Realmrsean: Nwabali is the new 🆕 number 1
Uzoho should fasten his seat belt because his bench is gonna be a long one If he doesn't improve he might even find himself out of the team with Maduka as Udinese's number 1 now and Arthur Okonkwo on the way. |

Orban's move to a top club like Lyon is worth celebrating but Lyon is really in a bad situation now in the Ligue1. I hope he helps to keep them afloat, and that things don't turn out the way it did for Onuachu when he made same January move to that struggling Southampton. I wish Durosimi's move didn't collapse. |

typicalgamer: Don’t you dare say anything about my mindset
My point is you and i have no influence over there it’s their mindset that’ll define if the generation is a flop or not
But one thing is certain you can’t do anything about it as a fan so we both should rest
Enter the field if you think that’s your role
Teach peseiro if you think that’s your role
Our role is to spectate, cheer and jest nothing more
I don’t know where mindset comes into play in this How does this correlate with the post I quoted? |

typicalgamer: Oga even if this generation no pass group stage for the next 3 afcon nothing go happen
2016 to 2022 Belgium 🇧🇪 golden generation didn’t achieve anything
They were rated number 1 team for almost 6 years straight without actually winning anything Now everybody don old sky no fall
Na Nigeria when nobody aside it’s fans send na world won take end I hope this doesn’t define your mindset as a person. More like “since Tolu failed in life, it is no big deal if I(Emeka) also fail in life” Oga, Belgium is Belgium. We are Nigeria!!!!! |

Curtisaxel10: They are unable to pronounce Arabic names correctly due to their mother-tongue interference (Yoruba or Hausa).
So, they Yorubanize or Hausanize the names for easy pronunciation.
I'm Igbo. Igbo Christians also "Igbonize" difficult Christian names. For example, some pronounce "Peter" as "Pita", "Mary" as "Mmeri", "Sylvester" as "Silivesta", "David" as "De-veed", etc.
But unlike the Muslims who chose to spell their names the way they pronounce it (with the mother-tongue interference and all), Christians retain the European spellings even when they can't pronounce the names like the Europeans would. Thanks retired great lion. |

Mujtahida: It's just common for people to localize names and give it indigenous flavor. Note that the Arabs too arabicized Jewish names - Solomon is suleiman, Abraham is Ibrahim, Moses is Musa, Joseph is Yusuf. Isaac is Isah etc. Notice how O is converted to U. So our people add U at the end of Arabic names due to the aural nature of African languages.
Many English words are derived from Arabic too. Words alkali, Algebra, alcohol, ghoul, assassin, Cotton, lemon, alcove
For instance my people localized Zainab to Jenabu cos we pronounce Z as J and we pronounce the English word school as shikulu. So language is like that. I understand Wike is Nwike. You finished work here. Thanks bro. Yea Wike, Woke, Worie etc are actually Nwike, Nwoke and Nworie. |

There is something I have been meaning to ask. Elyte and our other Muslim brothers please educate me. Why do Africans, especially West Africans spell Arabic names differently from their original Arabic spellings?
Kalidu instead of the sweet sounding Kalid.
Saidu instead of Saeed.
Umaru instead of Umar
Bashiru instead of Bashir
Aishatu instead of Aisha etc
Abeg help me with simple explanation or reason as to why we spell and pronounce these names differently? Even Mohamed in West Africa is Mohammadu. Why do we always add that "u" |
