In the words of a certain nairalander,I say "chai Buhari". The days ahead will be very interesting. Our economic woes started during the build-up to the last election due to the tension created by politicians and Nigerians and this had an effect on the economy as foreign investors started pulling out their funds so as to avoid being caught-up in any post election violence. This new administration,has made things worse due to the non-existence of an economic team and economic policy by the new govt. Investors are waiting to see what direction the new govt would go. Nigeria is currently at a stand-still.

Time as usual,will always tell. Jonathan wasn't perfect but at the same time,isn't the failure the gullible ones are painting him as. When he came up with the increase in import duties for cars and the Nigerian automotive development plan that is supposed to improve local assembly/production of vehicles,encourage technology transfer to our engineers,provide jobs for the avalanche of idle mechanical engineering graduates wasting around without jobs,encourage manufacturing of car parts and components locally,save foreign exchange,etc,I supported Him because I saw it as an opportunity for the country to move forward in technological development,even though I knew it would have an adverse effect on my business as sales of foreign used vehicles,would drop. But a lot of my colleagues kicked against it cos the policy was going to put out a lot of dealers out of business in the long run. For them,it was more about keeping up with the status quo and being in business. Most Nigerians are selfish and self centered,and only care about themselves. What I did on my part,was to start making contacts,inquiries and all that,from automobile companies coming in to set up plants here,and those already here(companies like Innoson vehicles manufacturing). But most of the people in my line of business believe that the import of used vehicles,is a business that should go on forever and not be stopped. How do you get multi-national companies to invest billions of dollars in an industry where there is a counter-productive policy that would work against their investment? People talk about not having steady power supply and I ask: was China(with the largest automobile industry in the world today) having 24hrs power supply in 1950 when they started the production of automobiles? Answer is no. Prior to that time,electricity was mainly in the urban areas. It was the aggressive industrialization policy of the chinese govt from 1950,that led to the construction of over 1000 small hydropower projects between 1950 and 1959 in the rural areas,which led to a total installed capacity of 159mw in the rural areas,which was just 0.6% of the nation's consumption. This aggressive industrialization policy is what fired up energy generation in China and led the country to where it is today. But in Nigeria,we tend to believe that we must have adequate energy supply before we kickstart any industrialization policy.

The West weren't comfortable with Jonathan's romance with China,which would have opened up/fired up Nigeria's industrialization and as such,had to do everthing to scuttle that. Apart from issuing us visas,granting us visa lotteries and giving us aids/grants/loans,what has the west actually done for us? The aids,grants and loans we collect from them,would only keep us as beggars for as long as we keep depending on them. The balance of trade between us and the west is so wide,and skewed in favour of the west. This is because we import almost everything we consume from them;do you think they'd want this to stop?

Before we slaughter Jonathan who is in no way perfect,let's take out time to objectively look at some of his policies and see where they would have taken us to when they eventually materialize.

I was formerly engaged to a very nice guy who luckily for me was very rich and also got a very good job while we were dating in an oil firm. Unfortunately it did not work out due to external factors (folks). After healing and all, I started to open up again and have and still meeting a lot of men, both rich and not so rich, bad and good etc.

My problem here is that maybe having dated someone that was very rich and also having met and meeting still very rich guy, I'm finding it difficult settling for less. I met this wonderful guy who I'm also attracted to but he is not very rich. Meanwhile, I do have another suitor or two who are extremely rich but I'm not so attracted to them and I know marriage, that attraction is important.

I really like this guy but then again, I start battling with the fact he is not so rich as the previous and the others and what people might say in me settling for less. Even one time he visited, while I was trying to talk to my brother about him, before I could finish, my brother had already said who is this guy that does not seem like he's rich.

It's now making have conflicting feelings and thoughts and I don't want to miss out on a good person but what if I force and maybe get attracted to those other rich suitors but my mind is more on the not so rich.

Please advise sincerely and judging. Thank you.

Do you realise that you mentioned the word "rich" about 11/12 times? Are you that broke in your family to the extent that all you think about in a man,is how rich he is? You're sounding like a potential parasite and you need to work on your mentality.

You just succeeded in describing yourself. The report didn't say the foodstuffs were abandoned. It stated that they were seized from the insurgents who had robbed traders and fishermen of their goods,and were likely going to sell it off at ridiculous prices to raise money to fund their stupidity. It's one thing to donate it to the IDP camps,and have them tested to know if they are suitable for consuption. In a camp where they give them coloured water without any piece of meat or fish,it would have been helpful to them if found suitable for consumption. I don't expect you to know that anyways,cos common sense is actually not common. Morons like you only think with one part of your brain. Now,let me show you how stupid you are,and why you need to refund the school fees your parents spent on you,with adequate interest to compensiate them for wasting their hard earned resources on you.

In qualitative techniques,there's what they call decision theory which entails that you look at all possible options,conduct a test on all to see which of them is suitable,identify and select the best possible alternative,and make a decision. That's the angle from where I have made my comment. The foodstuffs would obviously be tested to see if it's suitable for consumption,before being approved for the IDP. But you on the other hand,have already concluded that it is bad for them to be given to the IDP even without thinking about if it could come in handy for these people. That's because you have a faulty thinking faculty that sees issues from only one angle. That's the one-way approach(the zombie mentality). From my analogy,any right thinking person can clearly see and tell between us,who's had a better education in life. God forbid that I lose my brains and become mentally challenged,I'd still be a million miles more intelligent that you'd ever be.

Did anyone take note of this paragraph? This is a confession by a sitting governor about how he rigged/manipulated the outcome of the presidential election in his zone,and twarted the choice/will of his people. When I tell people that the 2015 elections,is one of the worst we've had in this nation,I know what I'm talking about. The 1993 elections and the 2011 elections,are the best elections we've had in Nigeria's contemporary history. The 2015 elections and the sham elections conducted under OBJ are same of the same. Nigerians do not have leaders yet and as such,shouldn't expect a better nation. For Nigeria to be great again,all those who are currently in politics,and have been in politics before,should be sent on exile(never to return again),or assassinated and cleared out of the land.

I stumbled on a yoruba movie where the wife had to drug her cheating husband with tea,and made him sleep for 3 days straight. You might wanna try same so the silly boy(not man) would sleep for 6 days a week and hustle for just 1 day. By the time He starts struggling to eat,he'd know how far. Just kidding with the suggestion though. I know it's in the nature of men to cheat but what makes you a man,is your ability to control your excesses. I know it's not easy but it can be achieved. Boys spend time sleeping with anything in skirt but real men spend time building homes. Instead of your hubby to focus on providing for his family and saving up for the rainy day,He's busy spending it on ex-marital affairs. That's the way of a foolish man. I come from a polygamous house but have consciously made efforts to live responsibly and not do anything that would make me polygamous in nature and the first step to achieving that,is to make sure I don't keep more than one partner at a time. It takes a lot of discipline to get to that level. Unfortunately,most men aren't ready to make such efforts. Before you cheat,think of how you'd feel if you're at the receiving end.

Are Nigerians this slow? Have they forgotten how Union bank had to be rescued by govt some few years ago to prevent it from crashing and folding up? If union bank was a sound financial institution,it wouldn't have needed help from the govt at that time. I don't know of any Nigerian bank that is as bad as union bank when it comes to retail/commercial banking. In my years of doing business,I've never had the cause to step into union bank to do any transaction. Not even a single client/colleague have had a reason to make any payment to or fro union bank. What this means is that the old barclays bank is only in existence because it keeps govt's money. In the 21st century Nigeria,I don't count that as a strong financial institution that I can trust with my funds. If there's a bank that I can put my money in and go to bed with peace of mind,it has to be first bank.

The other day,someone came here and told us how he trekked for an interview and met a lady with a broken down vehicle,how he helped her and got late for the interview and lost the job. Today,someone else is telling us how he trekked for an interview,saw a man with a broken down vehicle,helped him to fix it,got to the interview,saw the same man who thanked him again,and told him not to bother about the interview,and just employed him just like that. The OP claims the company is a big company in Nigeria;which big company in naija will want to hire staffs,and appoint only one person to conduct the interview? Are you sure it's not a Pa Jimoh firm(one man company)? Secondly,how come you guys are always trekking to the venue of your interviews,and always meeting people with broken down vehicles? Anyways,congrats to your friend for getting the job.
