I walked into a hotel and after going through the menu, I ordered some food. After about 20 mins a group of guys and ladies walked in & ordered theirs. To my dismay, these folks got served first. I watched as they began to eat& laugh heartily. I even overheard one of them bragging about how connected he is to everyone in the hotel and I felt mocked . I decided to leave. Unable to take it anymore , I called the waiter. He calmly told me: "yours is a special order, being prepared by the chief chef himself. Their orders were prepared hurriedly by students on attachment because the top chefs are busy with yours Sir. That's why they were served first. Please have some juice as you wait". I calmed down & waited patiently.
Shortly after, my meal was served by 6 waiters. Unknown to me, the owner of the hotel (who happened to be an old long lost friend of mine) saw me when I entered and decided to surprise me. She changed my simple meal to a five-star meal. The party at the other table were shocked. They couldn't stop staring. Suddenly they were the ones murmuring, asking why they didn't get that kind of service and meal.
Such is life! Some people are ahead of you and are eating now, laughing at you and talking about how they are smarter, wiser and better than you, how they are well connected, blessed, have money and are enjoying life . You are waiting tirelessly wondering why it's taking so long to breakthrough, You endure mockery and humiliation. Maybe you have contemplated suicide, gone throughout depression or suffered severe mental anxiety. Do not worry! The owner of the world has seen u & doesn't want u to be served a simple meal like those making a mockery of you. You're waiting long because yours is a special meal. It takes time to prepare. And only chief chefs prepare them.
Wait for your meal and relax . When it comes that laughing party will be silenced for good.

The summary from the article is the PIB that has not been passed, the bill would make investment in O&G not much profitable as it is today for the IOC. Investment in O&G is long term and they are not willing to invest with uncertainty about the PIB, that's the reason they rather invest in other countries with clear regulations.
About local Nigerian companies taking over the industry, it is mostly onshore. Offshore is capital intensive and very risky for some of the local players. This is where the IOC comes in.
Your point about other countries bringing their oil to Nigeria was really absurd and empty.

however the bigger picture is that america never used to drill its own environments for oil but now it has started drilling its own environment for oil and so they no longer need to get oil from nigeria and couple that with the fact that the biggest oil refinery in the world is being built in nigeria and will be functional this year so it is no longer viable for them to be here anymore. the new emerging superpower is nigeria and in the future all countries will bring their oil to nigeria to be refined. there is a transfer of global wealth happening and a reversal of fortunes. africa is emerging and so it is no longer viable for the west to be in africa again. its cheaper for them to look for oil in their own backyard now. Also many local nigerians are taking over the drilling game in nigeria and so the competition is stiff. couple that with the fact that the use of oil is now being seing as a dinosaur when other energy avenues are cropping up everyday

Its actually not a bad deal. Nigeria still flares gas massively and that is a literal definition of burning money.

The problem is nobody has tried to solve the whole oil sector issue because it's a very very dark hole. Lots of people benefitting from the lack of transparency.

It has nothing to do with gas flaring, gas flaring is more of an operational thing and not because of low gas demand.
