Trust me, some of us have been where you are, done crazier sshit without building GUIs to showcase distribute them, so try to follow the advice others have given. Learn swing, which might open your eyes to other stuff, then if after doing all that, you still feel the need to create a GUI for your Prediction app, then go ahead.

My name is Nnadiekwe Dave(you can add me on facebook). i am from imo state but based in Delta state. 18yrs of age... although those information might not be necessary.

i just finished writing a java code and executed it using comand prompt and it worked very well. exactly what i wanted. Now the problem is that i want to take this application to the next level i.e designing the application verywell and to make it executable on devices running java platform and maybe android platforms as well.

i would like to know the cost of the development and design and where i could go for the designing and so on OR if you can help me with guidelines to make it executable, i would be very glad.

Abuja – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence
Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday began seven days
fasting and prayer for an end to the lingering
Academic Staff of Union of Nigerian Universities
(ASUU) strike.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja
and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the
corps, Mr Emmanuel Okeh.
The statement said that Dr Ade Abolurin, the
Commandant General of the corps, directed the
officers and personnel of the corps nationwide, to
embark on the exercise.
It said the corps embarked on the exercise to
seek God’s intervention following the deadlock in
the talks between the Federal Government and the
striking university teachers aimed at resolving the
issue.
“Worried by the ongoing strike embarked upon by
the ASUU, which has resulted in the shutdown of
universities since July this year, NSCDC
Commandant General has organised a special
prayer for the nation.
“ The CG has declared seven days fasting and
prayers nationwide to seek an ultimate solution to
the problem,’’ it said.
The statement said the move was borne out of
the desire by Nigerians to see an end to the
strike.
It quoted Abolurin, as noting that the inability of
stakeholders to come to an agreement in
resolving the four months old strike was an
indication that divine intervention was the only
solution to the problem.
“While lauding the effort of the government and
its unwavering commitment to end the impasse,
Abolurin said the nation should not underestimate
the power of prayers at critical moments.
“We should not be ignorant of the devices of the
devil whose mission is to steal, kill and destroy;
but through prayer and fasting, the glory of this
nation shall be sustained and the much needed
success achieved,’’ the statement said.
It said that stakeholders, including parents,
guardians, government officials, the striking
teachers, students, religious leaders and opinion
leaders should pray for an end to the problem.
The statement said that the continuous stay of
students at home had made them vulnerable to
negative vices which “portend danger to the
future leaders’’.
It also appealed to the National Union of Teacher
(NUT) to rescind its decision to embark on a
sympathy strike, saying that this would further
plunge the education sector into an unnecessary
and avoidable catastrophe. (NAN)

Contrary to media reports that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU was to hold it’s National Executives Committee meeting yesterday, the union leader of university of Ibadan, Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye has claimed that there was no plan for such meeting.

Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye claimed that stories which made the rounds on Saturday, that the National Executive Council, NEC, would hold an emergency meeting in Kano, were false. Ajiboye was speaking in an interview on Diamond FM, University of Ibadan and stated that no meeting was scheduled for yesterday, as they were still in the middle of a seven-day morning, which was declared in honour of the late Professor Festus Iyayi, a former national chairman of the Union.

It would be recalled that Iyayi lost his life in a fatal crash, on his way to Bayero University, Kano, where members of ASUU were to meet and reach a final decision, on whether to continue with the strike or accept the federal government’s offer. It is hoped that at the expiration of the 7days mourning of Iyayi, the union will reconvene to ratify decision on the lingering strike that has paralysed the academic activities of public universities in the country.

i beg you all fellow nairalanders and Nigerian students not to discard this vital information. this is real and undiluted news. i got information yesterday night from a Uniben prof and he told me same thing even before i came across it on nairaland. hopefully the meeting would be held by friday. go and wash your school b fish out your books.

Boss Ttdiamonds: I have to say those individuals (Students in tis' case)...cravin' hard for ASUU to suspend the ongoin' strike...definately wasted their time doin' nothin' durin' the period of the ASUU strike....
My Reason: Tis' is cuz all individuals who have/had engaged themselves in enterprisin' acts (makin' money doin' one business or the other) dont want the strike called off at tis' point/period, they'd rather have it called off next year...
Plus I really dont see why the strike should be called off tis' period.. The year is gone already, they'd only induce stress in students especially those who are goin' to have a semester exam on their hands.....

and what makes you comfortably think that there would not be stress imposed on students if it is called off next year? know that schools will eventually try to catch up with the school calendar. so, it is better they call it off this year to reduce stress.
