cap28: Don't get it twisted - the chinco fought for you not because she likes you but because she knows that as an african you are willing to work harder for less - nigerians are yet to understand the dynamics of capitalism - its all about the money, a white man will employ you not because he thinks you're fantastic but because he can pay you less than he will have to pay an american citizen thereby increasing his profit margin - FACT!

This is why knowledge iS power - research the history of capitalism - the white man is rich today because of the sweat and blood of the black man - FACT!
A WHITE MAN PAYING YOU LESS, BUT IN NAIJA YOU SEE WORK ANY PLACEhuh
YOU ARGUMENT IS NOT RATIONAL. AT LEAST YOU GET YOUR WAGES EVEN WITH BENEFITS AND THEY DONT LOOK DOWN ON YOU

kabarancy: this gentle man who brought this topic of discussion about europe and america is very true.he is 100% correct.nigerians should stop dreaming of coming to europe to seek for greener pasture.the era of that is long gone.to be honest with, life is better off back home than here in europe and america.is extremely difficult for people even those with so called PAPERS to secure a menial job like cleaning for just 2 hours in a day.i really pitty africans that are risking their lives in the north african sahara desperately struggling to cross over to europe.what is here in europe and americahuhi bet u nothing, nothing, nothing and nothing other than to come study and go back to africa.the level of suffering or difficulties has reached an alarming rate easpicially among black british and africans.people are really suffering in silence.u wont believe it untill you come.
Favourable factors that are needed for struggling is non present in naija. You bag a degree and roam lagos in search of a job that's non-existent.you source loan for business capital, trouble.you obviously don't know what youths go through daily.Over the last decade, we have produced nothing but an army of online fraudsters and love peddlers(ashawo),more nite clubs springing up daily.nothing is promising here abeg. If you get link, pls find ur way so you can enjoy this beautiful world God has created, naija is a zoo.

oxford: The Nigerian government has revealed that the country is now the biggest receiver of foreign investment in Africa. During a recent summit, Nigeria’s Minister of Trade and Investment, Mr Olusegun Aganga, said that the country received $8.9 billion of investment money in 2011 - 16 percent of Africa’s total. A big portion of this comes from the United States, which has re-committed itself to existing investments and also placed a larger focus on non-oil investments. According to Information Nigeria, the two countries are working to enhance the levels of trade between them. Nigeria’s Punch newspaper reported that the trade relationship between the country and Sweden has reached $1 billion - though most of this still consists of imports from the latter.

Odenigbo Aroli.:
No need to hide this fact, we don't need to try to impress anybody because we already rule over all. If you are from any other part of Igboland, you must respect Anambra people because we are born to be on top.
The great Omanbala children are destined for success, our rich tradition and history is intimidating anyday. In everything we do, we always shine above others. It is in our blood, others can only pretend. If you like, come from the bushes of Abakaliki or the jungles of Ngwa. Even the w.hores from Owerri cannot stop us. Enugu people are just pretenders and we own them. Even other Anambra peeps from Anambra north are inferior to us. Please learn to respect us grin grin grin grin

biofem2000: Chuquiz,
Since you have your future all planned out (good for you), I will suggest you check the requirement for M.A in Philosophy and what the requirement is for the PhD program in your plan. For all you know, they might require a GMAT and you would have wasted money taking the GRE.
I was an advocate of no GRE no problem but, I have learnt a lot on this thread and my take on GRE/GMAT is evolving.
Be sure you know what your program requires/ will require before you jump on the bus. For example, some schools will only take TOEFL and not the IELTS; arm yourself with the right knowledge.

Good luck.
i think i would settle for California State University,Long Beach. they have a reputable track record and a great teaching staff for the postgraduate programme in Philosophy, goo research environ as well. GRE isnt a requirement for application consideration there

CultureRe: The Social And Cultural Implications Of Living In The West by chuquiz(m): 9:33pm On Sep 09, 2012
odumchi: Based on my own personal observations, I've noticed a few things that continue to plague we Africans in the West and especially in America.

Here are those things:

1. There is an African proverb that goes, "It takes a village to raise a child". In a society that places much of an emphasis on the nuclear family and little on the extended family, it is very difficult to raise a child [up to African standards] with the absence of the "village". If the father and mother are at work, then the child is either left to his/her own care or the care of a babysitter. Such a condition does not support the passage of lineal knowledge, advice, and proverbs as is customary in most African cultures.

2. In a country where most people speak only one language (like America), it would be very difficult for one to properly allow his/her children to grow well acquainted with their native tongue, unless of course great care is taken. As for us Nigerians, the shameful truth is that many of our children born and raised in the diaspora are unable to communicate with us in their native tongues.

3. When a child is born, he/she immediately takes a liken to his/her immediate locality. We Africans (in my opinion) must continue to remind ourselves and our children that we are mere visitors and not settlers. I've seen too many cases in which an Amercan-born African child is rarely taken home by the parents but then, when marriage comes around, is forced to search home for a spouse. If your child cannot even say the name of his community, then don't expect him/her to marry from there when the time comes.

Although the dangers are many, living in the West can be rewarding if approached properly. I'd like to hear some of you guys' ideas/responses/attitudes.
rubbish write up with little or no meaning. Pure gibberish because you are talking garbage that doesnt make sense. cheesy
CrimeRe: Police Seize Cynthia Osokogu's Corpse by chuquiz(m): 10:09pm On Sep 07, 2012
Hon. SuQ Ma'DIQ:
Cynthia is dead and gone. My concern is for other young girls that take that kinda mad and blind risk in their insatiable quest for MATERIAL THINGS and SEXUAL ADVENTURE.
To the ladies in the house, CYNTHIA's CASE IS JUST ONE OUT OF TOO MANY THAT GO UNREPORTED OR UNRESOLVED. DON'T BE PART OF THE STATISTIC.
Why are we wasting time talking about her soul resting in peace. CYNTHIA HANDED HER SOUL TO THE DEVIL THE MOMENT SHE WALKED INTO THAT SIN HOUSE(HOTEL) with her CRIMINAL LOVER. Even if she wanted to negotiate business with her fellow girl, it could have taken place anywhere but not a SIN HOUSE, talkless of negotiating what useless business apart from SEX-FOR-CASH DEAL in a HOTEL.
Say whatever you like, but your own days are numbered if currently you are as LOOSE as CYNTHIA. And 2moro people will come on NAIRALAND to blab about your SINFUL SOUL resting in which peace.
PEACE OF THE WICKED? We cant hoodwink GOD. For it is WRITTEN that "the soul that sinneth it shall die".
Her killers even have chance of making heaven if only they admit their sins and repent today. But for CYNTHIA, I know she burns right nw in hell. THAT'S THE BIBLE TRUTH
OGA ,YOU HARSH OH, WHY JUDGE?? cry
