Politics / Former Eastern Region Nigeria And The Truth, Pt. 2: Parliamentary Secretaries by chyz1: 5:11pm On Nov 05, 2017
It would not be fair to myself and other truth seekers to discuss and expose one aspect of the government of the former Eastern Region Nigeria: the ministerial positions and its appointees, without doing in kind the other aspects of the regional government.

The parliamentary secretary position is a powerful position that can be very lucrative as well. Parliamentary secretaries liaisons between the ministers and the legislative branch of government. In...

News Nov 12, 2010

By Evelyn Usman  & Kingsley Ndimele

Warri communities vow to battle Shell over jobs

News Nov 12, 2010

By Emma Arubi

WARRI—SEVEN amalgamated Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, host communities in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, have warned the management of the Anglo-Dutch oil giant against issuing jobs within their technical competence and financial capabilities to the general public, saying that they are now prepared to prevent the smooth operations of the company if it goes ahead with its plans.

The communities, in a final letter addressed to the Managing Director of SPDC East, Mr. Mutiu Olaniyi Sunmonu, said they have written several letters to the company without result and are very surprised that the company should go ahead to advertise the same jobs that have been assessed to be within the competence and financial capabilities of their communities’ contractors, noting that “we find it very strange, shocking and most embarrassing.”

Politics / Acn Alleges Plot To Destabilise Ekiti Over Council Polls by chyz1: 4:36am On Nov 12, 2010
ACN alleges plot to destabilise Ekiti over council polls

Friday, 12 November 2010 00:00 From Muyiwa Adeyemi (Head South West Bureau Ado Ekiti) News - National

THE Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Ekiti State, has alleged that the recently dissolved chairmen of the local councils have “perfected fresh plots to destabilise the new-found peace and tranquility being enjoyed in the state.”

Meanwhile, Governor Kayode Fayemi has called for private sector assistance to actualise his vision for the state just as Globacom Telecommunication has reduced call costs within the state by 50 per cent in the past three weeks in support of his administration.

A statement by Emmanuel T. Omiyale, Publicity Secretary, ACN (Ekiti), claimed that the former local government bosses held a meeting over the weekend in the house of a top party stalwart in Ogun State, to review the circumstances that led to their ouster from office.

The statement added: “The meeting also centered on the next strategy to be used to forcefully regain control of the local government secretariats in the state through resort to violence following an earlier failed attempt to invade the secretariats shortly after the dissolution of the councils.

“We recognise the fact that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which sponsored the ousted chairmen for the illegal December 20, 2008 local government election won’t give up without a fight hence the resort to asinine propaganda and destructive brinkmanship.

“The ACN-led government followed due process and the rule of law in dissolving the 16 local councils in the state which was done in the overriding interest of the people of the state in accordance with the spirit and letters of Section 23 b (1 and 11) of the Local Government (Amendment) Law 2001.
“Law-abiding citizens need not entertain any fear; they should report any suspicious movement to the nearest security agencies.

“We, however, urge any person or group still aggrieved with the dissolution of the councils to use constitutional means to ventilate their grievances. Dissolution of the local governments is a constitutional matter and our courts are there to adjudicate over such matters.”

The telecommunication giant’s Business Director, Mr. Adeniyi Olukayode, who expressed his support for Fayemi in Ado Ekiti during a courtesy call on the governor, said users of the lines in the state were now paying 25 kobo per second rather than 49 kobo being charged nationwide.

He said the company was “incurably committed to the agenda of the Fayemi government, especially in the area of youth empowerment,” where he pledged out that the firm would soon start to train some youth in public phone calls.

He disclosed that the company has awarded a N2.5 billion contract for the erection of towers in the state to ensure that all its towns and villages have Glo signal, beside the N3 billion contract spent under the previous administration.

Responding, Fayemi urged Globacom, as a promoter of sports in the country, to assist the government’s bid for stardom in sporting activities, especially the revival of Fountain Football Club owned by the state.
The governor declared the intention of his government to set up a Sports' Academy and Games' Village, where youths would have the requisite exposure for the realisation of their talents in sports
He said the youth of the state are naturally endowed with sporting skills and that they needed impetus and veritable avenue for them to realize their potentials for the betterment of Ekiti and Nigeria as a country.
Fayemi noted that the state has produced world class athletes like the late Oluyemi Kayode, Mr. Soji Fasubaa and Damola Osayomi, currently the best woman sprinter in Africa.

Politics / Cuban Experts Propose Bio-technology To Stem Malaria In Nigeria by chyz1: 4:34am On Nov 12, 2010
Cuban experts propose bio-technology to stem malaria in Nigeria

Friday, 12 November 2010 00:00 From Joke Akanmu, Abuja News - National

IN a bid to partner with the Federal Government in the fight against malaria scourge in the country, Cuban experts have proposed the use of biological technology to curb the menace.

A statement by an officer in the Cuban Embassy, Mr. Innocent Odoh, said that the biological technology would control mosquitoes, which it described as the chief transmitter of the dreaded malaria disease.

Mr. Jose Fraga Castro, who led the team of experts to Nigeria to evaluate the possibility of introducing the biological process, said the proposal had already been submitted to Nigeria’s Ministry of Health.

Castro stated that the Cuban authorities were ready to collaborate with the Federal Government in constructing plants where the products would be manufactured and assist in training Nigerian experts and citizens on the method of applying them in ponds, lakes, rivers, drainages, sewages and lagoons to kill the mosquitoes in their larva stage.
Castro stressed that this process for over 30 years has helped the developed countries to reduce malaria epidemic because they have accessed it and it has worked effectively. He stated that the biological process is far better than the treated mosquito nets, which do not kill mosquitoes completely.

According to the statement, the envoy decried the backwardness of the Third World countries in exploiting the programme, thus leading to the death of thousands of people.

He revealed that the biological process has taken off and recorded success in Angola, Zambia, Ghana and Equatorial Guinea, urging Nigeria to leverage this opportunity to eliminate the deadly disease.

He lauded the positive response of the Nigerian Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, saying that the programme does not have a secondary effect in both human beings and animals as it has been approved by the World Health Organisation.

The experts, who had also visited Port Harcourt, urged the Rivers State government to also embrace the technology.

If true then its good news. The nigerian economy would do so much better if monopolies by people like deangote were stop. Yaradua tried until Dangote told him hands off. Nigeria will soon produce its own cars, thats another booster. The privatization of the Power industry would definitely get nigeria where it wants to be.

Well, since Nigerians cannot fix their problems themselves, I think it would be proper for the developed countries to allow Nigerians free migration to their countries to continue as slaves. By the time a large proportion of the Nigerian population has moved out, the developed countries will then move part of their citizens to take over Nigeria, re-establish, and get down to real business of development. Nigerians are wasting land space on this planet.

I suppose u just read a headline in a nigerian news paper that just pissed you off.Lol

Forget about anything they say, talk is cheap.

Thank you for posting Charles Iwegbue.  Do you have Ogbanje or Egwu na so ndioma by Iwegbue?  You can now compare Iwegbue(Ukwuani) to Ogbogu (Enuani), you'll be comparing apple to apple and the similarities would be easy to discern.

Ukwuani and Enuani are just two branches of the same tree. Pronounciations and intonations are sometimes different but the words are 99% the same.

I haven't heard "Egwu na so ndioma" in a while. If you can post some some of those songs it would be great. wink

This video is from Ogbogu Okonji and he is actually singing in Enuani dialect.  Ogbogu is from Igbuzo and has performed for me twice.  He is perhaps the king of Enuani music in my opinion.  What he is saying is totally different from what you posted previously.  This is Enuani dialect as I know It.  That the first video used the Enuani flute we call "Akpele" does not make it Enuani. The "akpele" was borrowed from Anioma.

Please brother seek another opinion.  The first video is not Enuani.  I can tell the difference believe me.  I understand the Igbo spoken in the first video though but it is not Enuani.  it is what I told b/4 from Imo/Abia axis not even Anambra.  Late Osita Osadebe sang in a variant of Enuani because Enuani is also spoken in lower Anambra i.e. Ogbaru and Onitsha (natives).

My bad bro u are right. the first is not Asaba. The thing that got me was the flute. the kind of flute i usually here in asaba, igbuzo type music. I will be posting more vidz though. wink

Enjoy:

omonuan bro, this is not Imo/Abia music man, if you said Delta/Imo area it would be better. Even the type of flute that is used gives that away. The flute that they use is used by people from that Asaba.

Do you call this Igbo "Ngala" too?:
