Seun, Mynd44, Lalasticlala, i greet you guys
We really need to create awareness of climate change here too, many Nairalanders, surprisingly don't understand what it is all about and the dangerous implications.
Take this post to our house hall of fame, abeg. Is a serious matter |
Nairaland General › Seminar Presentation; An Awakening Incident With My Foreign Lecturer by Chriswazo(op): 9:58am On Oct 26, 2019 |
I was shown this survey in class on Thursday, I had said I will post it here cos I know many are oblivious of this like I was. Is it strange that Abịa 2 most populous cities are listed there. The only state with her capital and economic city listed. My lecturer went far to pointing me to please tell the whole class about how it is there and how we really cope with that, (apparently I was the only black or African there and we had done introduction of ourselves before commencement of the seminar/lecture). Imagine me, I was stupefied beyond measure, I just told them, "while is true we have air pollution as a serious concern in Nigeria and the rest of the world, I really believe that this report or survey by the WHO is exaggerated as regards the reality of Onitsha, I lived in Aba and had also stayed in Onitsha too, so I find it hard to believe that the city is the most air polluted in the whole world". Don't mind me, where else have I been to aside here, lol. i should defend my country and keep the truth inside, so i was taught. He was bemused by my doubts of the survey in his slide presentation and directed me, to channel my grievance to the scientist of WHO and they laughed over it. But that is not even my problem, not even the WHO survey, but the plight of the citizenry especially the Onitsha, Abịa State residents. Is it that the Government of Nigeria and these respective states don't know and understand the lethality of this bad development. Let say they are not saying the whole truth or so and always mischievous about their Africa surveys and so on, but com' on is yet very alarming. I don't know how Willie Obiano and Okezie Ikpeazụ sleeps seeing this kind report and just does nothing over it, probably laughs over it. I was totally discomposed for the rest of the seminar after seeing that survey, I only picked his addendum on the survey, he remarked " Actually, that city Onitsha according to the report has gone 10 times worsened than the acceptable managing limits". Haaaa! This got me gasp for air, like I felt unconscious for a while. I just turned off to everything he was saying afterwards, brought out my phone and searched on goggle "20 worst cities with air pollution", mehn the results silenced me. This is for real, I said to myself. Thoughts were just flying in my head up and down like, why is climate matters not really discussed as an important issue in that entity seeing it is about the worst in that realm?, why is the president and governors not making noise about this. I listened to imra Khan (Pakistan president) speech at the just concluded 74th session of the United Nations general assembly and became awoke to the seriousness of Climate change impacts, he buttressed well how it has really affected the nation of Pakistan, the melting of the glaciers etc. You could feel his heart and burden for this serious issue with that emotional but sensible address. I listened to other world leaders really emphasize on the need for us to awake to the soaring levels of Climate change and its dangers. By the way, I also listened to President Buhari and the way he passed his own climate message concern. I understand the issue has not been in the wonderful addresses or policies but bold steps to implement the articulated policies. I read that (a) about 10% of the world population which is nearly 1.1 billion people in the world are poor. While for Europe and Central Asia, they are doing better with recent data, Sub-Sahara Africa is having over 55% of the world poorest and is seeing an exponential increase instead of decline. This is a serious issue too. In fact, the World bank projects that by 2030, 9 out of 10 Sub-Sahara Africans will be poor . I think this is another barrier we have for our low performance in climate change concerns. There are political and economical angles to the myriads of Africa/Nigeria climate plagues, I do understand these facets, but I also think we as citizens of Nigeria, our governments should rise up to this current global trend and join the world in enacting the solutions now. Let's not argue, "we are third world countries, so will always wait for the developed countries to fight theirs finish and then come and start doing charity etc to help us fight ours, because the truth is that the effects of these worsening changes are transboundary and also transgenerational. If we care to do nothing about it, not only do we suffer about it, our lovely children will have to bear the burnt of our callousness. I go out the streets of Berlin on Fridays, you see 10 thousand people on the street marching and creating awareness, open the news Network, you see same for other cities in Germany, even millions of people in Hamburg etc. Go to Canada, Australia, Russia, Uk, France, USA, infact countries in the West are awoke to climate change dangers and it has swept through their business policies (control of plastic packages and resources waste reduction, prohibition of chemicals and toxic substances, Renewable energy adoption, planting of trees and biodiversity preservation, Preservation of lands etc) and down to one that really amazes me, their political sector, everywhere is now political parties with more affinity for environment that are taking the block votes in these places, like the Green party in EU, etc. Voters are now very concerned about party manifestos in Environment to decide who to vote, it was also a strong factor in the recent election of Canada, India etc. It arouses my interest when I see kids that are already climate activist in their countries like the Greta Thunberg of Sweden and many more of them mobilize rallies to call their government's awareness to their fears of the deteriorating climates of their area. If our fathers have failed us as it relates to protecting our environment, we shouldn't return it to our kids. I don't know for you, am really concerned about this hence, my long epistle. I acknowledge that Nigeria is hard etc, so it disrupts our common sense and makes us nonchalant about pertinent issues while more on trivial, matters, like Tacha, Chioma Davido etc, Kai but this is a sensitive and serious issue. We shouldn't downplay the effects it has on us as a people. Things like the increase in temperature, intensity of natural disasters like flooding etc, sea rises are real demonstrations of our changing climate, which if we do the right things required for us as a people and government and citizens, (I have pointed out the solutions also in this post) will go a long way mitigating the effects we are seeing. So as we are busy searching and drilling for more crude oil when the world is going to renewable energy to reduce green house emissions and as we destroy our natural vegetation to build houses recklessly, when others are beginning to plant trees and maintaining the 30% quota for vegetation remember, there's no healthy and prosperous nation if the environment and ecosystem is not healthy and balanced. #fridaysforfuture (a)- https://www.worldbank.org/en/topic/poverty/overview

ladymarshall: Vielen Dank! Vielen Dank! Bros you sabi this thing! I tell some here that I’m now a Canadian PR and they’re so shocked, like just like that? One even asked me if I married a Canadian to get it he think say na Deutschland Unfortunately, most are not motivated to do EE. The country has a way of making some believe in false promises of stability because of their strong external economic reputation, when in reality, the struggle internally can be hellish because of Ausländer Behörde. You will see those who suffered many years just to get PR saying “stay here” “stay here” as if they will help you when your suffer reach one international student even told me “Germany has better welfare benefits” I told her “are you benefiting the benefits? stay there dey defend country wey no send you?“ Of course we go still hustle for Canny, no easy way or shortcut but it’s preferable in a more familiar language, a territory that celebrates diversity and a land that respect the blacks a bit better.
I join you in prayers o. You will get PPR and come to Canny soon, please don’t listen to naysayers, let’s keep in touch. Wow, lol I tell u, is really amazing to just hear I have a CA pr from the blues, is really mind boggling considering how we subject ourselves to get up to that point to apply here. I go to the Ausländerbehörde, I see people carrying woman up and down, black girls or so with guys that came to aid their process, obviously, Germans. I ask myself, "will I ever get to this point just to save myself from the fear of Ausländerbehörde", is really scary. I even had to get their tinder app but my heart is not there, so I don't follow the nonsense, think I have deleted them. Some of my brothers are used by these old women who wants to feel young and satisfied, not that they care about their paper quest etc, maybe give them bread after pouring up and down. Everyone going from MSc to MSc to PhD, PhD people don plenty o, like say na moi moi, aaah aaah! Na so we like books? No, it all boils down to one thing. For me, I like this kind of fear, cos it gives me an edge of security knowing the situation I have found myself in and the range of options to utilize. I tell you, when I read your PR testimony, I feared I had made mistake with registering just 3 modules and wanted to change my module application for this winter but the time is passed, but I will start doing that from summer. The lady that showed me the way to Germany has left to for Canada even after getting her admission to PhD, she picked the Canada option, since then I have developed a keen interest in CA and has been following you up and down here for info etc I think everything you wrote there is the plain truth and I can relate to them. The whole preaching about Germany economy etc, which is true but not the nitty gritty of the matter. You first of all have to really belong before you open mouth to talk about how good they are, I think in economy only. Canada has her pros too which you quite listed, the very pertinent areas that is really weighty. Thank you very much for the prayers and assistance offered. i have your email address, will get to you should I need more clarity etc going forward. Thank you, congrats on the success once again. Be careful of associations u surround with.
Never forget this pertinent question, rehearse it every morning
"What do I want"?
U will see hopeless men here too that all the want is just money to go and settle in Nigeria or white toto to Bleep.
I have found out that everybody in this Germany is just serious and on a mission, just watch out that u do not be surrounded with folks of dissimilar goals.
Someone I met told me he just needs money to go home and enter Nigeria politics and another is after money to go and settle in Nigeria and do business.
They have goals and are serious about it, so it reflects in their philosophy of staying in Germany.
But there are people u will get here, mehn ur heart and soul will always be on fire.
The 10 years allowed for studies is okay to settle u, if u know what u want. Time keeps ticking and waits for no one.
Get people like Immafrank etc around u here, u know God really love and blesses u. U won't understand. Information is power anywhere even in Germany, so I can decide to shelve a valuable info and in my small mind, I am powerful, is true but partly cos....... So when u see someone that gives u info of everything he knows and would bless u at no cost, u understand that person has a greater spirit and I no want write epistle abeg

sassy92: Dear All, It's been a while and I missed you all!! Let me first start by saying that I apologise for all the negativity my actions caused on the thread last week. I'm deeply sorry. As the admin rightly said, buying/sourcing for SL is illegal and a fraudulent act, one I've never engaged in. However, my post to @horladayour1 portrayed such. This would have created a platform for innocent people on this thread to be scammed by fraudsters. I believe this was what the admin was trying to avoid and that's why he banned me. As moderator of this thread, @Justwise has worked tirelessly to prevent fraud of any kind here. His efforts should be commended. Thank you @Justwise for all that you do here. And thank you for reducing the ban. I can assure you that I won't repeat the mistake again. I was touched by the number of people that spoke in my defense and the number of people who reached out to me privately. It really warmed my heart and restored my faith in humanity. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. My prayer for you is that on the day you need help/defence/support/encouragement, may you find it in abundance in Jesus name. This thread has become family to me. And no matter what happens, you never give up on family. So I'll always be here to offer help in any way I can. It's good to be back!! I wish us all success in our various endeavours. Peace and Love, everyone. Madam do fast and come in here "Du belong here wirklich" lol |

Immafrank: SOME USEFUL TIPS If you are having doubts about maybe the embassy saw/read your sent e-mails or not in instances like- sending of confirmation of BA, making inquiries concerning visa delay or other inquiries at alien offices of your intended cities. You can use google mailtrack to track your e-mails (Gmail users only), whenever the embassy or any individual read your emails, it will show a double tick and number of times your email was read and a single tick if it has not been read (you get notification for this, you can disable if you want to).
http://help.mailtrack.io/customer/en/portal/articles/1385608-installing-mailtrack
That is the link to setup google mail track on PC. Note that you have to install google chrome on PC and send the email (gmail) from google chrome but you can check with mobile after sending if it has been read. There are also android mobile set up which i am not very conversant with but for iPhone users, simply download Track - Email Tracking (the app icon is a green capital T ), install and follow up instructions. you can send messages to your friends to test it.
Futhermore, for people coming this winter, Buy Jeans in 9ja, there are some good stores in 9ja with good thick jeans, One low quality jean is 29 euros up here, except you are OBO. Budget about 50-100 euros for good and warm winter jacket, I believe the one you are bringing here is just for warm up, when real cold sets in, Omo nobody will tell you to buy correct one lol, gloves and money for winter shoes esp for places that snows heavily, it doesn't really snow in Berlin compared to Munchen. Get ready to buy thick Duvet. Sometimes you have to close eyes and buy good stuffs, and stop converting to naira when you wanna buy stuffs, it helps sometimes. If you are coming around November to December, you have to get some warm wears from 9ja, else you will perish in cold from the airport. Get 2 mouth extension, change your laptop cable to 2 mouth (not the powerpack, you know what i mean), bring bed spread and curtain, clipper, flashdrive, bring flipflops, liquids are not allowed on the plane but some people travelled with palm oil (make sure to tie it very well and wrap it), if you are using BA, come wit about 400-500 before you unblock, if you are using SL, budget about 2k for the first 4 months depending on the city and expenses, remember you start spending euros from the airport. Don't bring unnecessary stuffs like rice, spag, salt, sugar. Bring garri and noodles and condiments like maggi and curry.
That temporary warms/hoodie from 9ja is very important. I could remember the day I landed at the airport, before coming out of the plane, This German girl i was talking to from the connecting flight started to bring out her winter jacket, I didn’t know whatsup up then, coming out of the plane, see this mad cold breeze that blew, immediately I started shaking because I was juss wearing a top and a soft sweater, big boy hand drop ASAP, as I was breathing, it was like I was smoking due to the smoke-like air coming from my mouth (I don’t know how else to define, nobody told me the cold was like this). Then the bus that will take us to immigration came, all the irons in the bus was damn cold, I was seriously shaking, I was looking like a rain-beaten cat, this German girl offered me her jacket, unfortunately it was small and feminine. We got our loads, it was a little bit warm inside immigration, after we got out, immediately I open my big box, I brought out two reinforcements (still not enough but okay). Luckily for me, the girl’s mom came dropped me off at the main train station which was about 20 minutes drive from the airport, that saved me some stress. it is always the best when you have somebody to meet you at the airport(like a friend or family in the city you are heading to if it has an international airport). If you have money, there are drops at the airport
For Travels and movement in DE: Download the DB Navigator for general travels (Train, buses, Tram, etc.) and if you are coming to Berlin, download the BVG Farhinfo app (its shows you the fastest route and how to navigate easily) along with the DB navigator. I will say google maps is mostly important for directions on short distances and to know durations of long and short distance travels as well. It is important to have mobile internet on your phone if you are new to a place and going out. There is also FlixBus, it is like a subsidized bus travels mainly from cities to cities and to some EU countries.
For residence permit- for cities where you have to wait about 1 month before you get your card, and that is after 1-2 months before you get appointment in some cases, and you know you need work to survive, you can ask your RP officer on the day of your appointment to give you a temporary work permit, it is like an A4 paper with all your details including passport photo and it will be stamped, the paper will state that you had applied for a RP and the type of permit you will get including the number of days you can work which is 120 full day or 240 half days in a year. First thing first is to get an accommodation which is a prerequisite for city registration and issuance of a RP.
For health insurance, its a 2 way thing, the school will say public health insurance if you are not up to 30 years and private if you are more than 30, my guys not up to 30 years are using Mawista 33 euros monthly and it was accepted. Don't know how they did that but you can make inquiry from your school. TK and AOK is around 107 euros monthly. But public is better than private, if you fall off a bicycle or get hit by a car or have a serious ailment, the public like AOK pays everything but if you are using private, you will pay yourself at first and the private will reimburse some back depending on your insurance subscription with them which you must provide proofs for and trust me, and trust me these treatments are expensive.
And lastly, learn the language while you can, in big cities like Frankfurt, Munchen, Berlin, you might not really need it but in small cities, man you mostly need it to get a job at least A2 level. In all, you need the language to be open to more opportunities. if you will be staying in Bremen, Stuttgart, Rastatt or areas closer there or if you have friends living there that you can stay with, you can always apply for vacation job at Daimler Mercedes-Benz, for working students, they pay 15 euros per hour and you get to work 35-39 hours weekly depending on your contract (Do the Math) and you cant combine it with school work, thats why its called vacation jobs. Here is the website for Daimler Mercedes-Benz: https://www.daimler.com/career/job-search/ from position type, click vacation job. For Amazon Job: Amazon.force.com For general job search: de.indeed.com For buying of used stuffs like gadgets, and also job search in your area: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de Use google chrome browser for opening these sites when you get here for auto translations to English. Also, make sure to always check weather reports before going out because the weather is always funny. Android users download The Weather Channel app from play store, it is auto installed on iPhone.
When you get in, open N26 bank, one of the best online banks here. Activities are online, no bank branches, Fast and easy, Banking app is in English, its is also free including free ATM cards Downloading of movies, and some games w/ copyright are illegal here, a German bro was fined 13,000 euros for movies download... imagine they fine you that one, you don die be that!!
ALL THE BEST GUYS!! Immafrank, God will bless you U are just selfless. Got valuable advise here. Kai, God bless you ooooo |

Villagegirl: Title: Probably the Longest and Most Uneventful PPR Story Ever
Let's start from the middle...
3 Months+ POST AOR It's 30th of April 2019 and I'm dancing round my house and singing "He has done for me, He has done for me..." if you have plenty education and you're shaking your head right now and saying "Nigerians!" Don't worry as long as you're on this journey, you'll surprise yourself.
I've typed my PPR testimony before but it seemed forced. Today, however, there's a joy flowing in my heart because so far, I've worked with God's timeline on everything about this journey. Even before I had my AOR, it was revealed to me that we'd get our PPR in May. Yes oh.
This information made waiting *a bit* easy for me. I think one other thing that made waiting easy was reading what Ladymarshall write onetime about just preparing one's mind for a long wait. Our application will be four months in 18 days and I haven't raised CSE, I haven't called CIC, I haven't written Raphl, ordered notes or joined any whatsapp group. I've just focused mainly on threads like this one and immitracker on some days. In fact all my prayer has been "God you told me May oh"
So I'm walking round the house today 30th April and saying "God May is starting tomorrow" I don't want to have to retype the beginning of my PPR. Mehn, this is it, u won't kno how we feel after reading ... Thank you, wirklich danke ich dir |

Use your deployment letter and passing out certificate to prove the one year experience, in addition to the PPA letter. CIC knows actual work at the PPA is 10-11 months but activities continue with NYSC until the expiration of one year. This is why your deployment letter and passing out cert is important. Wow, |

Krizjay: I beg you all please stop indicating any interest to stay in germany for a period more than the partcular study you are going for in the Visa Application, be it for Further Studies or anything. even when the VO tries to convince you to further ur studies, convince her/ him how your intention after ur study is to come back and get a Job or start up something. A friend was denied Visa also because he stated his intention to proceed with his PhD. NO! The Embassy expects you to finish one study, return to ur home country and not applying for further studies and scholarships. Please desist from that Trap Is never a trap, it all boils down to ur conviction, boldness and reasonable. Now in my case, I chipped in also that while am on this academic path to benefit my country in her environment brouhaha.... That I will also seek out a completion of MSc in this field because Then highlighted the basic difference of the 2, talked about the importance of my BSc program Then also revealed the specialized "applicational" approach of her MSc and how it will upgrade my competence etc etc etc. Is just about conviction, boldness and does it make reason. When u talk and don't feel the positive aura of ur motivation, then is a shamble. It should be invigorating, intoxicating, d feeling must be contagious. If u don't, just tell her u are rushing home, Nigeria to take up an appointment or job, simple But going for further PhD is not a red flag if the purpose is palpable. |
