Please all these personal attacks should stop.
Veecovee informed the house he sold yesterday. Of course, he thinks people will start taking profits which he stated this morning, asking for people's opinion. I see his post as a discussion starter. Most responses to that post are simply not in line with the spirit of this forum. While I did not sell, I would still prefer a robust discussion with arguments for and against profit-taking.

Let's desist from all these protectionist attitude. Non of us stands to gain from that on the long run.

Personally, I did not sell because I am in FBNH for the long term, I believe it has not finished its climb and I believe this is more of a shakeout.

Disclosure:- I've been in FBNH for over a year and I am ready to be there for about 2 more years, if I don't hit my price target earlier. So, my views are in line with my investment style.

My thots ..I think most of us still look at these stocks that they may go down , cos we are used to uba @ 3 , zeniht @ 13 , fbnh @ 3 , gtb @ 21 etc ..but seem these stocks are trying to go back to their original prices they were 2014 before election

We may not see these cheap prices for a while , as long as the economy is improving

@bolded, and also as Foreign investors are coming back into the market.

It may not be in a straight line but just try and identify a good horse and ride.

NB:- The foreign investors used to account for circa 50% of investments in the market. What are we talking about here?

when we were seeing the MIB bidding for FBN asking people to buy up FBN..they didnt take us seriously..

anyway...make una still try to get in..

This stock is destined for N10 by year end

Truth is FBNH is destined for higher than #10. I don't want to hunt any monkeys here but then truth be told, as NPL subsides, the real earnings power of the Elephant will become glaring.

Again, I am not expecting this to happen in months but if it happens in months, glory be to God.

Are you really the chief fundamentalist when oando is a technical stock?
Do you know what combination of fbn & oando is called?

Bro you still believe FBNH is messed up, don't you?
Fundamentals change and your analysis of any company can change. In fact, the key to breakthroughs in stocks trading is listening and watching for changes in fundamentals of battered stocks.
I don't understand Oando very well, neither am I putting eyes in it but Fbnh that I understand, I have taken a bet on with over 95% of my portfolio. I am not out to convince you because it may or may not be too late to even enter now. But in a year or two, you'll get a clearer picture of where FBNH is headed.

On point bro.

JIJO is good only when your movements are well synchronized with the market.

If they are out sync, you'll find yourself swimming against the tide.

You are even talking about those that sold at 1.15, what about those who panicked when it got to N0.93 and sold out?

A nice name for it is cutting losses, not panic-selling...

bros do u know dat some of these NPL will start peforming by Q3,also i like d courage of this management as dey came up with all these impairment issues, dey opened up to their shareholders....many banks hav alot of NPL and are hidding it from d public in order 2 be declaring large PAT.I was at FBNH agm,one man enlighten us on how banks will presents fake cheques to auditors on 31st of every quarter ,as u know auditors work with what dey are prsented with, after d auditors are done den on d 1st of a new quarter those cheques will b classified as bounced cheque...dey keep rolling this over and over.Rem what eva report a bank presents is what we bilieve, even d auditors cant discover most of these things. We hav to respect this FBNH new management for opening up to sharehilders, dey culd hav decided to concil these informations and go ahead to be paying big dividends but no, dey decided to take d bull by d horn..i promise u these impairments will not cont. 4 eva ,which im ready to wait .PLS DIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION.

Bro, I said key takeaways. And I mentioned "surge in PAT and EPS" going forward. That has factored in the 2 out of big 3 loans that are expected to be restructured this year.

I wanted my report to be free of personal opinion coloration. But if you want my personal opinion, my portfolio is now over 90% in FBNH and I plan to hold because no one knows the date and time the flight will begin. I also have confidence in the management and what they are doing.

I still advice JIJO, short-termers and speculators to stay away. Its a long-term risky play.

Which dividend ? This yr or next year .

Thanks

2016 Year end dividend was from other subsidiaries of FBNH, not the bank. (The bank makes up over 90% of the Holding Company).

Thanks. I was there but I went about 1 hour late. Shareholders were already asking questions when I got to the hall.

Key takeaways:-

1. There will likely be big provisions for NPL again this year but not as high as in 2016.

2. Overall, we are expecting a surge in PAT and EPS from this year going forward.

3. FBN is taking a lead in transaction income (Non-Interest Income) due to its leadership in e-channels' market.

4. From what I gathered, (I came in late) I think NPL ratio is currently above regulatory level to pay dividends. FBNH allowed FBN Bank to retain all its earnings.

I don't expect a higher than normal dividend in FBNH.

They did not serve us item 7 oo, only colder than normal AC and a bottle of Ragolis water at the point of exit. sad

Do your due diligence. JIJO, short-termers and speculators, buying FBNH is at your own risk.

Please everyone should be careful of unnecessarily offloading at this time. Foreign investors vs local investors ratio on NSE used to be plus or minus 1:1. In fact, it used to be tilted in favour of foreign investors. They largely pulled out because of unfavourable dollar exchange policy.
The new investors window could be the biggest factor in NSE in the past 2-3 years.

In times like this, such gigantic fundamentals can overshadow any form of analysis you can be used to. In fact, the entrants could play on the other analysis you are trusting on to outsmart you.

Look at the volumes, as someone pointed out.

This is not to be taken as a buy recommendation but a free advice.

I welcome the idea of identifying stocks that are likely to beat the charts and provide superior returns over the current financial year. I tip large companies making significant recovery from previous loss or below par positions. Unfortunately, the Q1 result will be a pointer and is unknown to the majority of market participants until it is released.

STanbic Q1 is mind blowing shocked

The cement companies are reporting improved margins, Wapco and Ashaka. CCNN/Sokoto cement (poor liquidity though) is one to watch.

Flourmill has great potential, if and when its fortunes improve. Food business is serious business. Market share is commendable.

What does 2017 hold for real estate investment? UACPROP is one to watch here.

These are not BUY recommendations just musings

Call it Monkey-Hunting, but I'll still say FBNH, Diamond Bank or both.

It sure has to be monkey-hunting.

Please buy at your own risk.

Go to SMN and search for this same username; that will give you an idea of how old I am in the market.

But then, you must be thorough about stocks you invest in. If you're not, you should not trust your age on the stock market to do any magic for you.

I'm really curious to know exactly what I missed out on in the hundreds of pages of Transcorps FY 2016.

Answering questions like these will help you identify some of them:-

1. Why didn't a decent increase in top line translate to improved bottom line?

2. Are the reason(s) for the above one-off?

3. Are there positive govt policies I should factor in?

4. Are there major projects coming online or that have come online since the report period?

Etc

Put a crown on its head for a day, dress it in fine robes for a minute, a chicken will always remain a chicken. Transcorp, Diamond and Oando are junk. Their books say so not me. Just because a few people come around and bid them up for a week so they can later dump on some ignorant pigs doesn't change their status as junk.

Only Oando may qualify as junk from your list. You can mark this post for reference purposes in 2 years or less.

Was actually referring to people that went to bid at 1.06 after reading posts on this thread, especially the one you made about Transcorp hitting 2.14 soon. And yea judging by the FY 2016, Transcorp aptly fits into the junk status grin

I doubt you looked at the entire result. While the PAT and EPS are very important components of a company's result, they are not all there is to a company's result. Those multiple pages(some over 100pages) in the Annual Reports of companies contain loads of information.

With which prospects?
That should even make you to invest more cash in fcmb.
If diamond moves,fcmb will skyrocket.
For now, both of them has no comparism.

Sometimes, you may need to do your independent research on stocks. What are your basis for comparison and arrival at your conclusion?

Many times, we don't study companies' results, we just take peoples' opinions about the result and run with it.

Take sometime and study Diamond's and FCMB'S Q3 2016 results.

Disclosure:- I have both in my portfolio.

PS:- This post is not intended to antagonize anyone. I needed to add this so that its intent wouldn't be misread, coming after locodemy's last post. In fact, I had made the post before I saw his last post in question. Peace

Just hope those diamond bidders know what they're buying into, especially as the result will soon be out undecided

Contrary to popular opinion, I believe that Diamond will be more positive than expected and I have staked my money on it.

In the meantime, glory be to God for FBNH, its about 2-years on this journey and we're still very hopeful of better things to come.

Disc: I have Diamond in my portfolio. Not a buy recommendation.

One of the indicators used by Technical Analyst to determine the dominant power between BULLS and BEARS is MACD Histogram (MACD-H). A rising MACD-H shows that bulls are becoming stronger while a falling MACD-H shows that bears are getting stronger.

People can argue back and forth for all time, the truth remains that if you are trading on a company you don't know its fundamentals, you're gambling.

Armed with its fundamentals, anyone knows Oando is in serious trouble. Even their auditors have stated that in as formal a way as possible; he who has ears, let them hear.

Oando borrowed lots of money in order to buy ConocoPhillips upstream Nigerian assets at a time when price of crude oil was high and, I believe, based on valuations using high crude prices. That's the origin of the mess. Who knows, someone can turn this mess to a message.

But don't count on crude prices, because they may never rise that high again.

In the last analysis, you're the master of your portfolio.
