angrybull: I know that already. Does it get ploughed back into the business or its used to buy additional shares for the owner? My question is about the fate of the money after 12 years, not its redeemability. |

This is awful! Nigerians should protest this until all the police officers involved are brought to book! It shouldn't be business as usual. They're public servants and should be open to public scrutiny while in public service! |

angelo82: Sir, I have some units of stocks parked. I would want to sell but I can't. As long as the market feels #0.50k is too expensive for them to buy my shares, I can't sell. So, what this new rule does is to allow market forces determine prices of stocks, those who want their money not minding a loss can have it while those who want to sell at nothing less than #0.50k can wait for the market to price it up. They don't lose anything because if it had remained at #0.50k, they wouldn't have been able to sell either. In any case, they don't lose any value until they "voluntarily" press the sell button. |

zendi: Do we really think Skye+Mainstreet = Tier 1 bank? I don't know much about Mainstreet bank after the fall of Afribank but I have a feeling it wouldn't have what it takes to perpetrate this transformation on the back of the acquisition. If anyone has a clearer picture of Mainstreet bank, please let the house in. Thanks. |

This slow but steady market! Many people think its irrational. But I think, IN MOST CASES, where there's no unusual influence, the market is actually rational over the long term. Get your line of best fit that smoothens out the fluctuations and you'll see that the market may not look the side of a fundamentally sound stock for sometime but it eventually corrects the anomaly. A stock may be pushed by sentiments, emotions, market makers far above its fair value but just like a jet suspended in the air by its powerful engines, ones the "external forces" loosen their grip, it still tends to find its level. Major/minor news, corporate changes/results/actions, sectoral policy changes, national policies/direction/issues all play roles in defining the fundamental state of a company. Relying mainly on fundamentals and to a lesser extent, technicals helps me navigate the market without too much of the tensions and pressures attached to market-plays(High BP trading). This doesn't mean I won't take profits when I deem fit. It doesn't also mean I don't lose in any stocks (One of my Ogas in SMN has this signature:- The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent). After all, fundamentals are ever changing. It simply helps me by relieving the pressures of uncertainties in the market. 2 Likes |
