Soludo: Leaders Should Excel In Private Endeavours Before Venturing In Politics (Throwback Photo)

Anambra state Governor-Elect Charles Chukwuma Soludo has emphasized the need for Nigerian leaders to be renowned in their private endeavours before taking up political leadership, IgbereTV reports.

He took to his Facebook page to recount his experience in 2004, when he was first called to take up public leadership. He shared his throwback photo and wrote;

Their career path goes like this: Cultist, tug,TA/SA, SSA, coordinator, chairman, commissioner/ House of assembly member, House of rep, senate/minister-governor.

Why not him tell us how much Sullivan borrowed that he is paying back?

What of Ebonyi state? Don't they receive same meagre resource or even less as monthly allocation from FG?

So for almost 8 years now, your govonor is servicing debt and it does not affect his land grabbing?

Some of these loans run for 10 to 20 years in some cases. Elechi managed Ebonyi resources well. Umahi didn't inherit much debts. It is the next Ebonyi governor that will suffer what Umahi is borrowing now. He will be struggling to service the loans and pay salaries while Umahi will be seen as a saint.

For how much debt inherited by Ugwuanyi, I think Google can be of help

I hope you know that Enugu state is made up of old Nsukka and old Enugu zones. I also hope the Nsukka you are referring to is not Nsukka LGA but old Nsukka zone, comprising of Nsukka, Uzo Uwani, Udenu, Igbo-Eze South, Igbo-Etiti, isi-uzo and Igbo-Eze north LGAs. Ugwuanyi is from Udenu and not Nsukka

Note that the old Nsukka zone is bigger than the old Enugu zone both in landmass and population. Google can be of help to you.

In terms of development, I believe the current government is doing well considering what was inherited. No doubt, the past administration did well but note that they had more resources and borrowed heavily for those roads.

I think one of the challenges of the current government is struggling to repay the loans with the meagre resources and at the same time being faced with the challenge of maintaining those delapidating infrastructures that their loans are still being serviced.

I am not making excuses for them either.

Enugu local politics is not going to help anyone this time like in the days of Chimaroke Nnamani. Things have changed. You need friends and allies within the other regions of Nigeria......and Ekweremadu has that in abundance. Despite the fact that Enugu east has more distinguished politicians than the other regions in enugu today...........who amongst them can boast of having any influence in National pdp? This is beyond local politics!!! Again enugu east has so many aspirants contesting against each other in this race................Ubosi, Nweke, Chinyaka, Odengene, isi-uzo guy, etc A house divided amongst itself cannot stand.

And besides, Ugwuanyi will have less influence in this race than past governors.

I hope you know that Enugu west has just about 10 % of Enugu state population. Enugu north has over 60% while Enugu east has about 30%.

With their population and one man squad, how do you think they can win

2. From igboeze north LGA

Ugwuanyi is from UDENU.
All this Ekweremadu boys...

The rotation is between the three federal rep zones which are:

1. Nsukka & Igboeze-south
2. Igbo-Eze north & Udenu
3. Igbo-Etiti & Uzo Uwani

They produced the following senators respectively

1. Okoro Fidelis
2. Ayogu Eze
3. Utazi

Utazi is currently doing for Igbo-Etiti & Uzo Uwani. Next will come from Nsukka & Igbo-Eze South, which Igbo-Eze South will produce, as Nsukka had taken their turn before.

Please remind the governor that heat wants to kill us in Afikpo. No electricity since he came to power in 2015. I wonder if it is a deliberate attempt to put Afikpo on a reverse gear in terms of development.

Before he came, Afikpo had five commercial banks. Now, only three remain and more will leave too. He has rendered the economy of Afikpo to near zero. Ebonyi state is not only Abakaliki and Uburu, his village.

The only new thing in Afikpo is the substandard concrete roads that are tearing tyres anyhow. Destroying road built by Julius Berger and reconstructing it with substandard concrete roads.

He needs to visit Rivers to see quality projects and not death trap substandard concrete roads, flyovers, buildings and disco lights.

Education / Re: FG Stops Salaries Of University Workers Not Enrolled On IPPIS by chiol: 9:01am On Oct 11, 2020
ASUU should be smart enough to see the hand writing on the wall. For some of their members to enroll at all is a great danger to their association.

They should call for a truce now, else ASUU will be greatly polarized. FG has succeeded in using divide and rule to scatter them. Soon those receiving salaries will have their own association and start lectures. ASUU will not be able to stop them.

ASUU should swallow their pride and tell everybody to enroll and call off the strike immediately to save their union from being polarized.

I still cannot understand how an employee should be mandating his employer on the method through which his salary should be paid.

I think the best thing for an employee is to look elsewhere if he is no longer ready to play by the rules of his employer than dictating to his employer how he must be treated.

Young lady calm down,

Personally, i've studied Nigeria enough to realise we don't love what we make here . There is no connection between the industry and research institutes, in many developed countries, U.S.A. for example there is this connection i'm talking about. There are excellent research in this country which if implemented will make the country far better but we don't trust ourselves until a white man comes to sell the same for us. example is innosun, and other locally made things. Do you know the formula for zero coke was a research done in Nigeria but the man sold the idea to them in the 80s?

I am a man. Not necessarily that we do not like what we produce but we always produce inferior things. We like cutting corners.

I heard that Nigerian cables are more preferred due to it's high quality. If you invent a quality thing that makes economic sense and ready to solve societal problems, even private companies - local and international will be running after you. Sponsorship will not be your problem.

Our people keep demanding for research grants as if they want to invent heaven on earth, at the end the money will be used for luxury. The old Scientists we know today, who gave them research grants? I know many lecturers that used their research grants to build houses. They collected millions from the FG for research and used the money to build their personal houses.

Thiwalade:

Leave them alone, they do not understand that a Nigerian lecturer in a public university has excess workload. Imagine marking 1,000 scripts plus research and your family yet get paid so little. If you have at least a B.Sc and your project is capital intensive, you will understand research is not child's play. An average nigerian lecturer with at least a PhD will get employment overseas and make more money than your rathole offers. Just as doctors are leaving the country cos your govt doesn't value them, a time will come lecturers will leave your universities to you. You can employ unqualified personnel then as you wish. IF YOU WAnT A GOOD EDUCATIOn SYSTEM, InVEST In IT AnD SEE THE DIFFEREnCE.

What is the impact of your so called research? With the number of professors here we still import ordinary tooth pick, yet they corner billions as research grants.

They spend the grants on houses and cars, at the end they will coauthor journals and copy other people's research works.

With the money FG has spent on research grants and foreign scholarships in this country, we suppose to be self sufficient in many things by now.

I think the bulk of the budget should go to primary and secondary education and they should be free and compulsory. Tertiary education should be privatized.

After your qualitative secondary education, if you can afford tertiary education then you attend. If not, the qualitative secondary education can still take you to places. Aside the professional courses, the university education these days are over rated.

Professors everywhere with little or no contribution to the solution of our problems and they keep wasting the time of our youths in the name of strikes. No new inventions. Recycling handouts year in year out and be demanding for the whole resources for themselves alone.

Is there any sector that is not underfunded in this country? Nigerian primary school teachers are also among the least paid and they contribute more than ASUU in the society. Yet they are more dedicated

I once participated I election as an adhoc staff and before we submitted our ballot boxes and result sheets, they had already started announcing the results. We didn't know that the materials given to us were fake. In many PDP states, especially in the east, there has never been election since 1999 till date. All they do is selection.

Once the PDP cabals share the positions among themselves, on the election day, they will write the results accordingly. The same goes to LG elections. APC members are not saints either. The same thing go on in states they control.

My submission is that the punishment should go round and not only to a particular party. They are all the same.
