Why is this op shedding dry tears for Nigeria? Who even told him there was ever a country by the name Nigeria? it was only a slave concentration camp where some people exploited others using the name Nigeria. they had no intentions whasoever to make the place good. just to exploit the resources of the place to build brand new railway line to Daura or close down Kano International airport and use the opportunity to build up Sokoto claiming it's taken Kano's traffic. Now compare that to when PH was closed down and flights were diverted to Owerri. yet, not a single 40 watt electricity bulb was bought for Owerri which diverted PH traffic. Go figure!  |

The HYPOCRISY of this administration! Who else has drained this country with medical tourism more than them? Buhari even parked a plane for months incurring 5,000 pounds penalty for 3 full months! He didn't even care what good could have been done with that money to so many unemployed youths roaming the streets and shouting Sai baba for him. |

Abagworo:Thank God you owned up that you didn't know what happened. Now Imo airport was built from the scratch to finish through community self help. The compensation paid for the land, the clearing of the trees, the survey of the place, runway construction and later terminal building. It took such a long time because the communities were donating N10,000 or N50,000 naira. Many Imo philanthropists including Arthur Nzeribe, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu also donated. After the Buhari military coup of 1984, Mbakwe was removed from power. Yet, people were donating to the project and it continued at a very slow pace under the military due to corruption that followed. 1 Like |

I even donated to the Owerri airport dream even when Ike Nwachukwu was military administrator because Mbakwe had set up an endowment fund for the project at universities. Rochas is only building six canopies he calls cargo warehouses where goods will be stored for N7 billion naira. imagine that one canopy costs more than N1 billion naira according to Rochas! Stop posting silly links that has nothing to do with reality. The image in your link is not SMICA, it is a European airport. Rochas hasn't even finished building his six storage rooms, yet you claim he built an airport. Do you know how much it cost Mbakwe to clear the area and build a 2.7 KM runway that can take a jumbo jet? Do you know how it cost Mbakwe to build the terminal building which even renovation of the building is a big headache for the present people running airports in Nigeria? Abagworo:Let Rochas focus hard on helping SMICA resume international flights the way El-Rufai got Ethiopian airline to Kaduna. Owerri has the overwhelming advantage of being very close to Aba and will boom if things are done well for SMICA. He should also get his friends Buhari and Fashola to complete the Aba Owerri road which they since abandoned. Let Buhari do one good thing for Rochas who has been running his mouth for him and helped him secure the party's nomination by claiming he too was contesting, just to rubbish Igbo votes that would have gone to other candidates. If Rochas was able to set up basic flight services to even if he gets Kenya airways to combine Owerri to their Accra or Dakar or Douala flights with stopover at SMICA, it would cement his legacy after Sam Mbakwe who built that airport from community fund raising activities. Although building hotels are good, Rochas should use his APC influence to do something tangible for Imo State. He should emulate El-Rufai doing concrete things for Kaduna and nor building hotels for ashewo. SMICA (Sam Mabakwe International Cargo airport) is only "International" in name. He should use his influence to get the authorities to approve SMICA for international flights, then he will work with Aba based importers and business community to get an airline to fly into Owerri. Even if it is Egypt Air or Kenya Airways to begin with. SMICA can also have connecting flights to key African countries where the Aba based business people usually cargo and export their goods. Then, how did he know what was discussed if there were no video or audio evidence? So Ojukwu goes to meeting and sits with his son observing?
