80m units (or ₦800m in value) within a 12month period MUST be reported before execution... smiley
Interesting..
Thank you for the insight and clarity.

It's probably going to create more volatility in some stocks and hence liquidity.

Also it's possible that after disclosure to Ngx, the same insiders change their mind on the trade. This can gives room for Price manipulation I think undecided

Can we say it was a bad investment that time is my question?
This is a case of the End justifies the means.

Flourmill is a good business anyday any time
-consistent dividend.
-You are equally also almost guaranteed return of your capital due to usually non-volatile nature within a time frame.

But return on your investment, mmmm... I doubt(unless less than 10% dividend yield suits you or invest by yr end 2025)

Without the buyout clause that caused the rally..
Did you forsee Flourmill giving you up-to 9% dividend yield or Bonus issue, or approaching this selling price of ₦60 by year end not to mention it's current price of ₦80, no matter its impressive revenue?

Aside the current bull run which is inorganic/setimental)
Flourmill Average price since February 2022 is between 32-33.

It's dividend yield (2023 & 2024 Average price) are both less than 10%.

The buyout price as KarlTom stated is the reason for it's bull run on Selling price so far.
I doubt it would have crossed 50 this year organically.

Point is, I don't think it was the right example to drive your initial point.

What if DANGREFINE wants to make JAIZ their main bankers 🤔.
That would mean an International license and SP BOOM!

Let's be on the lookout for a capital raise by JAIZ. I believe DIL will increase their stake significantly...

At the bolded: 7.24% by H1
On the International banking licence, its unlikely at present.
Not when they haven't raised the Capital requirement for their Present National Banking(non-interest)licence category.

Technically, Dangote Refinery is not a local industry. It operates within the free trade zone and products from there could be considered as importation too.

What are the implications of total deregulation? Isn't it to allow all-comers in the market, whether importer or local? And the government is meant to hands-off totally? Why is Dangote chasing after government protection when the refinery is operating in a free-trade zone and not liable to pay some or any taxes to the government?
You have a point. Not totally local.
Much like opposite of how countries embassy operate. Embassies dont belong to the geographic location but their faraway home country and I think they are given a little leeway in terms of rules of the geographic country.

So DR in the Free trade zone seems more an international company with more leeway international trade laws compared to purely local and indigenous refinery subject to local laws.

Actually, the deal with NNPCL involves a crude swap in Naira. This, I think, is what is attractive to Dangote.

@SpaceX might have a point except NNPCL would not relinquish their stake nor let go of the deal... smiley
Probably why NNPCL refused to buy more DR stake. Cuz they have decided to import themselves.

He shld focus on external market particularly within Africa as @Peace stated.
But I think Nigeria has got the Population and probably quantity required within Africa ..

Help! Please how does one quote more than one previous post in a fresh post?
-->When you quote the 1st previous post, you copy the entire post. Then exit the page.

-->Then go ahead and quote the 2nd previous post.

--> paste the 1st previous post(that you copied) before or after the 2nd previous post you just quoted(depending on the order you want to place them)

--->then comment a fresh-post below the two quoted previous posts.

-------------------------------------
For 3 or more posts,
You could paste the 1st previous post somewhere.

OR
Most phones and computers thesedays have clipboards for storing multiple copied items temporarily.
you can copy as much previous post as you like and search them on your clipboard to paste accordingly in your fresh post.

OR
You could open two Nairaland tabs(previous post page and fresh post page ) on the computer or your phone and copy and paste desired content from one tab to the other tab.

Follow-follow without growing in knowledge in this market na highway to winning big and losing all. After many years of amassing money in the market, it will be time for children to inherit everything.

2. With what knowledge, how will they manage the inheritance? Gamble all in the market?

I bet you've never used ROIC—Return on Invested Capital—or am I the only one familiar with it?
I have heard about it
(Debt + Equity).
I haven't used it (yet).

Though I would assume a lender(bank) would use:
Return on Debt(ROD) grin

Just as Investors-Shareholders usually will use ROE or ROIC as you highlighted.

Terminology can be tricky, but defaults are real, even with collateral. A bank won’t lend money if it senses issues with collecting interest payments—are you aware of this?
I agree.
servicing of debt is key.
They must have seen positive pointers in the company.

I just don't usually classify banks as Investors.

We have equity holders (or shareholders) and debt holders—both are investors, and both carry risks.

Just like shareholders, debt holders or lenders perform due diligence before committing their money. If a company truly had no prospects, as my Oga Emma suggests, no bank would lend to it. It’s that simple.
Just seeing this.
Debt holders as - Investors

It seems like you bend things to suit your view when it’s convenient. Banks are investors. A company obtains funding in two ways: debt and equity, and both are forms of invested capital.
@the bolded. Correct, I agree.
Both are Forms of Invested capital to both the Company and Shareholders.
But to the bank I don't think so. it's not invested capital. It's a debt that must be paid back according to the agreed structure.
otherwise court-case. grin grin

My argument is that banks are investors. Anyone who lends money to a business is an investor because their return isn’t guaranteed.

If Oando was able to raise 1.3 billion dollars, it’s clear that lenders have confidence in recovering their principal. This is basic finance.
I don't think I agree with this.

1)Deducting from u guys argument, Banks are generally assumed to be lenders unless categorically stated as investors and even if so, such banks should also be found in the shareholding structure of companies I think(at least as Influential shareholders if not Major shareholders)

2) Banks return as company lenders are guaranteed through collateral.
(worst case)

Investors return isn't guaranteed.(worse case)

I believe you know all these. You are just pulling legs grin grin

In 2008 FBN securities asked clients whose portfolio was less than N5 million to transfer their accounts to other houses.

Cardinal Stone was newly established then, they just captured the clients given Red card by FBN securities, fast forward to 2020 and beyond Cardinal Stone started getting more businesses than FBN Securities
