classes but sitting at the front seat. The reason is because the more they see your face, the more they know you better. There are some lecturers who are naturally gifted to the point that whenever they see your face, they will recognize you any other place. If you have a problem in a course and you approach the lecturer for help, the first thing he will do is to confirm if you are his student. Thus if you are always at the front seat, it will be an added advantage because your face will no longer be strange to him. Even if your lecturers do not know your name, ensure that they know your face. Always seeing you in classes will convince him that you are a serious student. Thus if you have any issue, it will not be hard for him to help you out.

Perform well in their courses: If you must overcome difficult lecturers, you must always perform well in their courses. Truth be told, there is a kind of grade you score in a particular course that the reverse will become the case. The lecturer will come looking for you himself. And as such the both of you become friends. Observe carefully that in most cases, it the average and dull students that have issues with lecturers. You will hardly see a first class or second class upper student having issues with lecturers. If you must break the code of your difficult lecturers, then you must ensure that you perform very well in their courses. By so doing, you will be on the advantaged side.

Ask questions: As much as been present for lecturers is important, ensure you ask questions frequently. This is the fastest strategy to make your lecturers know you. But then, you must ensure that you do not ask silly questions like many students do. It irritates many lecturers. Ask meaningful questions and by so doing, those difficult lecturers who have problem with smiling will begin to smile with you. From smiling, the relationship will graduate to laughing. Lecturers love when students ask them questions. This will prove to them that you are really understanding what they are teaching you.

Visit them in their offices: To overcome difficult lecturers, visit them in their offices once in a while. Remember that if you have issues with your lecturer, you are the one to suffer it. Your lecturer has graduated many years ago and you are still in school. Try as much as possible to visit them. If for nothing, to briefly gist with them, ask them questions or even run few errands for them. If you can do this one very well, you will never score less than a B in the lecturers’ course. Make friends with your lecturers. One of the secret of been a successful student is to love all your lecturers and courses.

Send them complimentary messages: Learn to send complimentary text messages to those seemingly difficult lecturers. If they have birthday, send them nice messages and if possible, publish their birthday on your Facebook timeline and tag them. These are little things that helps a big deal.

Pray: If you have tried all these and fail, then do not neglect to use the weapon of prayer. The Holy Bible says, “The heart of king is in the hands of God”. If you have tried all these above stated steps and the lecturer still prove impossible, then use the altar of prayer. In fact, if you use the altar of prayer very well, then the lecture will be the one obeying you. Send you the case to the court of heaven where he will be judged and given instructions concerning you. You can overcome that seemingly difficult lecturer.

In conclusion, no matter how hard beans might be, when you heat it with time, it will become soft. In like manner, you can win the heart of those difficult lecturers.

Religion / Commentary On “forever Young” By Jay Z by chikachuks1(m): 3:19pm On Aug 16, 2018
This article is written as a comment to the popular song sang by the popular American Rapper – Jay Z, titled “forever young”. Many people have good desires but wrong pursuit. Good intentions but wrong approach. This post is not written with the intention of condemning anyone. Rather, I want to use this medium to provide advice to the singer and many others.

The irony of this nice lyric is that the singer is not a converted and dedicated follower of Jesus. Many young people like the singer want to live forever young but do not know what it takes to live forever young. Of all the lines, the once I love most and will most probably comment on are the once below;

Leave a mark that can’t erase neither space nor time: We must leave a mark in the world so as to live forever young. To live forever young means never to be forgotten in time and eternity. The Bible says, “The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance” (Psalm.112:6). Therefore, righteousness is the key to leaving a mark that is in-erasable.

Fear not much while were alive: We must not fear while we are alive because “to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians.1:21). Whether we live or die, let us do it in the Lord.

See ya somewhere up in the sky: This line simply means see you in heaven. Everyone want to get to heaven when life is over, but unfortunately, the pathway, they do not follow. If we must meet in heaven, if we must have our eternal abode in the skies, then we must live our lives on earth in holiness. “Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father” (Matthew.13:43).

Fear not die, I’ll be alive for a million years, bye bye: There is not fear in death for those who live and die in Jesus. This is because death opens the gate to heaven for the prepared. In heaven, we never get old and we never die there.

My name shall survive: To those that overcome, God shall give them a name that lasts forever. If your name must last forever, the nature of Jesus must last forever in your life. “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels” (Revelation.3:5).

These few lines thrills me that I cannot and will never look away from them. I call on every heaven minded person to go through these lines meditatively. Do you want to live forever young? Do you want to have a name that cannot be erased with time? Then I have an answer to that question

Acts.4:12 says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”. If we must live forever young, the first point is salvation. But then, may i inform every of my readers that salvation is impossible without the name of Jesus.

Therefore, if you must live forever young. If you must be in everlasting remembrance, then you must give your life to Jesus. Jesus is the only one who gives salvation. I pray you think and act on this and may God help you.

Subject: Job Application: Claims Adjuster, reference A47kj2w1.

Dear Employer,

I am very interested in applying for the Logistics Manager position you advertised on infoducation on the 15th of January 2030. My qualifications and experience match your specifications almost exactly.

Please take a moment to review my attached Application Documents:

– Up-To-Date Resume

– Customized Cover Letter

It would be a sincere pleasure to hear back from you soon to discuss this exciting opportunity.

Sincerely,

[your first and last names, plus the phone number(s) you want to be contacted at, go here]

What is wrong with Sample A?

Well I will say you’ve done well for at least giving the mail a body.
What I think is wrong with sample A is a degree of formality and detail. The message is written in casual language which should be avoided when writing a formal email. And it makes the reader guess about which job you’re applying for. The language and content need to be professionalized or better still make it more formal. I must confess this was my pattern.

You are, after all, attaching your resume. Possibly a cover letter too. This should give the reader a much better idea of who you are.

Every impression counts. Your emailed message may be the very first thing a potential employer sees from you.

How is Sample B better?

The language used in Sample B is professionalized and formal too.

Well if that’s your method of writing I will say nice job to you and CONGRATULATION because I know you will win very soon.

Little Tip I saw on Monster.ca

Formal language, identifying the job you’re applying for, and stating which documents you’ve attached: is there anything you should do in the body of your emailed job application?

Some job seekers like to include a customized, more elaborate cover letter within the body of the email itself. This saves the reader from having to open your separate attachments into a different program.
https://infoducation.com/how-to-send-a-formal-email-for-a-job/
Still, it may make sense to attach a fully formatted, fancy version of the cover letter along with the resume. This way if the employer wants printouts of “good copies” to pass around, they can do so quickly with minimal effort.

You could also try to find out the name and title of the person you’ll be mailing your application to. This is not always necessary, though in higher level jobs it can help you stand out from the crowd. Which of course is something you want to do, when possible, so long as standing out presents you as more qualified or enthusiastic.

In the world of work, quite often “you are what you write.” This is nowhere more true than when submitting your resume and/or cover letter for consideration.
When “Casual” Causes Concerns

Luckily it doesn’t take much to submit a better version of your message

Give Specifics

You’re applying for a specific job. To you it may the one that’s front and center in your mind at this time. But the employer may be posting a number of different positions at once. They’ll probably receive a large number of application emails, not just yours.

So make is easy for them to sort the incoming emails by letting them know which job you’re after. In the Subject Line itself, concisely state the purpose of your email. Mention the job’s title or a reference number that you saw in the advertised posting. You could write something like “Job Application Enclosed: Claims Adjuster, reference A47kj2w1.”

This also applies to the top part of the message you’ll type into the body of this email. You can begin with a header that simply repeats itself, as in “re: Job Application: Claims Adjuster, reference A47kj2w1.”

Use “Business Formal” Language

Email message for job inquiry

Education / Why Nigerian Graduates Are Unemployable by chikachuks1(m): 5:16am On Aug 08, 2018
Severally, we have heard people say that Nigerian graduates are unemployable. It’s a very hard and difficult fact to believe. Have do we believe that after spending several years on education, we are then made to know that Nigerian graduates are unemployable? In most of the articles we have published on www.infoducation.com.ng, I keep reminding our readers that we will stop at nothing in our bid to make students successful. Thus, this article will be helpful in a bid to control some menace in our education system. These menace affects graduates later in life as they proceed in their chosen career. Thorough study has been made on this subject we have been able to come up with these major reasons why Nigerian graduates are unemployable.

1) Certificate without skills: The very first reason why Nigerian graduates are unemployable is because majority possess certificate without skill. Unfortunately, things are no longer the way they used to be. Previously, companies employ graduates because the total number of available graduates were limited. But now that almost everybody is now a graduate, the standard has increased. Everybody now has a certificate. Therefore, attention has shifted from your certificate to your sabificate. The question is no longer what you have on the paper you carry everywhere, but rather, what do you know (wetin you sabi)?

2) The incidence of examination malpractice: This is the second reason why Nigerian graduates are unemployable. Examination malpractice has so eaten the Nigerian education sector to the point that graduates only have their certificate and nothing more. They possess the certificate but unfortunately, they are not able to defend it. If we are to employ people who are unskilled with the hope that though they are unskilled, they should be knowledgeable, we will end up in disappointment. Examination malpractice gives students fake results. Students will go about with the result that is not theirs. Recently, I heard of a particular organization that said they cannot employ graduates from a particular institution. They arrived at this decision because it was observed that examination malpractice has eaten the school like a canker worm.

3) Many undergraduates spend their time studying courses they are not interested in: This is another reason why Nigerian graduates are unemployable. Unfortunately, many people go to higher institutions because their friends and mates are into it. Thus they accept admission into any department they are given admission. We see that in this case, the student involved will not pay attention to studies because that’s not what he wants. One of my cousins told me that he will still go back to school to study his dream course after spending about four years reading political science. Therefore, I recommend that if you must go to the higher institution, know what you want and pursue it.

4) Undergraduates are not taught how to write a résumé or successfully approach interviews: The problem might not be that these undergraduates know nothing at all to be employed. The problem might be their inability to prepare good and actionable curriculum vitae or resume. As a result of this, people now take CV writing as a job and receive payments. Meanwhile, this ought not to be so if those undergraduates were taught CV writing. Also, they are not prepared to approach interviews, therefore they perform woefully in these two aspect. With these, they surely will never be employed. Worse of all is that some cannot write application letter.

5) Many undergraduates study course with low demand, yet many applicants: This is another stunning point I will not fail to mention. We see in our time that many people are after accounting, electrical and mechanical engineering, banking and finance, public administration etc. We know too well that the number of people studying these courses are too numerous and as such all of them can never be employed. Yet, there are courses that when your study very well the job comes looking for you. These courses includes but not limited to medicine, cyber security, software engineering etc. With this, I recommend that you read my article titled, “things to consider before choosing a career”.

6) Outdated educational system: Truth be spoken, the current educational system obtainable in Nigeria is outdated. For example, in my 300 level, we did a course on software engineering. We were taught various operating systems and their features. Unfortunately, the operating systems we considered as example were; windows vista, windows 2000, windows xp, ME, and NT. Nothing was said about windows 10, 8, 8.1 and 7. Someone complained and the course lecturer said that was our course outline. Students are been stuffed with outdated knowledge, neglecting the most recent ones. With this, we see that most of the reasons why Nigerian graduates are unemployable could be traced to the school system.

cool Unrealistic demands: I have followed nairaland job notifications. One thing I discovered most times was that the requirements for such jobs are unrealistic. For example, you see a job opening in which one of the qualification is that you must have about 10 years or more working experience. Of course, this requirement cannot be met by fresh graduates.

9) Discriminatory requirements: Apart from setting unrealistic requirements, employers are discriminatory in their requirements. Think of a vacancy that the requirement is a minimum of second class upper division. Some even go as far and bad as putting their requirements having a first class honour. What happens to those with second class lower or even third class? These people all paid the same school fees. Unfortunately, knowledge and ability is no longer by what you graduated with. Most second class lower graduates will better defend their results than the second class upper graduates. So we see that this is another reason why Nigerian graduates are unemployable.

10) There are no jobs: Let me not spend the whole time pointing out these reasons without stating that there are no jobs in Nigeria. Majority of the available jobs are likened to a married woman still seeking for another husband. Well paid jobs are very few and are not available for the poor masses. You only get them if you know somebody who knows somebody that knows somebody. So how will a graduate get a job that does not exist?

Science/Technology / A Better Understanding Of The Use Of Social Media by chikachuks1(m): 6:34am On Aug 05, 2018
I chose to write on this important topic because of its need and relevance. I think a better understanding should be thrown on the concept and use of social media. Social media is an online platform that enhances interactions between people. According to wikipedia, Social media are computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks
Some popular social media platforms are Facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, instagram, whatsapp, skype, snapchat, pinterest, Google+ etc. If a proper research is carried out, it will be discovered the highest user of social media are the youth.

As popularly known, everything that has a good side also has a bad side and social media is one of those things. I will not be so wrong to say that the negative side of social media outweighs the positive. Hence its misuse. But then, we must bear in mind that these platforms were created to solve certain problem. So the misuse of these platforms is not directly caused by those who built the system, but rather by the end users, for whom the system was built.
https://infoducation.com/a-better-understanding-of-the-use-of-social-media/
Advantages of social media
Social media has lots of advantages which must not be neglected. These advantages include;

1) Bridge communication gap: Social media is a great tool that must be deployed to bridge communication has. Indeed, it has successfully bridged such a gap. Social media fall under the Information Technology cum telecommunication industry. By telecommunication, we mean communicating in a far distance. Taking a close look at each of these social media platforms, you will agree that each of us has one or more friends whom we are geographically separated from each other.

Nature creates a geographical divide among us but social media comes in to bridge such a gap. In some cases, we interact with people whom we do not know and we might never know them in the real world. Also, with social media, you can share an information and it will be seen by millions of people (especially for boosted posts). Therefore, this is the very first importance of social media.

2) Enhances interactivity: As much as social media bridges the gap in communication, it is also important to know that it enhances interactivity. We see many groups and pages on these platforms and as such the goal of enhancing interactivity is achieved.

3) News gathering: It is also a platform through which many people gather news of daily happenings. Since the world has moved into the digital, newspapers are now in low demands and with time might become obsolete. Many of the internet users are not aware of websites that provides news. All they know is Facebook, whatsapp, instagram etc. Many other people who are aware of news websites, goes and get news and then comes and shares the news via various online platforms. Therefore, those who knows about social media platforms and nothing more will have the privilege of also staying updated as a result of the information share by a friend.

4) Communication at a low cost: Online platforms also enhances communication at a low cost. The only thing we do is to subscribe frequently to have internet access. Consider all the communication you make via online platforms. If they were to be made as calls, check out how much it will cost you. Then you will agree with me that social media saves you more than 10 times of the money you use for calls.

5) Means of learning: Also, social media is a great medium for learning. If you have fully engaged the social media, you will agree that there are lots of things that you have learnt via some of these platforms which you might not have learnt from anywhere, not even in the classroom.

For example, we see some boosted posts on our Facebook timeline title “thing to consider before choosing a project topic”. If you click on the ink, it takes you the website where such content was published. After reading the content, you find it so helpful. You might not have heard about the website that published that content before and you might not remember to memorize that name. Still you might not even know the person who composed the content but you have benefited from it. So you see how Facebook has helped in learning.

6) Means of socializing: As the name implies, it is a means of socializing. Hangouts are done via some of these platforms. Virtual meetings are held via some of the platforms too. Birthdays, wedding anniversaries etc are done via some of these platforms. Therefore, social media is a means of socializing. Most times, we make more friends on the on social platforms than we make in the real world. We see people who are introverts having thousands of friends on their various social platforms, yet in the real world, they might not have up to two hundred friends.

7) Job creation/awareness: LinkedIn is very good for this purpose. Companies use their various social media pages to advertise vacancies in the organizations. These platforms has created tons of jobs and has also published various job openings.

cool Business promotion: Businesses are also promoted via these platforms. For example, I have gotten more traffics to my two websites (christianityupdate and infoducation) by promoting my contents on social media than through search engines and direct links.

Education / Before You Start Your Project, Read This by chikachuks1(m): 2:32am On Jul 31, 2018
It is very painful to know that many years after your graduation from the higher institution, your project works are been burnt with fire. This is because of the space they occupy and with the latest trend in innovation, some projects seems to be outdated in current time. So then, it will not be meaningful to keep storing these irrelevant project works in the store.

Think of it, if a department had 50 students 10 years ago, and then every year they admit and graduate students. If currently, they have about 150 students in the department, then think of how many people that would have been graduated from this department within these 10 years. So then, how do you think that the store where these project works are packed will look like?

Come to think of it, these projects cost thousands of naira. I heard a case whereby a particular project work costs about two hundred thousand naira. Then after the much expenses, these projects are burnt and abandoned. It is not just the issue of the high cost of executing the project, but then think of the stress you will undergo. Checking on your supervisor frequently and most times, he will not be in the office. Sometimes, they will demand that you come over to their house in whatever place they stay. Think about the continuous printing, correction and reprinting.

Most times, after all these stress and expenses, your grade might still not be nice. Think about the insults from some of the supervisors who lack good human relation.

But then, let me remind you if you know and then, if you do not know, let me inform you that Google was a project work carried out by Larry Page while in the university. It then means that there is a big problem with Nigerian education system. Well it is well known that the Nigerian education system is faulty. But then, we must play our own individual roles in a bid to ensure that our projects do not end up as trash. You project can also be the next Google.
https://infoducation.com/before-you-start-your-project-read-this/
Therefore, I have only one recommendation for your project work. But before I proceed to my recommendation, read my article on how to write your project without stress
.
Write Your Project With The Future in Mind.
This is the complete intention of this article. While you are choosing your project topic, I strongly recommend that you consider the future first. Larry Page considered the future before starting his project and that is why Google never died in the four walls of Stanford University.

Think about the money you will spend while doing your project. If you do your calculation well, you will agree with me that the money you spend on your project will start a mini business for you. Also, consider the stress you will face during the period of writing your project. If you do your calculation well, you will agree with me that if you put in such effort into a business, you will build a successful brand someday.

Then why don’t you consider starting your future business as your university project?

My suggestion is that you should not just do a project for the sake of doing a project. Money is difficult to get, therefore, it will be fully unwise to waste it into some kind of things. While you want to do your project, first think of your future aspirations.

Do you intend to work for someone or do you intend to be an entrepreneur. If you intend to work for someone, then this article is not for you. Just recommend it to a friend and perhaps, it might be meaningful to them. But if you intend to be self-employed, then this article is fully for you. Start that your future business today. Although, it is dependent on if your future business is in line with your course.

Your project should not be something you spend money, time and stress on and then abandon it for something else in the future. Once again, the resources you invest into your project is enough to build a strong brand with time. Be creative and innovative in your thinking. The success of top brands is that they start small and grow big. Therefore, if you start your business as a project, then you must be able to start small. Even the Bible exhorts us not to despise the days of little beginning.

Conclusion
This is the little recommendation I have for undergraduates. Many people graduate from the higher institution and begin to look for job up and down. Yet, they have prospective multi million naira business plan buried as a project work. Therefore, think deeply before fully deciding on what project to undertake.
THANKS and see you at the top, but before you go, check here for you project topics.

Education / Why You Should Own A Blog As A Student by chikachuks1(m): 3:10am On Jul 29, 2018
In the 21st century, blogging has become one of the field where your efforts could be lucratively channeled. Every young person stands a chance to own a blog. In a bid to encourage young people to become industrious, there are various things to do with your time. Unfortunately, many people sees entrepreneurship as a game only the advanced in age can venture into. You will agree with me that the youths are the highest users of the internet. As such, such time could be channeled into some meaningful efforts. I have carefully prepared this article in order to encourage every student to own a blog. If you have read my article titled, “Businesses you can do in the campus” https://infoducation.com/campus-business/, blogging was stated there. Though, I must clearly state that to own a blog is not compulsory for every student. This article serves as an encouragement to boost you interest in the blogosphere. After reading this article, your perspective on owning a blog should change. If you have been considering blogging before, this article will make you more interested in it. But if not, this article will arouse your interest. Let us proceed straight to the point.

It is cheap to start: The very first reason why every student should own a blog is because blogging is very cheap to start. If you already have your devices like, laptop and smartphone, the capital will be drastically reduced. To start a blog, get a domain name of your choice. Though I must let you know that almost every smart domain name has been taken. If you need help on getting a nice domain name, chat me up on whatsapp via 07064635053. The price for domain names varies from company to company. But at most, with ₦5,000 you will get a .com domain name for a year and with at most ₦3,000 you will get a .ng domain name for a year. In my opinion, if you can purchase more than a year at once, the better for you. After you have gotten a domain name, you proceed to get a hosting plan. There are different hosting plans provided by hosting companies and their rate differs. Here are some of the hosting companies you can check up; Globalhosting247, whogohost, Hostgator, ehost, bluehost etc. But then, as a newbie, the hosting will not cost more than ₦25,000 per year. The next thing is to get a designer. Most times, wordpress provides the best platforms for bloggers. A good designer can design a blog for you for as low as ₦15,000. Better still, you can check out some YouTube tutorials and design it yourself. At most to own a blog will cost you ₦50,000. You discover that compared to some other business, this amount is relatively low. Therefore, this is the first reason why you should own a blog.

You are passionate about something: The second reason why you should own a blog is because you are passionate about something. Even as a student, your passion cannot be 100% channeled to education. There are still some other thing you are passionate about, like, religion, sports, education, jobs, entertainment, fashion, etc. You can convert your passion into a blog to help you develop more on it and also share your passion with a wider community.

Blogging Could Be Seamlessly Combined With Your Studies: If you own a blog, it does not stop you from still been very good in your studies. Blogging can be combined with your studies without creating any lapse. Every human being has the ability to multitask at one time or the other. Therefore, if you own a blog, you can still perform matchlessly in your studies.

Students’ community is very favourable: A study has shown that many businesses done in the student community are successful. This is in almost every campus, you have a community of about ₦20,000 students, compact together in a given geographical location. Therefore, if there is any good place to do business, in my opinion, the campus environment is that place. In like manner, whatever niche of blogging you want to do, you will find students who will really patronize you. If you can grow your blog in the student community, then growing it in the larger community will not be much problematic.

Education / Things To Consider Before Choosing Your Project Topic by chikachuks1(m): 2:09am On Jul 29, 2018
With the education system on ground, every student must write a project before graduation. Polytechnic students write two projects, one at the National Diploma (ND) level and the other at the Higher National Diploma (HND) level. But then, many people have difficulties in choosing a project topic. That is why many students outsource their project work and pay huge amount of money just to get the project done. But then, if you can get a topic you can do, you will do it comfortably do it without stress. There are few points I will list below which will serve as guidelines to help you in choosing the project topic. Think well before you choose whatever topic you want to do as your project. I have provided an advice to young students who want to do their project work. Read the advice and try to adhere to it, it will be of great help to you. Therefore, the underlisted are things you consider before choosing a project topic.

Your knowledge level
: Knowledge they say is power. The first thing you must consider before choosing a project topic is your knowledge level. The primary reason why many students outsource their project work not because they do not have time but because the topic exceeds their knowledge level. If you must comfortably choose a reasonable project work, you must check your knowledge level. You will spend about 2, 3 or 4 years before you start your project work. Use these few years to study heard so as to be fully grounded in at least one field, so that when the time for project comes, you will know what to do. Your project must not be complex as many people think it is. If you think that project is a big deal, the recommendation I will give you is to look for an existing work in your field and improve on it. Truly, project work is very simple. Find out what you can do then go into it. As much as possible, choose a topic for yourself, do not allow your supervisor to choose for you. You are the one to do the project work yourself not your supervisor. Therefore, be guided. If you choose a project topic based on your knowledge level, you will do your project work without stress.

Your financial capacity: Once again, let me state that your project work is not a complex stuff. Though, there are some project that are capital intensive, but yet be careful in choosing your project topic. Before embarking on any project work, check your financial strength and that of your sponsors. As much as possible, try to downsize your budget before choosing your project topic.

Kind of lecturers in your department: Another thing to consider is the kind of lecturers in your department. In some departments, lecturers stands as stumbling blocks to many students. In my own little knowledge, you can apply for a change of project supervisor. The simplest way to do that is by simply approaching the lecturer whom you want to supervise you. If he agrees, good enough. The reason why you must consider the kind of lecturers you have before choosing a project topic is because many lecturers will frustrate your efforts. Knowing fully that your supervisors are human beings and as such are also limited in knowledge. It might be that your supervisor knows nothing about the project work you want to embark upon. How then do you want him to supervise you in what he does not know? Therefore, this is another thing to consider before choosing your project topic.

Availability of materials: Be informed that most of the project work done by students are simple improvement on already existing ones. Therefore check for availability of related and relevant materials before you jump into doing your project work. If your chosen topic does not have much materials, then your project work will seriously limited. So the more the available materials, the easier for you.

Relevance of your project topic: The next thing to check for is the relevance and impart of your project work. Make sure that your project work is not that which will take us to centuries and decades back. Let your project work match with the latest trend in technology. With this, you will not have difficulties in getting a scope for your project work. Also the relevance of you project work will determine if or not your supervisor will show interest in your work.
