Some unions feel they are more important than others in this country. ASUU, oil workers, doctors, etc. They always want to sabotage and bring the country to it's knees with their unwarranted industrial actions.

Other workers like bankers and security agents are just watching you. They too know how to go on strike o and the day they will start theirs, you all will hear something. They are only being patrotic and considerate.

The Senate has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to look into the suspension of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) maintenance and withdrawal charges by banks.

This was after a motion on "illicit and excessive charges by Nigerian banks in customers accounts" was raised by Senator Gbenga Ashafa during the plenary session on Wednesday.

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu seconded the motion, saying: "The ATM charge is not the only charge we get from the bank, there are VAT charges and so on; this is unacceptable. We have the Customer Protection Agency in Nigeria, but they are not living up to expectations."

The issue generated much debate on the floor of the Senate and after much deliberations, a few resolutions were made.

The Senate directed the committees on banking insurance and other financial institutions and finance to conduct an investigation into the propriety of ATM card maintenance charges in comparison with international best practices and report back to the Senate.

It also mandated the committees on banking, insurance and other financial institutions and finance to invite the CBN Governor to appear before the body in order to explain why the official charges as approved by the CBN are skewed in favour of the banking institutions as against the ordinary customers of the banks.

The lawmakers urged CBN to suspend the ATM card maintenance charges being deducted from customers accounts, just as they called on the CBN to instruct the commercial banks to configure their machines to extend to N40,000 per withdrawal, pending the outcome of the investigation by the committees.

The Consumer Protection Council was called upon to be up and doing in taking up the plight of ordinary Nigerians by looking into the various complaints of excess and unnecessary charges by Nigerian banks.

When did NASS assume the responsibilities of CBN? Banks are not government agencies that NASS can interfere with their operations at will.

It's CBN that supervises banks and not NASS and CBN has an act guiding it's operations.

You think Atiku can restructure Nigeria? Restructuring is a constitutional mater that requires NASS amending the constitution.

All he can do is just to send the bill to the NASS and to ascent to it when passed. The bulk lies with the NASS.

I hope you know there is such a bill currently in the NASS, which they have been sitting on all this while and people like you believe that it's Buhari that is stopping restructuring

If your salary is reduced from 140k to about 40k and you don't have savings, will your life remain the same? PMB has really tried by not downsizing and still paying salary regularly

A 31-year-old salesman, Michael Daniel, has been arrestedfor allegedly conniving with robbers to burgle the shop of his employer in Ogun State.

Police spokesperson in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, revealed that the suspect was arrested following a complaint by one a woman, Titilayo Ero, of Dorf Royal Events Centre, Asero Abeokuta.

He said the woman reported that she had about 52 computer monitors in her store only for her to discover, in August,that the store had been burgled and all the monitors carted away.

“Detectives swiftly moved into action and invited the salesman who was barely three weeks old in the employment of the centre. When he was thoroughly interrogated, he confessed to being the brain behind the dastardly act”.

He said the suspect explained that he invited one Smith Ajao, 23, to join him in the night for the operation, who was later traced to an hotel in Sango Ota, where he was arrested.

The police spokesperson said the suspects led detectives to Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, where 48 of the computer monitors were recovered. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

I supported them in 2015, though I couldn't vote because I was transferred. I have successfully transferred my pooling boot to my new location in Ebonyi state and come rain come shine, BUHARI will have my vote.

Saraki should just be counting down on leaving that position for the nation to move forward.

Keep deceiving and giving yourself hope. I don't know why it's difficult for some to see the political permutations clearly. I hope many will not commit suicide after 2019 elections.

The exit of Atiku just made the APC's chance in 2019 brighter. He was a major contributing factor to the problems of APC since this administration. He was wearing the badge of APC and working for the PDP. He was instrumental to the emergence of Saraki and Ekweremadu. He has also been a major factor to the legislature - executive friction which lead to late passage of budgets and executive bills just to discredit the executive.

Now he is gone and is seen as an enemy, APC will be able to work freely. Saraki now works freely with the executive unlike before. His actions recently in using his veto power testifies to this. Saraki cannot join PDP again, as Atiku moved before him and both had the same interest - presidential ticket. Saraki would prefer staying back in APC with hope of coming back as the senate president to going to struggle for PDP ticket with Atiku.

Be wise politically!

They are good orators but non told us the step by step approach on how to deliver their plans. It's not enough to tell us that you will build roads, provide electricity and even build homes for everybody; but tell us how you will achieve these.

How would you get the funding? How would you diversity? How would you increase your IGR without over taxing the indigenes? What would you do to improve the standard of education and not just that you will pay more attention. You will provide security, how?

Willie is good, he knows d job far more than the rest with there empty promises. Allow Willie to finish his good works. From indications it's obvious that if those guys mistakenly win, they will block all the good deeds that Willie has got on d way. very easy to criticize a sitting governor but Willie handled them well.

I am from Enugu but I think voting Obiano out will be the worst mistake for Ndi Anambra. Speaking English fluently is different from governance.

At a time many states, including the Niger Delta states, cannot pay salaries, Obiano is not owing a single month and he is still embarking on capital projects.

None of the orators told us how they will execute their plans. Those were only empty promises. Don't be deceived by long grammar.

Remember the abandoned properties saga after the civil war. Suddenly, the SS remembered we are brothers, so we can support them achieve their selfish interests, of which we will be dumped thereafter. Your hero remembered Ebele Azikiwe as part of his names just to win our votes. What did he do for us afterwards. Did he answer those names when he was governor? Is he still answering those names? You are now supporting their militants. When FG decides to settle them, what will be your share?

PMB is only indirectly affected by this rubish. We, including the militants are bearing the brunt of this economic sabotage directly. PMB enjoys uninterrupted power supply while we keep living in darkness.

Why did they just realised what they want? They forgot that they were being marginalised when their brother was the president. It just shows clearly that their mission is to create artificial economic crisis, thereby inciting the masses against the President, so they could use the opportunity and come back to finish Nigeria in 2019. God forbid bad thing!

Have you ever gone through our previous national & states budgets before. If you do, you will find that this budget is one of the most transparent & decent one. Before now, the legislature used to be a rubber stamp to the executive as it is in most states today. Anything the executive gives them, they pass it, so far their share is contained in it.

Though I don't support the budget padding, as done to rubbish PMB by GEJ apologists in the budget office, the NASS is only delaying the passage just to reach a compromise wt PMB as regards to the corruption charges against their leader.
They should weed the "padded budget" fast & pass it for PMB to hit the ground running. Enough of this delay please.

I think the governor should first increase the minimum wage before telling our dear president to devalue naira, so civil servants will not bear the brunt.

He should start looking inwards to take the advantage of this to better the economy of his state. Let him start investing in local goods. Previous devaluations never helped us, instead our situation worsened. Once you devalue, let say 300 naira to a dollar, the parallel market price will jump to about 600 to a dollar. So, how long should we continue with the devaluation?

I think FG should even go ahead and close all the domiciliary accounts. Every account should be naira denominated. If you want to import, you must do that through the CBN. They will convert your naira and wire it to your customer overseas, provided the item is in our import list. That way, they should be able to monitor imports and the use of dollars. If you choose to go and buy from the parallel market, it will be useless as you can't pay it into any account directly.
