I have observed something happening in social media recently. Any online poll between Buhari and anything, even a goat, Buhari loses. We have even seen stone defeat Buhari in online polls recently.

I have also observed that diehard Buhari supporters in nairaland here blame the big votes on Igbos. This is ridiculous. Are Igbos the only tribe in Nigeria using Social media. During the last presidential elections, we all observed how goats and stones defeated Jonathan in online polls. Who were casting the online polls then? Were they Igbos too?

Let me shock you people a little. Igbos+Yorubas+Hausas+Fulanis are not up to half of Nigeria's population. We have many other neglected tribes with huge populations.

Most Yorubas are sick and tired of Buhari and his style of administration. But due to the fact that a lot of yorubas hate Igbos, hatred for Igbos, Buhari would manage to win there. Sowore and other popular Yoruba contestants would also divide the votes there.

I laugh when I hear some people say that Buhari will get huge votes in the south east and south south. This is my region and any body supporting Buhari is seen as an outcast and such person's life is at risk. I was a victim of this when I supported Buhari in 2015. I was ridiculed and called all sorts of names. I was like 1 person in the midst of 1000. Things have become worse since then after the python dance and 97%/5% comment of Buhari as well as poor performance of the only APC governor in southeast and his boss, Buhari. Buhari should just forget about Southeast and south south. He should not be deceived by Rochas and Apkabio. He should focus on Southwest even though Sowore and Durotoye will pour sand in his garri.

Let's leave south and go to central Nigeria. No sane person from there, after seeing how quiet Buhari is to the Fulani herdsmen killings in the region, would vote for Buhari. Let me not talk much about this region because it is clear that Buhari has lost the trust of this region.

In the north, no doubt, Buhari is very popular. But Atiku will win in the north east. Buhari winning the north east is like yorubas voting for Ngige instead of Tinubu. This is common sense.

Buhari will surely win the northwest but not with large margin like he did in 2015. The elites are no longer with him. The shia Muslims are no longer with him. America is no longer with him. Tinubu and Atiku are like 5 and 6. Don't be surprised that Tinubu may secretly work for Atiku.

In summary, do not under rate online polls. Why PDP won in online polls during the Ekiti elections while losing in the main election was because the online poll was available to every Nigerian online to vote and not only for Ekiti people. Ekiti may be for APC because of Fayose's poor performance but Nigeria altogether has more PDP supporters today. If you create an online poll now on who will win Lagos, PDP will win because PDP supporters everywhere in Nigeria voted. But during the main elections, only those in Lagos will vote and APC may win. However, when it comes to Buhari vs Atiku, the online polls are true reflections of how the 2019 presidential election would be. This election is unrigable because Atiku will win with very wide margin more that what Buhari used to defeat Jonathan.

For those saying that no one is articulating in the north, wait till campaign time. You will see the Atiku/Obi wind sweeping the whole northeast and north central. I don't know why Buhari wants to disgrace himself in 2019. He shouldn't have contested.

Nairaland is a Yoruba owned site and I don't see how Igbos would be more in nairaland than Yorubas. I also see no reason why Hausas/Fulanis would still be in stone age in 2018 and not have access to social media as some Buhari's supporters claim. Let's see who would win now.

Health / 10 Tips From Pope Francis For Becoming A Happier Person by chuqudy(m): 3:29pm On Dec 29, 2014

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Argentina, Pope Francis has lived a colourful life and is the most popular religious leader known for his humility and commitment to dialogue. Taking a simpler and less formal approach to the papacy, people around the world are able to relate to The Pontiff and his positive outlook. In an interview with the Argentine publication Viva, The Pope issued a list of 10 tips to be a happier person, based on his own life experiences.

1. "LIVE AND LET LIVE."
Believing that everyone should be guided by this principle, The Pope refers to not judging others and letting them continue with their lives in a way that best suits them.

2. "GIVE YOURSELF TO OTHERS."
"If you withdraw into yourself, you run the risk of becoming egocentric. And stagnant water becomes putrid,” The Pope elaborates, highlighting the importance of devoting time to those in need.

3. "PROCEED CALMLY IN LIFE."
Pope Francis refers to a quote from the novel Don Segundo Sombra by an early 20th-century Argentine writer, Ricardo Guiraldes, in which the title character looks back on how he lived his life. The novelist writes that in one's youth, a person is "a rocky stream that runs over everything," but as one gets older, one becomes "a running river, quietly peaceful."

4. "WORK FOR PEACE."
“We are living in a time of many wars,” he says, and “the call for peace must be shouted. Peace sometimes gives the impression of being quiet, but it is never quiet, peace is always proactive and dynamic."

5. "ENJOY LEISURE."
Highlighting that “consumerism has brought us anxiety”, he advises parents to set aside time to play with their children and make the most of their time together without distractions such as television.

6. "FIND INNOVATIVE WAYS TO CREATE DIGNIFIED JOBS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE."
Speaking on the vulnerability of young people, Pope Francis recommends being creative with them and providing ample opportunities to ensure they stay on the right path.

7. "RESPECT AND TAKE CARE OF NATURE."
The Pope admits that environmental degradation “is one of the biggest challenges we have,” and encourages humanity to treat nature with the respect it deserves.

8. "LETTING GO OF NEGATIVE THINGS QUICKLY IS HEALTHY."
Pope Francis focuses on the need to stay positive when talking about other people.

9. "DON’T PROSELYTIZE; RESPECT OTHERS’ BELIEFS."
Using our beliefs to inspire others and help them grow is something that The Pope strongly encourages in order to live and a happier and healthier life.

10. "SUNDAYS SHOULD BE HOLIDAYS."
The Pope stresses the importance of rest as a tool for re-invigoration and spending quality time with the family.

Politics / Who Is Rochas Okorocha? by chuqudy(m): 10:18pm On Nov 10, 2014

Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha was born on September 22, 1962 in Ogboko, Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State. Born with neither a silver nor a golden spoon, he practically rose from grass to grace through sheer hard work, diligence, courage, determination, and the grace of God.

He began to hawk groceries in Barkin Ladi, Jos, Plateau State even before he reached his teens. At age 14, he bought his first bus. He later became a proprietor of a commercial school, made his first one million naira from a commission on sale of road construction equipment and sold fairly used cars via Cotonou in Benin Republic.

Owelle Rochas started his secondary education in abject poverty and deprivation in 1976, and by the late 1990s, he was combining education with business and public service. Today, he holds LL.B and LL.M from the University of Jos, Advanced Diploma in Public Administration, Diploma in Law and Conflicts Management, and PGD in Management.

Prior to his rise to wealth and prominence, Owelle, who
is currently the chairman of Rochas Group of Companies, had always prayed to God to bless him so that he would be able to bless others. So, when the wealth came, he in 1996 opened the Rochas Foundation in fulfilment of his promise to God. Rochas Foundation gave birth in 2001 to Rochas Foundation College, which today has campuses across the country, namely: Owerri and Ogboko in Imo State, Kano in Kano State, Ibadan in Oyo State, and Jos in Plateau State. The colleges offer free qualitative education to indigent students across the country.

A passionate humanitarian, Owelle Okorocha is the President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society. He has brought his revivalist spirit to bear on the near-moribund society. The Nigerian Red Cross Society is now very much alive and waxing stronger than ever.

Politically, Chief Okorocha has been very active both at the state and at the national levels. A highly detribalised Nigerian who firmly believes that Nigeria’s key problem is political leadership and not ethnicity, he in 1999 represented the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency at the National Constitutional Conference which drafted the current Nigerian Constitution. He also served as a federal commissioner representing Imo State in the Federal Character Commission.

In the same 1999, he won the chairmanship of the Youth Wing of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and later contested the 1999 gubernatorial election in Imo State but was shortchanged. He was purported to have won the election but the so-called political godfathers in Imo felt that he was not going to play card and so gave the governorship seat to Achike Udenwa.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, mindful of his management skills and latent dynamism, appointed Rochas the chairman of the board of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA. He was a presidential candidate in the 2003 general elections under the platform of All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP. He was later appointed a Special Adviser to Mr President on inter-party affairs.

Disenchanted with the day-to-day running of existing political parties, Owelle Rochas Okorocha founded the Action Alliance, AA, a mass-oriented party which aims to change the old order and chart a new course towards moving Nigeria to greater heights. Prior to the 2007 elections, however, and with the unity of Nigeria uppermost in his mind, he returned to the PDP fold and contested the party’s presidential ticket and came second behind the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He later formed a grassroots mass movement, The Agenda.

In the build-up to the 2011 general elections in Nigeria, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, dissatisfied with the way the affairs of the ruling PDP were being run, especially in his home state, Imo, decided to pitch his tent with the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. It would be recalled that he was also part of the PDP Reform Group led by ex-Senate President Ken Nnamani, which earned him a suspension from the PDP in his Ideato South LGA. He was picked to fly the flag of APGA at the gubernatorial election in Imo State. Having scored the highest number of votes cast as well as 25 percent votes in more than two-thirds of the 27 local government areas in Imo State, Rochas Okorocha took power away from the then incumbent governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim. President Goodluck Jonathan congratulated Okorocha on his election, saying the people of Imo State had spoken through the ballot box.

Immediately he resumed work as Imo State governor, he declared free education for all students schooling in Imo State government owned primary, secondary and tertiary schools. There were massive road constructions, job creations, provision of modern medical facilities and so on. In fact, Rochas Okorocha transformed Imo State within few months after becoming the governor. Teachers, students, pensioners, traders, lower class people see him as a saviour, a charismatic leader and a father.

On March 2, 2013 Rochas led an APGA faction and decamped to All Progressives Congress (APC). He was later elected by his colleague governors in the opposition as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum. He continues to wax strong in politics as he gradually struggles to, some day, become president of the most populous country in Africa.

Sun is the earth's primary source of energy. Without it, there would be no life on earth. The amount of power that the sun deposits on the surface of the earth is about 1000W/m2(watts per square meter). Plants and other organisms capture the energy of the sunlight and convert it into chemical energy that can be later released to fuel their activities. The oxygen released in the process of photosynthesis is used by man and other animals for respiration. In the past, the sun was used to make fire and now, with the invention of photovoltaic technology, the modern man has got another means of generating electricity.

Use of solar energy (photovoltaic systems or PV systems) has a lot of advantages over the use of traditional power sources:

1. It is environment friendly (it does not have the disadvantages associated with continuous fuel usage such as global warming, acid rains, water pollution, noise pollution etc.)
2. Independence ( No more electricity bills or lesser bills)
3. Zero fuel costs
4. Low maintenance
5. Reliabilty (it guarantees power provision even in less optimal weather. If you choose to install a solar system with battery storage you can even use the electricity generated by it during nighttime)
6. Durability (solar panels can last more than 25 years before degradation sets in)
7. Safety (no fear of fuel fire or tranformer explosions)
8. Flexibility (depending on your needs, PV systems can be configured in many ways eg. For phone/PC charging, for street lights, for cars, for houses)
9. Modularity( you can start your solar panel collection with one panel and add more incrementally. Therefore, once you build and install your PV panels( solar panels) they don’t wear out and you can add to them with time as you get more solar panels.

However, there are some disadvantages. These disadvantages can still be easily overcome or lessened with a little bit of ingenuity:

1. Initial cost (this is why it is good to learn how to do your own solar panel to reduce costs)
2. Solar radiation variability (weather greatly affects the power output of a PV system and changes in site conditions may require a change in design).
3. Energy efficiency (you might need to replace any inefficient appliances)

Solar cell/panel/array
The Basis of a PV system is the individual solar cell(pictured below), which is a square of a disc made of semiconductor material (e.g. silicone) that generates voltage and current when exposed to sunlight (photons in the sunlight are absorbed by the semiconducting material causing the negatively charged electrons to become loose from their atoms and flow through the material thus producing electricity).

Solar cells, which have a positive charge on one side and a negative charge on the other, are connected to create a module or panel. A panel consists of several rows of cells wired in parallel or series and placed between a clear and encapsulating substrate. Several panels wired at a specific voltage form an array. See photo below.

I have not come across any tread in this forum that talks about solar panel manufacturing. Also, I have not heard anything like solar panel manufacturing company in Nigeria. It seems every body in Naija want already made products from foreign countries. This shows how lazy we all are. I have volunteered to take the lead in this subject of solar panel manufacturing. At the end of this project, you will see how easy it is to make a solar panel. You will be able to manufacture your own solar panel with small amount of money. The last time I checked for the price of a soalr panel of about 240Watts, the sellers told me 120,000 naira. This is too high and scares people away from tapping from the numerous benefits of solar power. It is far more cheap to construct your own solar panels than to buy already made ones. Just be prepared to throw away your generator soon.
