RomanceRe: Me? Do The Dishes With You? For What? by chiogo(f): 11:44pm On Nov 28, 2009
kweenchi:
Washing the dishes is a womans responsibility, I find. Im all about independent women/feminism and all that but we shouldnt take it too far by demanding a man to do the dishes. As women it is our obligation to cater to the man and take care of household responsibilities. Men have their own tasks to take on. Men on the other hand shouldnt take it too far by always refusing to do any kind of chores, like when the wife is sick or tired, assist and help her out.
huh huh huh If you're all about independent women/feminism, your post contradicts that. And if the woman is also working along with the man, whose job is it? Abeg jare. You people yarn too much dust on this site.

CultureRe: Do Nigerians Murder The English Language? by chiogo(f): 10:20pm On Nov 28, 2009
Leftfoot:
@ chiogo  - If most Nigerians are pronouncing "listen" with the T, I will not call it a culture thing.  It looks like somewhere along the education system, someone dropped the ball.  Mind you, if the teacher does not know it, the teacher will not teach it.
lmao. It's no use arguing. You'll never get it.  grin By the way, this so-called English was invented by someone too, right? Most English words are a mixture of french, latin and co. So duh the original way of pronouncing the words were changed from what they were when they were still french or Latin words. It makes me laugh when Americans especially say someone can't speak English when they actually borrowed the language too, that's why they speak it differently from the British. Nigerians/Africans borrowed the language too so they speak it the way they want. Get over it! It's not lack of education when we aren't talking grammatical errors.
CelebritiesRe: There Is Something About Genny: by chiogo(f): 9:59pm On Nov 28, 2009
LOOOL, I remember when that song first came out. My friends and I would be dying of laughter esp. at the part "I will hit you make you cryyyy" wtf??
I like the part in Igbo though, hilarious!!! she can't sing but there's something about that song sha, I dunno what but I like the song.  tongue

well i dont know about you or the rest of yall peeps but i judge people if they look old based on the face.
not body type or whatever other shit you mentioned.
You first. Van Vicker is def. not 27, last time I checked, he was in his mid-thirties. Like I said, his skinny frame makes him seem younger.

sjeezy8:

First time you're making sense. I agree.

well van looks like he could be 27
she looks 35
what do you mean someone cant look older than another person? what a load of bull!
thats like saying george clooney cant JUST look older than zac efron.
she looks old in the face! DUH! what else is it?
grin grin This is why I didn't want to argue with you. Most times, you argue with no basis, without actually getting the point.
I NEVER said one can't look older than another person. I asked WHAT makes one(in this case his wife) look older than another(in this case, Van Vicker).

It could be one's facial features, body type, etc. You can't just look older, there has to be some qualities which makes one look older. You can't even identify those qualities so I suggested it might be her body type and you're claiming it's not, that she JUST looks older. Are you making sense to yourself? pheww

CelebritiesRe: Van Vicker's Cute Family Photo by chiogo(f): 8:54pm On Nov 28, 2009
Just because she's not bone-popping thin doesn't mean she's older than him. Van Vicker is skinny and the woman has some flesh, that might explain the whole "she's older" thing. I don't believe that woman is older than him.

Well as far as Im concerned men who go on and on and on about not doing anything to help at home because they are 'men' are the one's who can barely satisfy their women in bed, if not, your masculinity wouldnt be soo easily threatened!
If you have hands and a mouth to eat, why is washing your plate a problem?
Anyway, its us women I blame. All you ladies shouting here, Ive said it before on other threads, leave these men alone, start with your sons. If you bring your son up to know that after mummy has cooked, to show his thanks, he should wash his plate, when he grows to be a man, he'l know washing his plate is a sign that he was brought up by a good woman. A woman who makes him understand that women are not there to serve men, but to be protected by men!
Thank you!!! kiss kiss kiss

Too many essays, very few make sense.

PoliticsRe: Fat People Now Illegal In Japan (should Be Easy To Catch) by chiogo(f): 5:22am On Nov 28, 2009
I really don't believe this "some people are born fat" thingy. Yeah some people gain weight easily compared to others but I've NEVER met a fat person who doesn't eat a lot. Until it gets really bad do they do the whole diet thing.

Like duh! that doesn't mean they don't eat a lot, they just recently started dieting but the many years of over-eating has already accumulated into fat. If you know you have that slow metabolism or whatever it's called, you have to watch what you eat but unfortunately most people don't do that. That's why they get fat! Fortunately for some, they can eat anything and not gain as much weight. People have different bodies. But mba, nobody is born fat jare.

CultureRe: Do Nigerians Murder The English Language? by chiogo(f): 5:01am On Nov 28, 2009
LOL I don tire oo. It's still the accent!! Leftfoot, it's the same shit. Like the example you gave with the word 'listen', believe it or not, MOST Nigerians pronounce it with the T sounding. That's how the majority say it. It's a culture thing, sorta and accents are part of culture.

I really dunno how else to put it so y'all can get it. The whole silent thing is obviously not recognized by Africans, in general not just Nigerians. This whole argument would be more valid if we're talking about grammatical errors. Who invented the whole silent thing anyway? Just like Americans say names like "Martin" without the T, I don't think English folks do that. Are they murdering the English language too? I bet most people wouldn't think they are, going by how many people esp. Americans think the British accent is "cool". It's the accent. I rest my case. Damn, I should be studying pre-law not pre-med.  grin

CultureRe: Do Nigerians Murder The English Language? by chiogo(f): 3:38am On Nov 27, 2009
You keep saying you're not talking about accents but pronunciation but that also falls under accent.

One of the definitions of the word, accent from dictionary.com

Accent: a mode of pronunciation, as pitch or tone, emphasis pattern, or intonation, characteristic of or peculiar to the speech of a particular person, group, or locality: French accent; Southern accent.

So really, it's the same shit. I've NEVER heard a Nigerian pronounce the country as / N-I-N-E-G-E-R-I-A/ Don't know where you're hearing such.

Referring to someone else's post, Nigeria might have been colonized by the Britons and what not but the accents are still different. African accents are distinct from those of Europe and America so yeah, that's why most Nigerians in Nigeria pronounce the word, muscle as "muzzle" instead of "mussle" like Americans and Europeans would. It all has to do with the accents.

Not necessarily murdering the English language if you ask me. They're using the words in the right context/sentences just not pronouncing it the way you're used to.
