Some students of Ebonyi State university, Abakaliki, Ishieke Campus have vowed to embark on protest on Saturday over lack of electricity supply in the campus.

Speaking with Igbere TV correspondent, a student who craved anonymity said the protest will be disastrous if the Enugu State Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC does not improve on the electricity supply in the area.

"How can we be writing exams in darkness? They don't bring light. They are only good at bringing outrageous bills."

"For over two weeks now, there is no light. Before, they will bring the light and take it within 30 minutes but since started exams, no light. Tell them that we are coming for them," he said.

Other students who spoke with IGBERE TV on Tuesday morning also lamented lack of electricity supply in the area and vowed to join the protest.

“Nobody was invited by d police becos he spoke against miracle money..he defamed.”

He also criticised Balogun’s lawyer Inibehe Effiong, saying, “Can sm1 refuse to appear in court when he has not been invited?

“A lawyer that replies an unverified write up from the street is that one a lawyer. He is just catching cruise. He is better ignored.”

The All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary elections which held on June 26, 2021, has been nullified by the Independent National Electoral Commission, IgbereTV reports.

According to the monitoring team for the election, it has been confirmed that the election that produced Andy Ubah as its winner is nonexistent as no elections held in any of the wards all around the state.

IGBERE TV recalls that the Senator who represented Anambra South in the 7th and 8th Senate, Dr Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba, popularly known as Andy Uba had been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, held on Saturday, June 26, 2021.

The declaration was made by the Chairman, Anambra State APC Primary Election Committee, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

Andy Uba scored 230,201 out of 348,490 accredited voters.

But NEC disclosed on Wednesday, reported that the June 26 APC governorship primary in the Anambra state did not hold.

The commission said that in all the 326 electoral Wards of the state-monitored, that none of the APC team saddled with the responsibility to conduct the primary.

The commission said the electoral officials and materials were not available at the voting centres for the APC governorship primary scheduled for 26 June 2021 in Anambra state, up to 5;30pm when INEC monitors withdrew from the field.

The commission's monitors did not witness accreditation, voting, counting of votes, collation or declaration of results at the voting centres and collation centres up till 5:30pm when the monitors were recalled.

Recall that 11 of the 14 governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra have said the June 26 governorship primary in the state did not hold.

Dr George Muoghalu, the spokesperson for the aspirants, made the position of the group known in a press conference on Saturday in Awka.

Muoghalu said that in all the 326 electoral Wards of the state, people came out, but were disappointed, saying that none of the APC team saddled with the responsibility to conduct the primary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials was seen.

Muoghalu, the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and one of the aspirants, said anybody who claimed that there was primary is fraudulent and did not wish APC well in the November 6 election.

Paul Orajiaka and Edozie Madu, both aspirants, corroborated the position of Muoghalu and warned that the era when one man would come up with fake figure to claim victory is over.

The aspirants, however, appealed to the party leadership to come up with a fresh date for the Anambra primary to ensure that the party beat the deadline in the Electoral Act.

Other aspirants at the event were Johnbosco Onunkwo, Ben Etiaba, Amobi Nwaokafor, Chidozie Nwankwo, Geoffo Onyjegbu, Azuka Okwuosa, among others.

“Despite the fact that she stated in her school that she’s not a Christian nor a Muslim, they are always giving her Christian assignments by force. She doesn’t have a Bible, she has to borrow from my cousins.

“I’m here fuming and can’t do anything because I’m in a country that will either make you be a Christian or Muslim by force.

“All I can tell her is sorry baby girl, I’m sorry.”

A priest of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Father Solomon Ukeyima and his friends have gifted a poor aged woman a furnished house, IgbereTV has learned.

Mama Agatha Kwasena who has been living in a squalid hut for years was handed the keys on June 8, 2021 upon completion and dedication.

Father Ukeyima who is the Parish Priest of St. Augustine’s Demekpe, Makurdi traced the woman’s background after “her widow’s mite” gift of six eggs during sympathy visit to him after a robbery incident at the parish house last year.

A building under construction at the federal medical center Umuahia, has collapsed, Igbere TV reports.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent in his office at Umuahia, the chief medical director federal medical center Umuahia, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi, said the incident occured at the early hours of Thursday May 20th, 2021.

He said he is still waiting for the contractor and site supervisor to explain what happened to the collapsed section of the new ultra modern building meant to house accident and emergency unit.

He also confirmed that the building collapse did not record any casualty.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has raised the alarm over alleged presence of Gunmen brought in from outside the State and camped at an undisclosed location.

The hoodlums, who are said to be up to 200, are allegedly armed with guns.

On Wednesday, the state government raised the alarm in a statement by Honorable Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu and sent to IgbereTV.

According to the statement, the hoodlums were brought into the State by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cause mayhem in the forthcoming Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency election.

The statement also alleged that hoodlums are disguised in fake military uniforms made available to them by an "Abia born retired Army General who only recently joined the opposition party".

The statement reads in part

“Abia State Government is aware of the presence of hoodlums brought in from outside the State and camped in a location in Aba since Monday, March 22, by an opposition party as part of their evil plans for the forthcoming March 27 Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency election.

“Specifically, we are aware that about 200 armed youths have already been camped at a location and are awaiting deployment with fake military uniforms made available to them by an Abia born retired Army General who only recently joined the opposition party, intending to unleash mayhem on the people of the State.

“We hereby call on security agencies in the State and Abuja to ensure that those hoodlums already in the State are immediately apprehended while others on the way are prevented from entering the State.

“Our intelligence confirms that the plan of the opposition party is to overheat the polity as a prelude to calling for full deployment of the military, which will in turn create room for them to deploy the hoodlums with fake uniforms and the already procured arms.

“We wish to make it abundantly clear to those behind the dastardly plot that their plans are fully known and will surely not only be resisted but also completely thwarted.

“Aba Federal Constituency is one that no sane person should toy with and those planning to unleash mayhem on the people of the State will surely meet their waterloo.

“We advise politicians to desist from acts capable of compounding the security situation in the country and distracting the federal government in its efforts at containing the trend.

“We advise the police and military high command as well as office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Department of State Services (DSS) to be wary of the antics of desperate politicians seeking for expansion of family enterprise even at the expense of precious lives of citizens rather than growth and unity of our nation.

“Finally, we urge law abiding citizens to remain vigilant but not intimidated. They should go and vote as the government will do everything necessary to protect them and ensure that their votes count and are counted.”

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the forthcoming Aba North and Aba South federal constituency bye-election, Chimaobi Ebisike, on Tuesday absconded from the election debate with opposition's candidate, Mascot Uzor Kalu and others, IgbereTV reports

The bye-election, slated for Saturday, March 27, 2021, is to fill the vacant seat for Aba North/South Federal Constituency of Abia State following the death of Ossy Prestige, who represented the constituency.

According to the organisers, of all the three major contenders, only the APC candidate accepted to participate in the debate.

Mr. Mascot is the front runner and flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the bye-election.

He was the Chief of Staff to ex-Governor, Theodore Orji and and a successful executive banker and international business magnate.

The debated which was later cancelled due to failure of the candidates of PDP and APGA to make appearance was organized by Abia State Debate Team. The group is made up of Radio stations and prominent online platforms based in the State.

The Presidency has applauded the Abia State House of Assembly over the passing of the much anticipated 'Abians in Diaspora Commission' Law, Igbere TV reports.

The passage makes Abia State the first state in history to have a state commission on diaspora.

Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa in a statement on Tuesday hailed the Speaker, Rt Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji for passing of the bill.

The bill, passed on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, was sponsored by the Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Dr. Mike Ukoha.

Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji, upon hearing the bill showed massive support and also gave it accelerated hearing.

The bill, seeks to establish the Abians in Diaspora Commission (ADCOM), in order to monitor the welfare of Abians in their country of domicile.

According to the bill, it will also assist them in investment and development opportunities in Abia State and Nigeria in general, and arrange for them to render voluntary services in Abia State in order to achieve overall development of the state.

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa who doubles as the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) also thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the great feat.

The crisis rocking the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia state took a turn for the worse on Tuesday following the withdrawal of Hon. Obinna Ichita from the forthcoming Aba North/South Federal Constituency by-election,Igbere TV reports.

The by-election is occasioned by the vacuum created by the death of former lawmaker representing the Constituency, Hon. Ossy Prestige of APGA. Ichita is member representing Aba South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly. His withdrawal from the race came few hours to the commencement of the party's primaries.

Although Ichita cited “high level of bitterness in our politics” as the reason for his action barely 72 hours after obtaining the nomination form, Igbere TV however reliably gathered that the lawmaker took the action over alleged threat to life.

He had hinged his withdrawal from the race on “the events of the previous days”, which he said “have revealed a lot: the level of bitterness in our politics”, subtly giving credence to the alleged threats to life.

Hon. Obinna Ichita further insisted that he was withdrawing from the APGA primary election “based on the advise of my immediate family and my close associates.”

However, a source close to the Campaign Organisation, who spoke to Igbere TV on the condition of anonymity, said the real reason behind Ichita's sudden decision to withdraw was to save his life.

The source alleged that Ichita has been receiving several threats to his life, following his formal declaration to contest the Aba North/South House of Repsʼ by-election race.

When questioned further on whether he had any idea who could be behind the said threats, the source said he believes the threats are coming from the camp of the other faction of the party.

“The threats on the life of Hon. Ichita is obviously the work of the other divide. I believe they are trying to kill him just so they can fully take over the party structure in the state for themselves.”

APGA, after the widely celebrated exit of its former Governorship candidate and party leader, Dr. Alex Otti, became a factionalized party in Abia State.

Otti, a former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the defunct Diamond Bank had dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), taking along with him the major pillars of the party and over half of it's membership.

Until his exit, Otti was considered as the backbone of the APGA in Abia state, and one of the top and major financiers in South East.

Following the demise of Hon. Ossy Prestige, Ichita believes that he can take the place of Alex Otti being one the few elected member of the party at the Abia State House of Assembly, but the other faction thinks otherwise.

An impeccable source in the Ichita camp vowed that the faction would go at any length to frustrate the preferred candidate of the other APGA faction, Akaraka at the polls.

“Akaraka is a greenhorn who could not win ordinary State Assembly election during the last general election. How he plans to win a federal seat without the support of Hon. Ichita is all we want to see. We are watching keenly,” the source added.

Igbere TV just obtained a video of some residents in Ogun State chasing away Fulani herdsmen and their cattles from the state.

This comes amid activities of herders which have continued to raise concerns in several parts of the country, with some regions banning open grazing.

The 2 minutes video which has gone viral on social media shows young men stoning herders as they keep running for their dear lives.

The incident according to information gathered by our correspondent occured at Idi Ori in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In the video, the woman who recorded the incident can be heard pleading to the young men to stop throwing stones at the herders so as to avoid bringing war on their community.

The woman also appealed the men chase away the herdsmen not to harm or kill their cattles.

She marveled at the amount of cows in the area which was unknown to them.

The South East caucus of the House of Representatives on Wednesday visited the wife of Late Hon. Ossy Prestige, Mrs. Precious Ossy Prestige to condole with the family over the death of the member representing Aba North/Aba South, describing it as painful and shocking, Igbere TV reports.

The delegation which was led by the Leader of the South East Caucus and Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha also had all the caucus members in attendance as they pay their last respect to the family.

Speaking on behalf of the caucus the Deputy Chief Whip noted that the former lawmaker will be missed at the Green chambers; but will always be remembered by his outstanding contributions, achievements and the legacies he has left behind as the member who represented the people of Aba South/North Federal Constituency very well.

Hon Onyejeocha further described Late Ossy Prestige as a consummate politician, prominent community leader, and an accomplished federal lawmaker whose dedication to legislative duties, service to God and humanity has positively contributed to the development of the constituency he represented and the country in general; and that as a ranking member of the National Assembly his marks will remain indelible on the sands of time.

"Your late husband's death was received by all of us with deep shock. He was our brother, a peacemaker, and an experienced lawmaker whose remarkable contributions and dedication was enjoyed by all and sundry”.

Hon Nkeiruka on behalf of the Caucus members prayed to God to grant the soul of Hon Ossy Prestige a peaceful eternal rest and to the family the fortitude to bear the great loss.

Responding on behalf of the family, the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Precious Ossy Prestige thanked immersely the entire members of the South East Caucus of the House of Representatives for the condolence visit which according to her demonstrates the love they have for her family and prayed God to grant them journey mercies as they return to their various destination.

Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has commiserated with the government and people of Abia state over the passing of a member of House of Representatives (Aba North and Aba South federal constituency), Hon. Ossy Chinedu Prestige, Igbere TV reports.

According to Kalu, the deceased was a compassionate politician , who touched lives of people in his constituency.

In a condolence message, the former Governor extended his condolences to family, friends and associates of the late Prestige.

He said, "On behalf of the people of Abia North Senatorial district, I mourn the passing of a member of House of Representatives (Aba North and Aba South federal constituency), Hon. Ossy Chinedu Prestige.

"It is a sad loss to Abia state and the national assembly.

"However, we take solace in the fact that late federal legislator contributed to the growth of his constituency".

Kalu prayed to God to repose the soul of Prestige and give the deceased's family the fortitude to bear the sad loss.

The former governor equally condoled with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) over the irreplaceable loss.
