claremont:You killed me with that line. |
Ahappygirl:Congrats. For NHS treatment, I did not give birth to my son in the UK and he gets proper treatment from the Health payment we made (which you tag as free). So I am very sure your son will get that treatment for free (in your words) cos the ones wey dem born outside but de here de get the treatment. I don’t know what part of the UK you are in, but from what I have seen, this UK people don’t joke with “kids n treatment”. So you go enjoy that one wella. For the visa part, I think getting him a passport is the thing first, I think visa part go be issue when you decided to carry am comot from UK and come back e go turn issue. I am not sure of this, only answering from reasoning, so you will have to wait for the 20yrs UK resident them to answer. The only reason why I am writing the part I am not sure of is because when woman born her worry de increase expecially when the matter na about the child. So na to calm you down and let you know say nothing de happen..... |
hustla:Hahahahahahahahahaha. If I am to advice any one about abroad matter, I will say “ just be open minded”. By that I mean, don’t go for a particular race or people, just go for real human. When you see them, you go know say na real human be this and not animal, the only problem here is, you that is looking for real human go gat be real human too. |
Lexusgs430:Bros marriage matter no easy, I no de like put my mouth inside. I have realized we all want different things, some people are fine with crazy people, because there is a part of that crazy person they don’t see outside. I guess that’s what is meant by “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.” The only thing I tell anyone is don’t lie to yourself. If it’s not working or going to work, you will always know, but sometimes we want to lie to ourself just to keep faith. Marriage matter no easy. Simple |
Bmuhd4smile:I don’t know about the using a different email address part, but it’s normal to have a change of heart. You don’t have to apply from a different email address. I think you can write to the school to inform them of your decision and let them advice you on what to do next. But I think it’s normal to want to change course as long as you have the qualifications for the new program. |
It took me 4 months in the UK to be able to manage my time properly. I think that’s the biggest thing living in the UK to be precise. Now I know how to manage: Academics, Me time, Spending time with my wife, Spending time with my son, Spending time with my wife and son, Managing my businesses, And creating time to speak to family and friends around the world. The only part that was completely shut was the nairaland time. But now we have gotten that part figured out. Cant stop thanking the people here for all the advice. If you comment on here and you ever doubt your contributions to the world, baba doubt no more, na una de make some people life better and una no know. |
TheGuyFromHR:Thanks man. I think I understand you clearly. |
Also una no tell us say UK no b 24hr a day. My own no de complete 24hrs, before I know day don break, do 2 classes and night don reach. God go help us for this UK ooo. Person no even get time at all. |
Good morning all, what’s your advice on getting a property with this rating in the pic. I remember Fatima once advised last year to go for houses on b or c. Generally I am concerned as to how high the bills will be. (The property is further enhanced by double glazed window units and electric heating.)

Inkredible:Trust me bro, if you still believe our problem or challenges is caused by another (country or person) then you are listening to “them say”. Nigeria’s problem is Nigerians. Let me take you back to how things were in the old days. In a village, they combine resources (money n other stuff) to send a promising person in the village to school, he gets the knowledge and comes back to develop the village. A lot of communities in the past grew this way (I am sure some didn’t work out, but that’s not the point of the example). What I am saying or trying to say is that we need develop our self for the growth of our nation and not just the growth of ourself and family. Lately, the generation brewing is a selfish and self centered one. It’s all about ourself. I will tell you what is contributing to this selfish nature. It’s cos of constant comparison by Nigerian parents. We compare kids a lot and now they want to be the best alone and not collectively. No more group best, just single best. Let me even give you a funny example, before we use to have music groups, a lot of them, at some point it just changed to everybody solo. At the end of the day, I go sing one song, you go use the same beat sing your own, something wey we suppose de sing as group. But na me sing pass no go let me bring you in. See eh, this Naija matter don de pain me since. Make I just stop here before I go go de take the thing personal. |
Olalekank:No, I think you got the message wrongly. “Very Very” doesn’t mean i don’t know it’s real, it means it raises the bar to the highest, that’s why it has 2 VERY’s. The truth is the COVID is getting to a new height more like daily and there is a constant reminder from the views from my window. If you go back to my post, you will see I have always wondered why people don’t believe it’s real, especially the guys here, cos it’s beyond reading news and all that, this one is right in your face. Anyhow sha, thats just the thought. |
wallg123:Men it’s scary, I just pity doctors. I am sure a lot of them didn’t sign up for what’s happening now. God go give them the mind and faith to continue the good work. |
Abeg this siren wey de blow almost every hour, shey na COVID patient them be, because the thing de sometimes make me fear for doctors and what they are going thru. I wonder why people don’t want to take this COVID seriously. |
LagosismyHome:Truth is I have seen them spank their child, but I noticed the ones who spank their children have some kind of issues. Like the junkie parents and illiterate ones. Not to be one sided, but that’s from my experience, those junkie parents reason completely different, one would wonder if they are OYibo’s as we call them. Make God just help person because some children de wey them beat well well and they turned out great, some de wey them no beat and them b stab-star. parenting sometimes can be scary I no go lie. That part of you that wants to be a good parent is what makes it scary. |
As Nigerians we believe that beating a child is a good corrective method and a lot of this believe comes from the fact that we were beaten and we turned out fine. But the thing is, we didn’t turn out fine because we were beaten or corrected, we turned out fine because we decided to turn out fine. Because of that childhood beating we now have itching hands, when a child does anything we perceive as wrong the next thing is to hit that child. If I am to advice anyone, I will say one should try everything possible to not beat their child, reason is cos learning this days is far far different from how we learnt in those days. Now children understand conversation and because they are thought this things in school, they now believe that their parents are suppose to talk to them or discuss things with them and not hit them. As a parent who lived both life’s (old and new), you should understand that environment is key in everything in life, if your child is here, you have no option but to raise them as it is done here( by this I mean the right ways), if they are in Naija you can add some of the things of their surroundings in discipline. If you treat or raise a child here in the Naija way, you will break that child, trust me, and if he’s in Naija you have to raise him the Naija way but add civilization to it. E no easy at all but, I think it’s the right thing to do. Expecially in this modern day, cos you can’t be living the old ways in this new age. |
wallg123:There is one opposite my house. They don’t let someone enter inside, I watch them from my window, the lady will just collect or give a note and the person goes back. I will go there tomorrow and see how it goes. Na them de make the COVID thing very very real to me. And the ambulance that drives pass almost every hour with that sound reminder of what is happening. |
wallg123:Cool. Thanks |
LagosismyHome:Yeah, I have his card. We have not registered with any health center. Looking at getting a permanent accommodation then we can register close to the house or what do you think. We should just register and transfer when we get a permanent place. The lockdown is just making little things big. |
So something has been on my mind since. My son was suppose to have a 1yr 6months vaccine in Naija, but we are here now and I expect his suppose to get some vaccine here but this corona virus no let person go hospital to ask or confirm anything. What are we suppose to do now. Or maybe my question should be what vaccine is he suppose to take here at that age and how do we go about it with the corona situation. I have seen news of doctors (GP) moving to attend to COVID due to shortage. Tho he’s very fine and no issues. I introduced fruit to him early to help boost his immune system right from Naija and he has never fallen ill since birth except those teething temperatures. I still feel like he’s suppose to get some vaccines here, if not continuation of his Nigerian vaccine, something that is taken here for kids his age. Abeg experience people make una advice me, what are we suppose to do. |
wallg123:Hahahahahaha.... |
Aprokodaughter:That’s just the answer to this whole conversation. I believe it should be different application for different kids and scenarios. |
@ Wallg123 Sorry to take you back, but how far with your daughter, I have been using style style to wait for you to tell us she’s fine and nothing. Hope am not diving into personal ish. Just tell me say she de ok, and all is fine. Good morning.... |
Aphrodite007:Sis trust me no b so e b for airline oo, na so them say e go be, but no be so, them try but e no b like that. People still stand and wait for each other to come out from toilet and another person enter. What I know I can give them hand for na say they made sure no one removed their mask except when eating. That said Make we enter airport, people plenty for airport ooo, both transit and arrival. In fact transit plenty and you know it’s different flight from different places. I didn’t see anyone wiping rails after it was used. Neither did I see anyone cleaning anywhere. Sometimes i go just say na God protect person, but when I see the people wey die, I no fit say God no won protect them na. The thing just de one kind. When I read doctors dying and all that, e go just be like say make No one come out at all cos it’s disheartening doctors losing their life trying to protect you, but when them say sit at home, everybody go de speak English and preach freedom for tv. |
Lexusgs430:Bros there are some things wey more research go need to come out for us. Some of this things I feel say na assumptions cos if e de enter thru eye ball like that, then forget am everybody for this UK get as our HR guy talk. Till today I am still wondering how come everyone who flew around the world are not infected, bros for flight and for airport people just de touch same knob and rails and all that. That flight own still scare me till we completed 14days before my mind come down. When I watch people suffering at the hospital men I go just de feel sad, if no be fear of going to the hospital I for go donate blood make them see use work for people cos we gat do the little we can. I for carry my family go donate. Na just fear of going to hospital. |
RalphJean:No worry for that one, we go wait for when them church people go say he was going through some things and couldn’t think straight at that time, that was why he was saying those things. No worry you go hear am. |
Lexusgs430:For COVID matter, I think avoiding using the bus because of getting infected is a little too much cos the chances in supermarket, shopping centers and even your house door knob (not your room) is also a risky thing to do. I have one rule, in whatever you do, don’t take your nose mask off or touch your face and if you must take off the mask (to use faceID), make sure to use a hand sanitizer. For me I go out and not take it off all day, I have accepted that it’s our new accessory. You enter a bus, give space and be careful. Come down use hand sanitizer immediately. But avoiding a bus for fear of COVID mean you will avoid going to supermarkets, you will also avoid delivery of grocery cos you don’t know who selected the items you ordered if he’s infected. The earlier you start to live with the virus, the better for you Cos from what I am seeing, the Virus is gonna be around for some years. Not just because of the vaccines, but because of the people. People still have little or no idea about the virus and some still thinks it’s the government trying to control the people. |
@vooom Have you considered getting bus pass. I don’t know which part you are in, but since there is lockdown in the uk and you won’t be able to move round, I will advice you set all your journey for one day. That day you get a “day bus pass”, set out early and do all what you want to do that day with the daily bus pass. That way you spend only mayb 4.6p or 5p and do all your runnings. Becos this one wey you won start to learn bicycle for road, make e no turn “Egugun be careful” matter ooo. |
Mimzyy:Yeah, I spent yesterday on their site and saw they have good prices. Thanks. |
mumsjoy:Na why e b experiment. Experiment sometimes e no de add up. Na why sometimes them de do am repeatedly to fit write report. Hahahahaha |
Its funny how one will come here, ask one questions and get millions of advice on different ways to go about just that one issue. God go bless una for this work wey una de do. And for the person that thought of creating a platform like this, God go direct that person to the whole Nigerian governance issue to solve. Thanks guys, una just make this relocation thing be like vacation. |
@5gee @Tobexin @Flinton, I think a better way would be depositing naira, then buying Busd, then using it to buy Bitcoin or any other coin. Busd is binance own dollar and it’s lesser than USDT and also gives you that balance calculation for your dollar to Bitcoin. That naira own de be like cheating if you calculate an reach ground. Also someone suggested Resolut bank to me here and it’s actually a good one. They are familiar with Crypto and offer their own package too for crypto. Tho I don’t intend to use them for crypto (at least not now) but being familiar with Cryptocurrency means they will understand the payment that comes in from the payment channels and not give you wahala that can be possible from these other banks that don’t believe in Cryto. I know say most banks don de come in now, but no be person money them go hold and use learn crypto as HBSC de do people. |
