I know but there has to be balance. Social development is 100% important in the life of a child. U as a parent won't always be the one to talk for ur kids or make friends for them. So once in a while u let them socialise and do their own thing, if they do something bad, they'll even find out the consequences on their own and that will affirm what u have told them

In some situations, raising a child and then locking them up might even make them too susceptible to peer pressure when they finally get out of ur prison, e.g going to university. That's why u see some freshers going overboard just to exercise their new found freedom.

It's just about finding the right balance to raise a balanced person who can not only make his own decisions but can also be trusted to make the right decisions.

I guess parenting is really difficult so Nigerian/african parents just take the less stressful way of just zeroing all social activities for their kids instead of finding the right balance. Kudos to all good parents out there tho.

My own parents kept me at home 24/7 and it made me develop shyness.
