Pained much grin grin grin

When you jokers celebrate Lupita you don't talk about her selling her soul to the Hollywood establishment.

Keep crying.

Saddamochieng00:
This is actually funny. You guys seriously think any of your artist are making it big out there because of their talent. There are far more talented artists all over Africa only that they didn't sell their souls to Universal, Sony or Warner Music.

Even Davido with all his father's wealth had to suck whiteman's dick just to get a deal with Sony. Otherwise his music wasn't going anywhere.

In fact I can't think of one of your artist who made it globally without selling out to either of these three labels

Chief in an ideal world everything you wrote is valid but sometimes reality is way different to what you expected.

Nigeria is bigger than Osimhen and should be able to cope without him if for any reason he's unavailable but in football we all know that certain players being present in your team boosts the probability of your team winning on the day.

I don't need a soothsayer to tell me that Argentina and Barcelona before Messi's recent transfer will struggle to win games without the little magician. Likewise Salah for Egypt, Ronaldo for Portugal or Bruno Fernandez with Man U.

I'm happy you used the example of the away match against Benin. Remember it was Victor's attempt that rebounded for Onuachu to score. Osimhen constant pressure and harassment of the Benin defence contributed in no small measure to our victory that day. Emphirical evidence has also shown that with Osimhen we will most likely win so it makes no sense to leave out your biggest chance of victory when he's available.

Other players can also step up even when Victor is on the pitch. As a player won't you be inspired to perform when you have a great player alongside you? So bro for the upcoming games of this magnitude we can ill afford to be without Osimhen especially since our more experienced hands like Iwobi, Ndidi and Iheanacho will be missing the trip to Cape Verde.

TheLoneCitizen:
Very important points here, brother, but I think you need to put this into perspective.

Osimhen is just one player here, and the possibility of a nation like Nigeria defeating minnows like Cape Verde shouldn't rest on the shoulders of one player.

He is undoubtedly our most productive player, but Osimhen was present the full 90 when we couldn't break down Benin (similar opponent with Verde) at their fortress, and required a last minute Onuachu winner.

This shows that tactical prowess of the coach, not individual brilliance is the key to unlocking opponents.

Therefore if Nigeria suddenly becomes toothless in the absence of a single player, they have no business at the World Cup. Denmark going the distance without Eriksen is testament to this, as the coach tweaked their formation to suit the team.

Secondly, no African country has the striking depth that Nigeria enjoys. For goodness sake, Onuachu was one of the world's highest goal scorers last season, while Terem Moffi, Simy and Umar Sadiq entered double figures in three different championships.

Is it until Osimhen is injured, that you work out a Plan B?

Thirdly, not inviting Osimhen for this does him more good than harm. The player is yet to settle in the Serie A yet, and can't risk adding an injury or covid-19 infection/isolation to his ban.

In the end, I admit that three games is a lot for a player of Osimhen's quality to miss, especially if the English based and Chukwueze aren't around.

But please, it should be a shame that at the brink of our golden generation, we are overly reliant on one player to get past lowly teams.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 12:23pm On Aug 25, 2021
Sorry bro but that is arrogant talk. Any team can't be any other team on a good day. Lessons from 2006 qualifiers when we thought 'ordinary Angola' would be a walkover thought us a bitter lesson. Cape Verde is very strong at home. In the past they have dealt with Cameroon and Tunisia so they are no easy flakes.

TheLoneCitizen:
This is WC qualifiers alright, but not against Ivory Coast or South Africa. This is against Cape Verde and Liberia.

If an Osimhen-less Nigeria cannot get the job done against countries who combined have just one player in Europe's top five leagues, then that Nigeria doesn't deserve to make it to the biggest sports competition in history.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 11:12am On Aug 25, 2021
Eh bros on the bold hope you know this is WC qualification we are talking about? We need all our best legs. Onyekuru should also come because of the injury worries we have to Simon and Kalu so we are a bit thin. Agree with the rest of your submission.

TheLoneCitizen:
Players that shouldn't be invited for this round.

Bonke Innocent - Not ready yet.

Henry Onyekuru - Too few minutes. New club. No preseason.

Victor Osimhen - Needs to settle down. Club needs him more.

Kelechi Nwakali - Still unproven and undeserved. More potential than quality. Invite sends wrong message.

Amoo - Not ready yet for top level football.

Onyedika - Still too raw. Needs to improve.

Players that deserve an invite

Ejuke - Just invite him.

Nwobodo - Consistent player.

Alhassan Yusuf - Consistent and proven quality.

My sef I tire. If KC had been awful in the last few competitive games for Leicester City I would have understood but C'mon! benching your most in form striker for guys who are not exactly prolific themselves doesn't make sense.

Won't be surprised if he decides to still bench Iheanacho on saturday.

oloriooko:
What on earth is wrong with Brenda Rogers angry angry
Benching Nacho for Perez?
Nacho has to look for loan elsewhere seem Rogers has no regards for his talent in that team
Benching a guy that scored 17 goals in his last 22 games, won the community shield for Leicester!
Kel needs a loan out, he doesn't deserve this snub from Rogers

I will keep saying Ndidi has peaked in Leicester playing with below average team, he needs a new challenge to raise his game and improve his all round play

Well Osimhen has learnt the hard way that Serie is not Ligue 1 or UCL where you will get away with such fouls.

Well from a selfish point of view at least he will be fresh for our upcoming world cup qualifiers

3 match ban for violent conduct.

If shoving while challenging for a ball during a set piece is a red, then Chiellini and Bonucci should have unlimited match bans and suspensions by now. I'm very sure senior players like Ronaldo or even Insigne would not receive the same treatment if they were in the same situation.

Yes you are right read somewhere that the lady got a scholarship to Baylor. The guy is American born. What impresses me about him is even though he's just 18 he's already run 20.13! (unfortunately it wasn't officially recognized due to excess wind). Even the 20.21 he ran in the final is quite fast for someone his age. Hopefully the glory days of athletics in Nigeria is back.

Was going to ignore but just have to comment.

Two of these 3 ''junk'' players have been with the national team before Rohr arrived to coach the SE some from where to where were they forced on him? Musa has done more than his part in the national team just to be referred flippantly as junk. Yes he has probably overstayed his time with the SE but is his situation any different from the likes of Keshi, Kanu and Yobo that we are insulting him like this? Let's respect the man small.

Shehu has tried in the past I also think his time in the national team is up but also calling him junk is unfair considering his huge contributions during the qualifiers for the 2018 WC.

As for Iwuala every watching of the NPFL consider him one of the best if not the best in the league. Plus he's a young man still learning his trade so I don't really understand the vexation of the writer.

maidaboi:
How can any sane coach who regularly parades junks
like Shehu Abdullahi, Ahmed Musa, Anayo Iwuala, and
a Basketball player who cannot keep up with the pace

above players.

What has he done to make you know that he is a forward?
some people will say I'm hating on Etebo but he was really poor today. couldn't shield his defense, was off the pace, didn't see him try to advance with the ball even once honestly this was a beyond average display from him.

Dennis nothing too special but he was a nuisance to the opposition. With decent supply he could get a decent amount of goals for the hornets.

Ekong for me had the best game of the trio despite his mistake leading to the goal. below average ball distribution but mostly solid.

there is where you all gets it wrong when ever I jump into Nwakali's case.

Bro to be honest Nwakali is yet to do anything tangible to be mentioned as an option in our midfield positions. He improved a whole lot last season in laliga 2 alcoron but is that enough to deserve a mention? Dude to me down the pecking order in our midfield option. He is no where close the below mentioned options we can boast of in the middle of the park

Wildred ndidi
Etebo peter
Joe aribo
Frank onyeka
Alhassan yusuf
Alex iwobi

Also we have an ex u20 midfielder balling well in Belgium with gent and raphael nwadike who was promoted by Midtjylland to replace onyeka already doing decently well for the Danish champions and in UCL qualifiers so far

Then in a scenario where the the likes of olise and Ugochukwu re cleared to play for us the competition becomes more stiff for him.

I am not writing him off completely but he has to work on his progress last season to deserve a mention if possible make the leap to the Spanish top flight with Huesca.

I share your sentiment. An in-form fit Mikel would really have propelled us.

Also agree about the bold Rohr has no excuse not to really try and deliver the trophy.

fabyom:
What's so special about the Algerian team? They only won through an own goal and a last minute freekick.
Kalu and Mikel unavailability really affected us.
Also Ighalo was our only experience striker in that team.
Now we have all the needed arsenal in every department! No excuse will be tolerated from Rohr this time!
