Deadlytruth: That flat 100K unit threshold for all stocks is actually to the disfavour of those invested in high cap-low OS stocks. A point.. Also meaning they will have to perform exceedindly well in arithmetic, geometric exponential proportions or a strong positive sentiments for persons/institutions to be able to cough out such huge amount to push it daily I think. How I wish we can get rid of NNPC totally in this matter. Let them just wait for the reward of their 7.5% stake DR will have a measuring scale. If it doesn't match what NNPC says it distributed to the masses, especially when queues surface in future. NNPC go explain where it hoarded the rest.. So NNPC can't be the sole Tracker |

KarlTom: Let me she'd some light on POWER PLANT CAPACITY and REVENUE.
Installed capacity: is the maximum electrical power that can come out of that plant in Megawatts or Gigawatts. In the OandO-NAOC deal, it's written as total nameplate capacity is 960MW. This is the information that js sold to the public.
What this means (in layman's terms) is that at 100% efficiency, you'll get 960MW. Sadly, in Nigeria, we get as low as 8% from some plants.
The 27 Gas Power Plants in Nigeria have a installed capacity of 12,643MW but the average available capacity is a paltry 4211MW (~33.3%)
The more energy generated, the more money available to 'share'...
More details here:
https://nerc.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/NERCThirdQuarter2023Report.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj_sM2lnKGIAxUu9rsIHUbmER0QFnoECBEQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3mJKBmWCNSkEHfdpVaU6EL The image confirms that phase 1 is connected.. I have read somewhere that its usually the DisCos that reject power as well as poor TCN transmission lines with low carrying capacity, despite the GenCos generating and ready to transmit at almost full capacity.. This statistics is poor.. Means we invariably have just 3power plant delivering above 80% to consumers in Nigeria!! Okpai-phase 1 even try, ee cross 50%. |

Raider76: The bolded may not be correct. Just talked with an Engineer at TCN and he categorically said that Okpai is NOT yet connected to the grid. There are engineering foundation, access, security and contractual issues to resolve before the necessary systems needed to evaluate the power can be constructed.
Please don't take this as being -ve. Just trying to learn the actual position from sources I know. I believe whatever problems are preventing the project can be resolved by Oando given their connections. Thank you for the Real time update..#much appreciated. Nevertheless, the Okpai plant is in 2 phases:1 and 2. Just to be clear Sir: Are you certain it's the entire Power plant not currently connected to the Grid or just the phase 2 that's not connected as stated on the punch article? Thanks for the effort to update the group.. As for your second paragraph.. No harm done.. There nothing like negativity or badbelle, when there is a constructive criticism towards a stock and it's worth considering or giving a real time info. Same goes for positivity or "goodbelle" , when there is a constructive praise towards a stock worth considering. If the thread is monotonous, it won't serve the purpose of having a diverse group of people. |

Streetinvestor2: Can you share the link. What was transcorp power PAT since they have the same capacity. Is the oando power plant linked to the national grid. All my questions here are for sincere purposes because I don't have idea about them Constructive criticism is welcomed.. Concerning the Okpai Power plant..As at March 2024: Yes, 480MW has been connected to Grid.( ABJ, Anambra n Enugu,etc...) As for the upgraded MW, No, I don't think it's been connected yet due to no fault of the power Plant but the TCN. 132kv Transmission line needed for evacuation of the power supply hasn't been constructed yet(Punch: March 2024). I think Inflation of >>30% is a strong reason for this.. @Laso. I agree with you here. I think intrinsic valuation of some stock isn't a write off, but I think it takes a back seat due to economic effect as more people key into the market to beat inflation and at least keep their purchasing power by capital appreciation as they began the year.
So a positive news from FA, TA SA, etc will always drive a stock higher than it should as more people look to beat inflation with a higher margin than the actual valuation price of a stock.
Single digit inflation of between 2-5% will see more stocks correctly valued as valuation takes back the front row seat for most part of the year determined by dividend, debt level, bonus, retained earnings, expansion, and other FA metrics.
@ Mankind, I agree with you on the submission below.
retail participation as well as technology has increased the speed and awareness of information and demand side of stocks in the market, this increasing their selling price(valuation price). (irrespective of inflation) |

Omooloriredade: Please look up the meaning of "stakeholders" first, then read the entire paragraph and you will understand why "stakeholders" was used. Not having a dig at you at all. Responding because of innuendos that could arise from this so don't take it personal
Looking to the future, we will continue to pursue strategic diversification opportunities within the broader energy sector that provide enhanced growth and value creation for our stakeholders, particularly in clean energy, agri-feedstock sector, as well as energy infrastructure and mining.
Oando is diversifying into certain sectors as part of their "clean energy" strategy in partnership with other organisations or governments. For example the CNG (compressed natural gas) buses being rolled out in Lagos. I encourage you to google CNG buses. You will find that the FGN also met with Innoson for the manufacture of CNG buses and they may also be looking to import some.
Agri-feedstock - Oando's role here is the provision of the gas required to produce fertiliser for use in the agric business. Look this one up as well. They claim to have substantially reduced their gas flaring as part of their Clean energy strategy instead harnessing that energy for power production.
Considering these projects are not being done in isolation but in partnership with other organisations, governments and agencies, STAKEHOLDERS was the most appropriate term to use.
Also, note that Oando's upstream assets are in JVs with different entities including the NNPC and IOCs. Being an operator in the upstream sector for such high-level entities is a big deal. The use of the word "stakeholders" was apt.
The Clean energy mantra is what all IOCs use now to attract capital. Some funds, banks, portfolios will not invest in projects that are not environment friendly.
