Too many kids here same Falcons that is the only African team to make the quarter finals of an Olympic tournament won't have done better than Zambia smh ![]() dozai: |
Had goose bumps watching especially towards the end when they reviewed his last world cup with Brazil. True GOAT Truidstar: |
andrew444:You this troublesome Guy so today is your birthday many happy returns of the day boss wish you many years of good health and success. You will live to see your children and grandchildren declare that Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest of all time ![]() Have a swell day |
Any Netflix buffs here? Try and watch Pele the documentary you won't regret it. |
hmmm my guy wetin man go do. Though hypothetical I'm reasonably certain the likes of Chukwueze, Amoo, Maduka etc would have used the olympics to really announce themselves on a global stage. This competition too would have been perfect for Nwakali but hey no use crying over spilt milk. Hope D'Tigers and D'Tigeress can do well until the athletics starts. andrew444: |
L you have already eaten and digested? guy carry your wahala go ![]() forgiveness: |
Till today you still refuse to take your own advice well that's your bowl of ogi to worry about. back to football ![]() forgiveness: |
You are still refusing to humble yourself and receive correction. Nigeria is above government. Government gets legitimacy from the people. Gaddafi was Libya people with external support kicked him out Libya is still existing. Somalia that doesn't have a central government how do their athletes participate in sports na under somalia government wey no dey function? sometimes calm down and reason. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somalia_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics When Nigeria withdrew from the Olympics it was a joint African decision which the athletes understood because it was a political decision on their behalf by the Nigerian people against apartheid. 1996 when government was solely funding our football is the example you are bringing up? When GEJ withdrew Nigeria in 2010 from international competition what happened? NFF according to FIFA is separate from government of Nigeria so what are you on about? https://www.espn.com/soccer/nigeria/story/3136700/nigeria-senate-passes-regulation-on-nff forgiveness: |
Na true sha JohnBullMySon: |
You have been educated that government is under the Nigerian state same as sport national teams. Governments change it can be democracy tomorrow, dictatorship the next or monarchy the following week but the state always remains. It's the Nigerian state represented by the Nigerian people that give government legitimacy. You need to come out of this old military mind set that your loyalty is to however happens to be president or governor at any given time. Your loyalty is to the Nigerian people who have given authority to the president to execute the constitution on their behalf. forgiveness: |
hmm would be a step down for me plus I don't know how well a move to the EPL would suit his playing style. andrew444: |
Then why do you keep insisting the players can be the focus of a protester because according to you they represent government? forgiveness: |
They are representing Nigeria which comprises not just the presidency but all 36 states and 774 local governments. They are not doing anything in the name of Buhari and APC. What the man in the video was ranting about is the policy of the buhari government not Nigeria as a whole period. forgiveness: |
QED! Don't use our dear teams for any political agenda. If you also sincerely feel watching or supporting the Falcons or Super Eagles somehow translates to backing a regime you are free to give this thread a wide berth. JohnBullMySon: |
I still insist the man didn't make any point he just wanted to gain cheap publicity which he has succeeded in doing for himself. As bad as things are we still have and operate a democratic process to get things moving in the right direction. If at the height of Abacha's reign when people were being killed and jailed, when media houses were being closed, when you couldn't publicly disagree with the government not to talk of abusing them brave men and women were still able to effect change then there's no reason you should feel hopeless now when we have so many means to change things for the better. If the man truly cared about the situation back home he would protest at the Nigerian embassy, lobby his senator, his house of rep, his local government chairman join civil society groups to demand better governance not this cheap and hurtful bullying of young women who have committed no offense except play the game they love, rep their country and provide for their loved ones. African Americans still have it tough in the US today but I don't see random Black Lives matters members walking up to Kevin Durant or any African American athlete for that matter to rant and rave about the state of the nation as they are the ones you elected to be president and governor. TheGoodJoe: |
TheGoodJoe:honestly if that's how you really feel then you should do it since you feel that's the best way to register your displeasure. For me I feel there are other ways to change bad governance |
TheGoodJoe:My Guy it's very simple stop coming here to contribute 2 topics about the super Eagles. Wait until buhari stops being president after all the super Eagles represent his government that's the best way to show your displeasure and that everything is not well. |
TheGoodJoe:please the man is a coward he knows who to talk to 2 table his grievances. He will now go home and be forming activist. So so what do you want the girls to do start abusing buhari on camera? Please let's be realistic. Even Megan rapinoe as much as she detested Trump didn't use the American national team to start making political statements even though the government at the time did many things they didn't support. Buhari will come and go Nigeria at least for the foreseeable future will remain the same way abacha and so many others came and went. |
fabyom:ok but then again is it any random person that comes that says he wants to address you you will just allow like that? I would understand if he was some VIP but a random stranger? The officials should have done better. Anyway what has happened has happened they should just learn from the experience and better secure the ladies next time. |
TheGoodJoe:you keep saying pretending all is well how have the girls display that? By showing up to play football and enjoy each other's company? |
TheGoodJoe:he's not educating anything or anybody. If you wants to exact real change he should go to the Nigerian embassy lodges his complaint or protest not be forming voltron against innocent women. Like some people have educated you Nigeria has had bad governance for so long so using an excuse of today's bad governance won't fly. People like Gani fawehinmi during the days of abacha didn't harass our sportsmen but directed his energy through the right quarters to try and change the status quo. Like somebody rightly said if you insist that you represent this government please throw away your passport and refuse to go anywhere under the name Nigeria after all you are representing buhari and his government |
fabyom:My Guy it's not about how easy or difficult it is to run an organisation I'm just saying the girls ought to have been protected better from that disturbed individual. The male footballers I'm sure go around with better security how much more our female players who even need it more. Just all I was highlighting |
TheGoodJoe:The Goodjoe I'm really surprised you are defending that man's unruly behavior against the ladies. The SF are reppin NIGERIA. Not buhari not APC not Atiku not PDP. These ladies have not made any political statement in any way shape or form supporting this govt so was the cowardly action of targeting them. Does the man know whether some of the girls even voted against PMB in the last election? No what is wrong is wrong. Tons of our footballers especially the male ones take pictures with this same bad politicians but I don't see anyone going to harass them but when it's the women who are minding their business and playing football for the nation everyone suddenly remembers things in the country are bad please! Buhari will be gone in the next two years so until he goes let's stop Nigeria from participating in international competitions like world cups and Olympic tournaments. Maybe that will stop terrorism, provide electricity and end kidnapping not voting right leaders, holding elected(selected?) officials to account and doing your own Little bit to improve the country. if Nigerian sportsmen and women were not harassed during the horrible days of the Abacha dictatorship then nobody should justify innocent players getting disturbed by people who don't know where to Channel their grievances. This is why they say politics and sports should never mix. |
Demanding for better treatment for the ladies is me being unsatisfied? If the man that harrassed them had done them physical harm would you still be saying this? Stop being satisfied with the barest minimum in the name of "he's trying" do4luv14: |
Why were the ladies using public transport and not a team bus? why wasn't there adequate security to at least prevent the guy getting close to the players? Buhari is not the first poor president we have had. The guy is just mentally disturbed to be taking out his frustrations on women who just want to play football and bring joy to many mentally scarred Nigerians do4luv14: |
Pinnick keeps treating our women's team with no regard. Just watched a disturbing video of a disgruntled and frustrated Nigerian abusing and harrassing some SF players being conveyed on a bus in Austria. How they allowed someone to get close to them without any security is a real shame. From the look of the video it seems they were using public transport SMH! ![]() |
From the report I read Liverpool will take 10% of any future sale. Not a bad piece of business on the Reds part considering that they bought Taiwo for 300,000 pounds. Danielnino00: |
Competition in the sense that some one will keep Wilfred on his toes not that anyone is up to his level yet as per DM position in the SE. andrew444: |
As in. Let's see what the German Onigbinde will next use as an excuse with the availability of Alhassan Yusuf and Frank Onyeka. Ndidi should now finally have some decent competition. jihday: |
Yeah just reading about it now. Happy for him finally has a permanent home. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/07/20/liverpool-bank-17m-sale-marko-grujic-taiwo-awoniyi/?utm_content=sport&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1626775236 Subzero047: |
