BetaTechnicians: Fangpusun is currently changing their designs as seen with their D versions, probably if they'd done so earlier, they may have been invisible.
They made YouTube take down my video of the XTM and told me to stop buying Fangpusun products. That the legal team would take action against me
Victron is telling you that you should stop buying and using Fangpusun. They will take legal action against those that do. Those of you that sell it they promise to come after you.

Overall I think I will try the standalone as earlier adviced, my concern though is that I hope that is the actual problem since that will be an extra investment.
Turn the load side off. Turn the AC out off. Does it do the same. As for zero watts your mppt on the inverter could be bad. It worked since you added the extra panels. Double check your connections if they are fine suspect the controller. If you have a spare controller test my theory. An breaker between the controller and the PV is a must. Turn everything off. Turn the PV off. Let the inverter power down. Then turn the inverter on and then the PV. See if the controller wakes up. We have blown à few controllers up connecting directly. We removed the batteries with the PV connected and we got a firework show.
ojeysky: Finally hooked up, could not get a DC breaker with amp low enough and voltage high enough locally but have found an appropriate one via AliExpress (20A/440v) so am running direct for now. However I have a concern, at around 7:30 I was getting 440w harvest but now that I have turned it on with load, I am getting just a little above 220w and I am wondering why this is so. I thought with load the generation should increase, please what I am not doing right?
It might have a PWM controller. Verify that and I can give you an answer
ojeysky: It's right on my roof, is it possible that it's throughout the day that it's not getting enough sunshine because I have not seen anything above 450w since morning. At the time of writing this, I am only receiving 0w
Do you see voltage from your panels? What type of charge controller do you have? How are your panels wired? Do you have breakers between your controller and your panels? Answer and I can speak more to my suspicions.
Boyooosa: Operation Safe Haven: Group reacts to Agundu’s appointment, Atolagbe’s removal as Commander ON JULY 26, 201812:20 PMIN NEWSBY TONYCOMMENTS
A civil society group, the Plateau Peace and Good Governance Watch, has reacted to the alleged removal of Major General Anthony Atolagbe and appointment of Major General Augustine Chris Chukwudi Agundu as the Commander of Operation Safe Haven by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin.
Army deploys troops to Benue, 5 other states The group said, in a statement, that Olonisakin had, following the continued attacks in Plateau state that led to death of scores of Nigerians, removed Atolagbe and subsequently replaced him with Major General Agundu as the new Commander.
It said it received with satisfaction the appointment of Agundu, saying the new commander will bring his experience to curtail criminality in Plateau axis.
It therefore commended the decision of the Defence Headquarters in this regard, saying more lives would now better be secure with the expertise of the new commander.
Rev. Ezra Samuel, National Co-ordinator of the group, in the statement, said the removal of Major General Atolagbe and appointment of Agundu was long overdue.
Samuel said, “Contrary to the news making the rounds, Atologbe was removed over his failure to address the recent crisis that resulted in loss of lives in Plateau line with laid down protocols.
“The Plateau Peace and Good Governance Watch urges Nigerians to discountenance any insinuation that Atolagbe was removed for any reason other than his handling of the crisis in Plateau state.
He therefore advised the new Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Augustine Chris Chukwudi Agundu, to avoid the apparent failings of his predecessor in the discharge of his duties.
“He should distance himself from ethnic sympathies that could becloud judgment and taint professional reputation,” the statement added.
I googled it as requested and this is my finds, that: 1, this even took place last year, July 2018 precisely and I still want to know the reason is just coming out now... 2. Till u provide an evidence, I still believe the allegation is false because it was even a civil society group that was justifying his removal 3. I did not read anyehere, the word sack, only I read removal and replacement 4. Lets stop Hate and embrace way forward. PDP and their benefiaroes are losers. Don't empathise with them unnecessarily, they killed us bad while in power, a typical example of a pdp man was that show of shame that took place in that sexx toy shop story, believe it or move on...
Thank you. I Googled it and found the same news article. It is amazing the level of disinformation in circulation in Nigeria today. All the ills that plague Nigeria we have laid at the feet of the Fulani man. We have zero personal responsibility. Your wife gets pregnant while you are away. It will be blamed on the Fulani. Your village people in your village kidnap you. You know who did it. THANK YOU FOR USING YOUR HEAD. I wish more would do what you did.
It is amazing the FFK can have such disregard for facts. This man was transferred in 2018. The Army does not prosecute criminals. They can only arrest and hand over to the police.
ojeysky: So I have double checked the manual, @chris81964 is right a startup voltage of 150 is required. I guess that explains the source of my issue. Now to look for funds for 2 panels
Edit: Mppsolar has also confirmed that 6 panels is required minimum
Sorry you had to find out after you purchased the inverter
ojeysky: I did make the comment before finding your reference in the manual[1] and yes I know it's the votes that is important but based on my panel specs having 2 extra panels will be optimal since I won't mostly get a 150+ with 5 panels of my specification.
Thanks though for the comments and support.
Regards 1. Please see my previous post as I acknowledged your comment accordingly
I did see your post after. I read through a thread before I respond. I also went and read the manual again before I asked you to read it. I triple check before I respond. Glad we got on the same page
ojeysky: Bros it seem you didn't go through this thread, yes I have read the manual, yes I am using the high voltage unit and yes I have passed the 120v. Are you saying that the high voltage range also require 150v at start-up? Well I didn't see that in the manual but will double check. I guess that means I will need extra panels if what you've stated is on point.
Thanks
I will pretend that you did not make the above comment. The number of panels is less relevant than the voltage. If you have 100 W panels and there are 6, you will not get to 150. Your delta is the voltage. What if your panels produced 37.5 V each then you will only need 5 to get to that number (150V).
ojeysky: Got back home and it's still the same thing, no charge from PV! Wew, strange that a CC with over 120v still cannot start-up. My people any idea on what else I should look into, could this be a faulty panel or a problem with the connection itself?
Thanks PS: I left the battery at 23v now it has discharged to 22.5v which means even with the high rays of sunlight it didn't pick-up at anytime while I was away!
Go back and read the manual. Just because it see voltage does not mean it would work. On the manual the start up voltage is 150V plus or minus on the high voltage units the MPPT range is 120 to 450V. To start it needs 150 plus. READ THE MANUAL.

The system is running ESS Assistant with 50 watt grid import allowed, no export.
I've got 3 DBs; Main DB powered by the grid only Base DB on AC1 output (Essential loads) Aux DB on AC2 output (also controlled by battery soc)
System is running smoothly, tweaking still ongoing
Before the second coming, I shall definitely switch to lithiums.
A few pictures... Disregard the messy wiring, there's still beauty in chaos
Trippledots: Bros, google is just a phone screen away. Just google what is li-ion battery. Better you have a basic knowledge of this thing you are fiddling with than learning with experience how brightly lithium fire burns.
Get the basics first, then you will ask the relevant questions.
Even if u decide to try some experiments, alteast u will be prepared for any possible eventualities.
We love you and we won't you to enjoy this Buhari era with us
One lesson that I have learnt over time is this. Why should I drink panadol over another person's headache.
It is amazing that despite all the good advice that you have given this young person they insist on what they think they know.
I have been doing customized lithium ion solutions for about 1 year. We initially did not use a BMS. We destroyed a few batteries but eventually the inevitable happened. Our client had a fire. The fire service had to break the door and they told the client that the fire had to extinguish itself. Our Chevy Volt Lithium Ion batteries had caught on fire. The smoke damage cost me almost N100k to clean. I have not painted the room yet or fixed the door that got broken. The charge controller got destroyed (Schneider) but we were lucky the Schneider SW inverter is still functioning.
Used laptop batteries have cells of different capacities. Some will charge and discharge much faster than others. It is just a matter of time before you get a problem with your fan and the batteries. Pray that you are at home the day it happens.
Trippledots: Free forklift batteries? Where do you get such deals pls?.. I won't mind a connect too.
So about this post, are you suggesting that these cells weren't worth the trouble eventually?
They require a lot of energy to get capacity from them. I have 3200 watts in PV and I am 100% of the grid. It has not be consistently sunny. Each cell needs to see 2.7 V. That is not happening until I rent a generator. To properly charge them I will need more than double my PV or rent a gen.
I took a step back and returned to lead acid batteries. I don't recommend it to anyone that has used Lithium Ion batteries. If I were in Nigeria I would have thrown in the towel and returned to my Lithium ion units. Am I the first to use Forklift batteries for solar power in Nigeria?
In addition to my Nissan Leaf Lithium ion batteries, I acquired this beauty. They are 750 AH (C6 rate). I have seen them on YouTube for solar power. I am excited to be doing what others have done.
bigrovar: not at peak though.. generations usually peak between 11 - 1 and subsequently drops off. The standard practice is to use the 77% rule which will account for heat, wiring and charge controller related loses. do your calc with 77% of the capacity of the solar panel hence 300 x 0.77 = 231 231 * 5 = 1,155 using 5 hours is also a safe bet. Such calculation as this should err on the safe side and as such should focus on a minimum average
If you use 5 sun hours in your calculation and you lack access to the grid in Lagos or Port Harcourt you will be in a world of pain. I use 3 hours for a customer with no grid access and 4 to 4.5 for those with the grid.
Dam5reey: I thought at this point we have enough real life experience.
Why can't you state your experience, example my PV provide this kwh per day, average, best case and worse case
Instead of maths..
My experience can never be yours. Solar power and sunshine hours are not things you make up. There is data to back it up. Rather than take the lazy way out find out what the number is for your area and ask people to correlate.
mctfopt: If we assume a 6 hour of useful sunshine in location we'd have for each 300w panel the following
300w x 6hours = 1800wh or 1.8kwh.
For the 8 PVs we'd get 1.8kwh x 8 = 14.4kwh/day
But you know it's impossible to have the 300w production constantly which is gotten under standard test conditions not with the fluctuating sun, non standard temperature, problem with tilt angle, shadows, sun's angle of hit to the PV, age of PV, etc. So if you go with like 40% of that you may probably get something like 5.76Kwh daily more or less.
Experts are welcomed to weigh in
Where outside of the deep North do you get 6 hours of sunshine?
I broke down and joined the LG AC Revolution. I run it from 1030 am to 430 pm daily and for 1 hour at night. I am not so sure that it is that much more efficient than a regular AC. There are many options on how I can run it relative to the window unit I have in my office. My Nissan leaf batteries are kicking ass.
CNN80: Hi, thanks for replying. Sorry, I was not clear before. When I said from the panel, I meant through the inverter. Basically, I was wondering if the wiring could be done such that once the inverter is drawing power from the batteries, some sockets are automatically bypassed. I want to be sure that if I leave the house, my fridge will run only when the inverter is drawing power from the panel.
I received a quote for a solar installation with GSL Powerwall and I'm looking for people who have had experience with it or something similar.
You can buy inverters that will allow you to program parameters that would allow for them to only provide power when those parameters are met. You can also prioritize different power sources. If you are willing to spend the money the Schneider Electric and Victron Energy inverter will allow you to do that. I run my home and office on solar power and I used repurposed EV lithium ion batteries. I have been 100% off grid since January of 2017 and the home and office has experience 24/7 power. We run all our water pumps, microwave oven and other household appliances. On very sunny days we run our 1 hp AC on it.
CASHCOW247: Yes... The battery is on the negative terminal. The load on the system is within 500w-700w peak. The inverter brand is correct.
The battery may not be charged to float everyday, but it is given a very reasonable charge on days it doesn't go to float
....by replacing with a good battery, I mean rotating the batteries....ie, taking battery 1 to 4 and batt 3 to 2.
Change the battery cable. That has been the culprit when I have had that problem. Build a new cable with a new lug. The battery charges well every where except in one position.
