Standard application.

I want to say a big thank you to everyone that has posted on this platform since 2019. I have been reading this tread since early 2019 and I just come to read people’s question and answers given to them. It all led me to today’s good news. Thanks @Mimi, Justwise, Lagosisourhome(hahaha) and other old guys who don’t come on like they use to( tobexin, stenon, and the other troublesome guy that fights with Aprokodaughter everyday since early this year.

Thanks all.
Someone said early hours 12-1am and 5-6am or in between them, I used it and it worked for me, you can try it too. Hope it works for you. Regards

Good day @Chreze
Congratulations on your application.
Please I wanna confirm how you went about getting accommodation for ur visa application.. I’m really worried.. some said I don’t really need accommodation address to apply.. pls i need ur guidance..
pls let me knw how you went about it..
I’m also traveling with my wife and kid..
Thanks
I didn’t use any accommodation address, I only explained that I have made arrangement for accommodation, but yet to confirm and will confirm when visa is approved for family. That was what I did. I have heard people use school address too and they got their visa. My advice is, since both options are allowed, I think it’s best you go with the one you are most comfortable with. Reason is because you need your confidence during the visa wait period and having doubt won’t help you during that period. Go with your preferred option and explain which ever decision in an explanation letter if you so desire.

Wish you success...

Hello, Congratulations!

Please I have a question, when you were paying for the IHS charge, it was paid separately right?

Because I'm the principal applicants and have two dependants. When I got to the IHS page and completed the form, at the bottom of the page its stating I don't have dependants.
Is that normal, and I should just proceed?

Complete my payments and fill the dependants applications.

Thanks in anticipation of your prompt response.
Yes. That was how mine was. I guess reason is cos everyone pays for the IhS separately.

Please, when booking appointments for the family, were you able to get the same day and same time? If no, please how were you all able to go for biometrics on the same day?
Check early hours and late hours. 5-6am and 12-1am. Especially weekdays. You get to see lots of slots during those hours.

Get one persons own to say Thursday, then start to work on other people’s own to meet that date. Using those early hours, you will achieve it. Also note that time of the slot doesn’t really matter, what matter is same day and you all will be attended to at same time using the earliest time slot of all.

Pls is this $955 for a year IHS or more?
Yes for a year, using Paga verve for that day I did my payment, there is possibility that it might have either added more or less. You know this things are based on exchange rate and it fluctuates.

Congratulations on your Visa. I have few questions below. Will appreciate your answers

1. Did you write a Cover letter for yourself/spouse to support your application. Example by explaining the living expenses funds for your wife and child is in your bank account.

2. On the visa application form with the question "Do you know where you will be staying in the UK? Did you answer Yes by inputting your school address or you you answered No and stated that you will be staying in a private accommodation.
1. I didn’t write anything about their living expense being in my account because I believe if they are your dependent, then that covers that all. I only stated in my application they will be traveling with me and for every sentence in my letter of explanation, I used “We” instead of “i”. And yes I wrote a letter of explanation as, I didn’t like how my CAS stated the financial part (scholarship, deposit and balance). So just to be on the safe side, I did a better explanation to satisfy myself. And also passport change and all that.

2. I didn’t think it was reasonable or wise for me to put in school address as the place I would be staying as there was no way I would be living with a family in the school lodge. So I picked “no” and explained I had an arrangement, and will confirm the said arrangement after visa has been confirmed. I would have used school lodge if I were to travel alone, I was just honest with the whole visa application thing cos I realize it’s easier to explain and won’t contradict yourself if you tell it how you are planing it.

Hope this helps.

Once you have a child or children .... I think your deposit is fair game. It might come back or might not. If it doesnt then that the price to pay

Furnished or unfurnished, still boils down to individual circumstances. For students I just think the hassle of getting furniture and then moving with it or having to dispose of it.

If a student feel he or she can handle that then go for unfurnished. Scared just wipe clean when you move it . If it breaks it breaks but you just try your best to keep an eye on children
Thanks. I am planing a 6months stay in furnished, with the hope that wifey should be able to get a job. Then we will work with location of her work place and baby daycare to get unfinished apartment and continue from there. At least with her and the baby location confirm we go know say na my own remain. Also after 6months, we shud know where to get good stuffs for furnishing I believ.

My narrative is quite similar to yours. I have a wife and a son

My questions:
1. I have all the funds for all three of us in my account, will that be the same bank statement I will be submitting for her and my son ?

2. She currently holds a passport with her maiden name, however she's done newspaper publications for change of name. Will she required to do a different passport bearing my surname or a letter will suffice

3. Consent letter ? What's the content ? Was it notarized ?
1. Yes. I did same.

2. For this I am not too sure. But here’s what I wud do in your case, use her present passport, attach marriage certificate and news paper publication for change of name. Remember the newspaper publication states that all documents in her previous name are still valid. Then add a letter just to make further explanation to satisfy yourself( this is very important for peace of mind).

3. It was just an ordinary letter stating that the child is yours and that you and wife permits that he travels to the UK. Tho I find this funny as the child is traveling with the parents but I did upload one. The one I used is on my system. But I can share the sample I got on here to you.

Please for number 2, I will advice you wait for those who have far knowledge and experience on this journey to advice you too before making decision.

Make sure it comes furnished.... since you are a student do not touch any flat that comes unfurnished.

2 bed or 1 bed will be a personal choice. .. council tax is exempt for student so the other difference in bills light, gas, electricity might not be so much between the two.
I find this advice important to me as I have lived in a furnished studio when I was studying some years back in Asia. In fact I got married and we both enjoyed the furnished studio apartment then. But now there is an infant and though I intend getting a 1bed room furnished apartment in Glasgow, with kitchen and bedroom on a space of its own cos of my infant, I am very much concern about having an infant in a furnished apartment, as any form of damage caused by the child on the furnitures or property will be expensive.

I very much believe in furnished apartment for student year(s) and you can do otherwise when you get a job. But never tried with an infant(boy) and I have a feeling he will be a miraculous/magical boy. He’s displaying a very good climbing skills and while he has not caused any form of damage in our present apartment (3bed). I am scared of a furnishing that belongs to another.

Please advice with those specific info above.

Pls Anyone and everyone with miraculous/magical kid(s). Pls help a junior club member.

Thank you.
My question
1. Whose bank statement did you put in wife's application
2. Who wrote consent letter for your child?
3. Is it mandatory to do TB test for kids under 10yrs?
1. I used my account for wife
2. We wrote consent letter and both signed.
3. We got a Health certificate for him, but below 11yrs don’t undergo that TB test. They just do normal temp check and heart beat.

Yeah someone did that some months back. Can’t remember who, then I just come to read people’s experience and challenges. So I am sure you can. But then the payment Chanel will be “Paga” n not “Paga verve”

Please, to pay with Paga verve, do you need Verve card? Or you can pay with mastercard?
I don’t think it matters. Mine was master card and still went thru. I think it’s just general Nigerian card, the issue is if you card has the limit of 500k. Then that’s the thing as you will need two cards to complete ihs and visa fee.

Are these payment made via black market rates or official CBN rates biko
I don’t know what cbn present rate is, but I used Paga verve and it was charge at #381 to $1 from my calculation. Which I think isn’t bad. Based on the crazy amount on black market.

Please, how did you pay for the ihs, I have been trying to pay through out the week and I have not been able to.
I used Paga Verve, when list of payment channel to use comes up, you scroll to the right you will see Paga Verve. Choose the Paga verve, on the next stage you select pay with card and they will direct you to where you will input your card details and confirm. I think some banks have limit, I think my bank Stanbic was 500k hence could not complete for one person, but gtb is 1m. After you pay IHS and you can’t pay visa fee, then limit could be the issue, you just get another card to compete process.

Yeah. I did that after the reply from you, cos I had similar thing in mind. I felt adding 4months For dependent wasn’t my job to do since it will be automatically added to my visa. So I just flowed with what i felt was okay and to my surprise, it came out with the price I paid. Tho I have not done for my son, but am certain it’s gonna be same.
