If you're taking cash along, then you're prepared to pay higher than required. Officially, Nigeria immigration service doesn't collect cash at their offices hence you'll have to make your application and pay online.

hello guys, I was being scheduled for interview and data capturing today at the Ikeja branch of immigration office on getting there I was directed to the servicom on gettin there the officer I met there helped me with the arrangement of documents and all that but I was surprised when he asked me to come back on 2nd of January 2019 for capturing... please I want to ask if it is normal to be rescheduled for capturing on another day apart from the date of interview.. thanks

No it is not normal. It is a ploy they adopt at the Ikeja office to make you want to offer them something in order to allow you capture today. You could politely ask why you should come back on another day while taking note of the person's name. Then contact their twitter handle and let them know what you were told. In rare cases, the reschedule could be valid if they have a lot of passports to process at the moment hence the reason I wrote you should ask them why.

My story at Uyo immigration office..

i applied online and went there with the required documents..

i met them at the servicom desk. they told me that they wont accept declaration of age and that my guarantor must have either a national ID or drivers license. And also they charge 4k for processing fee. i explained to her that i dont have the money. she said that i should get the documents first that if i dont have the money i will have to go and see the PCO. (who travelled)

i left there and went to secure the two documents. i couldnt finish that yesterday. so i went back to the office today.. i met another immigration woman. i explained to her that i payed online and dont have 4k for "Office charge" she told me. exactly waht the servicom woman said. that ill have to wait to see the PCO that he travelled to come back on monday. that its only the man that can waive the 4k office fee for me.

meanwhile those who payed cash were being processed as i was there. The woman sha said that i should not worry. that i should come on monday that she will take me to the PCO.

I think i will just chill till monday and see what happens. Then ill knw if i should contact the twitter handle.

They just come up with all sorts of avenues to extort money from people. Which one is office fee again? Just note their names incase you have to report them via twitter.

The acknowledgement slip should contain the interview date.

Yeah here comes my experience at the IKEJA ALAUSA OFFICE
My interview was scheduled to hold on the 12th of Nov, I was prepared for any nonsense that might comes my way but fortunately there was no problem not until when I mentioned the word "twitter" to their hearing.

Me: good morning
Officer: replied

Me: I am here for my interview which is scheduled to hold here today sir
Officer: did yu pay online?

Me: yes sir I did
Officer: oya goan get a file and arrange yur documents orderly

Me: okay sir

After some few minutes....when I was done with the said instructions

Me: I am done with it sir, what next sir
Officer: oga abeg no rush me ooo...no be me talk say make yu do online payment's

Me: sorry sir, what next?
Officer: collected the file, where is the original certificate of yur state of origin

Me: I'm not with it sir.....bcoz it is far from me but I have it scanned on my fone

Me trying to show him on my phone and he cut me short and said "I don't know if dey will approve it ooo"

Officer: oga com back for your capturing

Officer: I will call yu
Me: (inside my mind I knew where he was driving to) oga I will give yu 1k to help me get it approved

NB: I offered him the 1k bcoz I was not with my original certificate of origin for sightseeing

Officer: collected my file and left for few minutes.
Oga come next week for capturing

Officer: started ranting.....oga do yu want to report me?

He left the servicom unit and started entering different offices to report......that one of those people that use to report them to Abuja is around and that I just a received a call from them...my file was dumped for hours

Me: I started moving from one office to another to know the stage at which my file is......to my surprise it had not even passed the first stage......Now I knew there was a problem bcoz by now the time is about 3:50pm.

I tried my best to know what was the reason behind the delayed in my file and no one at all even looked at me once not to talk of twice

NB: they were all busy with the people that paid 28k at the office and many of these people met me there

Latter bcoz I refused to quit I was told to come the following day b4 9am bcoz they have closed for that day which is on Monday

Day 2
I got there few minutes after 9am
I went straight to the office where they vet and approved files but to my surprise the case had gone viral beyond my imagination in fact they were expecting me and they already had plans

OfficerB: replied

Me: I narrated my story of what happened the previous day and why I was told to come early today for capturing
OfficerC: come with me

Me and about 3 officers left for a particular office.....and on getting there THE REAL DRAMA began

Me: (I was surprised)....oga I am not a criminal ooo! And I explained what happened.

Oga: shut up!!!
Who are you?

Me: I explained.

Oga: where is your ID card?
Me: I am a corper......I redeployed.....so no ID card yet

Me: how sir?

Oga: so you have the guts to be questioning me and he called on the PRO
The PRO entered (making about 5 officers against only me)

Write the NYSC office about this criminal man and his misconduct....... (he asked ).....where is that hard drugs yu caught on him (the other officer replied with it)
Now I was fully aware of what's going on

I tried removing my phone from my pocket....they rushed me and seized my phone (another story again)

Good job you are doing on this thread by letting people know that they have options and do not have to accept shoddy treatment.

I went through the entire process online (like I always do) and I was given an interview appointment date on my passport e-application form. I will be going for my appointment in a couple of days. I am assuming you were also given an interview date on your application and you went along with your documents (photos, passport payment acknowledgement slip, application form etc.) on your interview date? I do not intend to go to that place more than once before collection of the passport.

Yes i did. I only visited the office twice: one on the date of interview and then when i went for collection.
What i advise you to do is to note the name of officer that may want to ask any money from you if you encounter such. While at the office, be prepared to tweet to their handle if you encounter any challenges. I have read about incidences with the Alausa office whereby people who paid online are asked to come back at a later date for capturing. If you are told something similar, make it known immediately to the twitter handle.

This is a rare circumstance so I suggest you engage them via twitter to get possible solutions. We on this forum may not have the kind of information you need.

Exactly. When i went to renew mine, i was prepared for anything that was going to be thrown at me and was prepared to stand my ground.
It seems like they must have sensed that i was not going to tolerate any nonsense so the moment I told the first officer that met me that I paid online, he directed me to servicom and the lady there carefully took her time to direct me on how to go about it. Nobody asked me for any dime.
When it was time for collection, I was directed to the PRO after I had asked about the status of my application via twitter. I was out of there in 10 minutes with my passport.

When you tell someone the way out the extortion and they rebuke it without even attempting anything, you leave the person alone. I have mentioned several times on the thread how effective the twitter handle was but they kept doubting it.

The old passport number and a new passport number.

I was kind of confused. Cos, I've never heard of such. Please house, is it possible for a recovered passport to have two numbers?

Yes. It clearly marks the number of the old one as belonging to the previous passport.

My goodness. Those people frustrated me, I had to pay #1000 for opening file and #5000 for processing fees. They were seriously annoyed with me that I made payments online even when all my documents were complete. I had to be doing alot of begging on top of my money so that they can attend to me. The woman there claimed that everyone that paid online always pays a compulsory processing fee. Though I know that money was illegal but I didn't want them to delay my passport so I just paid. My passport is scheduled to be ready in a week time as seen in the printed form after capture

Which location was that? If you had made your complaints to them via twitter while still in the vicinity of the office while this was going on, I'm sure you will have been special treatment after that. They would have received a call from Abuja, and you know what that means?
