Religion / We Should Allow Married Priests - Reverend Father by chikachuks1(m): 11:52pm On Jun 16, 2018
The man who leads the largest Roman Catholic Church in America is advocating that the church allow married men to become priests, and plans to spend his retirement ministering among the poorest of the poor.

Monsignor John McSweeney, 75, who is originally from New York, is concluding 43 years of ministry in Charlotte, North Carolina, The Twhere he has most recently served as priest at St. Matthew in The Reverend father who leads the largest Roman Catholic Church in America is advocating that the church allow married men to become priests, and plans to spend his retirement ministering among the poorest of the poor.

Monsignor John McSweeney, 75, who is originally from New York, is concluding 43 years of ministry in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he has most recently served as priest at St. Matthew in Ballantyne, an affluent suburb of the state’s most populous city.

St. Matthew Catholic Church is the largest Roman Catholic church (parish) in the United States which boasts of over 10,000 families, according to The Charlotte Observer Sunday.

Much like Pope Francis, McSweeney said he desires a church that is more oriented toward hospitality and less about judgment. Charlotte, which reportedly has a burgeoning population of Roman Catholics, faces a shortage of priests in their diocese. And to address this, McSweeney said he favors the Church allowing priests to be married, mentioning that he has been around many Protestant pastors who are married and “doing great work.”

“And many men I was in the (Catholic) seminary with would be great priests today except for one thing,” McSweeney said. That one thing is their desire to be married.

For the first 1,000 years of Catholicism, celibacy for priests was optional. In March, Pope Francis expressed openness to the idea.

“In our history, we would have men in training in different seminaries so we’d get a broader aspect of the church,” he said.

“And I think that’s what should be done now. Not just one place.”

In the fall of 2009, Pope Benedict invited disenchanted Anglicans to come into the Roman Catholic Church, and allowed for married Anglican priests who converted to remain in the clergy.

McSweeney is “very concerned,” about a resurgence of younger priests who are very conservative who dislike the Vatican II reforms in the Catholic Church.

Also called the Second Vatican Council, this council occurred in the 1960s where the Roman Church adopted notable changes in the way ministry is conducted. Vatican II invited lay people to minister more actively in the liturgy, and masses were increasingly celebrated in native languages of people, not just Latin.

Yet lay ministers who are women, are not being allowed, for instance, to help serve Communion. Altar boys are permitted, but not altar girls.

These young conservative priests, McSweeney explained, “are trying to reform the reform … I don’t endorse what they’re doing to God’s people.”

“I’ve had the privilege of being in many different roles in ministry … But I think I need now to experience [poverty],” McSweeney said, who intends to spend the years of his retirement in a place like Haiti or Jamaica, ministering among some of the most destitute people on earth.

“I’m going to try to walk in the sandals of the Lord,” McSweeney said.

“I have a little motto: ‘You never say no to Jesus.’ And he keeps talking to me.”

Career / The Google Impact Challenge For Nigerians by chikachuks1(m): 3:16am On Jun 11, 2018
Google in her effort to Empower Nigerians to drive community impact starts up Google Impact Challenge for Nigerians. The Google Impact Challenge Nigeria supports nonprofits and social enterprises with game-changing ideas to create economic opportunity in their communities.

Organizations apply with their most innovative proposals. Finalists get access to Google.org funding, mentorship and resources. Eligible nonprofits and social enterprises are invited to apply by July 4.

About the Challenge

Your community. Your ideas to make it better. For the first time, the Google Impact Challenge is coming to Nigeria! The Challenge asks local innovators how they would make their community and beyond an even better place. The public and a panel of local Judges vote for the ideas with the most potential, and Google.org pairs each winner with a package of strategic support, funding and Google volunteers.

How it Works

1) Organizations Apply: Eligible nonprofits and social enterprises submit their proposals to create economic opportunity in Nigeria.

2) Finalists Selected: Google and our partners will review applications and select 12 finalists.

3) Public Votes: From the 12 finalists, the public will have three weeks to vote for their favorite idea.

4) Final Event and Winners Announced: All 12 finalists are invited to pitch their ideas to our panel of Judges at a final event. The Judges will select three Challenge winners from these finalists, and also announce the people’s choice winner.

5) Training and Support: Each of the four winners will receive a $250,000 grant and training from Google. The remaining 8 finalists will receive a $125,000 grant.

Criteria for Application

1) Community Impact: Does the proposed project create economic opportunity in Nigeria? Does it improve the lives of people in our country?

2) Innovation: Does the project present unexpected solutions to unmet needs?

3) Reach: Does it have the potential to scale directly or to serve as a model for other communities? Will its scope grow over time?

4) Feasibility: Is the project plan (or business plan) well thought-out, and the team well-equipped to execute on it?

True true, Nigeria is a shithole country
Religion / Our Pastor Is Human Too by chikachuks1(m): 4:35am On Jun 07, 2018
The pastor stood up to teach in our midweek service. The first thing he asked the church to do was to go ask someone “How was your day?”.

Everyone went around asking, shaking and patting each others back. Some even hugged themselves!

I smiled as I saw it all. Guess what, no one came to the pastor to ask that simple question ‘How was your day?’.
Yet! he was tired and it had been a really hard day for him.
Pastors and Medical doctors may have something in common – people believe they are fine as long as they are breathing!.

YOU are quick to ask your pastor
“Are you praying for me?” But have you ever told him “I am praying for you”?.

You know how to accuse the pastor of not visiting you but have you ever stopped by to check on him and his family?

You tell the pastor that you are going on vacation but have you ever wondered when was the last time he had a break?

He smiles at you telling you “It is well with you” when at times, it is a prophecy for himself.

A pastor can officiate a wedding just after consoling a bereaved family (Can you imagine that emotional switch – yet he must be stable).

Your pastor is human too! Trust me, there are days he did not feel like coming to church but he still did! Some of the lovely suit covers the pains.

I have seen pastors quit because of depression (true!). Everyone knows how to fault a Pastor but not many know he has pains of his own

Everyone know how to judge a Pastors action but not everyone want him to discipline them even if its part of his job!.
Sometimes pastors put a smile on their faces and with strong courage, preach powerful sermons, pray for the needy then the entire congregation disperse leaving the pastor alone or probably with his wife yet he is undergoing through hell. He lacks someone he can share his woes but all run away.

Do you surely enquire how his week was and what is troubling him, his family and ministry. Don’t desire to provide for the ministry and omit the minister.

When you shop, remember your pastor. When you pray remember him. When you go for holiday, remember him and when visiting, do not forget to call at his house and God will take the grace upon his servant pastor and give it unto you.

You can put a smile on your pastor!!
Appreciate your Him.
Buy gifts for him and his family too.
Send words and messages of love and encouragement to him.

SERIOUSLY, when last did you call your Pastor just to wish him well and ask how he is?
Distance is not a barrier!!!!!.

Don’t be tempted to fight him or fight what he’s doing you could be fighting against God Himself.

Support him and pray for him and warn those who Opposes your pastor.

Remember, he has the onerous job of watching over your spiritual well being.
The happier and more stable he is, the better he will discharge his duties! Help your them to succeed!

I have simply told you what some Pastors may never say!. Trust me! You can start by sharing this with others!

Religion / “FOR MY SAKE” By Opeyemi Akintunde by chikachuks1(m): 4:05am On Jun 07, 2018
It was my wedding night, I was so tired, I needed a bath and rest. We had danced so much my back was aching. Husband was beginning to have funny ideas. He was beaming like a new born baby. Well I won’t blame him, any man in his position would not joke with this night. Because, I was a warrior during our courtship ” No… No hugging, No pecking, No holding”. Sexual purity till my marriage was top on my list. This is something I can't stop doing .

The Knock came, I was thinking, half past 11pm, is that room service? I thought, then with eyes popping, I heard my mother in law’s iron like voice, ” Tise, Micheal open up” Micheal jumped up and rushed to the door, opened up for his mum. Mum in law walked in, sat down majestically and asked us to sit.

“Tise, I don’t know if anyone told you, there is a curse on my husband’s family line. The men in their family don’t prosper, the wives are the ones who work, and provide for the family. This is because, according to history, one of their forefathers killed the only son of a great herbalist. The herbalist then placed a curse on every son in that lineage that their hands will never produce forth good, also they must always lose a son amongst their children”. I watched in amazement as my mum in law kept talking history. She then concluded by saying ” In Essense, I just came to let you know that your marriage is not a land of Fun, but war”.

Why? Why didn’t she tell me this before now.?

Well, not to waste her time I also gave her my history.

“Mum, I am sorry, I also did not tell you this. I come from a family that fights for those we love. My Father actually died while trying to save his people. My family line does not operate under curses, because we are operating under a covenant of blessings. Therefore, anyone who is fortunate to marry us, becomes automatically fortunate. So mum, For my sake, Your son can not operate under that curse again”

Mum in law, was shocked to say the least, as I could tell what she was thinking. It then made sense, my Sis in laws always had this gloomy look, and two of them actually lost their sons.

“Mum, you need to go and rest, my husband and I need to produce Two sons this night. Because In my family line, we conceive immediately our husbands meet us”. My mum in law, stood up with caution and silently walked out.

That moment all the tiredness vanished, as I took Michael’s hand and looked him straight in the eye.

“Listen, I don’t care what you or your Ancestors have done, but for my sake, you will prosper with this hand. Listen, Paul and some criminals were on a ship and there was a shipwreck. The soldiers wanted to kill all criminals, to avoid them escaping, but the Army officer stopped them for the sake of saving Paul. Micheal, For Paul’s sake, the lives of other criminals were preserved. So sweetheart, because you are married to me, because we are in the same ship, yes this relationship called marriage, For my sake, you can’t be punished for your ancestors sin.”

That became my prayer plea to God from that day forward, I kept praying to God to save my husband, my Sons For my sake.

To the Glory of God, I have Four Sons, None of them died, Now, they have sons and daughters of their own.

For my Sake, my husband’s destiny changed for the best.

Dear reader, it is time to pray to God to save your family and those around you because you are in their lives. However, before God can honour that request, Make sure you are a Friend of God. Paul was not an ordinary person or a sinner, He was a friend of God.

Pray: Lord, For my sake save my loved ones, and those around me. Make me an asset in the lives of those around me in Jesus name. Make my presence In people’s live preserve ME and them in Jesus name.

Religion / How Important Is Sex? by chikachuks1(m): 2:52am On Jun 05, 2018
It has become quite common for Christians to take the line that our business is to talk about Jesus and not about sex and sexual morality. Our obsession with sex is creating a barrier to gospel presentation.

I have to say I am pretty sympathetic to this argument. I never imagined when I began preaching the word of God that our sexual lives would play a big part in the presentation, nor that we would be engulfed in a crisis over the integrity of churches on this issue.

Well, should we stop talking about it and get on with talking about Jesus?

The trouble is, that if we take that line, it will not be the real gospel of Jesus we will be preaching.

It’s interesting isn’t it that the most extended and coherent presentation of the gospel in the New Testament, the Epistle to the Romans, starts with sex, linking sexual sin with the suppression of the knowledge of God and hence idolatry.

To say that we need to stop talking about sex and start talking about Jesus makes two big errors.

First, it undervalues the power of sexual transgression to damage us as human beings and to damage our relationship with God. Our sexual instincts are so powerful and so central to our lives that they are integral to our personal identity. When we misuse our body by abandoning God’s instructions, it helps corrupt our self-understanding. It is actually cruel.

Furthermore, when we turn away from the living God, we replace him by the worship of idols. Again, this worship is often expressed and accompanied by sexual licence. Indeed we are living at a time when sexual permissiveness is the norm and there is no fear of God.

Second, it means that we cannot adequately summons people to repentance. Without the call to repentance there is no gospel. The great sin from which we need to repent is pride – lives directed by ourselves. But this great sin exhibits itself in idolatry, and idolatry often expresses itself in sexual sin as well as the horrors of greed and injustice and lack of love.

That is why I say that there is a danger that we will be preaching a false Jesus. If the Jesus we preach does not transform human lives and does not free us from bondage to immoral sex and greed, he is not the true Jesus.

It would be so comfortable never to mention and label sexual sin in our presentation of the gospel. And it would be so wrong.

Career / Re: Travelling To Canada And Starting A Pure Water Business In Nigeria. by chikachuks1(m): 4:50pm On Jun 02, 2018
papascode:
Good day all,

I have been confused on what to do with the money I have saved. I am a contract staff in one of the banks and I have saved considerable amount of money over the years I have been working there. But I am tired of my job, as same as many of my colleagues who wish they had one quarter of the money I had saved to quit the job.

I am not a lazy man I am very hardworking as adhuged by my supervisors but the issue is I have stayed on one spot for too long and no promotion. My greatest joy is that I was able to achieve a masters degree in a federal university in nigeria while working but my job doesn't give me time to even look out for other jobs.
So please guys I am throwing this up here because I know on this thread there are people who have been in my situation before that made the better choice and are happy for it.
I have two very important decisions to make either to use the money I have saved to travel abroad for school for masters and hopfully settle down there or to stay here in Nigeria to start up a pure water production factory but Nigeria and it's uncertainties keeps discouraging me. kindly note that I have saved up to 9million naira to take up any of these ventures and I am 35 years not yet married.
Please I need honest advice to a brother there are some persons like me who will benefit from this advice we render.
Thank you
my advice is that you go into pure water business with the mindset of expanding to other beverage product. there is money in Nigeria and you will also create jobs. but make sure you do a thorough study of the business before going into it

Religion / Billy Graham’s Last Will And Testament Revealed by chikachuks1(m): 5:05am On May 28, 2018
When Billy Graham died at age 99 in his North Carolina home on February 21, he left behind a legacy of service to his Lord through preaching the Gospel. But according to his will, recently made public, that’s not all there is to his legacy.

Graham left some parting words and assets to his family — and some financial backing for his ministry, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA).

The 16-page document begins with a charge to his family members who remain.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8FWsuP-IlQ
“I ask my children and grandchildren to maintain and defend at all hazards and at any cost of personal sacrifice the blessed doctrine of complete atonement through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ once offered, and through that alone,” he wrote.

“I urge all of you to walk with the Lord in a life of separation from the world and to keep eternal values in view.”

As a comfort to his family, he wrote: “When you read this I will be safely with Jesus in Paradise. I will be awaiting the reunion of our family in Heaven.”

Throughout the next section of the will, Graham chronicled the major points of his life – non-material blessings, such as his simple childhood on a Charlotte, N.C., dairy farm, marriage to Ruth Bell Graham, and love for their five children.

“From the beginning of our marriage, we determined that we would be tithers,” wrote Graham of his and Ruth’s financial commitment to God’s kingdom. “We determined not to be preoccupied with material things, which leads to covetousness and which the Scriptures call idolatry.”

In keeping with his commitment on earth, Graham willed 10 percent of his residuary estate – that which is left after debts, funeral expenses, death taxes, and all other claims are satisfied – to BGEA “to be used for the purposes of the Billy Graham Library Endowment.”

After the posthumous BGEA contribution, all remaining assets will be distributed equally among his five children: Virginia (“Gigi”) Graham, Anne Graham Lotz, Ruth (“Bunny”) Graham, Franklin Graham and Nelson (“Ned”) Graham.

Another beneficiary included in Graham’s will is his literary trust, which will hold the copyrights to his works.

But Graham left more than just parting words and material assets to his family and his ministry. He left behind one last charge – one last “invitation” – to anyone who has access to this public will.

“I urge all who shall read this document to read and study the Scriptures daily and to trust only in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation,” he wrote.

Religion / Televangelist Jesse Duplantis Seeks Donations For $54M Private Jet by chikachuks1(m): 3:56am On May 28, 2018
Televangelist Jesse Duplantis is seeking for donations in order to raise a sum of $54M which is intended to for the acquisition of a brand new Falcon 7X private jet. He made this request just few months after Kenneth Copeland acquired a new multimillion dollar Gulfstream V jet. In the video he released, he said he was believing God for it.

In his words, he said, “You know I’ve owned three different jets in my life and used them and just burning them up for the Lord. Now some people believe that preachers shouldn’t have jets. I really believe that preachers ought to go on every available voice, every available outlet, to get this gospel preached to the world,” he adds.

Jesse Duplantis says he wants this new jet so that he can go to places non-stop, which he cannot do with the plane he currently owns. He adds that God has asked him to believe Him for a Falcon 7X, and not to pay for it.

“Jesse, I didn’t ask you to pay for it. I asked you to believe for it,” he claims God told him.

“I really believe that if Jesus was physically on the earth today he wouldn’t be riding a donkey. Think about that for a minute. He’d be in an airplane preaching the gospel all over the world,” he adds.

Religion / 14 Tips On Child Training by chikachuks1(m): 6:41pm On May 27, 2018
In our various countries, I suppose that we have one or two days which is dedicated to the celebration of our children. If so be, it is important to know that intentionally or unintentionally, these celebrations are ways of reminding parents of their great responsibilities towards the proper upbringing of their children. We see that we live in a society that has decayed, both physically, socially, spiritually and otherwise. Yet, all these decays are pointers to the fact that we need to train our children before we loose them to the decayed societies. If we do not train them, we stand the risk of suffering greatly.
Mind you, every untrained child is a pollution to the society. The Bible instructs us in Proberbs.22:6 to “Train up our child in the way he should go so that when he is old, he will not depart from it.” I want to point out certain things that we out to do in order to train our children right. Perhaps, this article could go a long way in recovering the prodigal children.
1) Live by example: Every child is born into the family before the child begins to interact with the outside world, He/she grows up to know the parents. Therefore, it means that the parents are the first point of contact your children will have. Therefore, be whatever you want your children to be. Do not just train your children with endless lines of instructions. Instead, live the life and let them imitate you. The process of training a child is not as easy as a lot of people think. But this is the secret: your children will learn from you. Therefore live by example. If your instructions and teachings are contrary to your lifestyle, there will be a big gap which might not be easily filled. Therefore, do as you say.
2) Obey God: Next is that as a father or mother, you must seek to obey God. Every tree is identified by the fruit it bear. If your children seem to be disobedient, check up your own life to see if you are also disobedient before you begin punishing your children. Note that in Paul’s letter to Timothy in 2 Timothy.1:5, he said the same faith was in Lois and Eunice (His mother and grandmother) and in turn was transferred to him. Therefore, check up your life and watch against disobeying God’s instruction
3) Obey your spouse: You must also learn to obey your spouse. Husband love your wife. Wife be submissive to your husband. Both love and submission has to do with obedience. If you disobey your spouse and your children finds out, you tend to lose their respect. In a neighborhood where I once lived, I was told that the children of my neighbors had no respect. The younger talks to the elder anyhow. But on a closer look, I discovered that their mother had no respect for her husband. Then, my question is this, where are the children supposed to learn the respect from. You must respect your spouse if you want to win the respect of your children.
4) Start early: You must start early in this process of child training. Go into the life of child before the devil and the society comes in. A woman was asked her secret in the successful training of her children and she said, “I came before the devil”. It is never too early to start, but I assure you, it could be too late to start someday. Chasten the child while there is hope.
5) Discipline when necessary: If you want your child to give you joy in the future, then do not spare the rod. Discipline them when necessary. But make you’re your explain to them the reason for the discipline. We are in a generation where by using canes are no longer allowed. Teachers no longer flog students and pupils. Parents no longer flog their children. No wonder the society grows from bad to worse. If you love you child, once again, do not spare the rod.
6) Commend when necessary: As much as you discipline them for their wrong actions, commend and encourage them for their good actions. If possible, when they do good, take them to places, buy things for them, commend them, clap for them etc. These you must do in a bid to encourage them.
7) Show equal love: It is common in families that parents prefer some of the children to others for unjustifiable reasons best known to them. But this we must know that for us to train our children well, we must make sure we do it, showing equal love to all our children. If a child discovers that he is not loved like the other, he tends to be discouraged. Almost everything you do to him will appear as though you hate him. Therefore, show equal love to all your children.
cool Be prayerful: You must be prayerful. Sometimes, you do all you know you can do and yet there is no impart in the life of your child. Do not give up, use the weapon of prayer. If he escapes your instruction and discipline, he cannot escape your prayer. Why? Because there is nothing impossible for God to do.
9) No carnal comparison: So parents make the mistake of comparing their children with others. Or the compare between one child and the other. If that makes sense to you, then your sense is simply foolishness. If you are used to doing it, then truth be told, you are not training your children in the right way. Make them know they are unique, wonderfully and fearfully made. They can never be another person. They can only be themselves. Therefore quit every comparison, whether necessary or unnecessary.
10) Teach, guide and instruct them: You must teach them. You must instruct them. You must guide them. It’s your outmost responsibility to teach your children with the words of your mouth. Make sure that the words of your mouth are never misleading to your children. Instruct and teach them in godliness.
11) Know their friends: Bad companies corrupt good morals. If you do not check the kind of friends your children keep, you might be at risk at the end. Their bad friends will corrupt all the good virtues and values you have been trying to inculcate into your children. Therefore, know there friends. As much as possible, ask them to bring their friend home. By so doing, you will be able to check mate your children. Also, they will also know that you are interested in their total life.
12) Build up their confidence in you: You must make sure you build up their confidence in you. It will be very bad and disastrous if your children lose confidence in you. They will no longer be able to confide in you. Thus, you lose them to the vices and bad advisers.
13) Be their friend: Strive to be their friend. Not just their friend, but their best friend. Build up a relationship with your children. Not just father to son or mother to daughter. But friend to friend. With this the relationship in the family will be enhanced. Though you must make sure to set boundaries, lest they abuse the friendship
14) Play your role in the family: You must play your own role. Do you want your children to play their own role in the family? Then you must be the first to play your own role. As a father, what are your responsibilities? As a mother, what are your responsibilities? Make sure you play your own roles effectively before you expect your children to play their own roles.
At this point, let me conclude by saying that any child not trained will end up disgracing the family. If they commit a crime in the society, it will end up spoiling the name of the family. Eventually, if you do not train your children aright, you are at risk. Because it is on you and the family that most of their bad attitudes will be executed. With God, all things are possible. Therefore, strive to do your best and God will come in.
Religion / Bishops In England Advocates For Gay Leadership by chikachuks1(m): 3:07am On May 24, 2018
Four bishops in the Anglican church in Lichfield have written in a letter, that gay people should be allowed to take up leadership roles in church. They believe that it is only immaturity on the part of the church to exclude gay people from occupying leadership positions in the body of Christ.

They also stated in the letter that the church should desist from the act of questioning people about sexuality at the verge of choosing leaders. “Nobody should be told that their sexual or gender identity in itself makes them an unsuitable candidate for leadership in the Church,” it reads.

It goes on to note that “intrusive questioning about someone’s sexual practices or desires, or their experience of gender, is almost always inappropriate. It is also unacceptable to tell or insinuate to people that sexual orientation or gender identity will be changed by faith, or that homosexuality or gender difference is a sign of immaturity or a lack of faith.

It first praised “the great contribution that LGBT+ Christians are making” before saying, “we wish to affirm that LGBT+ people can be called to roles of leadership and service in the local church.

“We want to make clear that nobody should be excluded or discouraged from receiving the Sacraments of Baptism or the Lord’s Supper on the grounds of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Note that in all cases excommunication is reserved to the diocesan bishop,” stated the letter.
