Just out of curiosity why hasn't anyone experimented with Wind Turbines.

These past few weeks Sun shine was a huge luxury here in Port Harcourt.

In the month of Sept and October some days it rained or was cloudy for 6 straight days
With very poor solar yield. Even today 16th of Nov its still raining in ph.

I had to improvise and maneuver to make sure my batteries don't fall below 12.3v but even at that on 3 occasions the batteries fell to 11.9v and 12.1v before sunrise.

My battery bank is 48v 600amps (12nr) with a solar array of 7350w (15nr 250w & 12nr 300w) and 2nr Outback Charge Controller FM80

These has necessitated my research on wind turbines but it seems to have very poor reviews.

I want buy 2nr 1000w FuSystems wind turbine paralleled to give 2,000w.

Please those who have used wind turbines please what is experience.

You have a lot of PV power even with the poor weather that you have experienced in Port Harcourt. I have a client who I monitor his system and his numbers have always been better than what I see here in Lagos. He has 18kwh in lithium ion batteries. You have 14400 Kwh useable (50%). What do you consume during the night?

They have them back in stock. And about the in-built BMS, it can be easily bypassed to use something like this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000345753274.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.4fc97588tYOT7C&algo_pvid=ddb1cd95-b02e-4c21-9958-af24ed6638d2&algo_expid=ddb1cd95-b02e-4c21-9958-af24ed6638d2-0&btsid=815bcec7-1eb4-46f5-8c10-e4e006c9608c&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_6,searchweb201603_55

I don't work for battery hookup but I like that they have really nice deals for DIYers.

You will use a $17 bms with really thin balancing wires on a battery that size? And you will bypass the internal BMS how? Please explain. I am curious to know how you intend to accomplish that. I have a bunch of $17 bms in my office that I will give you for free after you purchase the battery.

Well, Lagos alone needs 10000MW. for 24/7 power...plus a 1000mw of power costs $2.21 billion dollars. 5000MW would cost 12billion dollars. Our budget is 20 billion dollars.

Plus, Dangote refinery was built for 10billion dollars. 3 billion came from Dangote himself., the rest came from loans sourced with the help of the GEJ and then Buhari government.

Dangote Group has said that Standard Chartered Bank was arranging funds for the project.

“We will end up spending between $12 billion to $14 billion. The funding is going to come through equity, commercial bank loans, export credit agencies and developmental banks,” Dangote said in an interview in Lagos on Tuesday.

“Hopefully, we will finish mechanical (construction) by next year and products will start coming out in the first quarter of 2020.”

Nigeria’s central bank would provide guarantees for about 575 billion naira in local currency for 10 years, with African Development Bank providing a $300 million loan. Trade banks from China, India and some European countries are also in the mix, Dangote said.

Thankful for social media and for the utility companies caring enough to tell consumers the reason behind the power outage.

The solution to our power challenge will never be solved by the government. In the United States the government does not generate a watt of electricity. The government regulates and approves of rates that consumers get charged.

The US enjoys a very robust capital market and the utilities use them. If you want an income paying investment you either purchase a bond or stock issued by a utility. Nigerian utilities don't have that access.

The rate that utilities charge consumers are too low to make investors want to lend money to the utilities. This is the reason why the Federal Government has intervened time and time again.

The consumers have very poor habits. They don't like to pay and they consume electricity that they don't use.

Utilities in some instances have taken matters into their hands. They offer certain customers guarantees in exchange for higher rates and that has enjoyed some success. A nice start but we need better ideas.

There has to be a collective will by us the consumers, the providers and the capital markets for the power situation to be resolved. The Government has spending priorities, the includes healthcare, Education and infrastructure. Without expanding the income collection rate and revenue base they will always struggle to meet meet ongoing obligations. Add power and you can see that the deficit gets even worse.

The solution will come from the private sector. We can think Uber or even Amazon and apply lessons to power delivery.

The demand exists and if we are willing to think out of the box we can make this a problem that existed only in our past.

It is shocking how you have downplayed the huge contribution your brother has made to your lives. He is your sibling and not your parent and yet he was paying fees, giving money for business and he even gave a car.You even said he did not deprive himself of anything to make these sacrifices. No wonder he avoids all of you.

You are saying no one is asking for money or anything but your posts are saying otherwise: 1. you have mentioned that people wonder why your brother works in shell and you an engineer in a hospital
2. You have said your elder brother is not moving. 3. He wanted to marry and did not receive any support from your family but got criticism on top of it.

Let's not kid ourselves here, once he let's you all in, the requests will start piling in.

It is extremely off putting and creates strains in relationships.

Maybe your brother cut you all off so he and his nuclear family can progress, i imagine if he kept carrying you all, he would be stuck catering to you forever and depriving his family of the kind of lifestyle appropriate.

The fact that he would rather render assistance to strangers than to you all speaks volumes and reinforces the fact that he must see you all as life draining and toxic to his well being.

Fortunately, relationships cannot be forced. Pour your energy into making yourself rich too and focus on your own family.

All I explained happened some years back.

We don't depend on him for money. We are all hustling our own but he is our brother. I don't call him to ask for money but I should be able to call my own blood brother and talk with him.
It sounds like you folks burnt the bridge and expects him to erect one for your convenience. He was never close to you. He was close to the oldest. What are you calling him to talk about when you never had a relationship when you were younger?
When was the last time you took a gift to him on his birthday or when he gave birth to children? Did you buy diapers when they gave birth? Did any member of the family attend baby showers or baptisms?
He is suddenly family because you work in a hospital, what effort did you make to invest in a relationship when you were younger? Did your family ever apologize to him or his wife for your treatment of her? You obviously are not as superior as you all believed abi?
Your older brother that got a gift what did he ever give to his nieces or nephews as gifts from an uncle on their birthdays? When was the last time you took them out? What relationship have you attempted to establish with the kids?
You are talking about you and what the others needs? Talk about what you have done for a change.

He did not deprive himself anything. He works with shell(manager) and helps alot of people in the company. Sometimes people he helped wondered why am working in a hospital for someone that read engineering.

Why are they wondering? If it bothers them that much why don't they help you? They should be paying it forward instead of engaging in silly talk. They are showing themselves as ingrates and undeserving of help. And why is it your business who he helps? You should also ask yourself why you are working at a hospital if you are an engineering major. Being a manager does not mean one makes a hiring decision.
You folks get it wrong with your expectations of a salaried individual. He is a salaried employee with real time expenses.

Ps she has treated infection often and on but this smell is what i dont understand.doctors should help too.
Why is it that the smell refuse to go away because she bathes morning and night(rule while growing up in our house)
I am sure your mother herself is embarrassed by the smell. One of the reasons she bathes frequently. Get her to a good gynecologist. Tell her, it is part of her routine exam. Let her get a mammogram while she is there. Please find a woman gynecologist, Someone with empathy.

There are many different things that cause odor. It does not necessarily have to be hygiene. It could also be hormonal. As a non medical professional I suggest you take her to a good doctor.

She has endured the insult and pain from this for a very long time. Your father has not helped either. Help her end the misery in a very humane and dignified manner.

Gurus, I have a Fangpusun 150/70 with a 48v 200ah Ritar AGM battery bank (8 batteries), 9 250w solar panels in 3s3p configuration and I am experiencing it going into float prematurely - hence it does not fully charge the batteries. If I am lucky it charges it up to 53.7v I have read online that this is a problem with the algorithm as it senses the voltage at sun up and uses it to calculate how long absorption time will be.
Absorption voltage currently set to 56v and float is 55.4v.

Is there a workaround that one can adopt? I see they have resolved this in the Victron v1.42 firmware but as we are stuck with the v1.16 what can one do?

I have the Victron and I have the same issue too. I also use the Conext MPPT 60 150 and it does not have the issue. My lithium ion batteries don't get fully charged with the Victron. It goes into absorbtion and float very quickly. Raise your float voltage and see if it helps.

Hi Christopher,

I am the sales manager for Nigeria and all communication should go to me.

Selling and promotiing fake copies of our technology is a serious fraud, we will continue to take all necessary legal actions. This may include taking legal action against your company, maybe not in Nigeria but sure in the US where there is protection against counterfeit products.

We are not sparing any efforts or expense in this matter, this is driven from Victron Energy owners.

You have to balance what is most intelligent for you to do. To sell these products will only damage your reputation and your pocket.

I ask you again, as I did, to stop selling and promoting illegal products. I believe you are smarter than that.

The Quattro has 2 AC inputs and 2 AC outputs. Even if you do what you are thinking about, only one of the two will work. It looks at the most qualified and that is what it uses. I am guessing at what you are driving.

Thanks for the quick response Mr Chris,
am just being a cheapskate here, trying to bypass getting a generator cabling to the inverter and using the output of both PHCN and GEN after the changeover and in the sequence of Line one for the AC1 Input and Line two as AC 2Input.

Overall I think I will try the standalone as earlier adviced, my concern though is that I hope that is the actual problem since that will be an extra investment.
Turn the load side off. Turn the AC out off. Does it do the same. As for zero watts your mppt on the inverter could be bad. It worked since you added the extra panels. Double check your connections if they are fine suspect the controller. If you have a spare controller test my theory.
An breaker between the controller and the PV is a must. Turn everything off. Turn the PV off. Let the inverter power down. Then turn the inverter on and then the PV. See if the controller wakes up. We have blown à few controllers up connecting directly. We removed the batteries with the PV connected and we got a firework show.

Do you have breakers between your controller and your panels?

Operation Safe Haven: Group reacts to Agundu’s appointment, Atolagbe’s removal as Commander
ON JULY 26, 201812:20 PMIN NEWSBY TONYCOMMENTS

A civil society group, the Plateau Peace and Good Governance Watch, has reacted to the alleged removal of Major General Anthony Atolagbe and appointment of Major General Augustine Chris Chukwudi Agundu as the Commander of Operation Safe Haven by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin.

Army deploys troops to Benue, 5 other states
The group said, in a statement, that Olonisakin had, following the continued attacks in Plateau state that led to death of scores of Nigerians, removed Atolagbe and subsequently replaced him with Major General Agundu as the new Commander.

It said it received with satisfaction the appointment of Agundu, saying the new commander will bring his experience to curtail criminality in Plateau axis.

It therefore commended the decision of the Defence Headquarters in this regard, saying more lives would now better be secure with the expertise of the new commander.

Rev. Ezra Samuel, National Co-ordinator of the group, in the statement, said the removal of Major General Atolagbe and appointment of Agundu was long overdue.

Samuel said, “Contrary to the news making the rounds, Atologbe was removed over his failure to address the recent crisis that resulted in loss of lives in Plateau line with laid down protocols.

“The Plateau Peace and Good Governance Watch urges Nigerians to discountenance any insinuation that Atolagbe was removed for any reason other than his handling of the crisis in Plateau state.

He therefore advised the new Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Augustine Chris Chukwudi Agundu, to avoid the apparent failings of his predecessor in the discharge of his duties.

“He should distance himself from ethnic sympathies that could becloud judgment and taint professional reputation,” the statement added.

I googled it as requested and this is my finds, that:
1, this even took place last year, July 2018 precisely and I still want to know the reason is just coming out now...
2. Till u provide an evidence, I still believe the allegation is false because it was even a civil society group that was justifying his removal
3. I did not read anyehere, the word sack, only I read removal and replacement
4. Lets stop Hate and embrace way forward. PDP and their benefiaroes are losers.
Don't empathise with them unnecessarily, they killed us bad while in power, a typical example of a pdp man was that show of shame that took place in that sexx toy shop story, believe it or move on...
