In 2005 there was an accident between a trailer and other vehicles at this same spot, there was a police checkpoint and the trailer was avoiding settling them. Over 50 people died and that led to a need for the reconstruction of the onitsha-enugu expressway.

Reconstruction works commenced that year, with the complete removal of the asphalt along the the road, which turned the fairly good road to a muddy one. 17 years later the road is still in a bad state.

I have two comments to make.

Difference is the fact that funds will go to citizens and not the oil marketers. Also expect to see a huge drop in oil importation numbers as the subsidy scam dies off.

I think I get their objective. At least during that period the marketers will not have access to the free subsidy money, and the money will serve as a cushion to citizens.

Maybe you should find out what the exported gas from the Nigerian LNG is used for, and why whoever is buying it is not using Solar. We have the competitive advantage of developing our gas infrastructure to power our country. I agree Solar is good but what happens at night times? Do we invest in large scale battery storage (capital intensive)?.
My point remains that there is a Siemens roadmap to move our power generation from a meagre 4,000MW to about 30,000MW. Government should focus on that and leave Solar for private investors.

It would be cheaper to invest in gas-to-power as we have a lot of untapped Gas. Renewable is good but more expensive than Gas.
