Joebie:Lol oya no vex, name the several keepers besides Kameni and Onana. No wonder u provoked like u did. I'm so sorry I misconstrued the whole statement earlier. |
Joebie:Oboy that was so puerile of u, why did u flare up that easily? I am sorry if that number was massive but u promised same number or something similar in ur previous post, that was what really drew my attention because the exaggeration was kinda delusional. Just name the players or keep quiet make we hear word. |
Joebie:Don't be jumpy buddie. This aint no double standard it is called being real, we cant keep deceiving ourselves. Breel Embolo was with the tag "Cameroonian prodigy" but at the end he dumped Cameroun for the Swiss, same route mvogo is gradually towing. Wake up bro, if ur profile as a player doesnt read "Nigerian, Ghananian, Cameroonian etc" forget it because there is an unwritten rule that if u good enough, u aint gonna represent any of those countries u consider a fall back. Bro until a player(with double nationality) pulls the green and white, he aint no eagles' prospect. Same is applicable to other african countries. I am done creating fantasies and stupidly dwelling in them too. Ola Aina can still do a Sydney Sam. Damne the argument anyways, school me, give me the names of the 7camerounian keepers who are starters in their respective club sides in Europe. Don't mind the conditions i gave in my earlier post. Ur time starts now... |
Joebie:I challenge u to list them. Bar Onana and maybe Kameni who just left for the Turkish league who else starts in Europe with Cameroun written as his nationality? |
Joebie:This Bournaventure boy is gonna be one hell of a striker in Belgium this season. I have my eyes on him. |
As much as I'm not a fan of Onazi's style of play, I won't fault him for yesterday's misadventure, rather, Rohr for fielding two defensive midfielders who like making forays, the less said about Onazi's inability to maintain his position, the better. Rohr tried it against Senegal, and we were headed for disaster until we had a blessing in disguise which brought in Ogu. I thought that was enough lesson but no, we had to leak our wounds before we learn. Agu we read in a report likes sitting behind to allow his partner push forward, he tackles just like onazi but more clinical with his unlike onazi, passes better than onazi and is hardly drawn outta position unlike onazi, but outta our loyalty for captaincy and experience, we left the better player on the bench. Even ogu would have been more disciplined. Rohr got his tactics 70% wrong and only he can tell us the rationale for ousting onyekuru from the match day squad for Osimhen. Onyekuru would have, as he has always been, an upgrade in S. MOSES (We saw it play out in the Belgium league). What that match needed was wing forwards not wingers because we ain't got tall strikers for aerial balls. We needed an onyekuru-like WF to cut in not a headless chicken in Moses who kept puffing and hoofing. A winger who could neither cross nor cut in shouldn't be getting a call up even if he plays for Madrid. Simon will never grow. Moses was all dribbles with zero final ball. Musa was even worse. I blame Rohr for all this. That game needed both pace and urgency but our wingers couldn't offer either. I would have crucified him for playing iwobi wide, but I can't because when iwobi came to d middle, he still couldn't do no jack. Iwobi was poor same as KC who could hardly dribble, coupled with his awful first touch. He didn't even manage a short on target though the midfield wasn't productive. The last time I talked about onazi shaping in or shipping out, some guys came for my head. I still maintain that stance, if onazi doesn't improve on his discipline, awareness, passing, tackles then, Esiti's move to PSG, would make him lose out on call ups because IMHO, Agu is already better. Onazi is all hustle no ball sense just as S. Moses is all dribbling no ball sense. Modified ; I would have called Rohr's astuteness into questioning but for the fact that no man is infallible and he has not really the shown his managerial ineptitude. Awaziem's debut shouldn't have come in a match of this magnitude( drill or no drill) with a whacky LB in Echiejile beside him and another CB who is still learning his thread, as his partner, what a baptism of fire. Awaziem showed glimpses of brilliance and would have done better with Balogun as his partner and a better LB. I tell u, lad is a very good ball playing CB. He was badly exposed by Elderson so u guys should cut him some slack. |
cromz:U still shooting urself in the foot. Though this debate isn't worth it, how many first team appearances did he make for the first team of Basel this past season and the season before and how many did Awaziem for Porto? U ain't got no facts(stats) to back up ur Thiago claim so I term it utter gibberish or in komekn's voice, prejudice. In that championship, Tiago can't dust Iorfa and adebajo's shoes, they are d guys u should be clamoring for not a below average Portuguese wanna be. About Nedum, no argument because u just made ur point which is emotion ridden. Giving him a call up reeks of desperation and mediocrity. Besides, he's past his prime and ain't Eagles worthy (both quality wise and his initial rejection of the team). |
cromz:Go home, u are drunk. U Contradicted ur academy claim with Akanji suggestion (though he's been capped by the swiss) Tiago Ilori? Are you for real? Do u even know how he has been faring ever since he left Sporting? Another academy player(at Liverpool) and now a bench warmer at Reading in the Championship. Nedum Onuoha? Experienced CB? What international football experience does Nedum have? BTW, have u ever seen Nedum suited up as a CB? Nedum is average at best and his position is RB. Nedum isn't as good as what we already have, besides he ditched us when he was a bit above average, I would rather we brought back Ambrose than give Nedum a call up, lest for remain patient till Aina's case is sorted out. We also have Nura in the pipeline. Ligali if throughly he is a Nigerian, check Ideye the hustler, check Aluko, check Ajagun? I would go for Azu Okechukwu instead. |
TheGoodJoe:Remember I said pushing forward when needed? But Sir, if Onazi can't shield, then he should give way for better shields(Agu my pick) because we can't afford to miss those attempts from Ndidi just because we wanna accommodate a certain Onazi. I read Agu doesn't join attacks more often unlike Onazi and he never jokes with his defensive responsibilities too. I had to check on his clips and I saw exactly what I earlier read. He displayed it against Corsica and Togo, he passes better and he's tidy with his tackles, hence, doesn't accumulate cards. He doesn't take no prisoners, same with Onazi though. He even had a better stat than Onazi this past season. He was second to no other Nigerian DMF than Ndidi, in Europe this past season. |
Sunnypa11:Hmmm Shehu up against Keagan Dolly, interesting. Shehu is pacy and skillful, he can cross the ball better than Musa and he's got guiles. From what I saw in Brazil, he also knows how to play the ball from defense. He ain't that awesome while defending but I think he can contain Dolly. Nice pick Onazi should be told to mind his defensive works while Ndidi who shoots better with more precision pushes forward(though only when need be). He should curb the rate at which he plays into our opponents' hand by easily getting drawn outta position. Well we've got a good cover in Agu. Omeruo hmmm I must say l'm scared with this guy starting. He can make mistakes to put us in danger anytime. I pray he disappoints us his doubters. I wish Balogun was around. Akpeyi seems the best choice at this stage though experience wise not merely because of his qualities. He is always jumpy, flaps at crosses and dives horribly like aiyenugba. He can make point black saves when least expected, at the same time, he can let in cheap goals, hence I call him a rope of sand. I'm not comfortable with him between the pipes but we ain't got better options. If Francis Ezoho manages to win a starting shirt next season at modest derpotivo lacoruna, I would be the first to clamor for his invite The front three plus etebo should scare the opponents and I pray they(iwobi, Acho, Musa and Etebo) all come to the party. Hopefully we have the Musa we saw against the Argies at the world cup, up against the Bananas. If we leading let say by 2 goals and above until the 70th minute, I would want the substitution to be ;Agu/Ogu for Iwobi, onyekuru for Musa to keep them on their toes and finally kayode for Acho, also to keep them on their toes. At this period, they would become vulnerable as they push for a goal hence leaving spaces behind. Our pacy dou of kayode and onyekuru can pounce by attacking those spaces with their pace. This is my 2cent |
Sunnypa11:Hmmm Shehu up against Keagan Dolly, interesting. |
kingphilip:To be sincere, fear dey catch me whenever I see Omeruo starting. Hopefully he proves a point against the Bananas and Rantie in particular because the last time they faced each other, Omeruo automatically became epileptic. He was hardly on his feet and he made a CR7 out of Rantie. |
Icon4s:Ur last paragraph, in Supernerd's voice, synergy. I was about writing something about that possible synergy and it's benefits to Eagles before u picked the idea right outta my head. |
The kinda news that gladdens GoodJoe's heart. Pick the man that performs better in camp. So much for drills... Rohr List Onyekuru, Mikel Agu & Kayode As Players Making It Hard For Him To Pick Starting XI Ahead of the Super Eagles game against South Africa coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has confessed that certain players are making it difficult for him to decide on a starting line up. Speaking at the pre match conference of the team witnessed by Owngoalnigeria.com Osas Mahawi, Rohr said the new players in his team are pushing the regulars for a spot in the starting line up. Rohr listed three players in particular who are making it hard for him to pick a starting line up ahead of Saturday’s game against South Africa in the race to be at the next cup of nations in 2019. “It will be very difficult to make a starting XI because we have many good young players now,” Rohr said. “The young players have brought a fresh spirit to the team and we must go forward and progress.Their integration is going very well. “We have a new defensive midfielder, Mikel Agu, who is doing very well as well as the strikers from Belgium (Henry Onyekuru) and Austria (Olanrewaju Kayode). They have been working hard.” |
kingphilip:I read it was a scare during drills, nothing serious. |
This onyekuru's prospective move away from eupen is getting so tediously protracted. Now the whole thing is taking a different dimension and Arsenal seem to be on the back foot as West ham emerges the favourite because his advisors want regular playing time. I would have loved him a gunner but whatever option that makes him a better player with Russia 2018 lurking behind. I just hope he doesn't make the wrong move. Kayode incures an injury in camp!!! |
OMANBALA1:Humm OK oo. Muazam we read, hit the ground running. I just hope moruf doesn't do an olatunbosun |
maidaboi:We ain't fighting bro. I can't condescend so low, neither can she. We just having a healthy discussion. But, like u said, back to sports. Give me ur preferred line up against the bananas. I also need ur prediction, a feasible one oo Cheers |
OMANBALA1:Ekele diri gi. Ya dikwara gi nma ka I si chere m |
OMANBALA1:Anyi anaghi alu ogu nwoke oma |
Seems moruf Yusuf ain't pulling it ooo, Rohr said he is still searching for options at the left back oo. Nawa |
safarigirl:Neither am I a GAYbriel so I no send Arochukwu guys. My roommate when I was a year1 student na Abam boy in Arochukwu local govt, he showed me pepper just bkus he was two years ahead of me, my gal in third year was an Atani gal and her character left much to be desired. She left me bkus I had no interest in clubbing, partying and smoking Marijuana and other inimical substances, she was damne pretty though. But these ugly experiences won't make me label the people of Arochukwu wicked and unserious. OK I saw clinician on ur pic, so I thought u were a student of optometry |
safarigirl:History will always remember the great Kingdom of Arochukwu and of course Ohafia the warriors but where are those two today compared to Ngwa land? Not every ngwa man is short, BTW, their women boast of the finest skin tone in Sub-Saharan Africa. U can mistake an extremely light skinned Ngwan for a mulato. Ngwa get light skinned women like helele. Bia u b opto student? Did u attend the last NOSA conference at UNIBEN? If u did then, perhaps... |
Icon4s:A bughi m onye ngwa mana otu nwada ahu siri dobe oluokwu ya adighi nma. Igbo muru nze, muo ozo kwuru si na-obughi soso onye nwuru anwu ka a na-edozi olu, n'ihi nkea, m si ka m dozie ya olu. safarigirl:Anything wrong with being an Ngwan? Gini ka chukwu juru? Early isiala Ngwan's were cannibals, so also were other places round Africa, South Emerica, Asia etc. Ngwa has moved on. The kingdom of Arochukwu down to Ohafia (the warriors) were notorious for the human head ikperikpe ogu and ekpe dance back then also. Gini exactly ka chukwu juru when Arochukwu wasn't any different from Ngwa? I dun tire for this stereotype about the great people of Ngwa biko. Make we talk sports maka mmadu ikpasu ibe ya iwe. |
tbaba1234:Yea but they are no longer as strong... Compare that midfield composition with the era when Essien, KPB, Muntari held sway. Take a look at their defense, nothing to write home about. To imagine that they still depend on an old guard like Gyan for goals sums up the miserable condition they are in, presently. Gyan isn't it anymore and Jordan Ayew just doesn't measure up. The few big(though average at best) names but Andre Ayew u see on that list, are bunch of chronic bench warmers in their respective club sides. The Parteys, Armateys and Acquahs of this world. The only guy(K. Asamoah) who would have been an exception has been as unlucky as our own Joel Obi with injuries. Seriously, Ghana is feeling the heat |
I came across the squad list of our *bredas* from the former Gold Coast, I couldn't help but feel pity for them. They really are passing through a rough patch presently. They badly are in dearth of super talents unlike their West African neighbors like ; Senegal, Nigeria, Cote d'ivore et al. Ghana squad Goalkeepers: Richard Ofori (Wa Allstars); Adam Kwarasey (Brondby, Denmark); Felix Annan (Kotoko); Joseph Addo (Aduana Stars) Defenders: Harrison Afful (Columbus Crew, USA); Daniel Amartey (Leicester City, England); Lumor Agbenyenu (Munich 1860, Germany); Daniel Darkwah (Aduana Stars, Ghana); John Boye (Sivasspor, Turkey); Rashid Sumalia (Al Gharafa, Qatar); Nicholas Opoku (B.Chelsea, Ghana); Jonathan Mensah (Columbus Crew, USA); Jerry Akaminko (Eskiserhispor, Turkey); Samuel Sarfo (Liberty, Ghana) Midfielders: Mohammed Abu (Columbus Crew, USA); Afriyie Acquah (Torino, Italy); Isaac Sackey (Alanyaspor, Turkey); Thomas Partey (Atletico Madrid, Spain); Ebenezer Ofori (Stuttgart, Germany); Kingsley Sarfo (Sirius, Sweden); Winful Cobbinah (Hearts of Oak); Yaw Yeboah (FC Twente, Holland); Godsway Donyoh (Nordjaelland, Denmark); Andre Ayew (West Ham, England); Frank Acheampong (Anderlecht, Belgium); Thomas Agyepong (NAC Breda, Holland) Forwards: Asamoah Gyan (Al Alhi, UAE); Jordan Ayew (Swansea City, England); Majeed Waris (Lorient FC, France); Raphael Dwamena (FC Zurich, Switzerland) |
Sir forgiveness, how come u couldn't broker a better deal for Abdul Ajagun? While others are stepping up, he is headed for a small team in Lokeren. If Azubike's move to either Monaco or Besiktas comes to fruition, with Mathews imminent move to Anderletch (Belgium's biggest club) this transfer window, then ur boy would be on a long thing. Modified ; I think Onazi should find a way outta Turkey or better yet, make a move to a bigger club(in the mould of Besiktas, Galatasaray, Fener) because the competition might make him a victim of this looming stampede. I said this because in Nigeria, we respect clubs more than the talent in clubs. If Esiti (poor man's wanyama), moves to PSG hmm...I doubt Onazi would still be getting invites playing for Trabzonspor |
Nigerian's already overcrowded midfield keeps getting interesting by the day. I never gave up on Ify even when he was with Kano pillars Exclusive – Anderlecht Close To Reaching Agreement With Lillestrom For Ifeanyi Matthew Highly rated former Nigeria youth international Ifeanyi Matthew could join the bandwagon of Nigerian players moving to Belgium with Anderlecht locked in talks over him. The Belgium side are in the market for a replacement for Youri Tielemans who left the club for Monaco at the start of the summer transfer window. Matthew was recommended to the club, and after studying clips of his games for Norwegian side Lillestrom, the club have tabled an offer according to a source close to the player’s agent. ” Anderlecht are presently the front runners for his signature although there are other teams interested in him. I think Club Brugge as well but am not sure “, he told Owngoalnigeria.com. ” Matthew has done well for Lillestrom, so it’s not a surprise that he is set for such a move after a year in Norway. We wait still but talks are progressing nicely”. Daniel Martins |
While others were fighting their ways into reckoning, igiebor and his likes were busy blabbing Exclusive – PSG Open Transfer Talks With Gent Over Out Of Favour Eagles Ace Anderson Esiti Anderson Esiti is in line for a big move away from Belgium side Gent with French giants PSG currently holding talks over his transfer. Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that talks are already on regarding his possible transfer with Gent willing to let the midfielder nicknamed the beast leave this summer. Esiti joined Gent last summer for €1.5m from Portuguese side Estoril, but the club have a 15% sell on clause in the deal that took him to the Belgium side, which means they are also entitled to a chunk of his transfer fee if he moves to PSG. Already Gent has quoted €20m as his price tag to PSG, who are now looking for ways to beat the price down a bit, as the player is high on the summer transfer wishlist of coach Unai Emery. The 23 year old has fallen out of favour with the national team selectors of Nigeria, and despite his fine form for Gent in the recently concluded season, he still wasn’t considered for the training camp in France, and the game against South Africa this weekend. |
nelszx:That was a typo from smart phone autocorrect. Thanks all the same. What's ur take on that match? |
Maybe a few people think through this line with me, but I think it is worth the mention. To the powers that be, the bigwigs in here, I direct this question, please why don't we read of NFF's push to cap Manuel Akanji as much as we read of their pushes for other guys his age? I have seen him play severally and from my own standards, he is okay. He just won his place as a starter with Basel and I think we should have arms round his neck as we do Awaziem now because we don't have that much options at the back and Balogun ain't getting any younger. The boy doesn't hide his Nigerian heritage, evident is the presence of Nigerian flag on his instagram handle (I guess). He might love the prospect of playing with this young, vibrant Eagles team. They(Awaziem and Akanji) wouldn't make bad partners *future wise* in eagle's defense if we got him in the fold. |
