Are you saying one can do a round chain lintel without columns? Please explain? rotecch77: Actually the primary purpose of lintel is to cover the opening void top area to receive block or brick There are others material aside concrete to cover such area I.e specially made thick plastic, steel beam, reinforced concrete.
So it’s not compulsory to chain it round but if you have enough money to do so then you can go ahead to do so it’s will gives some secondary purposes.
More so if you have columns in the building and you chain it round it will help to transfer load to the columns then from the columns to the soil strata |

What about if the concrete is covered with tiles? Is that a good option? tonididdy: Do not go the concrete way... Do an iron tank stand of about 16-18ft for optimum pressure level and it cost about 110 to 150,000. This stand can take up to 4 tanks (ensure to discuss this with your welder before contracting the work out)...
Ps: the price maybe cheaper if you want just a 2 tank stand max or even 1tank.
As for the advice against concrete: it's different shades of wahala |

please *mention his name* because you will definitely be saving other potential clients here and other genuine service providers too. please mention his name. Thank you. Focusmind: Honestly,i don't know why some Engineers in this forum behaves like this?? They will collect money and promise to deliver in one week's time.
After one, two and four weeks no show. When you call him, he won't pick and will be avoiding you.
Stupidly, he would come to nairaland again soliciting and advertising his job again. I am currently pursuing one like that with SARS. He seems to be hiding but we will get him after collecting 300k to deliver on windows. |

Biztech05: Good talk. This happened to me and I settled it exactly this way. But be ready to spend.
In this case you need to meet the original landlord that's main seller if available! Procedure 1 ; Meet them with their family recipt to prove that's where the first buyer comes to help you, by providing the family recipt.
But this would have being the best way to go by Which you approach the CDA if they have that in the community and meet with some of their exco's then narrate the issue, they would tell you how to get rid of the matter ( which mostly ratification)
Because this's issues is out of court ! |

What if the supplier is the owner of the project and buys his materials himself as quoted by the engineer? How can one identify a good grade iron? What's the difference? I use to think if it's rusted then it's not good, but I see here on naira land that most people use rusted iron. Please clarify these. Tnx Chekitaut: Iron rod ripping off method: When order for iron be very careful, if you bargine too low they have there ways of ripping you off, We have different quality of iron in grade & products.
A supplier of iron rod can decide to mix products for you on delivering mixing less grade iron with good grade. A supplier can tip ur iron bender on site to deliver exact what he want and visit supplier to collect difference. |

Assuming other columns are aligned well. Thanks. Am asking because I read some comments on this tread on that issue but nothing was said on its implications on the building. |
