The VAT will be applied to:

a. Commission earned by Dealing Member on traded values of shares(Brokerage Commission);
b. Commission earned by The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and
c. Commission earned by Central Securities Clearing System Plc. (CSCS).

Deduced from mail I received from my broker today.

I think its 5% of brokerage commission.
But if they can waive it, with the current Market condition, it will be good for the market.

And the devaluation isn't coming.

There are pointers one will need to look at to see that devaluation is imminent. The black market isn't even depreciating so fast unlike what we saw in 2015 - 2016 and oil price is still steady at 60+.

So what pointer are you looking at to say devaluation is coming?

I just need to add:

1. I think low oil prices, the type that led to the last naira devaluation will be a long way in coming. I say so because OPEC+Russia have effectively created an "oils-prices-regulatory" arrangement where they employ volume variations to achieve desired objectives. Truth be told, without that arrangement, oil may have been near useless now. While this is not foolproof, it has proven a reliable factor in forecasting oil prices for a while. Its noteworthy that both Libya and Iran are part of OPEC and whenever they exit their particular situations, their productions will still be factored into the OPEC+Russia output quota.
(To digress a bit, this arrangement actually gives countries like Nigeria and Venezuela, whose economies are largely dependent on oil, a soft landing of an opportunity to diversify their economies as the future of the black gold is clearly bleak).

2. Dangote Refineries is expected to come on stream btw 2019 and 2022. It has constituted a major demand for forex in the past few years but is expected to not only become self-sufficient but also generate forex. This is crucial for Nigeria because whether or not Dangote Refineries sells its products in Naira or dollars, the money is largely in-house and largely strengthens the naira/Nigerian economy. There will be savings in freighting of oil products. The economy will benefit from the jobs created directly and indirectly, which, before now, was being paid to other countries nationals working in the refineries that were the sources of our refined petroleum products.

Summarily, baring any unforeseen circumstances, I doubt any devaluation is around the corner.

For the former, i'll be willing to pay up the current rate as bride price. ...she'll make a good wife(spouse)

For the latter, i'll have her as one of my concubine at an expense of no more than N6, while targeting a benefit(ROI) of approx 15% or more in the short term.
I shall however consider 'marrying her for a pride price of </= N5, while targeting a dowry(ROI) of btw 30-50% from her parents when the time is right !!'

Again, NOT a recommendation. ...due diligence should still remain ur 1st priority.
My advise: Follow ur instinct.

Cheers.

Thanks for the detailed response. God bless you

Of course u know that a concubine is not the same as a wife !! ...She is usually 'outside', while a wife is 'inside'.

NOTE: NOT to be infered as any sought of recommendation.
My advise: Pls follow ur instinct.

What bride price will you be willing to pay, Sir?

GTBank already adjusting to the CBN policy. When GTBank begins to advertise its loan offering, you know something is working. Whether this pressure is good or bad depends on where you're standing and how credit/risk management evolves over time

Let me check

Brokerage Commission - 7.3529%

Their minimum brokerage commission is #50. So, that will be rendered as a percentage of the value of transaction if your brokerage commission is less than that value.

To confirm, check your trades of #10,000 and above.

UNBIASED REPORTAGE
People of God, I am done with my findings on Airtel Africa regarding this IPO.
Current dividend yield hovers around 5%ish.
For those who need to make their investment decision before IPO closes on Thursday, please find below:

The estimated Earnings Per Share (EPS) for Airtel Africa based on the issued share capital of 3.7bn shares and US$450m profit is US$0.12.
Converted to Naira, EPS is between N37.20 and N43.90 based on the Official and NAFEX exchange rates respectively.
We estimate the P/E ratio at 9.8x and 10.3x respectively.
According to the IPO prospectus, the company intends to pay 80% of consolidated free cashflow as dividend.
However, the dividend pay-out is dependent on a leverage ratio between 2.5x and 3.5x.
This ratio is currently at 3.01x, so we estimate dividend per share (US$0.07) to be N20.10 and N23.72 based on Official and NAFEX exchange rates respectively
Based on the offer price of N363-N454, this translates to a dividend yield of 5.5% and 5.2% respectively.

You are the CEO of your life! grin

Thanks for this.
Please can you verify for us:
1. how much was used to service debt in the last financial year?
2. Are all the offer proceeds billed for debt payment? If not, could you share the plan for the proceeds? The percentage that will be used to pay down debt.
3. Does the 3.7b OS factor in the shares being issued? Because, the image shared here suggests so.
4. Kindly DM me the contact of Afrinvest.

Thanks a lot.

Note that Q1 PAT is after payment of a fine of 55b(31st March. So, by flat extrapolation, Q2 PAT(after this month end fine) will be 48b, Q3 and Q4 103b each. FY PAT - 302b. Without any fine, full year PAT should be 412b, with EPS of about #20.

I want to sincerely apologize for this erroneous analysis based on very scanty information available at the time and especially so because it sounded authoritative. I categorically state that I would never and never meant to consciously deceive anyone with false information.

If anyone acted based on this information, I am sincerely sorry.

This the Q1 snapshot of MTNN. I am looking for where they paid the fine.

https://punchng.com/n330bn-fine-mtn-has-till-may-31-to-pay-n55bn-balance-says-ncc/

It says somewhere in the article that they paid #55b on March 31; that naturally is in Q1. I don't know beyond that.

It is not true.

EBITDA is different from PAT.

It is with PAT that you calculate EPS abd not using EBITDA.

EBITDA ~ Earnings Before Interest Tax Depreciation and Amortization

PAT ~ Profit After Tax

Oga, what's not true in my post? Funny enough, the post you quoted made no mention of EBITDA.

However, for investors to be properly guided on MTN, a company that has been paying chunks of money in fines, its EBITDA is a way of guaging its earnings potentials without the fines.

I am not here to monkey-hunt for MTN, but its important people get a truer picture and then make their decisions.

Disclosure: I have got some units and bidding for more at suitable prices. I am a long term investor.

Financials of MTNN for Q1 returned PAT of 48b There is a fine of 55b to pay by month end. It implies that Q2 may be a loss. The the other 2 quarters will return 100b combined. Making the full year PAT to be around N150b. EPS will be around N7. When you look at the Attorney General case of 2b dollars matter. It is difficult to say MTNN this year will not be challenged. But 2020 upwards, we can look at MTNN selling between N200 and N250

@Godlylifeoneart,
Pls note that MTN, the company does not own its own shares so they cannot sell 2.5b units of shares to raise money for operations!!!!!. the shareholders are the one's not selling shares and even if they sell, not a penny goes to MTN

No Sir, MTN International owns about 78% of the total shares of MTN Nigeria.
And the whole essence of this MTN Nigeria listing on NSE is to reduce the holding of MTN International. It simply means that those who were negotiating with them did not do a good job.

Otherwise, if you're a full grown lady, its sure unfortunate but much more unfortunate for you.

You expect that you will have the listening ears of any enlightened Yoruba? You need to come up with convincing stuff to push your hate agenda. No one needs to scrutinize you for too long to know your problem is deep rooted hate and probably jealousy.
