And some people are complaining of closure? This is a joke! Just have a look at the environment! All it portrays is nothing short of a dust bin. This place is not fit for human habitation and it should be so closed until the traders come to their senses.

Well, for me, I would not ignore hers...but I would not buy her a gift either. I would simply wish her "happy birthday", go out with her for a drink (if I have the time) and thats it. If she as much as frowns at the absence of a gift for her, then all hell will be let lose. grin

platinum131: People for goodness sake when @op said 36 hand grenade,he is talking about a particular variant of grenade known as '36 hand grenade' designed in the uk sometime in the 1915's or so,by a william mills. He is not talking about 36 grenades.pls lets do a little research before we display our ignorace.
@topic, having said that,I do not know if the story is true or not,but let us try as much as possible to respect other people's religion. Many muslims do not support the ideologies of boko haram,so lets stop talking like all muslims or all northeners for that matter are in support of boko haram.!
Pls tell this to ur brother fellis who set d pace for this squabble. He is a shallow-minded bigot!
...i wldnt want to sound as if i care less about muslims but the truth of the matter is that this story looks quite funny and more like a cooked up story!why wld gun men throw grenades in a mosque of just about 10 worshipers and grenades as we all know, will definately explode within seconds!more so they were armed with guns, one wld expect them to ve entered the mosque and riddle the worshipers with bullets, but rather they choose to be shooting the sky, while running away...which is far from the modus operandi of either boko haram,Ansaru or Hausa fulani gun men!i just hope the 'usual' fifth columnist,is nt trying to forment another crisis in Jos!in other words, this is just another make believe attack, unlike the ones witnessed at churches in the north!....am greatful to God no life was lost!!
You are spot-on! I wonder who they are trying to fool this time around.

No life was supposed to be lost my dear...because it is a lie! I am only shocked at the gross stupidity of the person who composed this obviously false story. Who is he trying to impress and what actually is his intention?

The so-called STF men where already waiting to work on the grenade huhhuhhuhhuh?? This is hillarious!

Saladin1:
Yes because our identity as muslim is been denied. Hijab is not a fashion statement but a religious duty of female muslim. Christians in this country should learn to accept us for who we are rather than enforcing their values and dress code on us.
Nobody is enforcing jack on u! Rather, u guys are the ones doing exactly that! Western education is supposed to be bad for u guys...then what the hell are u guys going to school for? There are more than enough cows to milk!!!

i Of course, research is a 'waste' ... I wonder who is ignorant...

ii. Maybe you need to live with muslims because you obviously have no clue who they are...

iii. You don't have to attend the same school, you can move to private institutions..
I just realsed that I have unproductively wasted 2hrs of my precious Thursday on rubbish! Time to go have some beer!

IslamRe: Muslim Students Protest Discrimination Against Hijab In Lagos by Chynx(m): 6:52pm On Feb 28, 2013
tbaba1234: i. I am not your dear...

ii. You have lived with muslims in Lagos for many years, including those wearing the Hijab.. How many people have been forced/intimidated into Islam?

iii. How many people can afford private schools? The public school is for everyone not just for you..., If you do not like it, you can go to a private school that would restrict people's rights. You guys accuse muslims of intolerance but the kinds of things you utter reeks of it. I sincerely hope that people start removing the log in their eyes first according to their book.

iv. You can do a proper research on the history of muslim states and christian ruled states and tell me your results. Only one carried out crusades and inquisitions.
1. "My dear" does'nt mean u are dear to me, it is simply a subtle way of drawing ur attention to something u are obviously ignorant of.

2. I dont have that time to waste on reseach about a religion that unleashes violence at every slight misunderstanding in the name of jihad. I am sure u are not ignorant of that too.

3. Sorry, I have never lived with muslims and never will. MUST WE ATTEND THE SAME SCHOOLShuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuh

4. We dont operate on the same frequency in EVERYHING. This is very simple and glaring!
IslamRe: Muslim Students Protest Discrimination Against Hijab In Lagos by Chynx(m): 6:40pm On Feb 28, 2013
Well in this day and age, no one should be allowed to run around totally covered. If muslims want to be free to practice this aspect of their religion, they should do something about suicide bombers. A school or institution is supposed to be liberal but not to the point where some of your students are fully covered. If they want to do this, there are muslim schools around Lagos that can accommodate them. Due to security issues, no one should be covering up their whole body anyhow abeg.
grin grin grin grin grin grin Bombs can be easily concealed under masquerade attires these days uno! grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

IslamRe: Muslim Students Protest Discrimination Against Hijab In Lagos by Chynx(m): 6:25pm On Feb 28, 2013
tbaba1234: You are still not getting it...

The hijab is not just a mosque thing for the muslim, it is something that is observed all the time.

Be objective:

i. It is a public school and under the Nigerian constitution hence they cannot prevent a person from a religious obligation. If you have a private school, you can fix your own laws.
My dear, we simply dont want our kids to be marooned (by way of imitation) into a religion that knows NO PEACE! There is hardly any muslim country or settlement that isnt always fighting for one reason or the other. U guys are rich enof to build schools for ur hajibs as well. Thank you.
IslamRe: Muslim Students Protest Discrimination Against Hijab In Lagos by Chynx(m): 6:11pm On Feb 28, 2013
muib: Some comments on this thread are unfair.. Because the present uniform system favours some people, they are trying to deny others there right. Hijab is very crucial in Islam.. It's explicitly stated in the sharia so other laws must make room for it.. There is freedom of dressing in the nigrian law.. What if Christians are forced to wear Hijab? Will they not react?... We should be objective when we are making statements
My dear, some Christian ladies also make sure they have their hair covered during worship. Why d hell dont they wear there scarf in school? There is a clear difference between a place of worship and an academic insttution. A school where uniformity is practiced has to be uniformity all the way! We also have schools where students are allowed to wear casuals to the classroom...they can then wear their hajib there. Have u heard of hajib being criticised in Universities?
IslamRe: Muslim Students Protest Discrimination Against Hijab In Lagos by Chynx(m): 6:04pm On Feb 28, 2013
Hallie27: in islam, seeking knowledge is obligatory on every muslim male or female, so whether it is in a western or eastern school, provided it is knowledge, you have to seek and find it. You really dont know much,do you? Well, tis the reason why most xtians' mode of thinking is myopic. You limit yourselves when it comes to all round knowledge, the best you know is abuse and criticize.
I hope ur aboki brothers are among the non-myopic (elites) u parade u muslims to be? The last time I checked, being myopic is one thing u muslims hold in high esteem! Don't come here to run ur mouth cos u managed to be among d rare few that attended d four walls of a primary school. Blind bigot!
IslamRe: Muslim Students Protest Discrimination Against Hijab In Lagos by Chynx(m): 5:50pm On Feb 28, 2013
Muniru A: I thk hijab shud be allowed 4 muslim stds to wear since the stds re still wearing the skul uniform. Hijab is just a piece of cloth that is being worn on a normal cloth(skul uniform). 4 other religious groups, they cant wear their religious cloth in public skuls since they ve to abandon d skul uniform
My question is..."must they go to school?" I thought western education/culture is bad for them! undecided

Female youth corpers who wear trousers in the north are humiliated till this day and nothing has been done about that. When u r in Rome, behave like the Romans...simple! Me sef fit tie gele enta class ni!

abdulkayus: d muslims girls hav d right to wear their hijabs anywhere dey are. So u ppl xpect dem to be openin their heads like u ppl abi.
Hypocrites.
U r a clown! If we want masquerades in classrooms, we know exactly where to get some. We all come from various ethnic d religious backgrounds, rich in numerous dresscodes. Do I have to wear a cassock to the classroom because I practice Christianity? Besides, what the hell are u guys looking for in schools? I thought u are supposed to "say no to western education".

Uve got more than enough cows to milk...so Bleep off!
