In what could be seen as sheer madness in the Nigerian politics, many artists have declared their interest in the 2015 elections. Tony Tetiula, Desmond Elliot, Okey Bakasi, 9ice and many others have made their political ambition known and have already started campaigns. However, news reaching us through his spokesman, Mr. Reuben Akpan Utukubok, is that Hon Imeh Bishop who is also contesting for governorship in Akwa Ibom has released his three points agenda tagged 'Rescue Operation' for Akwa Ibom state. He said he will concentrate in Youth Employment, Security and Boosting Economy. Speaking to journalists on how to achieve all these, he said things like: ''I will remove subsidy from ashawo, merge witchcraft with aviation sector, ban dog meat because dogs are for security, send all the oyibos working in our oil companies back to their countries, bring back all our girls and boys who are serving as house boys or house girls all over the world, give them jobs in our oil companies to replace the oyibos, etc. See full details here

Royal Dutch Shell has agreed to sell OML 29, a productive Nigerian oil block, to a consortium led by oil-trading firm Taleveras Group. Nigeria’s Taleveras will pay Shell more than $2.5 billion for the block, known as Oil Mining License 29, and an associated pipeline. Shell has been working to sell several of its onshore Nigerian holdings, which for years have been plagued by leaks stemming largely from oil theft. OML 29 is the largest of the southern Niger Delta assets that Shell put up for auction last year. In addition to the oil block, the Taleveras deal includes the approximately 60-mile Nembe Creek pipeline, an aging pipe prone to leaks but which still serves as one of the country’s main crude arteries. Selling the Nembe Creek Trunk Line—which moves oil through the Delta to the Atlantic coast—would be Shell’s biggest move yet to exit onshore crude production in a region that has caused problems for decades. Over the past year, the Nembe Creek line has had multiple punctures and closures, and at least one fire. However, it is also a potentially lucrative source of revenue, given that other companies pumping oil in the region pay to use it to get their crude to market. “This is a very good deal for Taleveras. OML 29 still pumps a lot of oil, and they can get the rents from the Nembe Creek pipeline,” said one of the people. Taleveras Group was founded in 2004 by Igho Charles Sanomi II(pictured below) from Agbor Delta State when he was 29 years old. The company is a leading African business conglomerate which trades over 100 million barrels of crude oil with offices in London, Geneva, Abuja, Lagos, Abidjan, Cape Town and Dubai. The company's activities are primarily centred on the physical sourcing and marketing of oil and it pursues upstream activities with a major focus on acquiring oil assets with viable proven reserves on a structured basis. Taleveras is one of Africa's largest energy trading companies with an amount turnover of several billions of dollars. It also owns a power subsidiary which recently acquired a majority stake in the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company. http://www.nairamagnates.com/2014/10/shell-to-sell-25-billion-oil-block-to.html

I use to believe that Dangote did not go to high institution. But his biography which I read in the process of creating this post made me realize that he was also a great scholar from Al-Azhar University Cairo, Egypt where he studied how to do business. Yes, business studies generally involve theoretical, and perhaps also practical, coursework in how to manage a company, construct a business model and generally run a business. They may also involve the study of accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing and/or supply chain management. These were the things he studied. One may probably say that Dangote would not have done so well in business as he has done if he had not gone to an Egyptian University to study business studies. But wait, there are many Nigerians who have studied the same course in Havard University which was ranked the best University in the whole wide world. Many of them ended up as mere employees in poor firms. Then, what were the secrets behind Dangote success? 1. Manufacture; don’t just trade Here Dangote was quoted: “Manufacture, don’t just trade. There is money in manufacturing even though it is capital intensive. To achieve a big breakthrough, I had to start manufacturing the same product I was trading on; which is commodities.” 2. Build a brand, and don’t destroy it He was also quoted here: “To succeed in business, you must build a brand and never destroy it. One competitive advantage I had when I ventured into manufacturing was my brand “Dangote,” which I diligently built in the course of my trading commodities.” 3. Sell cheap, give quality and don’t kill the competition Another quotation atributed to Dangote is the following: “Don’t kill the competition. Competition is healthy for businesses. It keeps you the entrepreneur on your toes.” 4. Start small but dream big Dangote said “I built a conglomerate and emerged the richest black man in the world in 2008 but it didn’t happen overnight. It took me thirty years to get to where I am today. Youths of today aspire to be like me but they want to achieve it overnight. It’s not going to work. To build a successful business, you must start small and dream big. In the journey of entrepreneurship, tenacity of purpose is supreme.” 5. Have connections and pray for a big break I agree with the idea that business connections is a great business success secret. Aliko Dangote has a strong business network and political connections. I also agree that increasing your corporate social responsibility, signing joint ventures and partnership deals, forming strategic alliances, attending business events and parties, making political donations and paying courtesy visits to those at the helm of affairs, you can build your connections and strengthen your network in the business world. 6. Believe there is money to be made in your country Money can be made anywhere including in Nigeria. I do hear that even in war fronts in some war torn countries, many Nigerians can still be found struggling to make money there. Why suffering themselves and risking their lives there while there are many opportunities in their country. While some rich Nigerians are busy investing in other countries and investing no tangible thing in Nigeria, Dangote is busy investing and making billions of dollars in the country. Dangote said ''let me tell you this and I want to really emphasize it...nothing is going to help Nigeria like Nigerians bringing back their money. If you give me $5 billion today, I will invest everything here in Nigeria. Let us put our heads together and work. 7. All work and less play makes Jack a rich man “I enjoy myself a lot but I derive more joy in working. I believe in hard work and one of my business success secrets is hard work. It’s hard to see a youth that will go to bed by 2am and wake up by 5am. I don’t rest until I achieve something.” – Aliko Dangote 8. Give back to those who made you Dangote and any reasonable person does this. I would also say that you should also give to those who did not contribute anything to your success. This boosts your popularity and your business as well. 9. Obey the laws of the land Yes many people in Nigeria today made their money through wicked and corrupt means, that does not dismiss the idea that it pays to be law abiding. Dangote, the richest man in Nigeria and Africa is not known to be in any illegal business. 10. Business must flow in your blood I concur to this. After all, we read in his biography that Dangote said "I can remember when I was in primary school, I would go and buy cartons of sweets (sugar boxes) and I would start selling them just to make money. I was so interested in business, even at that time." To cut it short, I would say that doing business is his hobby. This number ten must be his greatest secret because it summaries the other 9 secrets. Source: http://nairamagnates..com/2014/10/discussing-more-about-dangote.html

This guy is quite the talented make-up artist: he can make himself look like more-or-less any female celebrity so convincingly that we'd struggle to tell him apart from the real deal. Instagram user pochoy_29, who bills himself as an actor and TV host, has been sharing his stunning transformations over the last few weeks, building a massive following and heaps of praise for all of his efforts. Take a look at picture below, is't that Kim Kardashian? This one is spookily bang-on. At first we didn't realise the bottom-right picture is Real Kim. For other female celebrities see source. A family have unwittingly become the subject of public accusations of bestiality after one of their goats gave birth to mutated stillborn baby goat. The Villalbas from the Centro region of Argentina gained these unwarranted charges after a friend posted photos of the kid online. Their friend’s intention was highlight the results of excessive use of pesticides not condemn the clan for deviant sexual behaviour. There is currently heated debate in Argentina as to whether the high levels of pesticides used in farming is causing to health problems in the human population. Olga Villalba strongly refuted the the claims of bestiality saying: ‘It was dead when it was born, we just want to get rid of it as quickly as possible so we buried it in a hole in the ground. ‘It was clearly a genetic mutation caused by the excessive use of pesticides.’ Source http://metro.co.uk/2014/10/04/farming-family-accused-of-bestiality-after-baby-goat-is-born-with-human-face-4892364/

I like your post. It is both discouraging and motivating. To be successful in entrepreneurship , you must have strong passion for the area of entrepreneurship you are venturing to. Dangote has passion for business and that was why he succeeded. For instance, you can't force yourself to be a musician where the passion and talent is not there. With talent, creativity and passion in doing a particular thing, one can excel beyond others imaginations. Dangote did it. Wizkid did it. Other are doing it. Even the chevron, shell etc people mentioned here were initially small businesses started by some individuals like you and me. See http://nairamagnates..com/ , a blog created in celebration of Nigeria's 54th independence anniversary for the purpose of inspiring, motivating and creating enterprising Nigerians at home and in diaspora. Which law will God use to judge mankind on the last day? 1. Holy Islamic law which accuses christians of idolatory for worshiping Jesus and a law which promises something for those who kill non believers. 2. Holy Catholic law which states that it would be hard for non Catholics to go to heaven because they have neglected the one and only true Church which was instituted directly by Christ on Saint Peter, the rock. 3. Holy Penticostal law which states that all catholics will go to hell for using image in worship and for honouring and asking for prayers of Holy Mother of Jesus and his saints. 4. Atheists' law which states that there is no God, Satan, heaven nor hell. 5. Jehovah withness law which states that there in no hell. Jesus is not God and paradise is on earth. Hence only their members will inherit the paradise since heaven is already full. 6. Jewish law which neither believed that Jesus was a prophet nor Son of God and does not believe in life after death. |
